University of Michigan Hospital Emergency Room: what do users think?
Laurie Sollund: Horrible place, tiny, filthy and hours and hours of waiting time even for a heart patient. Do yourself a favor and go to Henry Ford or drive to Cleveland because even after you'd be done there, you'd still be waiting here
Fowler Resident: Waited 6 hours to finally be seen by the DR. Waiting in the front lobby was a nightmare. Patients screaming, cursing, police officers in and out. I felt bad for the staff, I can’t imagine enduring that daily. The wait was really long. However, the ER staff in the back were phenomenal from the nurses, techs, and DR’s. I think this could be a fantastic ER as they have the talent - they just need to invest in expanding the waiting areas and maybe adding another entrance for the prisoners and people coming in on stretchers. Could cut down on some of the chaos.
Dana Cook: I can not say enough good things about the staff at university of Michigan’s Emergency Room. I’m not sure who oversees it but, they are doing an exceptional job. From the time we entered, the receptionist was kind and polite yet, very efficient. There were a lot of elderly in the waiting room that day and the staff came and got them and they were very gentle and kind with them. They held their bags as they walked or brought them back in their wheel chairs, at the same time easing their minds and calming them with light conversation. This was so amazing to see these young clinicians caring.Once we were brought to The room our nurses Marion, Merriam and Maria were very kind, compassionate, and put you at ease knowing you were being taken care of. The PA’s were well trained and came in prepared and you know they had read the patients history. They were also quick to bring the specialists in and they all worked well together. They not only took great care of our son but , went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of as well. In over 23 years of frequent ER visits I have never seen an ER staff get it right until our visit to UofM.
jexica murano: I've been waiting for a room and to see the doctor from 10:00pm and it's going on 3:49 in the morning and I'm still sitting in the hallway
Ahmed Al: Father got transferred from Marshall’s emergency care center to UofM got there and waited over 9 hours to get checked in and he was transferred in an ambulance. This is by far the worst experience and hospital ever. People laying down in the hallways felt like I was walking through a homeless alley.
TULAL ALSHOHATEE: We been waiting more than 8 hours at the ER this not acceptable
Deborah Samonek: This hospital ER has gone down drastically !!! There were fifteen people at the desk when you walk in. Fourteen of them was standing in a huddle talking and laughing. I found it to be that way throughout the emergency. They did not have many patients the 7 hours I was there. So they should have been able to give you undivided attention. To figure out what was wrong with you. Blood tests and send you down the road llll I will never return there again they don't even run tests on you!!! They just want to get you out the door that is no exaggeration whatsoever. This isn't a mad review. It's a disappointed one. I will spread the word just like I did when I thought they were great.
John Fleming: I went in there in pain, sat in there for 7 hours in pain, and I left in pain. The entire staff exhibited a complacent attitude and didn’t do anything to help me. I’ve been there for the same issue several times, because they’re the ones who originally diagnosed my celiac artery issue. Now they say it’s not my celiac artery that’s the issue, but they don’t know what it is🙄. If you need help, go somewhere else. They clearly only care about charging up your insurance
C: Sent home and labelled a faker, when I actually had a blood clot in my kidney they missed the diagnosis. I was thrown out in a wheelchair at midnight alone without any ride home. I live an hour drive. My neurologist ordered the correct testing and found I was actually suffering from a blood clot that killed my kidney.
Lorena Dosti: Horrible experience both of the last time I went there for the same reason … very racist and hateful and judgmental .. waited 7 over hours and still was not seen by a doctor at all!!!! kept being lied to by nurses who once I page for them would tell me the clerk didn’t notify her .. the clerk would say she is not answering than after starving for 7 hours she gave me a pork sandwich, during Ramadan, even tho I told her I’m Muslim so no pork please and my chart says so as well.. I was not given pain meds for over 4 hours as I dealt w kidney stones and other issues at the same time… I’d give this place a -10 if possible .. not sure what happened u of m but you are turning into a mud whole .. it’s inhumane the way you treat non-whites …
Chyna Knowles: Horrible place. So sad how they run the adult ER considering how good they are with children.. I am amazed & it definitely gives me a different version of U of M that's forsure. Lazy Dr's. On this side. Homeless people sleeping in the lobby. Spent over 10 Hrs here to get nothing not even seen. Shame on you to hold yourself so high and mighty but run the adult side this way.
M: I came here upon the insistence of my PCP due to a fall resulting in excruciating pain, progressive numbness in my feet and weakness in my legs. The nurse is very dismissive and refuses to speak to the doctor about my excruciating pain. She rolls her eyes. Based on my MRI, my doctor pleaded with me to come to this ER. I feel completely dismissed and humiliated. It was a major mistake to come to this hospital ER. I cannot believe how rude, indifferent and disrespectful this nurse is. I’m going to leave AMA because I honestly don’t trust this nurse’s clinical judgement. She doesn’t respond even after I fell leaving the bathroom. I’ll be reporting her to the state’s licensing board.
Matt Larsen: Place is a joke 3 people in the waiting room and four hours of waiting for nothing, I wouldn't wish this disgusting place on my worst enemy, this place isn't where you want to get seen. Worst experience ever!!!
Gillian Lanigan: Took my teenager for extreme gastric pain and shortness of breath. She was told to stop removing her mask even though she stated multiple times she couldnt breathe. We were told Gastro would be coming in to evaluate, they never showed. They gave her stomach meds (essentially pepto) then the ER doc told her she needed more sleep and this was all sleep related. She was released after that, in tears, feeling like no one listened to her. She was then diagnosed with GERD with a different provider, NOT sleep related, at all.
Steve Cosby: I wouldn't go anywhere else, but UofM
Angamazin m: The only good thing in the ER is the nursing staff & regular workers. Any physician or P.A. which is what you get now in the emergency at this hospital is so undereducated (or it's a complete lack of care at this point) in anything complicated, such as lupus, that you are putting your life at stake. I was given pain meds I'm allergic to (torodol) and told since it's in I.V form I'll be fine. Was totally ignored on the issues I came in about. I have an inflammatory chest wall mass due to pericarditis, p.a Colleen Grassley insisted I wear my bra too tight!!! Even when I cried and explained I haven't been able to wear one due to pain for a year. Then lied on the notes. Be sure to check the notes of your visit after being in the E.R.You might be surprised what these people bother to even note. They should just put the nurses in charge, or take the lead from them.
Deb Mcneil: From check in to discharge this experience was great! Quick response and care when I needed it most!! All staff was friendly and attentive and made a great team!! I cant thank you enough Michigan Medicine adult emergency!!!!! You guys are the best!!!
M Lee: I waited in the dirty ER waiting room for 9 hours with my husband! He had chest pains and they took people in better condition before him. The Waiting room staff were very loud and rude (especially those doing “security checks”). They took my husband’s blood work and his vitals in the ER waiting room in front of everyone! They were actually taking everyone’s vitals every 2 hours in the waiting room where everyone could see and hear each others results. When he was finally seen and treated by a doctor it was in a hallway where there were 2 other patients nearby who were waiting to see a doctor as well. It was the worst ER experience we both have ever had and we’ve been to several hospitals. I’m honestly shocked and disappointed. I had expected more from a hospital that has such a great reputation.
Patsy Epperson: Waiting time is extremely long.short staffed, crowed and not very clean. Better off going somewhere else.
Flo: Been here in the office for 6 hours and I had to go find someone to give me materials to wash my own open wound. Waiting on stitches, but nobody knows when that will happen. I'm not even in the lobby, I'm already in a room waiting for a doctor.Edit: after 6ish hours a nurse came to see if I had gotten my stitches yet. I'm very confident they forgot about me. I ended up seeing the doctor after 8 hours. They let a student administer the lidocaine, but it squirted out because it was her first time. I got 5 stitches without anesthesia.
Harley Nostrovia: It's like a homeless camp up here. People are sleeping on the floor. An elderly man has waited 10 hours to be seen. This is where you go to die. You should be embarrassed to call yourself a hospital. Also arrested screaming people are being seeing first.

VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System Emergency Room: what do users think?
Ed Paulus: Awesome!!
Chris Schmidt: Bit of advice, if you’re in distress and Morgan is the triage nurse(allegedly), DO NOT bother to ask her for help as you will never even get triaged, terrible experience with no compassion..
Elizabeth Dudley: This was the most positive ER visit I have ever experienced. Early Wednesday morning I rushed my spouse to the VA ER Ann Arbor. He was experiencing severe right lower abdominal pain a 10/10. He is not a whiner and has an extremely high pain tolerance. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and registered by a nice ER receptionist and immediately triaged by Joe RN. Joe saw to it they my husband was seen promptly by the medical staff and was quickly treated and diagnosed. He was given a warm blanket by the staff member who drew his blood and just this small act of kindness helped with the pain. Dr Burns came in and treated my husband a whole person and provided exceptional care. Dr Burns even called after discharge to follow up with my husband and provide follow care recommendations. The ER is spotless and beautiful. The staff is amazing. We will definitely be using this as our ER if we never need care. Keep up the great work. You all set the standard for excellence.
Team Minney: If you need any actual help don’t even bother. I was wheeled down by a patient advocate AFTER my doctors appointment because he refused to write anything STAT for ultrasound or MRI for my SHOULDER. This visit was my 4th for the same excruciating issue. They finally gave me an MRI (insert help from patient advocates), but did it in my NECK instead of my SHOULDER.*****************Update*******************After my NINTH doctor visit I finally found an answer! It wast from this hospital. This hospital and ER Misdiagnosed and dismissed me SEVERAL times. They also had the proof and images showing what was wrong with me and still put me through unnecessary imaging and let me suffer. They said they read my results of imaging and I was fine. I have my results and they were BEYOND wrong. We expect proper care but they can’t even read!!!These doctors were letting me live in extreme agony for no reason. They made my issue worse and have prolonged my healing time. Went to Florida to get assistance (my aunt took care of me) because I couldn’t care for myself and the VA there in Tampa had answers in less than an hour.If you have another choice don’t use the VA in Ann Arbor and I pray for you that you find one like they have in Tampa. I hate that medical care for those who have sacrificed so much is the poorest healthcare we have around!
Audrey Pumfrey: Everyone seemed nice except one nurse she was always complaining about sick people well first it’s a hospital e r room people come here cause they sick so if you don’t want to be here go home and hide in your house everyone else was great wish I had her name cause she is horrible
Cynthia Kang: Went in for appt have been in since October 2031
Brian Cylkowski: Excellent care as always
Karen Chandler: Very respectful, took good care of my husband.
Dave Thomas: Cause 9 times out of 10 they help

C.S. Mott Children's Hospital Emergency Room: what do users think?
T Tyson: I've been to Children's Hospital of Michigan Troy ER and Beaumont Pediatrics Royal Oak ER, so I have experienced other pediatric ERs. This was my worst experience.Based on my child having a head injury the urgent care suggested we go to the ER. In the future it will truly need to be a matter of life and death for me to visit here. Long wait time. Slow service. 2.5 hr wait to be placed on a bed in the hallway and felt forgotten about. The nurse was nice and offered to give us snacks and assured us the physician was coming. 2hrs later we saw the physician. They didn't run any test. They simply said what may be wrong gave us a script and said if we didn't see progress in 3 days follow up with a physician. We waited another hour for discharge papers.
Ashley Archey: How does such a big hospital take 8 hours to do absolutely nothing I hate this place
Destiny Carr: Awesome place very organized clean great staff fast and helpful just overall a perfect place
Kelly Cotton: My cardiac son has sat in here today for 9 hours. Nothing has been done except blood work. Several nurses and docs have come in saying we are doing this or giving that and have not returned to do so. It seems tonight the left doesn't know what the right is doing. I have had to repeat his list of 15 meds four times to four diff people who are looking at the confirmed list in the computer. We had a guy come in to do an EEG for epilepsy which Ed do not have. Wrong room, but thanks for telling me that patients name. I'm always and forever a U of M fan, but tonight my disappointment in this ER is major. It makes me sad the one place we have always been able to come with our son, seems to be a bit of a mess.
Taylor Cronenwett: I will always go out of my way to make sure my son receives his care at Motts. Hands down always the best experience. The Drs are knowledgeable, & the Drs and staff are always so friendly & helpful with children. There system & procedures are nothing like the half of care you receive at Henry Ford. Thank you Mott's for everything you do for children!
Jason Czarny: We got put in a hallway ER bed right next to soiled utility. There were biohazard carts rolling past us for hours. Little victors don't deserve this treatment! With the millions they make, they can't even get real rooms or a competent management to not put patients in a hallway next to a soiled utility room!
Sam J: This place is a waste of time if you have a serious emergency. I don’t leave reviews but I have to for this situation because a ER is serious and people should know what happens here. If your in no real hurry and the problem is not to serious then they might be okay. I waited over 5 hours starting at 1:30am and we only bothered them twice because we thought they forgot about us, and after 5 hours they couldn’t even give us a slight update so we knew at that time we had to leave. A little common courtesy would of been all we needed. For a ER, it was definitely a mess and the waiting room was empty.
katey crellin: I have nothing but wonderful things to say about CS Mott ER. My daughter broke her arm and we were so happy with the care we received. We were in and out of there in 3 hours they did not waste our time. We were discharged with a ortho consult placed and ortho called the very next day to schedule an appointment and got us in quickly. I was so impressed and happy everything. I will tell everyone to take their children here!
Usman Ahmed: Had to take our 2 year old today. Entire staff from entrance to the doctors were amazing. They were prompt, made the diagnosis, treated, and reassured us. Hope we never have to take a sick child to the ER again but if we did I wouldn’t go to any other place other than Michigan Medicine
Elham Nosrat: Awful management! 6 hours in waiting room with a sick 10 months old.
Angamazin m: We have been waiting 4 hrs and have not even gone back yet. There are people ahead of us who haven't either. This is just dangerous. The waiting room has not been cleaned. It has overfilled. At this point everyone in here has passed each others germs to each other. You can't do better for children??
Sarah Winowiecki: As a nurse, myself, I have a pretty realistic view of how the healthcare system flows when you're in it. I brought in my 6-month-old daughter in at 10:30 at night on a Thursday for an eye injury from her brother poking her eye with the end of a fishing rod. The waiting room did not seem very full and they got me in very quickly to a room due to the nature of the injury. We got our discharge papers and left the hospital by about 2:45 or 3:00 a.m. The nurses and doctors were very kind and respected my wishes not to wake the baby up when I finally got her to sleep for a bit for vital signs. Overall I had a much better experience than I thought if I were to go off of the other reviews that I looked at. I was very happy.
Aurora Beqiri Kuta: The best hospital in Michigan 💯%
Yousef Farraj: Do NOT go to the children's ER. 8 hours is a short wait time. Unbelievable that such a great hospital has a such an awful ER. It has to be by design. They can't turn away ER patients which means they have to work with either no insurance or poorly reimbursed insurance. Their business model is showing...
Karina Smith: Staff is very nice. Horrible wait times. One time we waited 5 hours in waiting room and gave up. Next time 4 hours in waiting room and 2 hours in room. Pretty sure the valet smoked next to or in my car. I have four kids car seats in there!! Not impressed at all. Horrible organization and understaffed.
Margarita M.: Checked in around 5pm and nurses, respiratory therapists and doctors are very nice and caring. Around 6am we were told we will be transferred to a room, it’s 6pm and we are still waiting so still in the ER. My son has been in continuous treatment with no breaks and no food. Is this normal treatment for asthma?🤔🤔🤔
Corinne Carter: My symptoms and pain have never been ignored here. Everyone is so nice and have always done everything they could to ensure my comfort and a speedy recovery. At the children’s emergency, children are listened to like adults and treated with respect.
Jennifer Zhang: Poor very poor ,nothing help, makes me feel bad, total waste copies and really bad .
Eddie Rivera: UofM Children’s Emergency needs to set higher standards for themselves. I understand that they are busy and have a lot of patients to see, but for me there is no excuse for making a newborn baby wait eight hours to be seen, especially in an emergency room. Nobody, and I mean nobody was moving with a sense of purpose. Like I said, they need to set higher standards for themselves.
Cassandra Searcey: I have taken my son here twice: once for croup In the middle of the night and also for a leg injury. The staff is wonderful, private rooms and amazing doctors.
Janna Nanana: it's so sad i can't give them 0 stars! i hate this place!!!my daughter is suffered for 1 year and until now. We went to emergency because of high fever but one of the nurse/doctor poked my daughter's eardrum and got so much blood and there is a hard blood and earwax on her ear that they can't take it out! they didn't even told me that they poke her eardrum until i asked them because i saw it on my ear flashlight that there is a scab inside her ear. The worst experience ever!!!!horrible place!

St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Emergency Room: what do users think?
Diaviana Gilliam: This by far the worst emergency room ever!!! The staff are rude, you are waiting for 4+ hours to be seen and others go before you after they just walked in, and the waiting room is a complete mess. Trash is left over, dirty blankets and more. If I can give a Zero rating I would.
Adnan M: We waited 2 hours to get a room in the ER. That’s normal I guess.6+ hours to get a CT scan for a cancer patient complaining of abdominal pain. That’s fine too.We waited 2 more hours for someone to go over the results with us. Still no doctor. Busy hospital I guess….again that’s ok.A patient came in 20 minutes ago complaining of headache. He was seen by Dr. Prepejchal, the same doctor assigned to us that we have NOT seen yet. This was the breaking point. The CT scan was already negative and we just needed to be told to go home.I spoke with our nurse Steve and he pointed out a bunch of doctors that are also capable of giving us the results. But yet no doctor still. Odd how much math is required for these doctors to compute a negative CT scan…but I digress.Steve was a lil bit defensive during this interaction. Then afterwards, I overheard him speaking with Dr. P about how we want to leave and her response was also defensive. Something along the lines of “that man was 80 years old”. Well my mom is 75 and what does age matter. 2+ hours to tell us to go home is unreasonable.Maybe it’s discrimination. Maybe it’s incompetence. One thing is for sure… 0 accountability. After the CT scan I was told it would be at most 30 minutes before we see a doctor. I didn’t get up to speak with anyone until 2 hours later. And even then I was treated as if I was impatient and unreasonable. If I didn’t ask to be discharged I would have probably waited 2 more hours.Don’t usually have this issue with St. Joes. My standards for ER's are very low. I’m not disillusioned to believe the ER experience should be great. But even with this low bar, it was just a bad bunch today across the board. And no excuse for Prepejchal to be unprofessional.
Yu Shangguan: My dad was there twice for the last 2 weekends. He got great care for both visits. Thanks to all of the nurses, doctors, and medical staff in ER and hospital, they offer high-quality care to all patients. I believe that patients with really serious conditions would be treated immediately when got there, like my dad had trouble breathing, and his age was over 90. And most of the diagnosis takes time. So be patient. The doctor and nurse tried their best. They are awesome!
Nicole: Took my girlfriend in for endless panic attacks that are causing crying, suicidal thoughts, chest pain, body pain, and sleep deprivation. They got so bad she needed emergency care. These people did nothing. They brushed her off as if it was just everyday anxiety we all go through and that they had better things to do. Once they found out she lived in a nearby state, she was treated as if she wasn't worthy of care other than to "talk to a social worker." If they would have asked, they would have known she had been calling hotlines all weekend. To top it all off, the mental health room they put her in was filthy, complete with a dirty, ratty sock on the bed. If I could 0 stars I would.
Kellyreddy327 reddy: Waited 11 hours laid in the hall had ekg no privacy old equipment ct scan horrible
Kurtis Rosen: Triage staff and front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. PA wasn’t that helpful either, but the nurses were very kind and did a great job.
Pitic Regele: Benajamin Lee is an absolutely incredible doctor
M Arbuckle: If I could give it negative starts I would. Very uneducated Drs about any type of disorder. Does not ask about what is diagnosed just does stupid decisions that make absolutely no sense at all. Putting COVID positive ppl in hallways and exposing others to it. Also has no respect for parents who are educated when it comes to their children. Total disgrace as a hospital
Aiyana Optababoon Puckwas: I am still in the waitingroom and the staff I have already encounteredleave something to be desired. They lack professionalism and they seemed to be bothered by patients. The triage nurse was very rude and jammed the thermometer probe into my mouth and hurt the back of my mouth. I tried to talk to her but she kept on cutting me off. Extremely unprofessional!!!! I will definitely be making a formal complaint against the nurse who triaged me. Once I. The back, the nurses and doctor were absolutely amazing! Very caring and compassionate! Definitely different than when I first came in.
Garrett Doyle: Arrived at 1:30 in the morning. It is now 3:30 in the morning. I have had my vitals taken twice, and nothing else. Wondering if I should just try to solve my medical emergencies on my own rather than coming here.Of note: the only progress in the line has been people giving up and leaving.
FattyDurian: Don't come here at night if you value your life. The ignorance and stupidity of the staff here is outright dangerous, beside that they'll sooner throw you out with an insult instead of helping you.
Torin Christie: Upon walking into the ER I was immediately concerned at the large number of people in the waiting room.
L O R: When Urgent Care West Arbor found a 6-inch long blood clot in my husband's (DH's) leg, they sent us over to the ER immediately. They called ahead. When we got there, they were waiting for us, and checked DH in. I parked in Lot U, which is very close to the small ER parking lot and that was convenient.Yes. We waited. We waited in a nice room with well-distanced seating and miles of space between one side of the room and the other. There were a few areas where you couldn't avoid sitting close to somebody else, but just a few.Everyone from registration to discharge was calm, patient, and kind to us. Big kudos to everybody working there!!! We were put in a separately curtained off pod of several pods in an outer hallway of the ER. Mo, a tech assistant (I don't know her title) explained things to us very well, even as she was prepping DH for a blood draw. Later, with another group, I heard her say she was going to apply a splint. The woman in charge of keeping track of people and getting paperwork and tracking down doctors was so personable and nice. I did not find out her name, though. The Nurse Practitioner, Burke, seemed to be assigned to assess and counsel each group in those pods on our side. He was the one who talked to the patients, went and found the right people to work with a case, coordinated other care I can only guess at, and ordered medications. As you can tell, though, there seems to be a staff shortage. We were there about 8 hours. We had to wait for results of a blood draw and a scan and a conference and had to take our place in the queue. Everyone was wearing masks. I had no problem feeling safe in there.DH got starter meds that night and we picked up his prescription, called in by Burke, the NP, the next day.The myChart Patient Portal makes it easy for us to check the notes to find out test results and refresh our memories about what was being done.I am grateful for the ways they helped us a couple of days ago. I don't envy them one bit. I am amazed at how well they work together as a team and at how even-tempered and competent they all are. Thank you, St. Joe's ER team!
Ana De La Cruz: If you have a serious life threatening emergency, do not go here. Even after being told I have severe gastrointestinal bleeding, it took an hour in the waiting room and I walked out. This has happened before with me and my kids. One time, my son was bleeding from a deep cut on his hand. We still waited over an hour to be seen.
Ashley Couch: Worst experience with a ER! Staff lazy and more worried about gossip than actually providing care. The place was messy and dirty ! Staff did.not wear gloves and acted like they did not care. The staff complained how horrible the place was to work !! Go somewhere else !!
Joe W.: It's a cesspool. No one in registration seems to care how many coughing and wheezing folks aren't wearing masks in the waiting room.
David Colvin: If I could do 0 stars I would. We had one nurse that was incredible and one Dr that was amazing but we showed up in the ER at 9:45pm. Was set in a bed out in the hallway for half the night then put in a room and barely checked on for a total of 19 hours before telling us that they couldn't do the procedure we came in for because the doctor that was suppose to do it walked out before his workload was done. Scheduled us for an appointment and wondered if we wanted to stay the night again or go home and come back. I qould not recommend coming here if you can help it since we could've gone without the pain and suffering of those long hours sitting there and almost 24 hours without sleep.
jesse price: *0 stars ...everytime ...for my entire life.
Susan Anderson: i had the best ER experience after recently dislocating my hip for 3rd time. The orthopedic resident reduced it in the ER emergently, unlike my experience Ascension Novi ER.Ascension did not even call in orthopedic resident, i had to wait 25 hrs with a dislocated hip!!I was well taken care of at Trinity Health ER in Ypsilanti on 11.19.22!❤️
Rebecca Abualrub: Don’t even deserve a 1 star.. DONT COME TO THIS ER… Horrible horrible place.
Pure Stoner: Other than the horribly long wait the doctor made sure me and my unborn child were safe. I got prescribed the right meds and she made sure I felt comfortable.
