Chelsea Hearth and Fireplaces: what do users think?
Timothy Gagern: Between Beck, Ron, Jamie, and their show room, this place is the best. I have had 4 friends from Ann Arbor, and surrounding areas, who have had stoves installed or sold by them, recommend this ‘company’ to me and I can’t say enough. The business doesn’t feel like one, it feels like you are inviting them into your home, which you are, and they treat it and you, as such. The most respect, knowledge, and kindness. I’ve learned things about wood burning stoves that I don’t want to know, but I now do and am glad to have learned, thanks to the three mentioned above. My wife was totally comfortable having Ron over to give us a quote, and I know that can be hard sometimes with weird contractors these days. Ron isn’t that. He’s an honest, friendly, and hard working guy that has a great staff and I cannot respect that enough. Their show room is amazing, the options available are simply explained, there is no sales pitch, and the products sell themselves. Honestly, I would love to have these guys over for dinner once our stove is installed. I appreciate this company and they will have my business for a lifetime, as well as anyone who asked me for a stove place!
Scott Smith: Jamie was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding selecting the right stove for my use. Ron, the owner, was quick to respond and got the installation correct. The installers were professional and courteous. This is not their first rodeo. The replacement of my old stove with the new Blaze King stove went flawlessly.Regarding the Blaze King wood burner; I purchased an Ashford 20.2 which is amazing! The thermostatically controlled air control works perfect. Now I can dial in the heat output just like a wall thermostat. It will run all night on 3 logs. It uses less than half the wood as my old stove for the same heat output with little user intervention. I can't say how much I love my new stove and the service by Chelsea Hearth and Fireplaces!
Sheila Anderson: My fireplace remote doesn’t work properly going through batteries weekly….owners answer after 26k… use copper top batteries. Still didn’t work… his answer.. I’ll run you by more batteries as you need them.In addition. I ordered REAL stone for the fireplace. He had me order twice as much as I needed and took about $500 of left over stone. They did it also with the outside but my husband ask them to please leave it since we paid for it. He still took 2 boxes. After 26k, I don’t have a chimney on my gas fireplace, instead I had a giant STOVE PIPE! I was crying! I had him remove the industrial monster but was not reimbursed any of the money they charged me to put the stupid thing up.Also they charge by amount of stone… orders twice as much stone as needed and then refuses to reimburse the extra money you paid for the labor. He finds every way to over charge. A stone has already fallen out and very messyVery scammy. I WOULD NOT recommend. And if you’re reading this RON. I’d like a new remote!
Ryan Lounsbery: Had a blaze king princess wood stove along with new stove pipes installed spring of 2021. Best wood stove i have ever had. Fast friendly and vary professional service. Heating a 2,600 sf home has went 22 hours on one load of wood.
Cynthia Westerhof: Very disappointed - we need a new chimney cap, they came out and measured and said it would be a couple of weeks before the new stainless steel cap would be ready. Over two months later nothing has happened. We called a number of times and even sent an e mail requesting a date. Finally gave up and have contacted someone else to do the work. Poor customer service. If they didn't want to do the work they could have told us two months ago. now we might not be able to get the cap replaced until spring.
Gillian Reily: We paid almost $200 to have someone come out and diagnose an issue with our gas fireplace. The tech was at our house for no more than 20 minutes (even though I was assured that the $200 would get us an hour of time including a cleaning if he finished diagnosing the problem before the hour was up). When he was done the tech told me that they would call when they had the replacement part ordered to fix the issue. No one ever called. After a month, I called them back to see if I could get an update and they told me that they couldn't find the part to order and our only option would be to spend $8,000-$10,000 on a new fireplace. My husband got online and found a replacement part in 15 minutes. I'm not sure what happened and if there was just a miscommunication or something but we definitely feel like they just took $200 and had no intention of calling us back or actually helping us fix the issue. Now we have to try and reach out to another repair place to see if we can get someone a bit more helpful.
Kristin J: We could not be more pleased with Ron’s work and the professionalism of his whole team. They converted our gas fireplace into a wood burning one, and I highly recommend them for your projects!
Debra Royal: Good location with a large amount of parking. Salesperson was friendly and informative and gave some demonstrations of the flame heights and colors of the electric fireplace that I was looking at. She answered my questions about how much it cost to run and how much space it heated. Also gave me pricing and her card, as well as hours that I could bring my husband back to see it. Store was clean and easy to look at all displays. I am pretty sure we will go back to purchase it.
Joshua Chornyak: I recently acquired a used wood stove and will be installing it myself. I ran into a few problems and called Chelsea Hearth and Fireplaces for help even though I was not their customer. The women who took the call asked a few specific questions and told me she would call me back. Within a few minutes she called me back and had another gentleman there trying to troubleshoot my problems. In the end they pointed me in the right direction. This kind of quality customer service is so important for a small business! I will be using them for all my future wood stove needs and recommending them as well. Thanks for the great service!
Tim Tingley: My wife and I stopped in Friday the 25. We wanted to get there when they opened so we would have enough time to get the right fire place for our needs. Well that is not at all what this place cares about.when I said we are looking to get a wood burning insert the woman said,so your looking to do a complete remodle? No we answered. Then said told me that someone ran a gas line to my wood burning fireplace and to just cap it of anf throw wood in it. As my wife put it very argumentative and did not try to help us at all. An easy sale. We already new that the chimney would have to be charged out. But we were looking for guidance and if anyone is just like us take a had pass or go see for yourself its quite funny. I went to Chelsea to support a small business but I wouldn't by a match there!First time ever writing a review,Rest regards,Just Handtoo
Anthony Sebastian: Great service and very knowledgeable. In fact buying a second pellet stove from them this month.
Lucy Silverio: I have a small cottage and was getting a gas insert to help make the place more cozy in the winter besides having the convenience and beauty of an instant fire. I got two bids for the job and while the cost from Chelsea Hearth was slightly more expensive - the professionalism of the workers and the sales staff, the efficiency ratings of their stoves, and the aesthetic appeal of their units made choosing them the obvious solution.During the course of the job I met four of the workers, they were capable, personable, and quality conscious. They did not leave a mess even when drilling through concrete and masonry. The fireplace is in and it is beautiful- it looks real, starts right up, is 85 percent efficient, and we are not hauling wood and ashes. We are most pleased.
Benjamin Viglianti: Excellent
Carrie Jere: We love our insert from Chelsea Hearth! It’s so efficient and keeps our house so tasty warm in the winter!
Susie Wescott: Ron and his team are the best. They take the time to attend to detail & do superb work. Ray was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for anyone better. High quality work in every way. Thanks, Ray & Ron & the whole crew. We couldn’t be happier!
Idea Person: The entire experience with Chelsea Hearth and Fireplace has been superb. Ron is very knowledgeable and conscientious. His team built two quality fireplaces for us. One a woodburning insert, and another gas. The workmanship is second to none. Cannot recommend them more highly than the 5 stars allowed. Be a customer with confidence.
Louis Probst: Ron did an excellent job servicing our gas fireplaces. Very careful and thorough as well as professional and polite.
Robert Koplan: Not only have I been incredibly pleased with Chelsea Hearth and Fireplace through the entire process from the sale through the construction, I'm extremely pleased with the awesome finished product. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to add a gas fireplace or replace one.
Charles Schulz: I am impressed by their knowledge of fireplace products and installation. They also truly value their customers.
Nancy Nine: We purchased a Harman Pellet stove from Chelsea Hearth and Fireplaces. The sales staff was very informative about all the products they sell. When they came to install our pellet stove they were very careful and professional when installing. We are very happy with our purchase from them. Great quality and service. If you are in the market for a Fireplace or Pellet stove I highly recommend Chelsea Hearth and Fireplaces.
Minds Eye: Don't even know where to start: these people are so shamelessly over priced that it almost feels like a rude joke. A burner assembly that is available everywhere for $550 with ceramic logs costs $1,100 at CH&F. One of the techs they have is so uninitiated, un-resourceful and unwilling to do any work that I am struggling to recall an experience with any other contractor where such excruciatingly high levels of incompetence were shown.Their visitation prices are off the charts to begin with and then getting them to do ANYTHING to your fireplace or even so much as touch it starts to rack up the price by the minute. This place is ridiculously expensive and incompetent. Look elsewhere for your fireplace chimney needs unless you have tons of money to throw down the toilet..

FireSide Hearth and Home: what do users think?
Cathy Sklarczyk: The Canton Store Director was very willing to help us when we went in. We put in a downpayment for a unit and he told us that we would be hearing from the Installer. We received a tentative invoice showing the cost that did not list an inspection fee and there was no mention from sales or from the service installer that there would be a $125 service fee. We had heard about a previous problem with their installation and when we questioned both sales and service, we received no information on our concern. When the installer arrived he wanted to install the gas line in a quick and easy way that did not consider code requirements for running the line. With no inspection required, there would be no consequences, in his mind. This was similar to the problem that we heard from another customer. With that said, we contacted the store to cancel the sale. The Store Director said he would not refund the inspection fee and it took over 3 weeks to get a check back from them less the $125 inspection cost.
Melissa Heinen: We have been looking to update our double sided fireplace for years. We didn’t really know the process but Derek at Fireside was so helpful answering all of our questions. Our old one had a hard time lighting, was uneven when it was lit and didn’t have a remote. These days, post pandemic, everything takes extremely long to order and schedule so unfortunately it did take about 5 months to actually get it installed. We also upgraded the stone around the fire place so they sent Joe and his team out to do the custom masonry work. He was friendly, clean and professional. He had attention to detail and made sure everything was working properly. I highly recommend.
Shabnam Maymand: We had our fireplace installed this past summer. A little problem in the beginning, however Criag responded so quickly and had our problem fixed soon enough. Our fireplace is so quiet, elegant and efficient. Best decision ever! I would definitely recommend Fireside Hearth and home.
Michele Maley: We love our new fireplace insert, we hadn't used our fireplace in years because it was old and a hassle. It's so easy now, just a click on the remote and it's on. We went with the Heat and Glo unit, love the modern technology. It took awhile to get on the schedule for the install, but the installer was very professional. Wish we would have done it soon!
Silke-Maria Weineck: The absolute worst. Strung me along for more than six months promising to send an installer. Finally, a guy called one -- i called him back three times without response. Just execrable service, but very smarmy emails from "Daniel," who will lie to you like there's no tomorrow. Go elsewhere.
Laura Monley: I am extremely happy with my new fireplace!
Walker Barnes: We elected to purchase a Quadra fire unit. It was installed one day. Those are the only two things about the process that were positive. The time it took for the installation team to get to us was around 6 to 8 weeks and then they delivered a unit that did not function 100%, and they have yet to fix the issue completely. We have all but been left to deal with the fact that we spent nearly $5000 for a wood-burning fireplace insert that does not have all the functioning parts. At this point it is my belief that we have just been left to fend for ourselves and except the fact that they are not going to help. The fact that they have a third-party installation company is kind of ridiculous because communication broke down at almost every single turn if there was anyAt this point it feels as though no one cares to help us enough. The problem we are having is that the automatic combustion control is nonfunctional, they tried to replace it but it was still non-functional. This might be a small part, but spending so much money on a fireplace I like to look at it and know that it’s working 100%. I spent money on something that did not work properly and the customer service dead ended. There was nothing so much as “we can’t help you so sorry“ or “we will try again to fix it“Never again. Stay away.
Vaibhav L: Nice showroom, nice friendly customer service reps. They stock good quality american made fireplace inserts. Showrooms has fireplaces blasting heat, makes you feel nice and toasty warmEdit 03/03On my second visit to store, did have a different , not so good customer service experience, so knocking a star off. The customer service rep was not as friendly, I would say almost rude. They wont move to show us display models until I show them picture of my fireplace. Which is not needed at all if you are anyways going to confirm the dimensions by sending someone over. You can always show display models to customer nevertheless!
Rick Benoit: So far it has been a good experience
Bruce Tormanen: Great selection to pick from.. staff very informative
Ravi Patel: Hopefully this will help others out there including builders and contractors. We purchased a very high end fireplace here and had it installed for a new build approximately 1 year ago. With the virus and all of the shut downs we have not been able to schedule an inspection until this week. Well low and behold, as soon as the builder went to turn on the fireplace, nothing worked. Not even the electronic wall unit. The wires were installed backward for starters. Not sure what else was done incorrectly. We called them come fix the issue and found out they never even tested the install initially. So it was never in working order. They just put it in and left never testing it. We covered it up during the build so not to damage it and didn’t obviously find this out until we tried it this week to get ready for an inspection. The person my contractor worked with on the phone said it wasn’t their problem now and to get someone to come out was going to cost another $200. They knew we had no choice considering we need the inspections done in order to move in. I really hope they got the rest of it right. Buyers and builders and contractors beware of this company. This is completely unacceptable customer service for me and I am a very reasonable, fair, and understanding customer in my opinion. Just expected to get what I paid for and this company fell woefully short.
Nahed Hady: It’s the worst place to go for serviceI called them to fix the fireplaceThe repair man worked on it for 10 min and charged me $200 after he left in couples hours it stopped so I called again so he came second time and turned it on the same after he left it stopped working too so I called after several times but they didn’t send him againSo I went to the store and asked them to send him again to see if we need to change any part but the guy promised that he is going to send the repair man but it’s been more than 2 month nobody called or anythingI would not recommend anyone to go to this place
Matthew Fleming: Excellent products and service. Very professional!
Brett Rude: I called like 3 minutes before they closed and they still answered the phone, which I really respect, seems like most places are impossible to reach when they're about to close. The representative, Aaron, was very helpful and gave me lots of information. I will definitely be following up when I can get some time to see them during business hours, but I am so impressed with the customer service that I have gotten so far!
Jason McAnalley: Installed gas fireplace in 2017 and they have come out a couple times but never fixed only cleaned. Every time we turn it on and runs for 5 minutes or more it stinks up my whole house. Very bad customer service I will have to pay another company to look and correct the problem. Go elsewhere
Joseph Schepis: We bought a electric fireplace. Very nice. The blower started to rattle, so they came out to fix it. Quickly rattled again, so they came out and replaced the blower. So after 3 years we love it, and we're pleased with the service.
Gus semaan: I purchased a grand voyager fireplace wood insert. We love the insert, installation went well, absolutely no service after the sale after at least six or seven tries in 2 yrs and promises made never kept for a silly sensor to automatically start and shut off the fan heat sensor. Very disappointed!
Mike Farrugia: Xlnt products and installation services. Definitely plan on doing business.
KongTube Productions: Excellent customer service and very knowledgeable. The sales associate assisted me and directed me to the appropriate store to handle my needs.
Sean K: I’d go zero stars if possible. This place, including its managers, are horrible. I gave them a deposit to have an installation done almost a month ago and still haven’t had anyone call to schedule an appointment. Numerous calls to management over the last few weeks have resulted in unmet expectations - still no call to schedule install. I would highly suggest finding someone else to do business with.
Carolyn Patterfritz: You will wait along time for installation😔

Heat & Sweep: what do users think?
KC Charara: Tried Heat & Sweep for my Mendota gas fireplace repair as recommended by manufacture. Josh came out on time as scheduled. Replaced defective valve, performed full inspection and cleaned up area afterwards. Cost was fair. Would recommend
Jeff Saenz: Great local place. I already had my fireplace doors already but needed some additional hardware to mount them. Multiple employees went above and beyond to help me find a solution to my unique install. Highly recommend, very friendly people.
Pjs Bhullar: Called them to fix and service my two gas fireplaces. Guy was on time and good, took time to clean and also gave me options of upgrading the parts in one of fireplace as being old. What i liked that he didnt force me to get them changed as things were running fine. I noticed gas smell in my basement the next day, called them up - the lady to answer had very poor business sense and knowledge, she was not ready to listen what i was telling her and kept telling me that i should call the fire department to check the gas line, in-spite of me telling her that the smell has started coming after the fireplace in the basement has been serviced and looks like a small leak close to the burner as nothing was noticed till the fireplace was used in the night. She kept telling that it’s because of the fireplace not used for a long time that is why its coming and will go away - a typical example of a non professional desk manager. They were kind enough to schedule a inspection, guy came and checked the fireplace for leak and found a small leak at the same reference point. I would love to give the company a 5star for their service and return service but giving a four because of the unprofessional interaction. I hope the company works on it.
Troy Bungart: Great selection of fireplaces.
Kevin Kobelsky: Plenty of helpful staff. Many models on display.
Jim Bo: The Heat and Sweep repair man, Corey, came to my house today to check out my gas fireplace. The pilot light would not stay lit. He was quite knowledgeable and efficient. He fixed the problem and cleaned my fireplace in the process. Excellent service. I highly recommend Heat and Sweep
Tom Perna: Alex was very helpful. We are ordering new fireplace doors.
Leah Mary: Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Installed our gas line and log sets with care and professionalism.
Timothy Gregory: Met with Brent in sales nice guy, sold me the perfect log set for my home. Installation was perfect, both installers were pleasant, neat and answered all my questions, best decision.
William Zurenko: From start to finish this was a great experience for buying a gas insert and fireplace door for our home. The salesperson was extremely knowledgeable and patient and helped us pick out a great log set and door. Further, our installer Josh went above and beyond to make sure everything was set up correctly and safely. Josh was friendly, didn’t mind me asking a bunch of questions as he worked, and did a fantastic job with the install. Overall I would recommend Heat and Sweep to anyone looking for anything fireplace related.
LA PK: Alex, Sean and their team did an AMAZING job! Check out the transformation pics below. We purchased a 1990's house with a bizarro tube and old builder's box fireplace, which didn't work. They tore it all out, created a built-in for our TV, and gave us the Vermont Castings stove that my wife and I had been dreaming about since we first met 19 years ago! Alex showed strong integrity and persevered through a few big challenges: this was the first (and last) red stove he will ever do, because the company does not supply the red pipe anymore and painting the piping was the worst; they also faced a problem with a new outside contractor for one phase of the job who didn't perform well. They made it right, and we trusted Alex through it all. We just turned on our stove in perfect timing for the fall and we couldn't be happier. Thank you Alex, Sean and everyone at Heat n Sweep!
Anne Orr: Outstanding customer service!
Ben Bower: Outstanding experience buying and installing new gas logs. Replaced a very old set with brand new white birch logs. From start to finish, great customer service. In-store, Alex was able to go over all of our questions and assisted us with selecting a new set. Installer Cory was professional, friendly, on-time, and took extra care of my home (mats laid down, took shoes off each time he walked in and out of the home). The pictures speak for themselves! I’ll be back to buy a grill this spring. Thank you!
Mark Stapleton: We needed service to our gas fireplace. We had difficulty with other companies diagnosing our problem. Cory was friendly, courteous, professional and was able to diagnose the problem promptly. We could not happier and we highly recommend heat and sweep.
Brendan Martin: Amazing place. Good selection of gas logs sets and accessories and tons of doors to choose from! Good, honest people and fair pricing. I have been in here multiple times in the last couple weeks (so much so, that I may as well get a job here 😅) asking a number of questions, and Alex was extremely patient and helpful in answering them all. I finally ordered my new gas logs the other day and can't wait for them to come in. These guys definitely have a new customer for life!I'll be needing to get a chimney cap installed, and sometime next year I'm looking to install a new gas log set in my basement fireplace-- you know this the place I'll be coming! Love it. Would give them more than 5 stars if possible.
Sue Clipper-Kotlarek: great customer service and they are all very knowledgeable.
Kevyn Monier: These guys are awesome. I had a Louisiana Championship Grill and I was not sure if anyone would be able to repair my pellet smoker. Reason being, due to an internal fire, I thought I may have lost my favorite girl/grill for ever. These guys quickly repaired my grill, put on new coaster wheels, repaired my handles, and gave her a fresh coat of paint. These guys charged me a fraction of what I thought it would cost. Most important, they went above and beyond to help me out. You will forever have my support and business. Thanks Guys.
Dave Gerlach: Awesome and friendly customer service. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Went in with a fireplace issue and they took the time to help me figure out the problem. I really appreciate genuine good people and would recommend shopping here. Thanks fellas!
j camilleri: The service at Canton Heat & Sweep was great. Alex was very knowledgeable of his products and we appreciated his patience and was very helpful with all of our questions. Josh did a great job with installation and was also also very helpful in assuring our understanding how everything worked. I highly recommend the crew at Canton’s Heat & Sweep!
Christie Cook: Wow 🤩! This company is absolutely amazing! They have the best customer service. Alex was extremely friendly and accommodating. Josh came out so quickly to address my fireplace concern. He was so professional and even caught an issue I didn’t know I had. What an honest man! I am thoroughly impressed! Anyone who chooses this company is in excellent hands! If I could give them 10 stars ⭐️ I would. I definitely recommend them!
Patrick Tapper: This family business is one of the most honest I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with. They went the extra mile when I needed their help with my previous house. I’m once again calling on them to install a fireplace insert in my current home. I really appreciate the way they have kept me posted on any delays during the pandemic.
