Ann Arbor District Library: Downtown: what do users think?
Syd Smith: Such a great library with lovely staff :)
Molly Siglin: They have a section that is like “a blind date with a book/movie” where it’s wrapped up with a note that gives a brief synopsis. Seems very fun if you like surprises!!
Bruce Geffen: Such an excellent resource in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor!
David Russell: It is hard not to love the AADL - they do the summer game for the kids, and their collection is amazing. They have music instruments and tools and sewing machines and art.....it is just wowThis year we even checked out seeds!!! Like 10 packets of seeds for our home garden!!!!
Charles Carlson: Winner, winner!
Elena R.: AADL offers many different products, events, and services to the community. It is one strong pillar of AA active life. The space of downtown library is great: open and luminous, never chaotic.
Velesa Cole: GREAT 👍
Nancy Collis: We participated in the Luminary workshop and it was SO nice! They provided all the materials and know-how while my son constructed a glowing CAT face (it's upside down in the picture because it's drying from all the glue). Such an awesome library!
Mark Ollis: Vending machine will Rob you!
Stan Rifken: My wife and I attended a recent drag BINGO event at the library. The game, was run by Jadein Black, a local drag artist. We support the Public Library as a community asset, even if we enjoy buying and owning the books we read.It was great to see the parents and children at the library to play BINGO, moderated by this great educator/drag performer. It was an over-the-top and most amusing drag queen performance that was family-friendly, as well.In addition to running the BINGO game, he was engaging the youngsters and adults with stories of his life as a drag performer and a teacher. We enjoyed the event a performance. It was an event for adults as well as for parents and their kids.A good time was had by all!
Melissa Perez: I love coming to the events here, like the letterpress lab and drag bingo! They have amazing resources and a variety of things to check out.
Victoria Poole: Always a pleasurable visit!
Jonathan Pan: Great place for reading and doing homework.
Keow Giak Sim: Staffs are friendly, environment are great.
Mario Hazza: Good library option if you’re downtown
Billy Keener: Excellent library. Computers are fast and it's spread out over 3 floors.
k h: amazing staff who will go out of their way to help you! i had trouble getting a purchased music score to print, no matter what the staff tried, because the website didn't seem to want to communicate with the library's printers. eventually I gave up and left to catch a bus. halfway to my stop, a staff member named Vanessa came running after me with my music! another of the staff (Audrey) had finally managed to get the document to print. i can't believe the two of them kept working at it even after I left, and then followed me to make sure I got it!! i really appreciate both of them!
Emilia Fichter (Gonzalez-Baradlay): This library is a paradise. It's not only the events or workshops they host. Or the summer game. Or the kid's section. Or the space you can rent for your meetings. Or the people that works there. Or the fact that you can simply go for a coffee and a magazine during cold days... You can check out electric guitars, led lights for your party, a sewing machine, seeds for your garden, a board game, a puzzle, music CDs, blue ray movies, ebooks and they also have regular books! Go figure.
Kathy Kujawa: Very spacious well organized and inviting!
sam the can: There were so many books there very bookish. 0/10
Bruce Popejoy: Parking is terrible, once in the store "social distancing" is a joke and people without masks. I am also surprised by some of the prices, not an antique store but some items are priced like it.

Ann Arbor District Library: Malletts Creek Branch: what do users think?
Mark David: Ample room to study and with free wifi and close parking
J. David Laughrey: I go to this site several times a month...
Jessica K: The staff are pleasant and helpful.
Clark Rodeffer: I like going here to study, and to meet with students who I tutor.
Kyle Newmeyer: A sustainable library, nice size. Many computers to use, open offices for work or tutoring, good kids section. Order books through website from any branch and pick them up here. Free limited printing or copying. A large room used for classes or kids fun.
michael mosley: Quiet clean safe
U Coward: Great library for borrowing books, doing research, meeting rooms are bright, and printing on the go is useful.
Katherine Opsommer: Nice place to scan or print things.Nice place to work in quite
Lora Campredon: Lovely local library with incredibly kind, helpful librarians. It's easy to request books that are in the AADL system and not located at Malletts Creek. The children's area has rotating toys and looks out over native plants that change throughout the year. Lots of private study/reading rooms so adults can get away from the more boisterous littles.
Wayne Nesmith: Wonderful, whimsical location with an actual Creek, (hence the name). Courtney always helps me with all my request(s). However, all who work here are great. Awesome, interior architecture, and, wait for it, a fabulous 🔥 fireplace.
John Smith: Very good place to be
Izzy Fozz: Staff is always helpful and kind. It is weirdly laid out though and there is not a large book selection here. The study rooms are glass and see through from all angles so it can be a bit distracting to work in them. Additionally, the wifi here is kinda slow.
Dana Murray: It's a pretty nice local branch of the district library
Kenneth Koorhan: I have been going to Malletts Creek branch ever since Loving branch closed and have always been met with friendly and helpful staff.
eager beaver: Awesome place
Syed H.: I needed a quiet place to study and off course library is the best!! What I like about them, too friendly. Even let me know if I need to print something first 30 pages are free. They were really helpful and professional. Nice place for some quiet time. If you preparing for job interview and print resume… perfect place for that too. God bless them!!!
V: Staff are poorly trained to properly address patrons' needs. They don't understand fairness and they don’t use critical thinking to address conflict. Some have proven to have very low emotional intelligence. A librarian harassed me and threatened to call the police on me because I decided to remain in a room that I had been studying in. They sided with another patron who wanted me to vacate the room on her whim. I had not placed my name on the sheet posted on the door, which I could have done to exclude others from entering the room. The patron took advantage of this and immediately signed her name to it while I was still occupying the room. She did not ask me for how long I had planned to occupy the room. She went to the librarians to have me kicked out. All the while, there were other rooms that she could have settled in. I was accused of being uncooperative. However, the other patron was the most uncooperative. She did not ask me when I would be done using the room. She only told me that I had to leave the room. When I go to a library to study, I should expect NOT to be interrupted and harassed; NOT to be kicked out of my study space; and NOT to be threatened with calling the police. This totally defeats the purpose of visiting a library. As a peaceful, law abiding woman of color, I do not need to be threatened with having the police called on me - simply to satisfy another patron's room preference. I had to relocate to a room that the other patron didn't want to occupy. This other patron happened to be white. It's like I am being asked to get up and sit at the back of the bus to satisfy her wants.
Abbigail Dayney: Really great library, very cozy but the front desk people talk really loud and it’s pretty distracting.
Kelly Augustine: Very nice place to check out books that also has events for kids, teens and adults
Cecil Schinco: Librarys.Like em.Love em.Use em.
Review Guy: This place is about 1 (one) thing: BOOKS! And lots of em. If you like books you'll love the Ann Arbor District Library: Malletts Creek Branch. If you don't.... well you've been warned!!!

Ann Arbor District Library: Traverwood Branch: what do users think?
Lily Lee: This library has so much natural light in its spaces. Great place to study or work. There are a few private rooms. Book selection is decent but not as much inventory as other locations. Beautiful library but smaller in overall size compared to Pittsfield or Westgate or downtown.Vending machines for snacks or drinks available.
Tiffany Ng: The most beautiful of Ann Arbor's public libraries, with a soothing wood and tree-themed interior, ample desk and activity space including space for kids, and an inviting book selection for all ages. There's 24-hour wifi in the parking lot too.
Josie Ann Lee Draybuck: I love our local library branch. My wife and I go here at least once a week to study, knit, and just hang out. We're so incredibly lucky to have this branch in our neighborhood. I do wish the team sitting at the desk would say hi and goodbye without prompting. Friendly service goes a long way!
Christin Draybuck: The traverwood branch is beautiful to work or study out of. Large windows surround the building allowing a great natural view. Lots of tables and plugs to use. Also a great kids area with blocks and special computers.
Laurie Schwartzenberger: Traverwood library is my favorite of the Ann arbor library system. Staff is helpful, selection is plenty and like the modern space
numidia jurjur: It's not comfortable place, I hate those metal tables and chairs. Not cozy at all, no activities for children.
Robinson: Nice library and a nice selection of books. They also have a machine where you pay for hot chocolate, coffee, and lattes. My only issue is that the older staff can be quite rude. It happened once with an older lady as I approached the front desk for help (I said hello) she just completely ignored me. Wouldn’t say a word absolutely nothing, another worker on the opposite end had to come over and help. It’s almost as if she just refused to assist me. However once I finished I see someone else come up and she is all smiles. Another incident happened today as I was leaving said thank you and every your evening to the clerk near from the door and he didn’t say a single word just brushed me off yet the person right before me the same behavior as the lady, he was all smiles and cheerful. Now I’m African American and the two older people are Caucasian. I hate to think that this was the reason but I literally could not think of any other reason for there behavior. No, I was not loud nor did I have music blasting.I know Ann Arbor lacks diversity but times are hard enough. It’s 2022 not 1962, gas prices are expensive, and it’s almost Christmas let’s be decent to each other.
Chike Nwankwo: Quiet Place to read.
Vazir Fatehi: The best branch? Reminds me of Scandinavia with its beautiful timber work and fireplace. Great activities weekly for kids, and conveniently served by the #22 AATA bus every half hour on weekdays. Garage work parking is underground and there is lots of space to sit and browse while kids spend time in the conference hall-cum-game room or on the multiple screens. I've always enjoyed coming here since it opened in 2008-09 and it continues to be a fav haunt for many.
Emilia Fichter: One of my favorite library branches, especially during winter. Open, lots of natural light, great staff. Few spaces to study, tough. The reading area around the chimney is super cozy. Parking there is easy.
Pramit Das: Great place to read, work and have coffee!
Samson Chu: We just feel that we can relax and enjoy reading!
Mary Beth Westin: Great branch of the AADL! The grandkids love the computer stations for kids, I love that they get distracted by all the fantastic children's book in the way to the computers!
Charles Carlson: Beautiful
Afzan Adilah Ayoub: My whole family loves this walking distant library. They have almost 10 iPad's to accommodate the kids. I have to say a little noise is not a bother here. The best part is we are allowed to eat and drink here. Not like the usual library in my country. I once borrowed almost 40 books in one shots. Love it.
dong zhou: too more memories, too more happy time
The Chateau's Channel: Nice collection nice bldg nuce helpers, coffee etc.
Tamara Kutter: Only 5 more days until all the AADL branches re-open!
Yuan Wang: Safe and convenient
Lenora Green: It's nice and clean, but too loud to study. When I go to a library, I need hear myself think.

Ann Arbor District Library: Pittsfield Branch: what do users think?
Deep Singh: Nice environment. Multiple activity areas. Good location. Great place for kids to learn and participate in various activities.
Lindsay O'Rourke: It is nice to work near the windows, but the acoustics carry. It is very loud when there are activities going on in the middle of the library or when kids are playing. I’ve had to find other branches to get any real work done.
ravi daitota: All pittsfield township libraries are well organized and well staffed. However, this location has limited parking compared to other locations. Also, getting in and out during rush hours could put your patience to test. This location also holds story time for kids on certain days of the week.
Aimee Mendez: The staff are incredibly helpful!
Marylee Leemary: Beautiful, unique building. I love libraries. Getting a card was a breeze and staff was helpful and friendly. Not very big and thus not a large selection of books, but well connected to the other Ann Arbor area libraries.
Murad Cebeci: Local library with friendly and helpful staff. Also with a high speed free internet which I have clocked at 200 Mbps multiple times.I love the cozy atmosphere.I’ve been told it might get quite crowded here sometimes but I was here almost all day and it’s lovely to study here.I also bought three awesome books from the Friends Books at $2 each. Courtesy of Friends of Ann Arbor District Library.
Sharon Kelly: Good stuff
Brandon Salveson: Amazing clean library lots of computers great staff good vending machines with pretty quiet library what more do you need in life?
G W: Always amazing. Love our libraries. Staff is great.
Kari: Great place to go. Very friendly and everything is nice and organized. We enjoyed reading and being on our computers.
Kazem Esfahanian: Good place for fun and information.
Sarah Welch: We love the Ann Arbor public libraries! This one branch is super fun! My kids love the gravity ball thing in the center of the building. We could literally spend an hour just pushing the button. The summer games is usually what brings us this way. We have a lot of fun running around looking for codes and meeting new people also playing. We have been able to watch a few of the book readings and we even watched one of the animal guys one day. The marsh they have behind the building is great also! So many wildlife you get to watch! 😍😍😍
Valerie Shinabarger: Great for kids! The kid area has computers, puzzles, plenty of tables with chairs, and sofas. The staff were just beaming at us when we came in and were so friendly the whole time we were there. The ball machine in the middle of the library is fun for kids and adults! We tried to keep our voices down but it's hard when that thing is so much fun. This is definitely the best lit library and has a ton of windows and natural light. There's a cozy reading room in the back that has a fireplace and also has great natural lighting.
Ryan Davis: Big, easy to read and work in.
sekaran nc: Smaller in size compared to other locations, but good.
elaine rosick: Very loud, large noisy childrens toy that makes disturbing sounds. If you need to concentrate on the computer or otherwise, I don't recommend this location.
KH Ragab: Great friendly staff. I hope they get rid of that weird noisy metal thing that guess what you should read 😀
Kathryn Friedlund: Pretty library. My kids love the ball thing. The outside of the front door is beautiful too, a long bench shaded with trees. The kids area is small....I don't think I'd love to come if it were crowded.... but has a few puzzles, computers, and some cozy couches to sit and read. And of course books and videos!
Phoebe Bolz: Quiet, fun events, and a great selection of books and movies.
Jim Vitek: Great branch library. Interesting architecture and a nice place to get work done.
Haider Alrammahi: Best branch

Ann Arbor District Library: Westgate Branch: what do users think?
Lily Lee: This is my favorite AA library! After the remodel and expansion a few years back, this place is a haven for adults and kids. There's so much more room here.Library selections are extensive with something for everyone, huge children's play area, computer room, back room with fireplace setting that reminds me of the UM law library with its tables and lamps, open clear glass rooms that fit 1-2 people in the middle of the library, couple of medium sized rooms to hold conference calls or meetings in, as well as a large open space with lots of tables good for group study or just to spread out in. There are couches, comfortable chairs, desks and chairs all throughout the building.Sweetwaters Cafe is attached to grab a drink and bite to eat. It's nice, because they open early, so you can actually go into the library through their entrance in the mornings, before the library actually opens to sit.Lastly in this review, kudos go to the staff that works here, even the ones stocking the shelves. Super nice, helpful and friendly is what I've observed to all their guests. What a neighborhood gem to have this library at Westgate! So grateful, they decided to not close this location years ago and instead built it into something more. 🙂
Ophelia Pozenel: Wonderful library i come here to work and get coffee, sometimes kids can be a little loud most of the time they’re just being cute and having fun!
Brian Kennedy: The best. Coffee shop (Sweetwaters) connected to a library branch. So everyone can plug in. Or not.
Kim Iverson: The people at the help desk were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful.
Barry Ryder: Great Library for many reasons.Today February 23 after the ice storm February 22 it is packed with people using every power outlet available.
Francis Esmonde-White: The Westgate Ann Arbor District Library location is newly renovated and modern. Their collection is excellent, including books, audio, video, and other media like wall art and boardgames. The staff are friendly and helpful. The kids section is beautiful, with many play zones. There are private rooms for working, and a cozy reading room.
Mary Sherrill: Staff always helpful. Shared space for community events. Warm welcoming space for those that love reading.
michael mosley: Better than most!
Leka Shameti: Quiet place for readers. Seems very popular. There are even kids coming here chaperoned. Who spend a fraction of hours. They make good coffee here.
G W: Love our library system!!! So proud to live in a community that supports five branches. The staff is always knowledgeable and pleasant.
Carolyn Christopher: As a retired librarian I find Westgate a great facility serving the neIghborhood with a superb collection of books and audiovisual materials. The librarians are knowledgeable and helpful. And, with a cafe serving beverages and edibles what more could a reader desire!
Sarah Clark: Great location and nice study place. Parking is limited depending on time you go.
Adrian Forbes: Great for a place to get some work done with Sweetwater Cafe conveniently located there.
Chia-Ying Hsieh: The library looks new and clean. It makes me feel pretty comfortable staying there. And the staffs are SUPER nice and helpful.
Joy M: I absolutely love this library! The design after the remodel is perfect to serve the modern needs of the community in a harmonious way: plentiful study nooks and rooms for everyones specific needs, a Sweetwaters that is perfect for refueling during long study sessions, a detailed signage system to quickly find any resources, tons of outlets for charging devices, naturally lit event spaces, and a specific sectioned off children's section to minimize noise for the rest of the patrons. I get so much homework done in this library simply because the atmosphere is so perfect. And in the breaks in my work I always find a book or something that I end up taking home. Everything has been thought out so carefully leaving an optimal space for all. Thank you so much for providing this space for the Ann Arbor Community!
Sara and John Savel: Great place to study, write, and read. Lots of charging stations next to tables and sofas. There's a Sweetwaters inside the library if you need coffee or tea, or a pastry. They're open til 8 pm every night including weekends. Staff is friendly and helpful.
ξriη ξlaiηε Ꭶ •—YouΘɴlyLɨveΘɴce—•: This fine facility feels like my home away from home. It's the perfect public local library, anyone {especially myself} can get lost for hours and time seems to slip away. Excellent resource materials and exceptional variety & endless quantities on hand.
Tamara Kutter: The library is always a great source for the community. But, especially so these last few days when a storm left 1,000's without power. The local (Westgate) branch even opened early so community members could have a place to cool off, charge their phones, use computers, etc. THANK YOU AADL staff!
Google User: Good times here before the remodel. Look forward to using this library when we move back. They made it way cooler after the remodel.
Zach Wilkinson: Book ready on will-call shelf, very easy to find. Check out process unclear. Walked out with book without showing ID.
Very Oliver Raft: I love all the seating options and thought put into this library- a stroller corral, reading room, and entire section of large-print books. When I approached the help desk for assistance finding a book (Call number system is not at this library.), the librarian was pleasant, informative, and respectful; they helped me find the book by walking over to the section and pointing to it within seconds.
