Sophia Brueckner: I came here on the suggestion of a fly fishing friend, but I accidentally came on a day where they were very busy. I'm just getting started but am serious, hired a fly fishing guide already, and was ready to spend quite a bit on good quality gear. I was walking in loops around the store trying to catch any attention of the staff while they enthusiastically greeted men and boys who came in after me giving them long descriptions of what they should check out. I couldn't even catch anyone's eye until I interrupted one of these interactions with people who came in after me. I felt invisible and pretty terrible, and I can't help but feel like if I were a bearded guy I would have had a completely different experience.

Trevor McIlwaine: This place is the best! They always get me set up with the right gear, lines, flies before a trip. I also love the lessons they teach and their guides are fantastic. If you're looking for anything to do with fishing Shultz is your spot.
Chris Baker: Came here a few days ago to establish a relationship with these guys. Think it's pretty cool that a specialized fly shop is in our backyard, outside of Cabela's, or Bass Pro Shops. I have been fly fishing for about 16 years with mainly dry flies. I've recently decided to pull the trigger on a two-handed switch setup, and with all of the online instructions, and different lines running in a Skagit setup, I decided to speak with someone at Schultz. That someone was Nick, and he explained some things, answered a bunch of questions I had. I asked him to pull me a Skagit setup, and he took note of my rod & reel setup, and got me what I needed. He told me that when I get my rod & reel in, bring it in, and he'll spool & tie everything up for me. I did that today, and he had me ready to rock in 10 minutes, no charge. Thanks, Nick! These guys have a great fly & streamer selection, high-end rods & reels along with mid-ranged ones. They also have backing, float lines, Skagit spey heads, sinking lines, leader line, tippets, fly tools & accessories, polarized sunglasses, waders & rain gear, nets. They'll have what you need.
Chris Pollack: Being from the West side of Michigan, I called Schultz for some questions on tying a specific fly type and Corey, who answered the phone, was knowledgeable, patient and unpretentious. He selected some items for me and happily shipped them to me, receiving them the very next day. Great customer service, I will be shopping with them again (probably more than I should).
Megan East: They always are a great help and knowledgeable. I came in with a list of supplies to purchase and they took the time to help me find each item. I’ve been here several times over the last decade and each time they provide excellent service.
Todd Mundorf: I can't say enough great things about the team at Schultz Outfitters. A couple of years ago I was new to fly fishing, having come from years of 'gear' fishing for bass. Every single person in the shop has been phenomenal, from helping me with rods, reels and lines, to getting me set up to tie flies. All super low pressure, but high intensity in terms of their willingness to help! Thanks Corey for your patient help today (and so many other days) getting me set up to try a switch/skagit set up! Huge thanks to Mike for building such a great team that helps newbies like me figure out their way through the fly fishing world. Shout out to Jesse who was the first person I came into contact when I walked in back then, who spent hours helping me get started. If there were a way to give 6 stars to the whole crew, no BS, I would.

Jennifer Goldschneider: Believe the reviews that say this shop is not open during the business hours posted online. The place was not open on 7/31 at 2:00 in the afternoon. If I had read the reviews earlier, I could have saved my family the 38-minute drive to the shop. Lesson learned. Will not go back.

Luc Tassin: I've been here multiple time while ice fishing and he's a great guy who is very knowledgeable and helpful. The one thing you need to know is that this seems to be more of a hobby store for him. Now this isn't a bad thing but this means he does it for fun and he runs it however he's feeling thay day. This means that he may be closed when you expect it to be open, but as long as you realize how he runs this then you'll have a great experience and will definitely come back again!

Eddie Smith: Nice retail facility with a great selection of sports merchandise... regretfully though, the prices are set at a staggering premium and the quality of the products and service simply do not offer enough value to justify the high premium.
Steve Adams: I’m not sure what’s going on with this location but it’s almost like they’re getting rid of their fishing/camping gear all together.We’re well into spring and the fishing/camping season has started. I went to pick up some things a few weeks ago and the shelves were disheveled with every limited stock. Thinking I was just too early I came back again today and it’s even worse. The camping section is now like two half isles, the fishing section is down to just 4 isles with 1 pack/product on every peg to make it look fuller than it is. Most items are lacking any and all variety. Good luck finding something in a length/color that you want.I’d say your local grocery/super center has more stock and variety than this “sporting goods” store, which seems to only sell clothes at this point. There’s no way you could use this store as your primary source of hard baits.

Bruce Popejoy: Went in with my nieces as they were looking for sporting items...new cleats for soccer, sports clothing and items for the upcoming track season. The selection seemed pretty good, some prices were good and other items seemed more than other stores. We were helped in the show department, the young man was running between customers and was very helpful and efficient...only think others not working as hard could have stepped up and helped. Lots of clearance in the main aisles. We found most items quickly and were on our way to the next store in a timely manner.

Tab B: I was in the store shopping and had a physical emergency, I could not find anyone in the back of the store. I stuck my head through the "employee only" doors, knocked on the break room where the manager appeared to be. I was promptly yelled at by the manager even when I tried to explain my situation. I have in the past spent much at this store. I will never return. Thank goodness I wasn't having a heart attack.
Maxine Mercier: Very little help when you are trying to find something. Then when you're being checked out and the cashier just slides the money in a rude way instead of handing it to you. I just took it wrong, maybe. However even if you don't want to be at work try to be more polite and wear a smile. Otherwise call off cause your having a bad day.

Karen Godwin: I usually love shopping here, but just now was surprised at the lack of support I received even though there were four employees at the front just hanging out. They all said hello to me. They all said goodbye to me. The one in the swing said she liked my glasses. But never did anyone come and help me as I tried to figure out how to choose a ski jacket at the back of the store. I love their inventory and I'm usually a pretty self-service kind of person. But with technical gear, it would have been nice to have proactive support. Especially during the holidays when the stores are packed tight with so many options. I left.

I give 4 stars due to it may be a hiking score, but not in one that you would plan to actually be “camping”. They don’t have the supplies one would call the minimalist. It was actually pretty depressing with the brand that they have. If your out looking to get that “photo” that you camp, this is the store for it. If they were to add the gear one needs for a week long or extended hike, it would defiantly be 5 stars.

Ping Zhou: A weird, quirky store with a lot of character. A named pet fish, an indoor swing set, tons of pictures of dogs, an upside down mannequin, etc. Great of variety of outdoor products from Fjallraven to North Face. Although Moosejaw is no longer independent and is owned by Walmart (not sure about this specific store, though), it's still nice to have a homegrown (Michigan) brand.
Jim Lee: I’ve been extremely pleased with Moosejaw customer service as I’ve helped a friend get outfitted for MI winters. I fit “off the rack” but my friend struggles with women size small to large being appropriate depending on brand and style. MJ folks have been very helpful and patient with exchanges and returns.
Luis Orellana: Since moving from SoCal to Ann Arbor 5 years ago this location has always had what I needed, whether it is a rain jacket, hiking boots, climbing rope or even a new travel backpack on the fly. This location has always had it and the customer service is too notch. Happy Customer of 5 years now.
