Washtenaw County Road Commission: what do users think?
JR Vander: Deserve zero stars awful do not move to this area
Dollie LaCombe: I don't know what is being done when our roads are being grated. I live on dirt road and there is so much dust after the repairs and it sticks to everything. They used to apply a potassium substance to cut down on this problem. Please do something.! It's becoming a hazard when you are driving behind another vehicle because you can't see!
United Mich: I put in a request on the weekend for our neighborhood street to be repaired due to a pothole & (district 2) Washtenaw county road commission was out Monday morning. GREAT WORK, thank you.
Minds Eye: With the amount of taxes we pay its atrocious to see the amount of flippin dirt roads in the state of Michigan. And then to add insult to injury there is maybe just ONE full week in an entire YEAR that the roads are nicely driveable. For the rest of the 51 weeks or so the roads are riddled with potholes like the crater of the moon and then don't even get me started about their complete lack of dust control around spring and fall and how its almost impossible live near a dirt road except me holed up inside your house because of the amount of dust flying around. What a shame. These people don't do their jobs or grading and spraying frequently yet we keep paying the taxes. Washtenaw has probably the worst quality dirt roads.
Peter Rosol: Can't maintain gravel roads, period. They may as well leave the roads alone because all they do is create a dust bowl and it's back the way it was in less than a week. Beautiful spring evening, can't even open the windows! I guess that's what you should expect when paying premium property taxes.
James Yarosz: I've worked in Washtenaw county for 20 years but only lived here for 6. The road commission here is without question the worst run agency in Michigan (worse than SOS). I never experienced 1/10 as much frustration in Livingston or Jackson county with road projects. I'm pretty sure WCRC has screwed up every single project I've seen them take on.
John Langmore: About 200 ft of Island Lake Road, just East of Stofer Road has three areas that have side-by-side deep potholes for the last week. It is impossible to get around the pot holes. Today I scraped the bottom of my car when I drove very slowly through the mess. All that the Road Commission would need to do is just temporarily fill the holes with gravel to make the road passable. So far they have done nothing. The space is at the top of the hill and is not muddy. Neighbors have called the road commission but have gotten no response other than words.
Annie Burks: This winter has been very unpredictable, an entire tree landed on the roof of my car, but with the help of the Washtenaw County Road Commission I was assisted with the clean up of this tree that landed halfway in the road and across the sidewalk on my front lawn. Thanks and God Bless!
A C: The condition of I-94 EB and WB at the border of Jackson county is deplorable. You *will* bend a rim if you're not careful. BUT the main reason for my 1 star review is today was the day of the big snow storm (predicted days ago) that dropped a foot of snow.. You'd think there would be snow plows out, right? Nope. Not one. Even after the snow had long since stopped.Ridiculous
Dave Sullivan: Appreciate all help on Waterways Drive after the ice storm!
The candy Man: This office will continue to do its best to misappropriate funds to the best of its ability! I spent over an hour on the phone with different people here that would rather talk over you than to hold a conversation about your concerns . The roads in this county are the worse in the state! They disagree and say they are doing a great job ! I told the lady in the 10 years I have lived the roads have continued to become worse , she’s says that’s true but they are doing a great job! These two statements are at odds obviously. They shut down Pontiac trail and north territorial for 14 weeks to put a round about in when the road was in great condition. Asked why they would not wait till the road needed fixed to work on it. “ it was an improvement “ this is one great example of this office wasting money that should be spent on fixing the roads that have a been destroyed no putting in dangerous intersections! Everyone wants to blame someone else here ! Really great job guys! Keep it up and in ten years we will not have any roads left here!
Spencer Travis: They spread way too much salt on the roads. Our cars depreciate greatly in value due to the rust that is caused by this excessive amount of salt. If more people were to just get snow tires and learn to drive in snowy conditions our tax dollars could be spent less on salt and more on repairing our roads. Salt also has a detrimental effect on our local environment. Road salt has been linked to causing harm to ecosystems in wetlands and other watersheds throughout Michigan. We need to explore other alternatives that create less harmful impacts to our environment and don't cause corrosion on vehicles.
drew Johnson: From a truckers standpoint, super awesome and friendly folks that will work with you, within reason, to get you moving and back on the road... they provided an overnight space and were rdy to go when they said they would be, what more could a trucker ask for!?
Brooke Ayles: Washtenaw Rd east of 23, y'all. That's all I have to say.
Giuseppe Giacalone: Aye man, the fact that it you can’t drive down the road without having your car look like it got done sliding down a muddy cliff, and takes 10 min extra to get to work is unacceptable. DO BETTER
Robert Duncan Carlisle: The incompetence of these people is astonishing. They close a road for months on end (Zeeb) for a project that should take 2weeks. They detour that traffic miles out of the way to Wagner and don't bother to change the timing on the stop lights. Traffic on Wagner is now backing up in a solid wall from Jackson to Scio Church.
Jason Fuller: Tired of busted windshields from their ignorance and chip and seal program.
Edward Warzyniec: WCRC refused to cut dead trees from the road easement in front of my house then a few months later cut one on neighboring property at no cost to the property owner. Called to ask to have a deer crossing sign installed. WCRC said sorry but you must have at least 5 recorded deer accidents a year and I'm only dragging two or three out of the road each year. WCRC will just leave them in the road to get run over or the police will drag them into my front yard for me to deal with. Not a very helpful organization.
Jon Sterling: Worst road commission in the state. Everyone needs to be fired. Nothing more to be said. Period.
Crystal Czerwinski: Rain on Friday had made our snow packed road icy. Our road has a steep hill. People were stuck and couldn’t get out. Even an Amazon driver who spent 4 hours stuck, they worked for 2 hours just to get her unstuck. I left a report on website asking for someone to come out and dump dirt or something. However I had to leave. There is one side lake road you can get out but I can’t get back in due to that having an incline. So I called Saturday morning to the emergency number asking for someone to come out because I can not get home!!! I’ve talk my stepdad into bringing me home late last night because they have a 4 wheel drive truck and the road was still not done. We slid everywhere even in the truck. So I am now stuck at home with no car and my kid is stuck at a friends house for the second day because he can’t get home either. There was no weather related issues yesterday so I don’t understand that not one driver couldn’t come out and dump some dirt or something. What if we have an emergency out here and we can’t get out or they can’t get in?
Mack Foster Sr.: District 5 is in need of retraining there employees. No wonder Michigans infrastructure is crumbling.
