Ann Putallaz: I have worked with a number of designers over the years, most recently with Shirley Wickman at Cyrus Interiors. Shirley was recommended by a friend of mine and she is indeed one of the absolute best. She has a wonderful combination of creativity and problem-solving skills. I've used her services for a few rooms at one home, and then a remodel and all furnishing for one condo and all furnishing for our snowbird condo in San Diego. We used her top lines for the home where we will spend most of the year, and then her value lines for the condo where we will be for only a few months of the year. The value lines can't be customized to the same extent, but they are still quality items. (Shirley wouldn't suggest anything that wasn't.) She makes it her first priority to understand each client's individual tastes and preferences, and so her ideas are right on the mark. With her coming up with great suggestions to choose among, what seemed like an insurmountable task was far easier to accomplish than I thought possible - and actually fun! She kept track of all the moving parts, which was incredibly helpful. Time and again, she stepped in to help us with logistical details, such as how to get everything to a receiver in San Diego. I've enjoyed working with her to such an extent that I'm truly sorry that our projects are coming to an end. However, I know that she will always be there when I need additional suggestions or advice. And the proof of her professionalism and skill? My friends and family were sad that I was leaving the large home where we had all had such good times. They now exclaim over how beautiful the new place is - and how wonderful it is for entertaining. The fact that they like it even more than my former home is in large part due to Shirley's ability to help me create the type of space I wanted. On a scale of 1 to 10 - I give Shirley at least 20!

Katie Wilkinson: After spending four months working with two very amateur designers, and possibly the most painful “redesign” in the history of office remodels… we found Shirley and it was perfect. Shirley is truly a professional. She has an understanding of design and she isn’t afraid to tell you what is good, what is bad, and what NEEDS to be fixed. Because we had worked with another designer before her and wasted money, Shirley understood that we had a budget and that we needed to be reasonable. Her prices are high, but WELL worth it to have quality furniture in your space. Most of the people we talked to and dealt with before Shirley wanted almost as much money for what we considered “modular” furniture. We have completed our redesign with Shirley and are constantly getting compliments on everything she did. She is very creative and thinks outside of the box. Finally, one issue with other designers and people in the “sales” and service industry is that they disappear the second the check is signed. Shirley is quite the opposite. Having finished the redesign, Shirley will still text me with ideas or thoughts, she even will text or call me back if I just have a small question regarding washing, cleaning, or even if a picture looks good hung where it is. Shirley is great to work with, she is the type of person you want to have a drink with after the day is over. It has been a pleasure and we will use Shirley for all future redesigns and remodels. She is exceptional in providing the kind of personal service you need for a design project. She promptly returns call, responds to requests quickly, and takes personal responsibility for getting the job done. But of course most important is her design talent. Shirley has a way of getting a client to see a room in a new and fresh way. She takes one out of their comfort zone to create truly one of a kind rooms that are functional and beautiful.
