When we were planning our wedding and looking for entertainment, we happened to ask our photographer (Jill DeVries, also amazing!) if she could recommend an amazing DJ to us. She told us Derek from the Block Party DJ’ed HER wedding and everyone was on the dance floor all night. Knowing that’s exactly what we wanted, we contacted Derek for a meeting and immediately following our very first conversation, we knew we had to hire him. He was so warm, listened to our ideas/what we wanted sincerely, and left us feeling so pumped up for our big day and how epic it was going to be! Even throughout our whole wedding planning experience, Derek was always so quick to answer a text or email, like talking to a friend. I mean… he’s just an amazing person!! As a DJ, Derek has incredible taste, deep passion for what he does, and has so much expertise. He is also amazing at reading the room, can seamlessly weave songs together, and gives every part of the night the atmosphere it calls for. So long story short, we cannot recommend Derek highly enough. We’d be the luckiest to be able to be on another one of his dance floors!

They were great at getting to know us and our style and preferences, so they could customize the playlists to us and our specific wedding. First of all, he's unique and different with the vinyls...it is really cool that he does things this way and a slight difference from other weddings we've gone to! Secondly, he will create mixes perfectly for you - we requested some weird stuff and he made it sound amazing! Thirdly, he is SO easy to work with and responsive, he worked with our timeline, all of the rooms he needed to set up in, made it easy for payments to be made, and also even moved our wedding once due to the pandemic and had no qualms doing so. Lastly, he plays great music and makes it a PARTY! I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great time.

Val Kory: Wes DJ'ed for our wedding in October, and he was AMAZING. These guys seriously know what they're doing, and working with Wes to finalize everything before the wedding was so much fun. We got married at a venue with some pretty cool Motown music history, and he was able to use that influence really beautifully throughout cocktail hour especially, and into the rest of the night. We also had a long list of guest requests that he did a great job sorting through and incorporating in a way that flowed with the vibe all night. Plus, even just Wes's personal energy and vibe was so great at our wedding; we knew we were in great hands, AND it felt like having another friend there at the DJ booth. Totally recommend!
