Michael Bagazinski: Backyard brains has an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful staff and is the place I go to first when shopping for all of my arduino and raspberry pi projects
John McCuen: I love Backyard Brains! Truly a visionary owner doing great thing to promote neuroscience.
Jason Miller: I just got my Arduino EEG/EKG/EMG spiker shield and it's beyond awesome! This company is wonderful. Packaging was great, accessories were great, and I'm putting their stickers on my laptop and car. Love 'em!
Abay Bektursun: Amazing company!
Aidan Snell: Bottom Line: Open-source learning and DIY neuroscience projects, amazing idea and fantastic execution.--All of these people leaving one star reviews are apparently so concerned with the issues of the rights of a cockroach that they've managed to overlook the significance of what this group has accomplished. Genuinely accessible open-source neuroscience technology, opening the doors to at-home learning for a rapidly expanding field. I've used their projects myself, they function wonderfully and are perfectly easy to use. I hope to see more groups like this in the near future.
Florian Beeres: I am not a fan of cockroaches either, but the message that the RoboRoach Kit sends to kids is still horrible. If you guys really want to promote studying the brain, try it without permanently damaging who- or whatever the brain belongs to.
Shari Welsh: In this society where violence and cruelty to animals is rampant this is like evil and makes me sick.
Beth Zillmer: Robot cockroach kits?!! Aw, come on!!! Do we really need to teach kids to torture animals? REMOVE FROM YOUR SHELVES!!!
Eth Enzo: Great technology and ideas. Really going to help schools with the field of neuroscience!
Ann Arbor: Cool neuroscience kits! Great for fun educational activities. They are also heavily involved in the maker community within Ann Arbor.
Charlie Taylor: These folks are awesome. They supply easy-to-use hardware at a great price and lots of written support on their web site. They also are great people, deeply committed to open-source learning.

Ellen Powers: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING. Worst customer service ever. I ordered two drying racks from School Specialty Canada in June in good faith (confirmed the details of the products from their website on the phone). They were not delivered until September (even though we arranged for immediate shipping release.) When they were not as described, I was told the unopened one could be returned (minus shipping/restocking) and then I have been chasing them ever since to pick up the rack – this is going on 6 months!! Every time I call I get a new random and changing excuse. Emails are replied with a generated response and then a real person replies a month later that they are working on it. THIS FEELS LIKE A SCAM. Save yourself the headache, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I will be sharing this news broadly, so no one makes this mistake.
Evan Surbrook (Evan Surbrook): great place!
