Counseling Center of Ann Arbor: what do users think?
Tanya: Terrible. Not sure how he is a therapist
Kris Parnicky: Ken Land, MSW, was recommended to me by my psychiatrist when I decided to go off antidepressants. I sent Ken an email, he called me, and we met a few weeks later.Ken’s office is in a house in downtown Ann Arbor, a setting I find relaxing. He has a couch in a hall where clients await their turn. People sometimes walk through the hall. His office is a good sized living room with books and desk and a couple of chairs, well lighted. Ken himself is 65ish, slight, and a bit restless. At the start he told me he was unconventional, that he did not go into a lot of past history or dreams, that he dealt with the here and now. Again I felt comfortable. He didn’t always look right at me when I was speaking, which I found a bit off-putting at first, but his verbal responses made it clear that he was very attentive.I told him the issue that was concerning me, we talked about it and came up with a plan for my nextactions, and the first visit was over. In the following weeks I took the actions and returned for a second appointment. The results of my actions had been positive so we discussed what I should do next. For the third visit I brought my wife. She told Ken her concerns and how she was thinking to address them with Ken’s help. Ken had a different approach, so the two of them discussed how to proceed. Over the next 2-3 weeks my wife and I talked through the intended actions, then made plans to follow Ken’s advice. So my time with Ken to date has been limited but very useful. Should I feel the need to seek more ongoing advice / counseling / therapy, I will see him again.
Mary Skinner: Ken brings a pragmatic approach to problem solving that helps to build mental endurance and strength. I feel like I am visiting a personal trainer for my mental health and growing stronger every week. It can be challenging addressing one's own deficits, but the reward for dropping your defenses and demanding better for yourself pays off in the long run.Ken is an excellent coach and counselor. Would recommend.
The Counseling Center of Ann Arbor: We have been serving the community for over 30 years and enjoy doing so!
Blayne Tabor (Xo): Ken has been awesome for my wife and I. He has helped us in a very different light. He may be kinda unconventional in his approach, he is old school and to a point. It works and we are both beyond thankful for his help and for him helping our marriage.
Corinne R.: I was well taken care of. My insurance doesn't work out for them, so i couldn't keep going, but I had no problem getting an appointment and being seen. I had the experience of a very professional visit and would recommend this place to others.
Peppermint Unfettered: I have been to Counseling Center of Ann Arbor over the past month and a half. I have had a wonderful experience and have had my needs well taken care of. My Rebecca's ability to listen and remember details of our meeting every appointment is very impressive and makes me feel as though she truly cares and has the ability to care for my counseling needs.
Julian Carpenter: Ken engaged in a conflict of interest. Unprofessional on a few levels. There are much better counselors in the area.
Marsha Heimbach: Have been calling for a week. Said someone would call back within 24 hours. Lies....
Ilana Houten: Waste of time.

Heron Ridge Associates - Ann Arbor: what do users think?
John Madeiros: Let me start by saying that this place is a complete joke. If I could give them no stars, I would. My therapist who I recently saw here ended up leaving after I had been seeing her for a year. During her absence, she told me she understood if I needed to find a new therapist. I called the receptionist and they said they would call me back in a few days. I didn't end up hearing back for a week. The receptionist has absolutely no idea what she is doing and is extremely rude. They set me up with a new therapist which is the head therapist. Derrick didn't show up to my initial appointment as he was never notified by anybody. When I did end up meeting with Derrick, he didn't seem to want to help me at all. They also set me up with a appointment with Alison Badger, one of the psychiatrists. She didn't understand why I was seeing her even though I e-mailed her in advance and met with her before. Both Derrick and Alison both refused to fill out the paperwork that I requested. Derrick specifically told me, "there's no point in filling out the needed paperwork if you might not have a job tomorrow." Not really something you should say to a client that's experiencing PTSD, anxiety, and overwhelming stress. He then sent me to Alison and she didn't even notify me that she was refusing to fill the paperwork out. I had to call the receptionist to get a answer. Pretty sad you can't even reply to your clients. Once my therapist ended up leaving the company, I decided I wasn't going to waste my time here anymore. I filed a complaint with my insurance company. I would steer clear of this place. They only care about your money and don't care about helping you. You're better off somewhere else that actually takes the time to listen to you.
Josh Rudd: Sandra helped me with my intake and was very kind and professional. I think some of these reviews are quick to pass blame. Thank you Sandra, and the rest at Heron Ridge!
Natalie: This place is awful. I was matched with a new counselor who was leaving a completely different kind of counseling. She laughed at my career goals because she thought it was weird that I would want to pursue a career in education when I hated being in school (I'm not kidding, she literally laughed). Now I'm trying to pay my bill for the 2 sessions I had with her and its not accurate online and I can't get ahold of anyone on the phone. Long story short save yourself even more emotional strain and go somewhere else.
M. Paul McAllister: Great Service!
Michael Meyers: The people on the phone were nice enough... but I never actually made it to my appointment because the new patient forms they require you to fill out are absolutely absurd in length and detail. Honestly, be prepared to spend 2-3 hours answering hundreds and hundreds of questions, many of them repetitive. When cancelling my appointment with them, I explained why and the woman on the phone confirmed that I wasn’t the only person to do so for this reason. She said it happens “all of the time.”What a horrible business model and initial impression this process creates. Maybe try TALKING to new patients first?
Mae Rable: Terrible. All around terrible. One receptionist named Iggie was great. The rest of them, the therapist terrible. Left with more problems then I had when I first reached out for help.
William Kenny: CHERI ALBERTSON: I have seen multiple mental health professionals (lucky me) and this therapist was entirely unprofessional, I found her to be abrasive and rude. Her behavior was abnormal for a therapist and irresponsible. Within our initial 40 minutes of conversation she diagnosed me twice and made two different medicine recommendations (she is not a psychiatrist) and literally scoffed to my face. Later she called me and was very aggressive on the phone. I am shocked she thought these methods could be categorized as therapeutic. I'm lucky to know better and seek out another professional, but this could have been damaging to an individual who doesn't know better. Do NOT see this therapist.P.S. The support staff at Heron Ridge was lovely
Norman Tervo: The receptionist for making my initial appointment demeanor was terrible. Not a good way to start..
Gary Bailey: I contacted Heron Ridge 2 weeks ago because I needed help. I spoke to the receptionist provided all my information. She set me up with the online portal to fill out paperwork which I did immediately. Its now been 2 weeks and I've yet to be contacted regarding a counseling session.... so, so disappointing.Update: contacted Heron Ridge about the lack of a call and they seemed completely disinterested and pretty much blew me off. Worse experience ever !
Jack Dumaw: I attend Heron ridge associates and I see a therapist and psychiatrist here. I have had a great experience here, my therapist is probably the best therapist I have had. I am going to see the psychiatrist today but from what I hear this is a very professional place with a very good staff!:)
Moth Madam: The clinical social worker they have on staff, Cheri Albertson, is absolutely terrible. She has no idea how to work with trauma survivors and certainly shouldn't be around children who have experienced trauma.
Christopher Bower: We love the quality and experience of our therapist and marriage counselor. Highly recommend HR for their professionalism and high level of counseling servcie!
Karen Stover: I've had great experiences, but with any group of professionals who work in the same office, it completely depends on who you work with! I like Zain, but I would encourage anyone looking for a therapist to work with someone that you're comfortable with. I do have to say that they were able and willing to work with my insurance to get me coverage.
Kirk Gallagher: Checked in 25 minutes prior to my appointment sat for over 45 minutes after appointment, then was told doctor is on vacation! Totally unprofessional!
Km Kulwicki: Dr Root is the best. He listens, doesn't hurry you. Jodie the receptionist is great, friendly, always helpful. Called their other office for a refill on a med, it was quick, Sue was very helpful. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Jonathan Pal: I went to their other location about 45 minutes out of Ann Arbor to then get berated by a receptionist to the point where I had a breakdown. It is highly inappropriate for anyone anywhere to treat someone the way she did met, especially in a psychiatrists office. For that reason, I decided to leave and not see the doctor. If this is the way they allow their office to be run, I cannot begin to imagine the way the doctors treat their patients.I have sent a formal report and complaint to my insurance company in regards to this manner. Hopefully they will get themselves together. Once again, if you are operating with the intention to help people with mental illness, do not hire people that treat people with mental illness in such a manner that it causes them to break down.
Steven Risch: This place is really great, all the staff are extremely friendly. They always make sure you're taken care of.
Jennifer Hariharan: The Billing department does not have their act together . The system to keep up with payments made is terrible and the staff is not helpful when trying to fix the situation. Stay away from this place unless you need more stress in your life.

Crossroads Counseling PLLC: what do users think?
Michael Stone: AVOID Michelle Wolf! She will tell your family behind your back you are mentally ill! Then tell them to force you out of your own home! I am now divorced because she made my spouse hysterical!
Brenda Bucholz: I just completed 16 months of counseling with Dave. At first I was skeptical about seeing a male counselor. However, Dave turned out to be a wonderful blessing from God. Dave is professional, honest, caring, helpful and easy to talk to. He gave me tools to use that will benefit me the rest of my life.I have seen other counselors over the span of my life. None of which I would see again or recommend. If I ever need counseling again in the future Dave will be the one I see. He helped me deal with my situation so well. I have recommended Dave to another person who is currently seeing him and so far she is very satisfied with him.
kenpachi: I like it here. Suggested by some local friends. Dave is a good guy 👍 Good for university stress :)
Beth Wade: Everyone here is so nice and they care. I just started coming so I do like what I see so far.
Karen: Our family has been extremely happy with Crossroads Counseling! Our 10 year old son was treated by Kim Parkin for anxiety. She helped us understand why he was struggling, how to help him cope and all from a biblical perspective. She helped my husband and I understand how to better parent our son and guided necessary lifestyle changes to help our family function better. Our son says, "I loved going to see Kim. She was fun and I always felt better when I left."Also, I was treated by Dave Chatel. He is such a godly, wise and kind man. I found it very helpful to receive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from a Christian perspective. I would highly recommend Kim Parkin and Dave Chatel!
