Nathaniel Franklin: This was my first time at an escape room and this was really fun. The puzzles were just hard enough to keep you thinking the whole time and the theming was also great. I would recommend this for a group and you definitely want no less than 6 people. I'll be checking out their location in Ypsilanti as well!

Allen Li: Great escape room, the staff are wonderful and knowledgeable. The escape rooms themselves are immersive and modern. The puzzles are fairly straightforward for the room we tried and are a great place to start for those not as familiar with puzzles. Would highly reccomend!

Emily Claricoates: We recently visited decode with my whole family for a fun activity while we were together for the holiday. It was an amazing experience! The puzzles were so clever and most were new for us (we have done probably 60+ escape games). We had my dad who has a walker and my 10 month old nephew and we were able to make that work with both of them.Janice was also fantastic!! She was such a great game master/host! We chatted with her a bunch after and she was so enthusiastic and happily walked us through and puzzles we had questions about!100% would recommend!!

Schmooks19: We had reserved a room at 8:45, and on the way to this location we had gotten a flat tired called the desk and she was so helpful and worked things out with us. We ended up being a lil later than the scheduled time and help us choose a better room to better utilize our time we had left before they closed and she was so nice and so great to us. We're so grateful for her understanding and her helping us enjoy our escape room even more, especially since it was my friends birthday and was joking around with us the whole time. 12/10 would do again and would highly recommend. We also saved tiny with a few minutes left to spare.

I was called a “little bitch” and was told they wanted to pull me by the hair and bring me out of the room. nic walicki: If you want all the joy sucked out of you this is the place to go. We have played escape rooms all over the country and this was by far the worse one we have done. When we entered the room there was no clear starting point as is normal in these games. When we asked for hints throughout the game it too a long time to get a response. We wasted 15 minutes on one puzzle that didn’t make sense even with the supposed “hint”. We completely guessed after not getting any help. Hints seemed very vague and we often got the same hint after asking again because the first hint wasn’t clear. Puzzles were also not connected logically with each other. Worst game master we have ever had. She was actually rude to my teens saying we’re being loud after having to beg for hints. (They we’re just being silly, guess they didn’t like fun? Also no one else was at the establishment) We have never been treated that way and it was a total kill joy on the whole experience which was already frustrating. It would have also been nice to see how the game ended. She acted like she was going to show us the end but then she showed us out even though the building was empty and we still had 40 seconds left. It’s called clueless because this establishment needs to get a clue.

Our guide Margaret was great and super accommodating when our travel plans didn’t work as we wanted them to. 10/10 would recommend!

Louie Chen: One of the coolest escape rooms I've been to! The care and attention to detail was very apparent. We did The Library and it was just the right amount of challenge with two people. Jordan was very attentive in answering our questions about the game and we even got a little gift since it was my birthday. Highly recommend!

levi houk: This is the fourth escape room I’ve been to in a 30 mile radius. Decode Ypsilanti is the best of all. It is very well thought out. It is challenging, yet still attainable. They also clearly spent a good amount of money on creating this adventure. Dana hosted well and is an excellent guide/caretaker.

T. Aldridge: Had a blast team building with my coworkers. This was a great local spot to do this. Our host Dana was excellent with giving us directions. Her acting skills were on point lol. Will definitely return and try the other rooms.

Brock DeAngelo: Having Decode as my first experience in an escape room might have set myself up for disappointment for every other subsequent one as the bar is now through the roof! My friend, visiting from out of town who is a veteran in escape rooms, was equally impressed, and lamented that he would not be able to trial their full gambit of rooms, already considering a long weekend trip just to visit. Plus, I love being able to support local families who's passion shows clearly in their work

Natalie Cizmas: My family and I did the Aurora Society in Ypsilanti, and we had an amazing time. We've done at least 12 different escape rooms, and this was overall the most fun experience we've had. Our games master was so much fun and made us feel so immersed in the game. The puzzles were so creative and nothing like anything we have done before. We went to this room for my birthday, and all of the positive reviews were entirely accurate. Our games master was truly so entertaining and helpful.

Ryan Souder: We had a great time doing the Aurora Society room with a group of six. Everything was really well made and our guide was great. A fun selection of different puzzles to split up and work on. Highly recommended!

chuck lowe: We did the Pirate's Curse on May 19. It is dated and in poor condition. Clues written on cloth were so worn out that some were illegible and therefore impossible to solve. The electronics were in poor condition so much so that they didn't register when we solved the clue, and we couldn't get the next clue. (The staff is aware as our guide said "that happens a lot". A trunk that was supposed to open, didn't. A cannon moved into place failed to trigger the proper mechanism. Poor storyline. Poor lighting requiring use of our own iphones in order to read and solve. Poor speaker system which was difficult to hear, followed by continuous noise that made it difficult for us to communicate. Further, when we showed up, they didn't even have our reservation. We've been to many escape rooms, and this was the worst. The staff was friendly enough, but this room needs to be retired or repaired.

Karie McMahon: The room had a finicky puzzle that the GM didn't tell us about, and we spent a lot of time on. Then there was a second puzzle that didn't work at all. When the GM came in afterwards, he just kept saying it had worked for the people before us, but even he couldn't get it to work (I asked him to show us). When we asked what he could do for us, he just said "We don't give refunds." He said he would have his manager call me Monday, but it's Tuesday now, and I haven't heard from them. This is particularly disappointing because it was my nephew's 12th birthday present, and it ended up being a waste of time and $150. The room didn't work, and they did nothing to even try to make it up to us.

Danielle Valdez: I Have done many escape rooms and this is the 1st place that I have been to that has been so welcoming, great rooms, the adventure was amazingly awesome and the worker that was there Micah was the best worker that I have seen. All other escape rooms that I've been to was rude and rushed us. She was nice, she was funny, helpful and she just made our experience that much more greatEspecially since I have a family member visiting from out of state. My family remember my cousin that is visiting was her very 1st escape room. Micah thank you so much for giving her such an awesome opportunity last night. We had so much fun and definitely going back until i do all rooms. Anybody that wants to go to an escape room go to this one, you will not be disappointed. Ask for Micah shes amazing.

Theresa: The escape room my group did, the casino heist, was a lot of fun and had plenty of puzzles. the puzzles provide a good challenge and every time one is completed was rewarding. The game master, Mika(unsure of spelling), was fantastic and gave great hints when we got stuck and explained things clearly.

Tayler Dobson-Zabik: It was nicely propped but i say the hints for the kraken casino werent very helpful. You were kinda just left up to roam, there weren’t really riddles or anything. And the front desk wasn’t very helpful, just kind of too busy joking around.

Kip Andrews: We had fun but there was one poor dude juggling all the rooms on a Saturday night. The room hadn't been reset properly. The attendant wasn't available to give us hints, and the puzzle didn't work when we did get a hint. Cool room (kraken casino) but there are definitely better escape rooms out there. I do not saddle the attendant with blame, they need to offer up the cash to hire some more attendants. There is no worker shortage only underpaying businesses.Especially at $30 per person, jeez. But, 3stars to give benefit of the doubt and we still had some fun.

Tabish Shaikh: DO NOT GO HERE!!!UNLESS YOU LIKE TO WASTE TIME AND MONEYI have never left a bad review before, but after last night’s experience I am finding myself doing so because nobody at this business cares how much of our time and money they wasted!!!We had booked the Pirate’s Curse escape room yesterday for the 7:45pm time slot. We arrived on time and were specifically told to wait 17 minutes for the group before us to finish as they had a very busy day. We were surprised since checking availability online that morning had revealed many slots available, but sat at the tables anyway and waited. Around 8:13, I went to the desk and asked what was going on, stated our slot was for 7:45 and that I wanted to know when we would be let in. Employees informed me that it would be 10 more minutes as they were resetting the room and did not explain why it had taken so long to start that process. I went and sat down and when more time passed, another member of our group went to the desk and asked what the holdup was. At this point, the employee at the desk finally went to check what was taking so long.We finally get in the room and some locks were so jammed that even if you put the right code in, you couldn’t open them without wasting excessive and expensive time on them. Eventually, we got close to the end and couldn’t seem to figure out one last riddle, when an employee came in to let us know our time was up. He offered to reveal the rest of the riddle and mumbles the answer, mentioning that one piece of the puzzle we were on as our time ran out was MISSING A PIECE. So our six-person group paid nearly $200 for the pleasure of this business’s incompetence and lack of good service. Additionally, we were not offered any partial refund or discount or ANYTHING to improve to utter disregard with which our time and money was treated by this place.A completely disappointing experience, DO NOT RECOMMEND

Ian Merner: Room was incorrectly set up upon arrival and we lost 20 minutes to that alone after being on record pace up until the last step. Then the electronics of the room were glitchy and absurdly loud for every combination error. Even after having gotten the correct 6 icons the system gave inconsistent failure feedback each time. Extremely unpleasant time for a serious puzzle enjoyer. I will not be recommending this location to others.
