Bentley Historical Library: what do users think?
M Barnz: As a researcher from Ohio State, it pains me to say this, but the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan is an absolute treasure. Having made two research trips, I can say that the staff is always friendly and their systems are easy to use. Of all the libraries/archives I have visited between the United States, Taiwan, and the PRC the Bentley Historical Library was the most visitor friendly.
Ross Helmick: I was awed by the service and all-around atmosphere of the Library. The staff is friendly and helpful. They answer all questions and provide requested materials in a fast and friendly manner. I am partially disabled, and they helped accommodate my needs. Thank you Library Staff.
Alex V: Very cool to research here!
Stephanie Muringer: This place is so cool, if I hadn't taken my history course I would have never known about it. They keep all sorts of records tangentially related to the university's history. I was unable to go with my class for the initial meeting where they explained the rules, but the staff helped me out without complaint. The staff have always been helpful, and even interested in what kind of work I was embarking on. In my quest to learn about how WWII veterans changed the university, I was able to come across other information thanks to the archivist about the Army's Japanese Intensive Language course that ultimately led to the formation of the Center for Japanese Studies. There's a crazy history of spying, moving folks from the internment camps on the west coast, and professors pulling military strings to get the cultural studies of Japan ramped up through the university. I've come across language books, letters, and amazing photos through all this. So far, this has been the highlight of my first semester at the university. The only challenge is parking. They have a really small parking lot, and you have to get a hang tag from inside. The university's bus stop isn't terribly far, and I've used that as well when I wasn't sure on parking. In the worst case scenario, parking at the VA hospital across the street would be viable.

Ann Arbor District Library: Downtown: what do users think?
Syd Smith: Such a great library with lovely staff :)
Molly Siglin: They have a section that is like “a blind date with a book/movie” where it’s wrapped up with a note that gives a brief synopsis. Seems very fun if you like surprises!!
Bruce Geffen: Such an excellent resource in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor!
David Russell: It is hard not to love the AADL - they do the summer game for the kids, and their collection is amazing. They have music instruments and tools and sewing machines and art.....it is just wowThis year we even checked out seeds!!! Like 10 packets of seeds for our home garden!!!!
Charles Carlson: Winner, winner!
Elena R.: AADL offers many different products, events, and services to the community. It is one strong pillar of AA active life. The space of downtown library is great: open and luminous, never chaotic.
Velesa Cole: GREAT 👍
Nancy Collis: We participated in the Luminary workshop and it was SO nice! They provided all the materials and know-how while my son constructed a glowing CAT face (it's upside down in the picture because it's drying from all the glue). Such an awesome library!
Mark Ollis: Vending machine will Rob you!
Stan Rifken: My wife and I attended a recent drag BINGO event at the library. The game, was run by Jadein Black, a local drag artist. We support the Public Library as a community asset, even if we enjoy buying and owning the books we read.It was great to see the parents and children at the library to play BINGO, moderated by this great educator/drag performer. It was an over-the-top and most amusing drag queen performance that was family-friendly, as well.In addition to running the BINGO game, he was engaging the youngsters and adults with stories of his life as a drag performer and a teacher. We enjoyed the event a performance. It was an event for adults as well as for parents and their kids.A good time was had by all!
Melissa Perez: I love coming to the events here, like the letterpress lab and drag bingo! They have amazing resources and a variety of things to check out.
Victoria Poole: Always a pleasurable visit!
Jonathan Pan: Great place for reading and doing homework.
Keow Giak Sim: Staffs are friendly, environment are great.
Mario Hazza: Good library option if you’re downtown
Billy Keener: Excellent library. Computers are fast and it's spread out over 3 floors.
k h: amazing staff who will go out of their way to help you! i had trouble getting a purchased music score to print, no matter what the staff tried, because the website didn't seem to want to communicate with the library's printers. eventually I gave up and left to catch a bus. halfway to my stop, a staff member named Vanessa came running after me with my music! another of the staff (Audrey) had finally managed to get the document to print. i can't believe the two of them kept working at it even after I left, and then followed me to make sure I got it!! i really appreciate both of them!
Emilia Fichter (Gonzalez-Baradlay): This library is a paradise. It's not only the events or workshops they host. Or the summer game. Or the kid's section. Or the space you can rent for your meetings. Or the people that works there. Or the fact that you can simply go for a coffee and a magazine during cold days... You can check out electric guitars, led lights for your party, a sewing machine, seeds for your garden, a board game, a puzzle, music CDs, blue ray movies, ebooks and they also have regular books! Go figure.
Kathy Kujawa: Very spacious well organized and inviting!
sam the can: There were so many books there very bookish. 0/10
Bruce Popejoy: Parking is terrible, once in the store "social distancing" is a joke and people without masks. I am also surprised by some of the prices, not an antique store but some items are priced like it.
