Scott Lytle Sr.: The walk very nice, HOWEVER, the stench from the Ann Arbor sewage treatment plant is overwhelming. The EPA needs to do something.
M F: Lovely walk
Justinian Herzog: Remote (for the area) stretch of marshy riverbank next to a largish stretch of river without much development. All adds up to being a great wildlife habitat to see some of the more shy critters the Huron River has to showVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More
Azmi Kandalaft: Much forest, very wow
Timothy Keebler: Nice nature area with interesting ecology. This is accessed via the Gallup Park Pathway and then a trail off of that along the Fleming Creek. You don't actually enter Forest Nature Area until you go under the railroad bridge (which is old stone arch construction, pretty cool). The entire park is elevated boardwalk which is in the process of being repaired. The most noteworthy feature is natural seeps, which have very thick layers of peat. Good signage. Plan your visit based on the wind direction, since it is near a sewage plant and the smell is quite strong.

Saginaw Forest Trailhead: what do users think?
Chantelle Cook: Natural, wild and beautifulDog-friendliness: YesRecommended activities Walking, Hiking, Running, Biking, Dog Walking, Birdwatching …More
Rosee: Lovely trail loop that can be enjoyed all year long (although it gets really muddy after a hard rain). It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, which is a nice treat. Hopefully it remains peaceful after the new development is complete.Recommended activities Walking, Birdwatching Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …More
Naomi Kane: Beautiful! And so close to downtown Ann Arbor. Paths are well maintained with the exception of some downed trees but not too hard to get over. My dog loved it. Park in the left back of the 243 church- google sent us to liberty rd and there’s no parking there.Recommended activities Walking, Hiking, Dog Walking Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …More
Sarah Cohen: Active cleanup site of the states second largest toxic dioxane plume. Epicenter is Third Sisters Lake.
Arif Daniel: Beautiful scenery and love the new mulch and Pete gravel to soak up the mud by the cabin and garage
Waleed Vaid: Rustic trail available just west of Ann Arbor. Completing the loop around the lake takes approximately 1 hour. The trail includes multiple overlook points onto the lake as well as a pavilion area for picnics. Best entrance is on Wagner road where the parking lot is right near the trailhead.Picnic area: Picnic area and pavilion is available near the beginning of the trail when starting from the Wagner road trailhead.
A Person: Former logging plantation preserved with various unpaved trails, surrounded by lush vegetation in all sides.Boardwalks lead through marshy areas that are a joyful spot for birders, while the majority of the forest thrives with an abundance of chipmunks and squirrels. Fields of goldenrod in the late summer and early fall are a particularly scenic view.Placards throughout the trail network detail the history of the land, its use and the fascinating process of preserving its crucial ecosystems.Trails can be icy in the winter and muddy at various times throughout the year; paths may also narrow with vegetation overgrowth or wet conditions. Not recommended for wheelchairs or strollers that are not meant for offroad use; even then, trail width may be an issue in some areas. No railing on boardwalks over marshes.Pet friendly, but not a place for the reactive or skittish animal due to the narrow trail. Please clean up after your pet (trash cans at trail heads) and keep them leashed.Picnic area: One picnic shelter with multiple tables and trash cans near the Wagner Road trailhead.
Ross Acheson: Great place for a 1.5 mile hike with forest and small lake views. Took off a star because there's no good place to park at the Liberty Rd trailhead.
Marcus H. Boone: Very Scenic! Nice, long trails!
Paul Underwood: Great place for a quiet walk in the woods. Nice in the summer as most of the trails are in shade.
Noah: Nice place.
Louise Langdon: Magical at any time of year. Spring is hard to beat though.
Selena B.: Not well marked, but the trails tend to loop back around and are not super long so we were not concerned about getting lost. Very well groomed especially for all the snow we had! There were hikers, dogs, cross-country skiers, and snowshoers on the trail.
Lissa Perrin: Near our home, Saginaw Forest has walking trails through woods and by small lakes. There are interpretive signs along the way. It's a good place to walk or ski.
sophie miles: Nice trails
Barry Ryder: The trail can be icy.On the trails it packs down.Good to have cleats of some sort.We did 3.7 miles. To weave through most of the trails one time with a small amount of overlap might be 6 miles.
Mark Thiesmeyer: Love running here!
Marsha Penner: First time here. Won't be my last. Beautiful woods and hilly terrain. Lovely lakes. Can't wait to visit during all seasons. Easy and ample parking.
Donna Johnston: Park at the trailhead off Wagner Road and walk into a lush and beautiful forest. There are plaques with historical and botanical information about how this place came to be. It's a peaceful place to walk. Third Sister Lake is a center piece teeming with water fowl. Wear sturdy shoes as the pathways can be a little uneven in places.
Nicholas Cole: Pretty cool
Emily Lewis: Very pretty nature trail! There are lots of mosquitos around the lake, so wear bug spray. The path was not maintained as well as I would hope. There were a lot of down trees and stumps in the path which made hiking with small children and a wagon very hard. If my kids we just a bit older (say over 4) I think it would be a better trail for them. It’s pet friendly as well so it’s a great place to walk your dogs! I recommend this trail if you’re interested in a nice hike with your family or dog, just make sure you don’t bring a wagon or stroller, it won’t make it through the trail.

Zechariah Gardner: I broke down on the side of the highway near here. Many of my friends have had bad experiences near here. It is cursed.Visited on Weekend Wait time 1 hr+ Reservation recommended Not sure …More
Steve B: Fine the d*** this place was awesome.
Kosta El Greco: Great place for a hike!Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More
Timothy Keebler: A nice addendum to Bird Hills Nature Area. There is no parking on Huron River Drive; you have to park on Hampstead Lane or walk in. I particularly like the meadow, which is especially pretty in the early fall as the grasses start to dry out. Part of the path is very wide and well-mown, with the rest through the grasses and narrow/occasionally muddy. It's not a large nature area in itself, but is worth the time because it connects to others.
diesel james: Great trails in this nature area!
Esteban Chavez: Tiny trucks for life!
Aaron Pressel: Really nice. One of the best parks in the area.
Megan Robbins: It’s time to clean up the Superfund site near this previously gorgeous park. Citizens, make Kuebler Corp. clean up the pollution in the air and in the water near this “nature reserve.”
Mike Clar: Nice place to just relax
Donald Hunsche: Nice park but main trail has an area that is always muddy in the spring, summer and fall, and dangerously icy in winter. Wish the city would spread some rocks so the water would drain through and be passable underfoot.
David Lamb: If you are a runner in Ann Arbor, check this space out. It is possible to string together a 5-7 mile route starting at Argo, looping up to the Barton Nature Area, then Bird Hill/Kuebler and ending through Bandemer. This became my absolute favorite run in town. In the summer, it's nice because of the birds, trees and hills. In the winter, it's absolute peace and quite when you are running the stretch through Bird Hill.
Stephen Taylor: Less frequently used walking area that is great for walking dogs and, if they are well trained, letting them run up and down steep hills.
MacK D: Great trails
Mike Black: It's a semi challenging trail
