The Rachel Madcow Show: From start to finish these people are real pros. They’ve been doing this since the early 60s. This is more impressive since the flooring category can get filled with a lot of cheesy owners, by that I mean, the floor owners will saw you are bad product. You’ll have to replace in six years just so they can make a big Marco on something you’re not aware it’s cheap The installation was immaculate. If you wanna rest assured, people will come in your house and do the job right from start to finish choose these guys

Amy Higgins: We chose Ann Arbor Flooring America because customers praised their timeliness, efficiency, and the smoothness of the whole process from beginning to end, and that's just what we received! For each of two jobs--one downstairs with luxury vinyl, one upstairs with carpeting--Craig, our excellent salesman at the main store--sent out a skilled team of two. Alvin and Jose finished the downstairs in one day rather than the expected two, and communication was clear from start to finish. Jim and Lucas, likewise, finished ahead of schedule on carpeting the upstairs, and left our place free of nails and restored to order. This company is not the cheapest option, but you DO get what you pay for with them.
Brian Cain: We were very pleased with the quality and knowledge of the staff, Steve, in particular. He followed up on some very complicated forms required by our condo board regarding the safety and quality of the floor we were buying to conform with all the local requirements. Obviously, this was "not his first rodeo". The installation crew led by Craig worked fast, cleaned up and did a very precise job (perfect, really) of getting our flooring on a diagonal within many adjoining rooms. We were really quite amazed at the precise measurements and their anticipation of obstacles in order for the finished job to come out perfectly. This is a quality organization, top to bottom.

Andrew Berriz: Process was disorganized and install sloppy. Subcontractor assigned to our project was irritable and left several finish items incomplete and told us to complete ourselves. Need to routinely follow up with the scheduling department.
Tecla Loup: My experience with Merkel has consistently been very positive. I’ve contracted with them more than once for flooring. I prefer linoleum (the real stuff) and, unlike most companies, they carry it. Service was just great. The installer did a fantastic job. I couldn’t be more pleased and give Merkel my unconditional endorsement.

Amy Grambeau: I have been shopping at Merkel's for years. This family owned business is the real deal. Our dining table is stunning and the Sherrill barrel chairs I bought years ago still look great. We've had them re-covered several times because they are built so well and they are the perfect size for that room. Thanks to the designer who came to the house and measured the room and made the suggestion. These chairs were the perfect solution. Everything is made to last. So, I also bought a house full of Karastan carpeting at Merkel ten years ago. We live on a dirt road and we have had kid, cat and dog traffic like you wouldn't believe. It still looks great. I always shop there first !

I worked directly with George Merkel to secure a donation of carpet remnants for the non-profit, Detroit Black Community Food Security Network. Not only did George agree to the (sizable) donation quickly, but he delivered it to the non-profit himself! Throughout this experience, George was incredibly friendly, flexible, and easy to reach. It is rare to find a store with such kind, helpful staff and a strong community spirit.I will definitely be going here in the future for all of my personal carpet and furniture needs.
Claire Duncan: We just had beautiful hardwood floors installed throughout our entire home. It was a huge project and the entire staff was wonderful to work with. I was not an easy customer. I wanted this specific gray color of wood and visited the store a dozen different times to get samples. They never lost patience with me and were professional and helpful in guiding me to my dream floor ( I ended up buying a Kentwood floor ). I finally have the house I've been waiting for! Thank you!

We are highly satisfied customers and will return to Merkel Carpet One the next time the need arises for new flooring or carpet.
Nancy: We wanted to buy from a local company, but Merkel's customer service is so bad we won't shop there again. Lower-priced stores have MUCH better service. We purchased $675 worth of carpet squares...picked them up but they'd been taken out of the boxes and were just piled up. Turns out this kind of product is very, very heavy. NO ONE would help us load it into our car. "We don't do that", we were told. Really? Next time we'll buy from The Floor Trader on S. Industrial--they are great, have excellent products, and top shelf service as well.

Jackie Young: I contacted Eric at LuXe Interiors for laminate flooring with a relatively short lead time and was shopping remotely. I had a brand in mind and some background knowledge of laminates. Eric walked me through the differences with each brand and their different lines so that I could make an informed choice. I ended up going with the Harmonic laminate which they had in stock at their warehouse in town.There was a mixup and the flooring wasn't at the store when my contractor went to pick it up but Eric made sure the flooring would be there on the 2nd pick up attempt and also offered to deliver it.We also ended up being a carton short and Eric was able to get it to us quickly which I greatly appreciated.I was provided with a free product in return for my honest review.

Matthew Butler: My dad had his rugs cleaned and stored there. He passed away and now they are trying to keep the rugs. They want to charge rent on two months that I didn’t even know where the rugs were. I didn’t get the death certificate for two months so there was no way to know were there were. These people are heartless. I’m going to have to go to court to get the rugs back.
