Tina Fong: Service was terrible, Hector didn’t smile, and had an awful attitude!We ignored his demeanor, and enjoyed our night.Then, we got our bill, and asked why there was 20% gratuity added when we were only two people.He proceeded to say, it is because he had to tip out the bar.I said, being from the bar/service industry that it had nothing to do with me.I am tipped by servers, I understood that he had to tip out the bar.He then raised his voice, I then asked why he was raising his voice.Then, he asked why I was talking to him a certain way.I am a calm, and not a confrontational person.We asked to speak to a manager, who was not helpful…and asked us what we did to him?We did nothing.The food is excellent, but I would recommend a carry out order ONLY!!!!!

Nina Ayers: I've eaten here probably a dozen times. The funny thing is I've forgotten to take pictures of my food bc I'm so hungry and the food is way too delicious to waste any time.I usually visit here for lunch/ dinner after a day at the Ann Arbor Childrens Museum. I always park in the parking garage directly around the corner so everything is really close. Saying this bc I come here with a party of 6-10 each time ages ranging from toddler and up. Everyone gets a delicious meal with very large portions. The chips & salsa are delicious and never-ending. The staff is super friendly. The place is family/ kid friendly. They have beautiful outdoor and beautifully decorated indoor seating.I definitely recommend it. Next time I go I'll try to take pictures.

Autumn Nowland: Hands down the best Mexican food in Ann Arbor, possibly in Michigan. I'm from San Diego, CA and love authentic Mexican food. Chela's corn tortillas, salsas, carnitas, al pastor, barbacoa, and tamales are all phenomenal (and all I've tried so far). Dom A: I got to say service was not good. They got our order wrong. The whole order the street corn was bland. No grill flavor or authenticity to speak of. The pineapple tamale was canned pineapple, not fresh, and was extremely soggy almost tasted like mush. At least the staff had a smile on their face, but we never got a corrected taco that we were supposed to. I will not be returning, nor will I recommend.

Michael Youngblood: Great, simple tacos at a reasonable price.Tacos: The tilapia fish tacos are to die for. Topped with red cabbage, guac, and other goodies you have to get one. Also great are the Al Pastor tacos, which pair perfectly with the verde salsa. It's been a minute since I had a different taco from Chela's because I always get the same thing, but I remember the Chipotle Chicken tacos being good but dry and needing some salsa, and the chorizo being pretty good too. Their vegetarian tacos are okay, but don't stack up to the fish taco if you're pescatarian.Guac: The guac is pretty darn good, and the appetizer option is a decent size. It does seem a little overpriced at almost $7 not including chips, but when you have it you'll understand why it's a must get.Salsas: they offer free salsas for any order, make sure to ask or write which ones you want if you order online. The verde salsa they have is delicious and strikes a great balance of spice, acid, salt, and a hint of sweetness.

Colin Gross: Carry out food was hit an miss. Generally, the food was good with a couple exceptions. The fish tacos were "fishy" and the nachos were described as "soggy".The issue we had with pickup was that the entire order wasn't present. We called them the staff answering the phone was friendly and accommodating. Dealing with the staff to resolve that problem was as pleasant.

Joseph Nickell: Charged me for dinner price at lunch, server argued with me and said it was my fault. The portion wasn't even different. Couldn't get a refill on water the whole time; even though the restaurant was empty. If you do decide to order, be warned they will overuse the red sauce. My friend I dined with said the rice was bad. No chips or salsa is offered during waiting time, which was extremely long even when they were at the slowest buisness hour.

The decor was nice and the restaurant seemed very clean.I will say the guy was not super personable or overtly friendly and seemed pretty short with us. But I think that was just his personality. Not everyone are naturally social and good with people.I will say this is the first Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that has understood what celiac disease is and what gluten free is!

I had the quasadilla, my husband who is celiac had the enchilada plate. Best quasadilla I've ever had I think, lots of shredded chicken! Immediately after getting seated, we heard the waiter say (to the only other table currently occupied) "it's not rocket science" when the customer asked a question about the menu item. It was not said jokingly, the customers were two senior women asking a lot of questions. I get that he got annoyed, but c'mon.So I went full super-nice and he still acted exasperated after I requested an additional plate to put some of my food for my baby.The margarita had so little alcohol in it i couldn't taste anything but sugar.Husband got the tacos, says they were the most flavorless generic tacos he's ever had.I got the chicken fajitas and I cannot tell you what the meat was. It has the weirdest consistency ever; I would describe it like the fatty bits when you get a steak but *fluffy*. Honestly it could have been chicken flavored tofu, but fluffier. There's no way it was regular chicken. Also the fajitas had like 3 slices of pepper and maybe 1/4th of an onion, so there wasn't much to work with once the chicken was ruled out.Will not be going back.No idea why this place has good reviews.
Adam White: I was immensely disappointed in my experience here. We walked into the restaurant for the first time, and were told in a rude way to grab our own menus and find somewhere to sit. We still gave it a chance, and the food was horrible. Everything tasted like it had been microwaved, and the waiter was not kind at all. Don’t go here, and instead go to the very good Mexican food truck up the road called Beirock. This place was glorified cafeteria food.

Omar Bicy: Restaurant is very nice! I was treated by a young handsome guy, he made me feel like I mattered! He even helped me order my food, which it was my first time eating here. I ordered the Ground Beef Chimichunga and a Chicken Quesadilla. As I sat and waited for my order to be done, I was sitting and noticed that the Atmosphere was very High in Spirits and Happy vibes. The Owner, I'm assuming, was Super Friendly and also was very Handsome. His playful demeanor was pleasant. I felt like I was a part of a family. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. I went to lunch with 3 other colleagues and we all agreed the food was bad. The food is what I'd expect in a high school cafeteria. We had margaritas too. They were the weakest margs I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. The last thing that killed this review is the staff was rude. Incredibly rude. The man waiting on us behaved like it was an inconvenience. It was like we walked into his private home and demanded he cook us lunch. As if this wasn't a restaurant at all. The place wasn't busy and yet it felt like the waiter wanted to get us to leave as fast a possible. Food 1/5, friendliness 1/5, but the place was clean. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking to eat at Mexican restaurant.

Ivy Lokojarvi: This is my go-to when I have a craving for Mexican. They’ve always been consistent and the food has always been fresh. I’ve only gotten takeout so I haven’t had any dine-in experiences but staff has always been friendly. I see a lot of people complaining about lack of spice or flavor but I think it’s just right. You can always order extra sauce or salsa if you want extra spicy. An overall healthier and customizable Mexican food option.

Adam Wright: Food was over price for what you got you had to pay for extra salsa and chips which no other Mexican restaurant does, the price for shots of any type of liquor we’re so vastly out of proportion with the price value of the liquor. the beef was extremely dry, and had no detectable seasoning, not to mention the the rubbery corn tortillas used to make the tacos. I guess that’s about what you can expect from a Mexican place thats in a strip mall.

B: Ordered a carnitas taco. 1) it wasn't fried. 2) it had so many fatty pieces, not edible. Also ordered a tinga quesadilla and was given a veggie quesadilla. But by far the grossest thing was the churrasco wrap. The picture on the menu does not even represent what is given to you. It was a bunch of mayo with some soupy, store bought coleslaw, and a few pieces of unseasoned steak meat. It's crazy to me that people find this place good. Service was very slow, their dining area was sketchy, and the chips was so not tasty. Take the extra drive and go to S.W. Detroit for the real deal.
Leanne Horvath: Found this place simply through a Google search and I'm so glad I did. The food was excellent, the staff was pleasant and helpful, the pricing was very affordable especially for the amount of food we got, and I couldn't recommend it enough. I took some pozole for leftovers and I was dreaming about it the next day, it was just that good. Will absolutely be coming back!

Leah Z: I placed an order through GrubHub to Tmaz, hoping only that the food was better than a recent order to a competitor in Saline, MI. My expectations were admittedly low, but here's the thing, I'm pregnant, and the cravings are real, and all I could think about was guacamole and tacos. I ordered three soft tacos, all with different protein (Tinga, Barbacoa, and Al Pastor), and they were AMAZING. Flavorful, not dry, really excellent texture. The rice and beans weren't just an afterthought, they too were full of great flavor, and the guacamole was excellent. Compared to my recent order with the competitor, where I could only stomach the guacamole (and it wasn't great), this was a completely different experience, with each meal item being a real delight.Additionally, I ordered with Grubhub, and my order arrived 40 minutes early, which really tackled my "hangry" feelings effectively. 10/10, Tmaz is my new go-to for cravings. Suzette Wanninkhof: The food is decent and affordable, and the staff is friendly. The tortilla chips are lackluster (just taste like basic grocery store ones), but the huarache is delicious.
Paige Brown: The menu that is at the front door is different in price (cheaper) the menu at the register. The menu at the front doesn't tell you that you pay for the taco fillings and is listed as $0.25 cheaper/taco. We weren't offered any help and the tacos are pretty basic for the price. We definitely paid too much for what we got. 6 basic tacos and two sodas for $40. The food was good though and even though we didn't get much service, the service wasn't rude or anything. 3 stars - it's okay.

erin sarah: What lovely Monday treat after an hike. For the Cubano, the chicken and grilled jalapeno made my mouth so happy! Balanced beutifully! For the Ahogada Torta, could not have been happier with the early rich spiciness of the Guajillo/arbol sauce. AND THAT CARNITAS...will keep coming back for it. Barbara Weaver: The online ordering charged me and didn’t place the order. Wound up waiting an hour and some changes over my initial wait. When we finally got the order it was missing an entire meal. Having to go back in multiple times to insure we got everything. Once we returned home the churros had white strands that looked like plastic on top.

beatrice williams: Delivery was quick and my order was accurate. My tacos and rice were good. The beans were undercooked. The chips were so stale, they weren’t edible. The guacamole had a decent flavor, but had tomatoes and onions. Personally, I don’t think guacamole should have anything but avocados, lime, cilantro, and a little salt. It was just too chunky for me so the guac and chips was a complete waste of money for me.
