Glacier Hills Inc: what do users think?
David Pumphrey: WOW! What a wonderful birthday celebration dinner thanks to all of you! It could not have been better. Everyone worked together to greet, welcome, an serve all my guests with warmth, kindness and joy. Please tell Mary( I do not have her e-mail address) and all the wait staff and cooks how much I appreciate everything they did to make the party such a memorable event. Jay, you went out of the way to address my grandsons allergies so he could enjoy delicious food. I heard over and over from guests how delicious all the d’oeuvres were, and how beautifully presented and yummy the main course was. What a marvelous statement all this was to express how gracious and caring Glacier Hills is! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and may God bless each of you.
Curtis Hoff: Why one star - because that is the lowest allowed. My mother was at Glacier Hills since 2010 but we recently moved her. It used to be a pretty good place but Trinity has ruined it. The focus now is on reducing services, "fleecing the flock" by adding new fees/rules/conditions on everything and maximizing profit. Even getting simple maintenance is basically impossible anymore. Additionally, earlier this year my mother was at the Care and Rehabilitation Center after a hospital stay and we had to remove her and instead pay for an home aid since the care was nonexistent. Unfortunately, Glacier Hills is not what is used to be and I strongly suggest anyone look elsewhere.
Judith Garry: Have you met my friend, Dave? He is part of the Glacier Hills Transportation Team! He is the driver usually assigned to me. Dave is always on time, organized and pleasant. When I hear a knock on my door early on the assigned morning, I know it is my driver Dave. He will help me remember all my paperwork and purse and keys. If my lunch is not ready we leave without, as we must be on time. He also advises me on the temperature outside so I am dressed properly. I think Dave has a map of the U of M buildings memorized in his head. He stays with me until the clinic calls my name to make sure everything is okay. My procedure is six hours so Dave will go about his day until I call to say I am finished. He thin arranges what he is doing to come pick me up and get me back to Glacier Hills as fast as he can. "I really appreciate the Transportation Service and all the drivers provided by Glacier Hills. It is such a great service!
Nera Akiva: They killed my great grandpa and didn’t give the proper pills to my moms friend.
Donald Postema: I attended another unique event at Glacier Hills: an elegant wine tasting seminar with our resident wine expert Dr. Jerry Rosenberg (his wife Corliss did the pouring). (In 2007, Dr. Rosenberg was inducted into the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin [Brotherhood of the Knights of Tastevin] at the Clos de Vougeot in Burgundy, France, based on his years as a wine taster.) He gave us insight into where and how Burgundy and Bordeaux vineyards are grown. He taught us to see, swirl [to release the aroma], smell [to enjoy the bouquet], sip and savor the taste of the wine and delight in the finish. I will enjoy my next bottle of wine a lot more.
gage speer: Great place for your loved one. Enjoyed a walk through the beautiful grounds during a visit. Highly recommend.
Meg Worcester: Moving to Glacier Hills was the best move I ever made! Instead of “downsizing” from a large house, where I had a B&B, to a small apartment, I actually moved to a mansion, where my freshly-renovated living quarters give me all the space I need ~ spacious living room, bedroom, and lovely bathroom, and a kitchen with beautiful appliances and lots of counter space. The location is very convenient and I overlook a dining (and sometimes entertainment) patio, with lots of flowers. I love seeing the daycare center on the other side of a “park.”I’ve now lived at Glacier for 3½ years but it seems like about 18 months! I love that I have more friends now than I ever had at different times of my life, with a different dinner party every evening, if I choose. If I want peace and quiet, there’s lots of that, too! But, most of all, I love the feeling of safety and of being provided and cared for. The staff are incredibly helpful. Our Meadows “house mother” (!), Gloria, is always there for us, whenever we have any questions or needs. There are more examples of staff assistance than I could possibly say here, but, for example, I had a scam call this last week, and when I couldn’t understand the caller, I quickly went to Gayle’s office for help. In short order, she figured out the problem, told the caller in no uncertain terms to “take a hike,” and that was the end of that! In thanking her, I said, “I’ll bet that wasn’t on your job description!” Her immediate reply was, “It is now!!”Another time, I was having trouble getting on a committee Zoom call, and within a minute, there was a knock on my door and John was here to help!I’m reminded of what it’s like to move into a new house, and once I’m settled, I suddenly discover all the perks that I had no idea were included. That’s what it’s like here! All the staff are friendly and competent, and go out of their way to fulfill any wish. The dining staff is amazingly attentive; I can’t list the many key players for fear of leaving someone out. Their adaptability during the COVID crisis was fantastic and was so very appreciated by everyone! The monthly calendar that Priscilla puts together is full to the brim with an incredible variety of top-notch entertainment and educational programs ~ everything from concerts (ragtime band, University string quartets, social-hour background performers, I couldn’t possibly list them all) to antique car shows, safety classes (in many areas), trips to the Holland Tulip Festival, Museum of Natural History, Stratford Festival, Dexter Cider Mill, etc., etc.I love that so many amenities are provided on campus, we never have to leave if we don’t care to ~ everything from a library, cross-campus art displays, hair salon, accounting office (cashing checks, postage accessibility), grocery delivery. At the top, of course, is Nancy Peel, our wonderful Manager ~ who truly listens (and writes in her notebook, AND, most importantly, follows up (!)) on every suggestion and concern that we residents can come up with. She’s really approachable and wants us to be happy!Clearly, I could go on all day; but suffice it to say, I couldn’t imagine a better place to live and, personally, wouldn’t live anywhere else!
Diana Rigan: I recently had a family member stay here in the short term care facility. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The business office was great at answering any questions we had. The food was also exceptional and there were many options to choose from.
Herb Fritz: Great place for your family😊
Jennifer Glover: Glacier Hills is by far the best facility around! The facility is clean and nice to look at. The staff are all very friendly and helpful! Mom says, "I put on my call light to use the restroom and 4 people showed up to help me." The food looks very appetizing and pleasant to look at. Mom says the food is very very good! Her room was neat and in order and everything Mom needed was in reach. Mom has been kept neat and clean and free from odor. The therapy department has been awesome with mom's recovery! I seriously have no complaints. The only thing I would change is that we, the family be called and included in her care more. This place has been so amazing for Mom that she wants to live there! I think that pretty much speaks for itself. Thank you to the entire Glacier Hills Staff, from the ladies that greet us at the front desk, to the nurses and care staff, to the therapy department and the staff in the kitchen and everyone else in between. God Bless You All!The Glover Family,Maxine, Jeff and Jennifer Glover
Michelle Miller: Truly a fantastic team in rehab from nursing, to social work and therapy. Wonderful supportive staff!
Troy Spurlock: This place is amazing. If you are looking for a caring living environment, look no further. Glacier Hill will provide all the care and safety you need. They have amazing staff that's very hospitable, and friendly.
Harris McClamroch: An excellent place to live in a caring, independent living retirement community. So thankful for the support that Glacier Hills provided to help residents through the pandemic.
Saverio Diponio: Had a wonderful time visiting this community!I can see why my friends are so happy living here. This is exactly the type of lifestyle I want for myself in the near future
Jacqueline Lunsford: Great place to live! There are so many exciting things going on right now at this Life Plan Community! You have to check it out
Nathan Gardner: There's nowhere in the area that's better than Glacier Hills! Glacier has been around a long time and there's a reason for that! It's got a number of great amenities and activities for residents, plus there's so many options for people looking to live here.
N G: Glacier Hills has very warm and friendly staff, and there's new renovations underway that are going to look even more amazing than it already does! Go Glacier!
Gabrielle Gibbs: DO NOT WORK HERE!! I thought I would like working at glacier hills but only a couple weeks of employment I saw how unprofessional & unorganized this place is, Someone stole my purse out of the supervisors office!!! & I talked to hr and so many others about it trying to get my purse back and nobody would help me or cared, they acted as if it was no big deal like I had no right to be upset or want my stuff back! I also got to see how they don’t care about the residents I’ve seen so many residents walk around yelling for someone to help them & no staff around to help them. I am very disappointed I worked here my experience was terrible and they should have trustworthy people working at this place being that they care for the elderly!!!
km h: PT and OT are great, food is ok, but nursing is extremely short-staffed which meant I spent 8 hours a day with my mom making sure she got the care she needed. But even 8 hours a day wasn't enough, and I hate to imagine what things were like during covid when no visitors were allowed into the rehab area. While Mom was there, it was me who suspected she might have a blood clot in her leg (she did), it was me who found her laying on the floor with her call light on and no nursing staff in sight, and it was me who ran frantically thru the halls looking for help when she'd been left on the toilet for 45 minutes with no way to get off. I came to know the nursing staff well in the weeks Mom was at G Hills, and the fact is most of them are doing the best job that they can. But they are so very very short-staffed that sometimes they barely have time to glance in a room to make sure no one is lying on the floor and then dash off to the next room. I don't understand how this facility can treat its nursing staff, and thus their patients, so poorly. I marvel that any of the nurses or aides can tolerate these working conditions.
Julie Crawforth: Back in 2015 my mom was in Glacier Hills recovering from back surgery. The experience at Glacier Hills was high end care phenomenal now fast forward to July 2021 my mom was admitted again full knee replacement and I was shocked at how much this place had changed. The care wasn't anything to compare from our last stay. My mom requested a bath and was told she needed to request that from the morning crew and when mom told them they were busy the girl replied and you don't think I am busy and of course it took 2 more days for mom to get a bath. She also had a bandage on that the surgeon marked in bold black magic markers to remove on a certain day 4 days later they still had not removed the bandages to look at the wound. They removed it when she was in a wheelchair being taken to an appointment with the surgeon. We told the surgeon they never took off the bandages. I will never again have my mother admitted here and I feel sorry for those who are there.
M Mammouk: I wish I could give them negative stars. If you love your family members, don’t send them here.My mom was sent to this place for rehabilitation after she fell and sustained a back fracture. In the rehabilitation center the following day, she started developing abdominal pain and distension and they ignored her. When she couldn’t take it anymore, she called and asked me to contact the rehab center. I called and spoke with 3 different people begging them to examine her and order an X-ray because I am a physician and was worried about bowel obstruction. The nurse I spoke with told me the doctor had already seen her that day. I explained she did not have these symptoms when the doctor was there and she needed to be examined again.Later that evening, I called back and the nurse told me the doctor had ordered the X-ray she needed. I felt better and called the next day to see what the results were. It turns out the X-ray was done 18 hours later although it should have been ordered STAT because bowel obstruction is an emergency. My mother suffered all night because of pain and lack of sleep and no provider went to see her even after being told she might have a bowel obstruction. The radiologist called them about an hour later to let them know she did, in fact, have an obstruction. When I called to find out if they were sending her to the ER or directly admitting her, I was floored when the nurse told me they were planning on treating her in the rehab center.I said, “Absolutely not,” and insisted to speak with the doctor. They put me on the phone with the nurse practitioner who told me they planned to give her IV fluids, put her on a clear liquid diet and repeat the study. She said she had discussed the plan with the doctor and was comfortable with it. I argued with her that this is unacceptable and not standard of care and insisted they send her to the hospital. She finally said, “Okay,” if I insisted, which I did.FYI, under no circumstances should bowel obstruction EVER be managed outside of a hospital because patients need a CT scan to rule out perforation and make sure there is no dead bowel. They also need to be seen by the surgeons and gastroenterologists. In the ER, they found a partial bowel obstruction with diverticulitis, perforation and microabscesses. If someone had gone to see my mom when she first developed her symptoms or at least ordered the study STAT, I believe she would not have developed diverticulitis and perforation.Had I not asked for the X-ray and insisted they send her to the hospital, she very likely would have died from sepsis. Can you believe they were even resistant to ordering an X-ray?Do not do not do not do not do not send your family here. I can’t emphasize it enough. In my mother’s case, their staff demonstrated gross negligence and incompetence.

Jill Twining: Atria Park is truly amazing! The staff is attentive and plentiful, and friendly. :)Our loved one feels very secure and comfortable. The caring staff listens carefully to her concerns and helps find solutions. And, when I am visiting, they will update me and make sure we are satisfied. I’ve also noticed they will communicate with other staff members, to ensure excellent care.Variety of activities abound, with a vibrant recreational area and an engaging staff. The food is top notch, and you can meet the chef in person. The food servers will come and take orders in person, which has been truly appreciated. In the Ann Arbor area, Atria Park is truly a gem!
Jesse Soslow: We were planning to move my mother-in-law into Atria's memory care unit. We had gone through the entire process over the course of about 6 weeks. We signed a lease, completed a health assessment with their staff (in which we discussed care needs in deep detail), delivered them a check (which they cashed), and bought furniture that was to be delivered. The day before the furniture was scheduled for delivery, Atria let us know that they decided they could not support someone with type 1 diabetes and cancelled the signed lease. We did not hide the need for type 1 diabetes care from the beginning, and in fact it was a large part of the discussion, including at the in-home care assessment. Nevertheless, Atria said that someone from "corporate" determined they wouldn't be able to provide care.I would strongly advise against working with Atria. They have an apparent willingness to abandon families with no notice, including for things that they knew from the very first discussion. We were shocked by Atria's last-second decision, and we were left needing to start from the beginning with about 6 weeks of completely lost time.
Sharon Weiner: The Atria Staff in Ann Arbor have been amazing helping my Uncle transition in to Assisted Living. The staff goes above and beyond to care for the resident’s needs. I’m comforted knowing he is well taken care of I’m so grateful we found Atria!
Stacee Garcia: I have worked at this community for 4 years now. Our team is strong and I like the work environment that is Atria. Ann Abor is a small yet thriving community.
Rick Young: I have been working with Atria Park of Ann Arbor in the capacity of Senior Consultant and Franchise Owner of CarePatrol of Southern MI. Atria is one of a number of Senior Living/Care communities in our Provider Portfolio. I have been the CarePatrol Franchisee for Washtenaw County/Ann Arbor for the last 6 years. Over this time, I have been particularly impressed with the quality, expertise and knowledge of their management staff. Their management team works tirelessly to address any resident concerns and to ensure that their residents are receiving appropriate care while maintaining respect and dignity for all residents. Their Executive Director maintains an "open door policy" for all residents as she wants to address any resident issues with urgency. I have primarily interacted with their Sales & Marketing Director. She likewise is most professional and focuses on learning about the care needs and care amenities of a potential resident to ensure that Atria is the "right fit" for the resident and family. Atria also maintains high employee retention and loyalty through several innovative programs that provide educational assistance for employees. This has encouraged employee loyalty and reduced turnover. This is important in a senior living community as residents prefer to establish ongoing and lasting relationships with employees. Based on my experience as a Senior Consultant and Franchise Owner I give very high marks to Atria Park of Ann Arbor.
Brandi Stewart: Love the days I get to work in this community! The building is beautiful and inviting, the staff is helpful and friendly and the residents are thriving here. The activities / Life Enrichment team does such a great job at scheduling activities, entertainment and outings. I really just can't say enough about the great job this team does at caring for our communities elders. I am proud to be part of this team
Stephanie Zabinko: Great facility....residents are kept engaged and active. There are always activities such as exercise, music, parties and trips out of the building.
Daniel Matwiejczyk: I have lived at Atria for one year. It has been an enjoyable experience. I feel safe and comfortable. The employees are kind and caring. It is pleasant environment to live in. I am glad I am here.
Jack Irwin: Outstanding and truelycaring staff. Excellent environment with access to one of the greatest hospitals only one mile away. The hospital is not part of Atria but it is there.
Brad Amiot: A great place for your mom and/or dad.Been stopping in here for years and a lot of the staff has been the same. That tells me there's consistency, and a good management team.Brad
Saverio Diponio: This is a beautiful community with very friendly people! I highly recommend!
Martha Quenon: I appreciate Atria’s retention of good employees. It is heartwarming to see employees like Sherrie move from housekeeping to care staff to the front office. There are so many familiar faces (Diane, Craig, Bill, Carol...) who have been with Atria for a long time.I was pleasantly surprised that my mother managed the transition to Life Guidance so well. The first time I was able to visit her I discovered what made the transition so seamless. It was the presence of Monica. She had taken care of Betty on the second floor and just happened to have transferred to Life Guidance around the same time Betty moved to 4. Because Monica knew Betty’s routines and habits (showering, dressing, which necklace and shoes), Monica eased Betty into the routines of Life Guidance with cheerfulness and care.
Mary Isokpehi: Very peaceful, neat, pleasant people staffs. Good retirement senior living home.
Carol Jacobs: I have worked at Atria for almost 7 years, and I have enjoyed every minute. I get together to meet a lot wonderful people. The residents are the best.part of my job. They are all loving and caring and have so much to give.
Key H: It's a joy to work here! Great environment, staff, and residents. Really feels like a family and you can tell that everyone really cares for the residents and want the best for them. Beautiful atmosphere and surroundings, especially the lake behind the building.
Randall Kirsten: I love the environment I work in. All the staff and the residents are amazing!
Yousef Warsame: I can say as an Atria Residents Assistant Staff, that the best moments I ever enjoy is to draw joy and happiness on the residents’ faces , even if it is through simple daily details. The Residents suffered a lot during the Pandemic Quarantine period from being away from their families and loved ones. Our challenge was to work hard and go extra miles to make them enjoy the best times by making it possible to communicate with their families and friends through online technologies and arranging windows visits besides paying more attention about their feelings, hopes & simple life details. This had a great impact on reducing their feelings of loneliness and provide them with a warm life atmosphere in our facility. When I come to work every day, my main goal is how to convey and spread positive energy to our residents and my best achievement will be to draw a smile on their faces by end of the day. Thanks Atria for offering me such great opportunity to positively affect the lives of these people.
Achla Karnani: I own CaringTransitions Ann Arbor and we specialize in relocating seniors to senior communities. We have helped 4 clients move into Atria. McKenna and all the other staff (shoutout to Greg the maintenance guy!) are extremely helpful and do whatever is necessary to make the transition smooth. Everyone I have relocated has been very happy and wish they had made the move sooner!
Jennifer Engelhardt: My father-in-law (a retired physician) lived at Atria for 3 years following his stroke. He found community in the residents and staff. Atria’s Director, McKenna, runs a wonderful facility with compassionate staff.
Sharon Harr: When we were first searching for a “home” for my mother we were disheartened with our choices until we toured Atria. We have been so happy there. My mom is content and safe. She has made new friends and participated in so many fun activities! It is a small community which was important to us. They operate as a family from residents to staff! We have been most pleased with their great and varied activities led by an enthusiastic and caring staff member. The food is yummy! I have joined my mom for several meals. Mckenna, the Director has certainly gone the extra mile for us as we work out details regarding insurance and details. She always has a smile and truly cares and loves her residents and their families. Her door is always open and she is incredibly assessable. As my mother’s primary caregiver, I have been treated with respect and smiles from everyone - the maintenance crew, the nursing staff, the chef, the caregivers, servers, front desk employees. This means so much!Thank you Atria Park of Ann Arbor for loving your residents and treating them with such grace and integrity.

Balfour Ann Arbor: what do users think?
Stacy: My mother has lived there since it opened. She is so happy there. The food is truly exceptional and staff does their very best to meet the many demands of residents. The units and common areas are beautiful and the team does an excellent job with maintenance and cleanliness. Highly recommend!
garrett mccracken: I am a former employee fired for extremely just causes. During the time I was employed here I recognized serious issues under the surface (a seeming facade) with treatment of nurses and certain residents, but hopefully they have earned a 4 star rating from me within the mean time.Hopefully i have been proven wrong already about a possible 1 star.
Steve Pierce: Beautiful place to live. Like a luxury hotel.
Alena (Nely): Elegante y buenos servicios, buena atención a las enfermeras y trabajores de otras agencias
Christina K: Wonderful place! Amazing and caring staff. Absolutely Beautiful place!
Nancy Kennedy: The staff at Balfour has done everything that we have asked in a timely manner , making our move to Balfour a very pleasant experience.Everyone friendly and very helpful.
R. Keiver Schermerhorn: It's a beautiful place; management does a great job. Kitchen staff and chef are excellent. Best food around. It blows other independent living kitchens food away. I have a relative here.
Tara Lynn: Absolutely most beautiful Senior resident living I've ever seen. They have to much to offer residents.
Brad Amiot: Amazing staff . Great food. The whole atmosphere was wonderfully alive
Patti Sage: I recently had the opportunity to tour the Ann Arbor Balfour facility and was completely impressed. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and considerate. The facility is amazing. Attention has been paid to every detail to make your retirement life easy and comfortable. A truly fabulous place!
Erica Gilbert: As a former employee, I know the challenges a new senior living community can face. Unfortunately, because of changes in my personal life with my family, I was unable to continue my employment which I would’ve loved to be able to stay on board. I know the executive team has worked hard since opening to address many issues, taking responsibility for areas where they are lacking and continue to work to better the community as a whole. Even during a global pandemic, I know Executive Director Michael Scully continues to work tirelessly to put residents first. There are so many great amenities available to residents at Balfour Ann Arbor, including exceptional food from their top notch culinary team as well as a concierge/transportation team that is always ready and willing to accommodate all of the residents needs.
Logan Myers: Helped my grandmother move in over the summer. The place is gorgeous and has an awesome community. Very friendly and helpful staff!
David Walenga: Everything about the Balfour facility is top notch and exceeded my expectation of senior living. The staff, everyone from maintenance to sales and management, and the inclusive welcoming atmosphere really make the place special.
Jeanette Allen: I am so very appreciative of the care, dignity and respect that ALL of the staff demonstrates at Balfour Ann Arbor! I've spent quite a bit of time in the community over the last 18 moths, witnessing how caring this team is. The executive director, Michael, is a truly caring person, who has taken the health and safety of all residents extremely seriously during the pandemic. I could not be more grateful for this team. Keep up the great work Balfour Ann Arbor.
Al Solvay: + Employee turnover is high. Look atemployee remarks on indeed.com.+ They have been open a year and stillHave problems with doors functioningproperly, holes & ruts in the lawn surrounding the building, ice falling from the roof onto the porch. Now they posted sign “Be careful when walking on lawn naturally uneven surface”+ Very expensive+ Balfour does not like to spend money on anything+ Very arrogant management+ There customer is the investors+ Residents in assisted livingsometimes have to wait 10 to 60minutes for assistance afterpushing a call button. I believe thisIs due to short staffing.+ When I make suggestions forimprovements I get noacknowledgement or reaction. I have been waiting 9 months.for an answer. The answer was a sign that says “walk safely naturally uneven lawn
Todd Carter: My daughter works here. It is an amazing place.
Gabriel Canizales: Ohhhh primera calidad todo ,10 puntos en todos los servicios que ofrecen para las personas mayores,se lo recomiendo a todos los que puedan
BRIAN S: Beautiful retirement community with great friendly service
Carolyn Edwards: Maybe the owner should pay the people who built this facility! It's been over a year and we are stilled owed money for our services as a subcontractor. Over a million dollars is stilled owed to many hard working companies that made this place as beautiful as it is! What a disgrace of an owner!!!!
Heather Fry: Current leadership is horrible, at the Ann Arbor location. The Assistant ED won't return personal items after making several calls and sending texts. Michael sent the items four months later only after one of the residents said something to him about it. The walls are not soundproof but they will tell you they are. They will tell you the pool is a salt water pool, but it's not. Balfour Ann Arbor upper management is hypocritical and cowardly. They do the SAME EXACT thing they fire people for. The aesthetics are beautiful, but if you have inconsistent leadership you have nothing! DO NOT trust the leadership at this community. Whether you are looking to get a job or looking for a new home. This is a FOR PROFIT company. That right there should say it all.
Michele White: Former EmployeeBy far the BEST job I’ve ever had from management to the residents I LOVED it !! I departed ways because my husband got a job offer in another state otherwise I would still be at Balfour Ann Arbor.!! My last day was very emotional I walked out to my car crying because I’ll miss this place so much .! I highly recommend this beautiful place as a place to live. Also if you're looking to work here.
