Tower Plaza: what do users think?
Galding Hing: Unresponsive and condescending management
Ashley Kim: If I could give a zero star rating, I would. Absolutely stay away from this place, especially from that property manager (yes, exactly the one you are assuming).Property manager is unresponsive and avoids calls when I request something that I totally have the right to inquire about, saying they are busy (I mean, so are tenants too). The only times they are responsive are when they have to receive rent payments from me. On the contrary, when I have to get something from them such as the security deposit or lease related inquiries, they act like it’s none of their business. I believe this is an extremely irresponsible and rude attitude, especially against young undergraduate students with no legal knowledge and no disposable income. Please do yourself a favor and look into other apartments. Sure, it has good location, but that’s about it and it’s really not worth the hassle you have to go through while living here.
Chee Ly: It’s a shame I can’t give zero star because that’s what I really want to give. This one particular property manager arrogantly mistreated, yelled at, and gaslighted his tenant. He evaded responsibility taking advantage of the decentralized nature of condominiums. He did nothing to address the constant noise issue due to constructions and parties which is another inherent problem.
Martin P: Doorman is great. Soundproof for corner unit. Loading dock is convenient. Worst landlords ever. Fire exit does not open. Safety concern
Brian Tomsic: In all fairness the building has excellent and prompt maintenance. The management has been quick to address previous issues, and a lot of money was spent in the last year, and is being spent on a continuous basis, to upgrade the building. If you are looking for an apartment or condo near campus that is soundproof, secure, and absent the noisy keg parties, this is the place.Very popular with UM grad students and faculty.fyi, there are several reviews here from people who are either using fake names or never lived in TP. I stand by every positive representation here and bend over backward to solve any issues with my tenants.
Brig B: If you are unfortunate enough to be renting a unit that is near a unit that is going through renovations, you will be miserable here. Constant renovation noises (hammering, drilling, etc.) starting at 9AM. Impossible to work from home when every 10-15 seconds there is loud construction noise blasting into your microphone while you're on a call. No one will tell you about this when you are touring. It's awful and you have no control over it.I give 3 stars because the building itself is fine. No other major complaints. The doors to the units are extremely worn and old (probably haven't been replaced since the 1960's) and they let in all noise from the hallway.
Ken Chadwick: Awesome Arbor land mark!!! You always know where you are in Ann Arbor when see rhe Tower Plaza Building!!
Jorge Anaya: Wouldn't recommend to anyone. BT is the worst person ever. Staff is very disrespectful an very unprofessional, they are usually sleeping at the reception when they should be doing their job. It's just an awful place. Elevators can stop working all of the sudden and they won't care. Very bad place. Even one of the person in charge has some bias against certain group of people. Awful place. The 24/7 is not reliable at all, you can see people that aren't residents inside the building. Maintenance is awful.
Lucid M: Overall, I have had a good living situation here. But like any condo/apartment building, it has its flaws. I rented a unit from a building manager. I'll list the pros and cons.Pros:- Great views on higher floors- Fast and friendly maintenance- 24/7 security at the front desk- Thick concrete walls between unitsCons:- Most doors to units are literally falling apart, don't see them replacing the doors anytime soon.- Along with the decrepit doors, the sound barrier between the hallway and each unit is relatively nonexistent due to the thinness of doors and huge gap between the unit's floor and bottom of the door. Anything you say in a moderately loud voice in your unit is clearly heard in the hallway, and vice versa.- If you live next to an elevator, you will hear it all the time. No avoiding this.- The building is old, and everything but the lobby looks very old inside. This goes along with the doors comment.Make sure you tour a unit before signing a lease. Since units are individually owned, some owners have not renovated in decades, because they don't have to. They know someone will rent their unit even if the paint is cracking and kitchen/bathroom are 20+ years old. However, if you find a good unit at a good price, you will likely enjoy living here.
Eric S: Interested in renting a room, looked at the website and in multiple places the website mentioned rental contact name Sean Kidd. Sent him email and followed up with phone call, No Reply. I feel bad for those condo owner who wants to rent. Also it adds clouds in my mind how well this location is managed.
Scarlett Ong Zeng: Great place! Lived here since freshman to senior year. Prime location, comfortable living, and good maintenance and security team!
John Jee: Poor maintenance, unresponsive property manager (Brian Tomsic), outdated unit for a premium price (my unit was on the second floor), plumbing issues (water leaks in my bathroom, and multiple preexisting defects.Stay away from Brian Tomsic, one of the property managers at the Tower Plaza. He is irresponsible and unresponsive to any requests unless it concerns payment. Currently, I am waiting for him to get back to me about a water leak in the bathroom. It has been 3 weeks now since i notified Brian of this issue. After 2 weeks, I stopped by his office for an update and he seemed confused at first. He did recall, however, and told me he was waiting for an “estimate” for the repair. Brian, estimates do not take 3 weeks. It takes usually a day for something like this. There was also a bat in my unit—on my bed to be exact. Yes, you read that correctIy, a bat. I have never seen one before and wish i took a picture of it, but... i freaked out and ran out the door. Brian Tomsic, who I immediately contacted, has done nothing but apparently provide a professional service with my number. Ok... so tenants are now responsible for bat extermination??Right now, maintenance is dealing with it and it looks like the bat has moved to another unit in the building. There are apparently ~ 300 units in Tower Plaza and it has been 2 days now without any further action. The important question however, is how the bat got inside the units. My guess is that it came through one of the open windows. Prior to last week, most of the units in Tower Plaza did not have window screens. But after decades of intensive discussions, the decision was made to install window screens on all operable windows. Better late than never i guess.TLDR: Avoid Dealing with Brian Tomsic and do not assume everything is in working order.
Patrick Chen: Tower Plaza is unique in that each unit is individually owned. What this means is that leaser experiences will vary greatly as each unit will be maintained in different states. I purchased an unit last summer and have found the living experience in Tower Plaza to be enjoyable. The location is prime as it is close to downtown Ann Arbor and university buildings. The security has been friendly and the maintenance crew has been timely, responsive, and professional. The interior is not as modern as the exterior but I have no problem with that. There are construction crews that work frequently on various projects. Fortunately, the walls at Tower Plaza are relatively thick compared to other apartments such as Sterling 411. My only complaint is that the three elevators for 26 floors means longer wait times, but that is only at peak hours and is a minor hassle at its worst.
Sharon Baron: You wake up at 7:30am to horrendous sound of drills, hammering, and excessive work being done in the next door apartment. You fall asleep to this sound which goes on til past 10pm sometimes. Don't think about staying in during the weekend to chill because you will be tortured with constant drilling and nailing sounds. The next door apartment is empty and it is under constant renovation. So it is not a "bad neighbor" situation. Whoever is in control of renovation doesn't have the slightest ettiquette for the current residents. So the rest of us, the current residents, suffer the consequences of choosing this apt.You try to look past it once, twice, and again and again. But when this happens for more than half a year and contacting the security only relieves it for an hour, you move out. Then you tell friends about how you were treated and how no one should live there. If someone who is in control of this apt sees this post, please tell your workers that it is not ok to disturb the entire floor at such ungodly hours. At least limit the work hours to the afternoons when the residents might be out working and leave us alone during the morning, nights, and weekends.Or, just ignore us and watch us leave after a year.
Joseph Lee: Close to everything!

Huron Towers Apartments: what do users think?
Erik Keup: Rent increases and lack of maintenance make it hardly worth it to live here. Trash on the ground is around for weeks. Elevators are often not working and/or stop on floors with nobody there, making them take forever. In the summer, inside public areas that are for tenants (lobby, mailroom, laundry, trash room, hallways, etc.) are kept are extremely hot temperatures or not cooled at all? Pets aren't allowed... but you'll see plenty of animals around that are definitely not service animals.UPDATE: Be prepared for when you WILL be stuck in an elevator. The elevators now USUALLY stop on MULTIPLE floors that nobody is waiting for. They also have broken fans so the air is hot and stale. If you have any anxiety or any medical conditions, it's probably best to live somewhere with working elevators.
Mingcheng Hu: Having lived here for two years and just moved out, I would say this would be a great apartment in Ann Arbor. (Actually I'm quite surprised by the number of negative comments)The apartment has a pretty long history. Consequently I have encountered issues such as the congestion, but the staff are highly responsive and the problem was fixed within a day.The price may be higher than some in north campus, but definitely much lower than the ones in central campus. I usually spent just 15 minutes to central campus. The residents here are also diverse and often friendly, as you will meet local residents as well as students. The only problem is that you need to take a bus or drive to a nearby grocery store (Kroger), but I would definitely recommend it to students newly admitted to UMich.
Misael: 1. "The coils of the original A/C/heater unit were cleaned along with new filters."Cleaning a 60 year rusty machine doesn't make a difference.2. "The unit was then removed and replaced with a different one which required a specialized fitted box."Took 105 days to be exact, a short timeline never came to fruition. Still ineffective. Anyone can be in the room and tell you there is something wrong.3. "The BR baseboards were additionally cleaned by 2 different team members to eliminate odors you detected."Not effective.4. "The painter caulked and sealed areas along the wall and column."Not sure how this is relevant.5. "Your roommates continue to reside in this same 3 BR apartment."The other rooms did not cause me any issues. The room did not cause only me issues, others noticed the irritant. No refund offered despite not habitable room offered.
Gann Jinping: 糟糕的房间 毛泽东有更好的生活条件Why they no fix apartment?
Lauren Heinonen: I have lived here for 5 years and I’m very sad to leave. Huron Towers makes a wonderful home for a wide range of people. There are many engineering, art, music, and architecture students who live here due to the close proximity to UofM North Campus. Young professionals, families, and retirees are also found here, as the location is wonderful and the environment is pristine and quiet. All residents tend to be quiet and respectful.I particularly love the views and proximity to parks. My 1-bed looks east and I can see the Huron River from my window. The building sits on the river and right behind the building is an access point to Gallup Park, the B2B trail, and even the Arb if you’re willing to cross a fence/railroad. As someone who enjoys nature walks, running, and biking, this location has been a dream. You can’t forget the beautiful pool adjacent to the river, plus the gorgeous gardens maintained all around the property, especially between the buildings. It’s overall a very safe location in town, too. I always feel comfortable walking alone day or night.Walking to North Campus is a breeze, only about ten minutes away. You can also walk to central campus and downtown pretty easily, though it’s more of a trek and takes 30-50 minutes. The easier option is to take the free UofM Blue Bus, which stops along Fuller about a 7 minute walk from HT. The Ann Arbor city buses also have stops very nearby. Grocery stores are a short drive away.Management is one of the best reasons to live here. Everyone’s very friendly, welcoming, and they go out of their way to help. Maintenance is impossibly speedy — for non-emergency issues they usually come within a day or two, and for urgent issues sometimes they’re there within 20 minutes or less! The buildings are always very clean and comfortable. I’ve never seen any kind of pest, and dirt never remains for long. I never have to worry about my car getting stuck in the snow in the winter because plowing is prompt, and roads and pathways are always well salted and cleared quickly. There’s also optional parking available in the parking garage, which is particularly nice in the winter! The apartments themselves can be a little run down, but I think they have charm. The buildings were built in the 60s, and some units have not been renovated much. However, they’re safe, sturdy, and the thick concrete floors prevent you from ever hearing your neighbors above and below you. The walls are a bit thinner between the units and you may on occasion hear your neighbors, but since most residents are quiet and respectful, this is not much of an issue. I also learned to love the white noise of the heater/AC unit, which drowns out any noises anyway. It’s true that some units can be a bit drafty, as the exterior walls don’t have much insulation. I’ve found that the auxiliary heaters keep things warm enough if run consistently in the winter. The huge windows lining the exterior walls let in so much light! And the balconies are very large and I’ve grown flowers and vegetables out there every summer. The only downside of the balcony is that all the balconies on your floor are connected and only separated by a couple metal rods, so I found that when I sat on my balcony I could see into other apartments easily and be seen by my neighbors, which made me feel a bit too uncomfortable to use mine frequently.A few huge bonuses of living here: on the ground floor of the B building, there are some shops! The Lunch Room bakery and cafe is my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor, maybe ever, and they offer beautiful breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices. And they’re all vegan! It’s really a dream come true to be able to walk downstairs and get a delicious meal. There’s also Unicorn Market, a convenience store with hot food available too. There’s a salon as well. Residents also have access to the fitness center, which has plenty of both cardio machines and weights.Really I can’t say enough good things about living here. I’d come back in a heartbeat if I get a chance to live in A2 again!
Fengrui Qu: When I was looking for a place to move in, I found Huron tower via google. I was impressed by the positive reviews about their management team. So we finally decided to move in. I have to say that the staff here are really really great. The first day I got there, I brought them a challenging issue. I need a big parking space to receive my furniture and other stuff. I have asked many other places and no where I can find a space to do that, not even the storage area. One of their staff (I am not sure it is appropriate to share their names here so I won't) quickly booked a big area for me in there parking lot. Another staff was willing to help moving my furniture. He even brought two other helpers with him to help me out. I definitely couldn't do it without their great helps. The hardware here are also decent. The location is great. I walk through the garden trail to UM daily, which is a great relaxing experience and physical exercise.Their management team are always very friendly and eager to help. The building has been maintained very clean and orderly. I do not have any complaints toward them and I strongly recommend this apartment to whoever are looking for a place to rent.Thank you!
Luis: 5/5 for mostly everything except the elevator service. 1 of the 2 elevators was broken when I moved in last year which caused me and my roommates an extremely rough and frustrating move-in, and now it’s broken again which will undoubtedly cause anyone moving in the near future to go through the same thing. 1 elevator for a 12 story high rise isn’t enough, and the building’s new rent hike should be enough to cover a new elevator, yet they continue to choose replacement parts and source them from out of state manufacturers which causes a longer wait time. Just thought this would be important to know for anyone looking to move in.
Jie Feng: This is a very safe and convenient community. The staffs are very friendly and helpful, it's amazing how well they operate everything. I used to forget my keys when I went to the basement to do laundry, but I was so lucky that they help me solve the problem even at 11pm! And many times when I carry heavy bags and boxes to the trash room, they were very happy to help me put them in the bins. And the things I love the most are the beautiful river view in summer and geese laying eggs in pots between two buildings in winter. Very comfortable balcony!
Bradley Baker: Price: ReasonableApartment: Very clean, spacious, and great balcony views. Appliances vary by apartments, but even the older AC units still worked perfectly the whole year.Staff: The best staff I've ever met. They are extremely friendly and helpful. Maintenance staff are quick to respond and it's clear that they care about the work they do. Office staff are very friendly and reasonable.Amenities: There's a convenience store, a cafe, a weight room, a hair salon, a pool, and a piano studio. It's right on the river and there's a trail you can take to the park or the Arboretum. I've never had a problem getting a parking spot, and there's covered parking for a bit extra if you'd prefer that. The main floor usually smells heavenly as the cafe makes pastries for the next day.Overall: Any of the minor problems were overshadowed by the many positives of my experience here. If my family or friends move to Ann Arbor, I'll be recommending that they check Huron Towers first.
Matt Loper: I've rented from dozens of landlords over the last couple of decades, and Huron Towers is by far the best I've ever encountered! The Huron Towers team is the best of the best and consistently took great care of me and of the building. Adrienne, Tara, Riley, and Lisa were always incredibly helpful and kind and willing to be flexible when needed. The entire grounds and maintenance team is so awesome, so friendly, and clearly take great pride in keep the buildings and grounds in fantastic shape. My apartment was well priced, wonderfully clean, quiet, with very affordable utilities (great heat all winter at a really great price), modern and well functioning appliances, and came with tons of other perks: Ala and the Unicorn Market are awesome, Cynthia at Marilyn Marks Hair Salon is so kind and generous and talented, the incredible team and food at Lunch Room are a vegan dream, and access to the trails in the Arboretum, the B-2-B trail, and everything else in the area was exactly right for me.I cannot recommend living at Huron Towers strongly enough! I can't wait to hopefully get back some day.
Wenbo Du: It's a 5/5 for location if you're a mostly north campus student, 1/5 for quality of the units. I lived here for two years because the location was too perfect. I loved walking to and from campus during the months when the weather was good,. Living here made it possible to not have a car.Unfortunately, after the first two years I couldn't tolerate the lack of heating during the winters. The heating units installed in the rooms are old, noisy and ineffective. I would describe the apartments as barely livable during the winters even with the heater running constantly. I needed to wear thick clothing to avoid freezing indoors, and I'm actually a pretty cold-tolerant person. In the end I managed to get by with multiple space heaters set up.The heating units are converted to air conditioning units during the summer, which actually worked very well. The problem is the lack of adjustable climate control - the unit is either on or off. So if I left it on during the night, the air conditioning was so powerful that it would make the entire apartment cold. But if I turned it off, the building acts like a huge thermal sink and I would wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I was in a sauna.
Esther Oh: Let me just start by saying that I love the staff (janitors, maintenance ppl, etc.) But the management is probably the most inflexible people you can interact with. They increased my rent by 22% and they said it's non-negotiable. It's so expensive and I guess the buildings are clean enough but I really feel like it's not a good deal at all. I'm paying the cost of a really fancy apartment meanwhile each unit is in just ok condition. Pictures they display on their websites look super fancy but most of the units really don't look like that. When I first moved in, there were ripped parts on the carpet (minor enough so I guess that's why they didn't replace it?) and hair painted on bathroom ceilings. There are 2 elevators but one of them was out of service for like 6 months (now it's fixed). There are 12 floors, 15 apartments on each floor so 180 units were just sharing that one elevator for a pretty long time I gotta say. It's a clean enough space to live, most of the staff are nice, but it's REALLY not a good value. They also advertise that public wifi is available but it's so weak you can't use it in your units so you end up paying separately for a better WiFi service. Electricity bill in summer is ~$200 bc of AC. Walls are super thin, you can literally hear your next door neighbor farting or burping. Make your own informed decision, but this isn't a place I would recommend any of my friends to live.
Hao.T. Lee: The rates are going to increase by above 20%. The office seems to only want to kick out every residents who can't afford it. For Huron's very basic equipment and poor living quality, it is not worthy of the price anymore.
Benjamin Carney: I rarely do Google reviews, but Huron Towers is one of those places that deserves special recognition because of how positive my experience has been living there for the past 2 or so years while I was in school. The dated exterior (which still has its own unique charm) can be a bit deceiving, as the overall building and surrounding area is very well-maintained. The interior is a bit more updated, especially with the recent hallway renovations (new paint and carpet) that were done over the course of 2021 spring/summer. Management and maintenance are both extremely responsive and willing to go above and beyond to resolve any needed repairs or requests that come up. I also felt like the community was generally pretty friendly, and I enjoyed striking up conversations with other residents in the elevator, laundry room, etc.I highly recommend Huron Towers to anyone who is looking for a quiet, affordable, and "no surprises" place to live. If you happen to live higher up on the west side of either of the two buildings, you'll most likely get some nice views and sunsets.
Rebecca Marie: Update: yes Jason, I gave 1 star because my boyfriend wasn't treated well by someone called Kim, he was awful with him, I don't want to mention the words he said. And also someone called Juan was very rude to my boyfriend as well. We just want to forget everything and move on since we had a bad experience.
Amin usc: I lived here a few years ago, and I have to say the management were really nice and polite. The property is very beautiful and convenient for North Campus. The free above ground parking always had spots when we needed it.The two downsides, is that the location is kind of far from Central even by Bus (can be difficult to get a bus at noon, as they are very full), and the walls facing the balcony is somewhat thin.
Kris Bano: Have lived here 4 years, moving out in one month. Great apartments, with even better landlords. Always respond to problems / inquiries quickly, super nice, and get stuff fixed efficiently. Love the pool, view of the river/forest, and the gym. Would definitely recommend moving here, sad I have to leave the area!
Elizabeth Ronan: Lived here many years, best office staff, management, and maintenance team ever, Huron towers will always feel like home to me. Amazing location close to campus and the arb, pool is beautiful. And there’s a grocery store and popular vegan restaurant in the lobby. You can’t go wrong here!
Judy Ali-Khodja: Looks nice, but be warned if you have damage to your property because of some building or maintenance issue, you're on your own. I have significant damage to my car from parking in the garage and was told that they have nothing to offer me besides an apology because it was "an act of God ".**ETA: after this review, I was told the building would "spilt" my deductible with me. It is better than having to eat the cost myself, but still not what I would expect from a respectable business.
Samuel Dunlap: Huron Towers is a great place to live! The management has been really flexible with dealing with pandemic circumstances for tenants, and they have cultivated a friendly living community. It is located near the Arboretum, Mitchell fields, and UM North campus. The building's balcony views are fantastic.
Yumitomo Onuma: These ratings should be higher. I've lived in several places in Downtown A2 over the past several years. Huron Towers is the best value by far. Resident culture is very quiet and well behaved. Best part is the management/maintenance which is extremely responsive and thoughtful, best in town for sure. In the winter, they're on the shoveling and salting as soon as needed so never worried about getting stuck for class/work. In summer, right next to the Huron River/Arb for trail running/kayaking. Perfect location/value if you ask me.
