William Fransee: Stood us up! Strange experience! I booked a tour 9 days in advance...4:30 pm tour on a Sat...part of a birthday celebration for my wife. I spoke to "Captain Scotty" and received text confirmation. Well, we arrived at the docks as instructed to drop off cooler and meet him for a parking pass for the tavern. As I arrived, the pontoon was pulling in at 4:10 pm from what appeared to be the afternoon tour. Captain Scotty walked with the group up the dock and towards the tavern. Ironically, he even spoke to me as he walked by. At 4:30, which was supposed to be our departure time, he still had not returned to his boat. So, I went up to the tavern, and he was nowhere to be found. I tried calling his cellphone...no answer...left voicemail. I sent texts...showed as delivered and read on my end...no response. We waited it out until 5 pm and then left to get dinner. At about 6 pm Capt Scotty responded to my text saying that I didn't give him enough notice and that others had the time slot??? After we finished dinner (approximately 6:30 pm), the pontoon was still tied up to the dock at Zukey Lake Tavern. Absolutely a bad experience. I do not recommend!
Scott Strane: Positive:Quality
Leslie Baker: I do not recommend this boat tour for the following reasons: 1) he was 40 minutes late. Our tour was scheduled from 2 - 5 PM, but we didn't start it until 2:40 because he was late returning from another tour. We tried calling him a couple times to find out what was going on, but he never answered his phone and didn't bother to call us to tell us he was on his way. He just showed up 40 minutes past our scheduled tour time with barely an explanation. However, while on our tour, the "Captain" managed to take 2 or 3 phone calls; 2) we had two kids with us, ages 5 and 3, and the main point of the tour was for the adults to have a relaxing afternoon on the water seeing the chain of lakes and for the kids to enjoy the boat ride and have some fun swimming and playing in the water. Instead, the "captain" stopped the boat early in the tour and tried to give us a very detailed lecture on the history of the lakes and surrounding area, which was way above the kids' heads and they were bored to tears. When my husband tried to explain to the "Captain" that we just wanted to see the lakes and give the kids the opportunity to swim for a little bit, the "Captain" said we had a bad attitude and asked if we wanted to be taken back to Zukey Tavern. Needless to say, this put a damper on the entire afternoon and we were uncomfortable the remainder of the trip. The only reason I didn't say, yes, take us back is because I knew the kids would be very upset and disappointed the boat ride was being cut short, but believe me, I was pretty mad and wanted to tell this guy where he could go; 3) this tour was about the "Captain" and what he wanted and not about what his customers wanted. Plus, once he got over his fit because we didn't want a history lecture, which resulted in him giving us the silent treatment, he started talking constantly--about himself! We ended up having an okay afternoon only because the kids had fun and this was the main reason we went on the tour. The adults could hardly wait to get off the boat! We'll never book another tour with this nut, nor do I recommend this tour because of the way we were treated. Maybe this man was having a bad day, I don't know and I don't care because there was no excuse for his poor behavior. It turned out, it was "Captain Scotty" who had the bad attitude, and we didn't appreciate it one bit.
Gary Masch: Wonderful and informative from Capt Scotty. Great day on this chain of lakes. Please inform me by email when your book "What's a Zukey" is published and available to purchase.
