VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System: what do users think?
Brion Perry: The doctors assigned to me and the staff have always been good but do not go to emergency room around morning shift change. Line of people in triage and I'm waiting with a family member who is having trouble breathing and we are being told we will be gotten too after shift change. Almost had to call 911 from waiting g room.
Kathleen O'Rourke: To the man behind me in line complaining he wasn't getting his turn fast enough, don't you have a ladies room to go cry in!?ER is good here thank you. Typical VA mess, expect a suicide conversation with the pre-recorded machine multiple times before getting through to someone 50/50 chance gives a darn. Once this initial fubar passes it slowly gets better🤯 Hang in There👆 All bathrooms are unisex, expect a sick man to come out of every door when it opens.
Donald Mature: They were helpful and efficient.
Tahlia Grace: The VA is the worst healthcare system I have experienced. They schedule appointments without consulting me and when I do need an appointment I have to wait 3+ months, and they consistently fail to send me prescriptions on time even when I request refills several weeks in advance.
Clare Corcoran: I recently underwent surgery at this facility for ACDF (cervical spine fusion) and the surgical and anesthesiology teams were excellent, as well as the post-op care. The nurses I had during my inpatient stay were very compassionate and supported me through all my needs from pain medication to toilet assistance. As a female veteran, I felt very respected and supported by the nursing and surgical staff. Thank you all so very much. The food is also better than I expected, and after my first night, I could order customized meals to help with my recovery (soft foods diet and type 1 diabetic).
Mike L: TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! I went in just to get established with a Primary Care Doctor and I was there for over 2 HOURS!! I was also surprised by THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE BY THE PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. THE WHOLE VISIT WAS TOTALLY. UNACCEPTABLE. I expected so much more out of this hospital and left there EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
Chad Beckey: The ER person tonight was so rude and didn't have any compassion. It was like we were interrupting her Facebook time. Now I understand why people don't like to goto the VA. Really need to look into the staff that's employed there. I understand that there are protocols in place for a reason. But your the front desk and the first person people see. Gives the VA a bad impression.
Carl Rockwood: The worst health care imaginable. I was in prosthetics with a torn knee and was given a business card to call to receive a knee brace. I would have to make a 2nd appointment, wait 9 days, and drive 208 miles more to receive a knee brace. I complained to the staff and got security called on me. I went to Walmart and purchased one for 26.00. I'm on home O2 and all of my oxygen equipment is sitting in my lawn waiting on the VA contractor (First Community Care) to pick up. FCC dropped off the equipment with no instructions or support. Repeated calls to VA pulmonary and FCC Have been met with lies and so many disappointments I have decided it is better to die without O2 than deal with the VA or its contractors. I implore all who read this to get your family and friends out of the VA Death care system. They kill more good Americans than all of our enemies combined. I have complained so much to the staff, patients advocates(actually the VA's advocate) and now I resort to this last form of protest......Addendum: On Feb8 2023 Humana provided me with O2. I survived without O2 for six months. I almost died waiting. The Ann Arbor VA Advocates called me and wanted this review taken down. Both who called were angry. They really didn't care about my mortality. I am proud to be a service connected disabled veteran. I served again as a DOD contractor (O4-GS12) in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I will serve again if needed. But the VA can suck my balls.....
STEVE: March 2023Veterans using VHA facilities in Michigan be aware you don't have civil rights protections once any staff makes a disruptive behavior report on you and the social workers find you guilty. This is permanent, it can't be amended, done in secret and provides no due process. The result of this not only may result in imprisonment but also feeds into algorithms that drive care decisions.September 2022 After years of being denied care and being flagged after I made a report about PMR they are now providing care again!May 2022 Egregious misuse of prevention programs to cover sentinel and other events. Years of medication errors and reprisals for reporting them. When you get good care it is great but if you have a problem and you will be blamed for causing it and dropped from care.November updateIf two years ago you had problems with rehabilitation, pain or MH, made a complaint, you should review records, request FOIA for patient advocate system records and DBC records. Many policies are dated, misused or incorrect at this system. This is time critical, send SF95 by end of the month for treatment errors occurring in January 2020.October updateIf system PMR staff caused you harm over the last 2 years you need to submit SF95 form ASAP to insure your rights are protected.Ethics, honor and patient rights rot under VA AA PMR care with mental health taking second place.September 2021 update. The administration of this hospital is really bad and is turning the entire system into a waste. They are using inappropriate labeling of veterans in responce to patient reports and inquiries.August 2021 update.Still refused services and treatment for using the correct and protected procedure for reporting errors in care. VA OIG reviewed and failed to follow up.100 percent disabled Veteran with no criminal or legal problems denied treatment and access to VA facilities for reporting to Congress that I hadn't had any communication from my assigned provider for a year despite changes and discontinuation of treatments without notice or cause. The Director's staff and service staff have confirmed on the record the physician was and is wrong.February 2021 update. The Director and Chief staff of the health care system have falsly accused me of wrongdoing to Congress, OSC, OIG and law enforcement in response to my protected reporting of physicians and staff. I have had services denied and treatment withheld. No mandatory reporting is followed by this healthcare system. The hospital director doesn't investigate and fraudulently responds to official inquiries with fabrications. When audio and health records are provided to oversight as proof, no one will to take action, some because they assume someone else will. SF 95s are ignored. VA MDs and UofM Fellows/residents have reported to the same healthcare systems leadership and oversight about the harm being done with no action, dozens of other veterans have been in contact but are scared as many have already been retaliated against for reporting greavences. Some of the patient advocates assist the leadership in discourging and covering up the number and type of greavences being received. The VA police are used to intimidate and silence, the directors office and VA police on multiple occasions with, no signed orders or due process, have contacted me to restrict my rights and threaten my wife and I directly. OIG, Congress, VA General counsel and VA Secretary office all have done nothing. This Healthcare system doesn't follow Joint Commission, US code, VA policy or quality and safety standards. The VA OIG has repeatedly found that VA Ann Arbor refuses to provide required information, has noncompliant services, noncompliant wait times and fraudulently responded with oversight on a continual basis.
Domonique Woodard: I didn’t give it 1 star because until yesterday I had always had a favorable experience at this hospital but you guys need to take a look at the staff you have working in your ER… they were incredibly rude back to back so it must be a culture thing in that department. They lacked empathy or even how to talk to someone with decency I was honestly disgusted and disappointed. My family comes here often and is usually pleased but not on March 16th.
We Me: Great doctors and nurses. Entire medical staff and employees are always there to help. Best health care I ever experienced.
kayla samuels: The doctors, nurses and care staff are great. The administration and the social workers we worked with should be ashamed of themselves. After repeatedly refusing a long term memory care placement for our loved one, due to concerns about the facility, we were eventually bullied into agreeing to letting him go. We received no guidance from the social workers through the process of trying to apply for Medicaid and were subsequently denied twice. We later found out the facility and va have a contract, that’s why they pushed it so hard. They also attempted to withhold information from us, were rude, condescending, and threatening among other things. I’m sure some individuals who work here care about the patients, but the social workers we worked with did not care about us or our family. They cared only about adhering to arbitrary policies and were not forthcoming with information. Definitely not ethical social work practice, that’s for sure.
Quenton Ross: Called cardiology procedures department to reschedule. No one answered. I left a message and no one called me back. I also was supposed to receive a call from the optometry department to schedule my follow-up appointment. They never called. It's discouraging.
Philip Thompson: Efficient, Courteous
Grant Pinson: Worst mental health facility in michigan. Secretary called high as a kit. 2nd video visit 5 months after initial. Unsat. Do not recommend.
Gary Korzeniewski: Great Healthcare for Veterans.
Chris Roper: It is telling when a VA doctor tells you that your better off having private hPrary health insurance and only relying on the VA system as a backup
Michael Hermann: I'm so tired of being passed around. Being denied medical treatment, medicine, and just not listened to. Can't ever see a doctor when I need to, appointments are 8 to 12 months out or your denied because you'vealready seen a doctor the pervoius year. Not once in the past three years have I seen the same doctor. I'm filing a formal complaint. Changes need to be made to this hospital. I can't believe they get away with this. This hospital is a perfect example for a failing health care system.
James Whittum: Excellent as always
Mo Mo: I sued the VAMC and the specific doctors for not providing me with the "Standard of Care" practiced at all hospitals and Won a settlement of $150,000. I encourage others to do the same. If they come to you and admit hurting you, then want you to sign away your rights for some amount, Don't Do It! See an attorney first. There are attorneys that will take you case, even though they may not be able to charge "You," because they Can charge the Government if it goes to court.
Gerald Sheffer: I just had my second bladder surgery and their team was AWESOME. I give them five stars. However the urinology clinic only gets two because of their lack of communication. I've tried numerous phone calls to them and never get a human. And getting a return call, forget about it. I've been to them on several occasions and with 3 people sitting at the reception desk there's not one excuse for not answering calls

University Hospital: what do users think?
Pattie Russell: Very friendly staff service was fast good
Donna Jones: Have been dealing with u of m Rogel Cancer Center for over 2 years for my partner and have had a great experience with them ALL. I ask many many questions after losing my father to another hospital's neglect. All my questions are answered with utmost respect and explanation is understandable. I drive over an hour for 15 minutes of radiation and can't say I would go anywhere else the trip is more than worth it to have him here with us after 2 very aggressive cancers in 3 years. Way to go U of M I appreciate all you do.
Kames Keedmen: 4 to 5 hour minimum wait time, still sitting hallway cold with no pain shot or pillows after bumpy ambulance ride here, limited options, stated haven't ate for days but still try to give dry motrin with no water for spinal injury, nurse says if I can't breath it's ok to pass out here. Less fraternizing more work = less wait time, this place has definitely went downhill considering it's not even full pandemic. No urgency. Not worth the long ride here. No admitting rooms for other emergency patients they full with covid patients who need to be home quarantining in the first place def not fair to other patients
Karen Hengesbach: Love U of M . Here for help. Feeling blessed
Richard Gerringer: Came in for a very painful boil that dr Rachel was so helpful and carful with, took her time and listened when I asked for a break, could not recommend this ER enough after so many bad experiences at others. Also my ultrasound tech was so sweet and explained everything I loved her!
Chris H: Absolutely atrocious hospital. At first it seemed like a good hospital but after 6 years I've discovered it most definitely is not. In addition to many wasted trips when our local hospitals were deemed incapable of doing even simple tests by the doctors at UofM they have caused significant issues to my wife's health and this week we even had a Dr provide completely inaccurate and dangerous information which was refuted an hour later by another member of the same team. The best part was when the Dr then lied about it and said we just didn't understand what he meant. All in all this is a hospital to avoid at all costs unless you feel like gambling with your health because you see fake rave reviews for it.
Jelly Being: I stupidly gave this hospital a FOURTH chance because of how they used to be years ago. First filthy room and left post in w/no IV bag despite vomiting. . They dismissed my blood work saying everything was fine. I could barely breathe and begged for chest X-ray, along with thyroid panels. They again said I was fine. My Dr called, she couldn’t believe they didn’t admit me. My thyroid panels showed being in middle of a thyroid storm, so sick I can’t take it anymore. They also said my X-rays were fine which right afterwards another Dr said X-rays showed my body rejecting titanium which had to be removed immediately. They are the worst hospital in this country, which is sad since they used to be the best.
Page Salyers: Saved my life.
Laura Miller: Got in an out pretty quickly
Kristin Walker: This was my grandmothers 2nd admission to the hospital in the last 6 months. Her first visit wasn't too bad, I was kept informed throughout her stay and was contacted for any tests or procedures that needed approval (she has severe memory loss and I am her DPOA). This second visit the only calls I received were regarding discharging her. I was not told of anything that was wrong or being done, I didn't find anything out until her discharge paperwork was done. She also had a heart monitor when she went into the hospital, which was missing when she was sent to the rehab. No one can tell me what happened to it. They said they didn't even know she had one on, yet they were doing scans that would have needed it removed for. She still had the sticker for her sensor which left a big rash on her chest because it was supposed to be removed after 5 days. Now she will have to pay for the cost of the sensor.I'm just overall disappointed in the communication and disorganization this time around.
U Coward: Best views
Kyle Freeman: Valet parking at the er today is horrible! They got one new guy and he can't contact his supervisor! They are parking cars in the ambulance bays! Horrendous!
Jennifer Beitzel: My review is for dealing with staff and their backward policies, beware if you are trying to deliver something to a patient! I had a cookie delivery meant for a friend that was bedridden. The delivery person was not allowed to the room to deliver it (which I understand for COVID), but the staff then made them place the delivery on the window sill at reception and wouldn’t touch it. I called to ask about this and the staff said the patient (who, again, cannot get out of bed) has to come down and get it as she did not have a visitor that day to help. So… you allow a visitor to come in and out to see the patient, but you can’t just put on a pair of gloves and deliver a gift? Just shows me the kind of attitude the staff has for sick patients.
rodriguezmisc: Great location with an extensive services from general medical practitioners, lab work, testing..you name it they have it. Dr. Cooke and his staff are always amazing and efficient. His patient and caring demeanor, always makes me feel at home.
Jacob Kowski: 25 minute waiting at pharmacy. This is unacceptable. This is a basic service
Ralph C: Very helpful
Marsha Numerich: A great big huge thank you to the surgical and urological teams who went to bat for me today, January 26.
Rebecca Roughton: I really respect my PCP, I had a very respectful time getting a breast examination, and the scheduling was a breeze. The wait for an appointment might be a few weeks out, but the quality is unmatched.
william bland: Best childs hospital around very great and caring staff
KeriAnn76: No snacks not even Popsicles! Makes it hard to get through the night when you are use to eating small every 3-4hrs
Getting It In: Came to visit my elderly relative and his roommate yelled at me and my child basically cause he wanted his own room. So they lied and said I didn't follow the visiting rules because they were full and couldn't move him. Beware that name doesn't mean what it used to and the staff are out of control and will lie to serve them. All the 4 stars are employees or friends of employees.
