New Moon Midwifery: what do users think?
Hailey Grace: Metta and Katie were my midwives for my first home birth. They took time throughout my prenatal care to ask questions, get to know me and what I wanted for my birth. Katie and Metta are extremely knowledgeable and made sure all my questions and concerns were addressed. My husband and I are so grateful that they attended our home birth and made the experience so special. I love that they are a part of my birth story and that they did everything they could to make my family was safe and supported. I will always look back at my birth experience with them as empowering, transformative, and beautiful.

Mother Earth Midwifery: what do users think?
Elizabeth Wilder: There are not adequate words to describe the amazing care I received under Helen and Ashley (student) at Mother Earth Midwifery. This was my third delivery and first homebirth. I knew within minutes of meeting these women that I wanted them by my side for my homebirth journey. With each checkup, they not only assessed the health of my baby but they also thoroughly assessed my heath. They focused both on my physical and emotional health. This was the first pregnancy that my appointments lasted more than 30 minutes and that my emotional health was a priority. They were easily accessible for questions that I had and kept meticulous appointment notes that were available for me to review. Consent was asked before assessments and an explanation was given so that I knew what was being assessed and why it was important. I always had the opportunity to say no if I was not comfortable. Helen was a wealth of knowledge when it came to natural remedies that were both safe for me and baby. My pregnancy was just shy of lasting 42 weeks but they kept me calm and reassured me that my body was in control and to be confident that my baby would come when it was ready. The birth was the most beautiful experience I could have ever imagined. Helen and Ashley were encouraging, supportive, and let me be in control. My postnatal care was just as wonderful. I cannot recommend Mother Earth Midwifery enough!
Bethany Stauffer: Amazing Midwife! The practice is so patient and holistically focused. They delivered my first baby and I couldn’t have been more grateful for there care, expertise, and love. Can’t recommend them enough!
Emily Hilden: I will rave about Mother Earth Midwifery to anyone who will listen! I worked primarily with Helen and Khadijah and from the moment I met them we connected. Their bedside manner is unmatched, they made me feel completely comfortable and talked me through everything all qualities that I never found in an OBGYN. They helped me have a dream labor and delivery at home at 41 weeks and 4 days. Khadijah answered every middle of the night text, every “dumb” question, and provided me the best emotional support in those last weeks of pregnancy when I felt emotionally drained. I just had my last appointment with them postpartum and I feel sad I won’t be seeing them every few weeks anymore. I can’t wait for my next pregnancy to work with them again!
Amanda Whitmore: I had my first homebirth in June, after having 3 hospital births, all with epiderals. Helen, and her student Ashley, we're wonderful. I interacted mostly with Ashley since she's learning, and she was great. Very open communication, personable, willing to take as long as needed with each appointment and never feel rushed. Towards the end I wasn't going into labor on my own, and they were great, helped me start labor and still be able to have a home birth. They made me feel very confident and comfortable. A very great experience and I would recommend them!
Amanda Clare: Helen helped us birth our second child at home just a few months ago. We loved her straightforward and honest communication throughout the process and how helpful and knowledgable she was through my pregnancy. I have a few minor things that I have to be mindful of during birth and we chose Helen based on her experience with the same issues. We also connected with her so effortlessly at our initial visit. We will definitely continue to work with Helen for any other children we may have.
Hope Michaud: Helen provided knowledgeable care during my entire pregnancy and birth. She was a great support when I shared how I felt about birth after loss and provided helpful resources. Her knowledge of homeopathy was also helpful!
Misti Delaney: It was 18 years ago. I was late in pregnancy with an unplanned late-life child. (My previous child had been born 21 years before my due date.)I cried often because I was afraid - I was not a good candidate for home birth, because I was old, fat, and diabetic but despite my best efforts on behalf of my child, the doctors were making dire predictions about the likely health of my baby. I was terrified that I would be forced into a "precautionary cesarean section" , that the doctors recommended regularly. They expected my child to be born huge and very ill despite my very tight blood sugar control. After just over six months of these dire predictions and terrors, I met Helen in a book store, at a meetup on a topic of mutual interest. She was warm, funny, reassuring, gentle, and just what I needed to bolster my confidence. After interviewing me about my health, my diet, my expectations, and my lifestyle, she agreed to assist me with the birth with the understanding that at the first sign of trouble we would transport and she would act as my doula. She soothed my fears and helped me to prepare for as natural a birth as was possible in whatever circumstances we would face. She was able to explain to me what was happening and why. (Late life pregnancy feels very different to pregnancy in the first flush of youth.) When we, unsurprisingly, needed to transport, I was able to remain calm. With Helen on board, I felt secure that nothing would happen to me and my baby unless it was genuinely for the baby's wellbeing. All was well. The baby was a little less than average size and in robust good health, born in an unmedicated vaginal birth, just as I had hoped. Thanks to Helen, what had been developing into a terrifying situation turned out to be a really beautiful experience - and Helen stayed with me through those early days, making sure my baby and I were well and thriving.Today that baby is almost grown - he has a beard and moustache! - but when I think of those long ago days it is with gratitude to Helen. I still hear the song she sang to me through my labour to help me stay calm and centered. It still makes me tear up and smile. Thank you, Helen. With an extra two decades of experience behind her, and knowing how cautious Helen is, I can comfortably recommend her services to expectant families. She's wonderful!
Amanda Main: I had a bad experience with a hospital during my first pregnancy that was lost and swore I wouldn’t go to one again. I found Helen and after our first visit I knew I was in good hands. She was knowledgeable but also very caring and supportive! There were so many things as soon to be new parents, that we were clueless about; and she always had patience with us and took the time to explain in great detail. Pregnancy brain was real for me and once again she always showed such kindness and patience with me when I knew it was probably the 3rd time explaining something. I didn’t have many friends or family in the area and really looked forward to what became weekly visits toward the end. Especially with my body and emotions constantly changing it was amazing to have her walk me through my pregnancy every step of the way. I can’t forget Ashley! Helen would come with her assistant or midwife in training and between the two of them, I started to feel excited about the process and the labor instead of fearful. The home visits made a big difference for me, I could be comfortable in my own home. Especially on those days I was super tired or not feeling good (which were often). They always understood and always gave the best advice and recommendations for remedies. Preparing for a baby is a lot to say the least and I don’t know how I could have done it without them. Another thing I really loved was how she educated me on how child birth and care for both baby and mother should be. During my labor they also helped with pain and pressure through different touch techniques and not did they help!! My after care was loving and thorough! It was such a joy too be able to have them there because they had been by my side throughout the whole process. They were able to share my joy with a baby they had known since the first time I heard her heart beat. It really is something special to share. Then the quarantine happened. Helen still made sure to give us our checkups through video chat since we were very protective over our new wee one. And had left the door open for us if we ever have questions or need to talk in the future. Love and miss them both. I highly recommend!💖
H H: Our family had an awful experience with this midwife--Helen Stockton, but she also uses the last names Eggertsen and McDonald. Her behavior was very unprofessional and she is very lacking in both her knowledge and bedside manner. When we questioned her about her payment policy, credentials and experiences, we were discharged from her care. That proved to be a blessing, because she was involved with a breech delivery in 2018, and the baby sadly did not survive. If you Google her name, the story comes up from local news websites. This isn't a fake review. Our family really did work briefly with her and, based on our experiences, would not recommend her to anyone. We don't want anyone to have the experience that we did or a terrible outcome for the mother, baby, or both.
mrsatausch: Finding out I was pregnant, I knew I did not want to deliver in a hospital. Helen was able to accommodate our financial situation which was an absolute blessing to make my home birth dreams a reality. I was a low-risk pregnancy, no complications, both mom and baby healthy the whole time. I am incredibly happy with the prenatal care and birth support I received from Helen and her team.
Mykela Reardon: Helen is an amazing midwife and woman and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone! I've had 2 homebirths with her and each one was incredibly beautiful and empowering. She was very thorough, informative and caring during my care with her each time and her team behind her were just as amazing! Helen is so knowledgeable about all birth (and herb!) things related, it's very reassuring and comforting. I've learned so much from her and am forever grateful for having met her. I really can't say enough great things about Helen, she has impacted my entire family forevermore.
Adarsa Antares: I am a retired certified professional midwife. I worked with Helen for many many years. She is extremely professional, competent, and compassionate. I always felt secure in knowing Helen had experience and ability. I highly recommend her for any family and birth experience.
Emily Lewis: Helen delivered both of my kids. If I ever had a third I would run right back to her! She is absolutely amazing!
Shaiya Trimble: Helen is the kindest and most professional midwife you could ever have the joy of employing. She is communicative and receptive, and goes above and beyond for her clients.
Jessalyn Eddy: I hired Helen as our home birth midwife for my first birth in 2017. Helen was amazing throughout my entire pregnancy, and I highly recommend hiring her if you're wanting a home birth. She has an immense amount of experience, and her passion and love for her clients and work show through in every visit. My mother had reservations about a home birth, but Helen put her at ease and now she loves recommending her, and home birth, to everyone. I couldn't have asked for better, more attentive care, and I will definitely hire Helen again if we have another baby. If you're considering a home birth and want to know if it's the right fit, I highly encourage you to reach out to Helen and let her answer your questions.
Danike Parvu: My midwife always hires on a second midwife to attend her births in case something goes wrong. Helen was the midwife she hired for my two home births. She is amazing: you can tell she actually cares about you, she is incredibly knowledgeable and intelligent... She is quick on her feet and problems solves in a flash. I can't say enough good things about her. ❤️
Elizabeth miller: I have had 3 births, my first 2 were the typical hospital visits anyone would normally have. But i have always longed to have a home birth. By my third pregnancy I needed to fulfill my dream, and I was so thankful to have Helen by my side! She made the whole experience that much more amazing. I had regular visits as any pregnancy, but what really spoke to me was when she would sit there with me and just talk to me. Opening up about any concerns I might have, what natural approaches we can take to help with nausea, my fear of having my first birth without an epidural. She made me feel like I was important at all times, not just another patient. At the point of labor she was so supportive, helping with pressure points when my contractions really kicked in, but she encouraged me to follow my bodies lead and do what felt natural. When my daughter showed signs of a lip and tongue tie she came back the very next day to reverse them so we had the best breastfeeding experience. I could honestly go on and on about how amazing my experience with Helen was but i would really like to encourage you to try it. It was the best experience of my life and I really hope anyone who reads this has an amazing experience too! I highly reccomend mother earth midwifery, i am now on my second pregnancy with Helen and couldn't be happier!
Mrs Maddox: Helen is amazing. Definitely recommend! Her years of expertise in midwifery care shows in how warm and welcoming she is with every part of your prenatal and postnatal care. I knew as soon as I became pregnant that I wanted to have a home birth in a birthing pool. I searched for a midwife using Google. It thankfully didn't take long for me to find her on Michigan Midwives Association. I interviewed her and I immediately knew from her spirit that I would give birth in her care from the initial consultation visit. Throughout my pregnancy up until giving birth and my last postnatal visit, Helen had provided excellent care. She was very professional and knowledgeable, I felt like she really helped me prepare for birth. The actually labor and delivery experience at home was amazing. I felt very supported and safe and we had a beautiful home water birth in my living room. In the future, I would definitely use her services to bring my children into the world when we eventually have another. 10/10 experience!
Liana Toy: During my birth, Helen was someone who made me feel safe and supported. She made me so comfortable. I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone who wants a beautiful birth that helps them feel empowered and heard. Helen, thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ You’re experience, knowledge, and passion makes your practice incredible and I’m thankful to be able to call you my midwife ✌️✨
Cory Jennings: Helen was absolutely amazing and we are so grateful to have had her as our midwife!
Megan Nelson: We loved Helen! I credit her to having a great birth experience. She was knowledgeable and gave amazing prenatal care. I can't thank her enough for helping me birth my daughter! She is seriously an expert!
