The crew checked in with us every step of the way to make sure we were happy with the job. The house has 6" deep walls with fiberglass insulation and the lead person did indicat she put a lot of foam in the walls. This would make sense since we are warm in the summer and chilly in the winter.

Jessica Walsh: Very knowledgeable and honest! Joe from Spink came out to our condo to give me a bid for some sound-proofing work. After assessing the area and our needs, Joe told me that it would be less expensive and more effective to do the work ourselves with rockwall (no skill required + more effective than cellulose). I am very impressed that he informed me about this alternative, when he could have easily just given me a bid for cellulose sound-proofing, which is what he originally came out for. Spink came highly recommended by a friend, and they still exceeded my expectations. Thank you!

Alex Gidley: After a kitchen remodel on our ~1950s home, we found ice forming on the tops of some of our recessed lighting cans in the attic during winter, meaning we did not have good insulation and air flow in our attic. We had both Home Depot and Spink come out and quote us on adding insulation and fixing air flow problems (installing baffles, clearing insulation from soffit vents). Both quotes were almost dead-on pricewise (within $10), but Spink's quote included more insulation, getting us to minimum R50 in our attic, whereas HD was less. Additionally, Spink was able to schedule the job within a week, whereas HD was booking 2+ weeks out. Finally, Spink also offered to do and submit the paperwork for DTE rebates, which is a nice bonus.The installers arrived and got right to the job. Joe got into our attic, poked around for a few minutes, and immediately explained everything, in intricate detail, to my wife and I. What they were going to do, the air flow issues they noted, how much insulation they were going to add, etc... They put down drop cloths to protect our newly-refinished hardwood floors, and they were careful to get the worst of snow/salt off their boots when coming inside (it was actively snowing outside).Within about 2 hours, they had completed the job and cleaned up. Again, Joe went through all the details of what they had done, and made sure we were happy. I took a peek up in the attic, and we ultimately ended up with close to 18" of insulation, which is even above R50 (R50 is about 15.5").We were very happy with Spink, and would definitely recommend them for any insulation job in the Ann Arbor area.

Kevin Doyle: I recently had Spink's insulate the crawl space of my condo in Ann Arbor. It was a bit of a fiasco. First the person who quoted the job, whom I don't recall ever seeing enter the crawl space (my condos are split level so the crawl space is one that you can almost stand up in) failed to mention to me that there was an opening the length of the condo's side wall between my condo and the next one's un-insulated crawl space. Given the volume of cold air entering my crawl space from the neighbors, it made the insulation job virtually worthless and a waste of money. I discovered this when I crawled in to inspect the installers work (which I had to have them fix a little.) Needless to say I raised hell and they did come out and put cotton batting in the open space but they did not seal it in the way that I had expected they would. I should point out that they did this free. When I was done inspecting that I noticed a loose seam on the moisture barrier. When I got out of the crawlspace the guy in charge did tell me that they had been having installer problems and had just had to fire one. Needless to say I cannot recommend Spink Insulation. A while later when I was wondering if I should check with another possible group, she contacted me, had looked up the item I wanted installed, asked very pertinent questions about the item. The handyman was on time, pleasant and honest about his experience with this product. He used the accompanying booklet to install it correctly. Joseph Wilkinson: Two separate times for the same project handyman of Ann Arbor failed me.The first time upon getting someone out here to cut a hole in my wall so I could run the venting for a stove hood vent, a guy came out and measured, and never even bothered to get back to me with a quote. Upon waiting a week for the quote I reached back out and was informed another person would have to come out and they asked me, “do you want a quote?” Of course I want a quote, that’s literally what I’m calling for and you already failed once.Try number two. A nice guy comes out and quotes me a price for a job I could do but don’t have the time to accomplish being busy at work. I get the quote, and then tell them I will need to schedule this between demolition of my kitchen and reinstall. It’s a tight window.Here we are today and they are nowhere to be found. The handyman who took the job what’s gone AWOL and I’m sitting here late for work because they have again failed to live up to their end of the deal and do their job. So instead of paying someone to do this I will now have to do it myself after work today after incessant texts calls and emails to schedule this job for the past month and a half.I will never use your company again. You are unprofessional, untimely, untrustworthy, and have completely wasted my time.

Mike Smith: This review is not of the actual work, which was fine. This is reflective of the business practice, which must have changed since we used this company about five years ago and everything was great.We had a quote for an install of a bathroom exhaust fan. The morning of the install, it was initially canceled because the handyman was sick and they wanted to reschedule. A different person was not even offered till I pushed on it because I had already taken the day off of work to be there for this to be done. The installer came later than the originally scheduled appointment and took four hours for the install.The work was fine, the product installed was subpar and is very noisy. I now have to replace this. I never actually approved the product installed and only said, 'its fine' after it was done because the whole ordeal was long enough.Then, the bill. Came in 11% higher that what the bid was for, despite the fact that during the original bid I was told this would be the 'max' it would be. Yeah, apparently that was a lie.I will not be using this company again. Take your business elsewhere.
