Danielle Flannery: Had a Celebration of Life Memorial here last weekend. The place was large enough to accommodate our very large family. The facility was clean, cooled and we had access to what we needed in the kitchen area. I would definitely recommend this place.

Mortar Shel: All inclusive, everyone is welcome. No hidden caveats, just love for all people no matter what! When Ghandi said he liked our christ, but our Christian's weren't very christ like, he was very much NOT talking about this church. The pastors, workers, and attendees are the kind of people Gandi would be proud of. Active in the LGBTQ+ community, as well as outreach for marginalized people in our area, homeless, POC, Youth, etc. Love is the way things are handled. Everyone welcome. I love this place.

Michael Liemohn: I really like the long-form slogan of Blue Ocean Faith Ann Arbor: "a Jesus, Spirit, Scripture, science, all-people friendly church." I particularly like that "science" word in there. At BOFA2, I can talk honestly and openly about climate physics and environmental stewardship, topics that we are called to care about. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the music is fantastic, the service is modern yet with many traditional elements, and the sermons are deep yet real.

Lori Skibbe: This is a special place, with warm and loving people. Blue Ocean works to be as inclusive as possible. When my son drove in using his power wheelchair, the congregation rearranged their seating plan, so that he can benefit more from the service. He is also fully included in youth activities, as are several other children with disabilities.

Rob Smith: A 'Church' geared soley to the LGTBQ community and no one else. Christ comes in a distant second in this place.

Molly Morton: What a beautiful, compassionate, open, and joyful community of people! This is a church that truly believes that all people are made in God's image, and as a result is one of the most loving and thoughtful church home I have ever known. Fully LGBTQ inclusive. Creative children's program. Casual and friendly. Good mix of traditional, contemporary, smart and accessible. Excited to meet and involve newcomers (you won't feel new for long...I'm horribly shy and and I always feel confident and wanted when I'm there!). One of the few places I've ever been that truly and eagerly embraces everyone.

I am connected to the Sunday service via online streaming of the Sunday service. I love the music, the genuine warmth of the pastors, their great sermons and wonderful music! I'm just bummed that I don't live close enough to attend regularly. I hope to visit in person sometime soon.

Laura Schram: We struggled to find a church in Ann Arbor that is truly inclusive of LGBTQ folks, and are grateful to have a home at Blue Ocean. The music is contemporary worship and each sermon typically ends with a meditation, which I love. Our family has young children, and the children’s ministry is also a warm and welcoming place.

Shonie Jordan: My child attended this center for three weeks and they definitely leave a lot to be desired. They treat 3 year olds without any grace and nurturing. I spoke with the director and teachers-where the director stated “normally black boys need structure”. I overheard the children being told to sit still and be quiet during mealtime. Which I shared with the director this reminded me of a prison set up versus an environment for children to learn and explore. She later shared that the kids when entering Kindergarten could count to 100 and write their name. She shared that she was licensed in some field, great I’m a mother of several children with great character and academics skills. At 3 years old I am focused on social skills and expressing feelings in a healthy manner. My child said another child hit him on the butt and the teacher dismissed it- without looking into it. This is nothing he experienced at home so either he saw this at the center or it happened. He also picked up some lovely choice words “hoe” and “wait until we get outside” was learned within his first week onsite. After speaking to the director about the interaction the next day his teacher threatened to take my son’s dinosaur as he entered the building; which he clings to like a teddy bear. They use a lot of negative reinforcement. He would receive assignments saying he used the wrong color crayon. Why were the other colors present?They also take a very long time to respond to emails regarding accounting errors. They use a decent electronic system to log meals, arrival, and task. I wish they put more effort into creating a healthy environment for children.
