Matthew Spoor: Nice nature area tucked away along a glacial moraine. Oak hickory forest and prairie habitat. Fair number of mountain bikers here.
Timothy Keebler: Reasonable nature area most popular for R/C cars. A decent number of trails, but some are right next to each other. I don't know if a map exists but definitely not all of the trails are on it. Some rolling hills, a small patch of prairie. Parking was unmarked when I went there, but don't try to park across the street and take your chances with four lanes of traffic!
Max Herzog: This is nice for the location. Good place for a brief hike through the woods. It doesn't quite feel like an "escape" per se as you are always within close proximity to either a major roadway or residential areas but it is a nice little park nonetheless.
Josh Burdick: Pretty scenic.
WhackedMaki: A nice place to walk through, with a lot of hills to get a decent workout in.
John Tauchus: Small ish with slot of hills
Laís Petri: Nice park with easy access. I recommend downloading the map for Ann Arbor natural areas to have a sense where you are when in there
Bruce Geffen: Great area to commune with nature.
الاثر الطيب: I love this place it is beautiful🌹❤️
Nacho Goatcheese: Most of the "paths" or "trails" dont exist anymore.
Lora Boone: Beautiful area for a busy place as it is.
Glen Shaw: Nice park.
neil covington: Nice urban park. Nice views
Robert Mags: Beautiful and serine, really takes you away from the city life
daniel zeimet: peaceful nice for walks
Guy Beauregard: Beautiful! I had no idea this was here. Gorgeous woods, some open spaces all hidden away. If it was not for a Geocache. I may never have visited. The hills are rather challenging but the views are worth it. Consider connecting a visit to the old girl Scout camp, Bird Hills and Baron Pond nature areas. It will be a very nice hike.
Laurent Fournier: Great park, very few people on the trails, and some nice elevation changes. best park for trail running in Ann Arbor. Make sure you have a GPS/phone, or an old fashion map of the park, because it will be very hard to find your way otherwise. The north entrance is not well marked, and possibly on a private property (medical office or something similar, never had any issue).
Suze Harrison: I go here often so I know my way around but I agree with others that it is hard to make your way around. It is bordered by Orkney Rd, the Catholic cemetery on Sunset, Huron View Blvd & N Main St. It's got some beautiful views across the river valley & if it weren't for the sound of traffic you would never know you're in Ann Arbor. I've seen fox, deer, a coyote (only once), opossum, raccoon & other creatures here. The Prairie on the south end of the park is amazing. Enjoy the park but leave your GPS on 😉

Barton Nature Area: what do users think?
Lauren B.: Fantastic trails with wonderful diversity of habitats and wildlife.
chetham brazill: Great time fishing
Benjamin Bxb8879: Such a cool little spot under the dam. Just have to watch out for the weirdo fishing off the tiny dock people use to launch and land kayaks. He wasn't interested in retrieving his line so we had to wait for several cast & reel cycles before he decided to pause to change bait.
Rick Sutton: Very peaceful! Large open trails for walking or riding.
Brainy Blonde: Wonderful park the water is beautiful
Abigail VB: Lovely trails and a nice place to have a picnic on the tables near the dam.
Rogelia “Roe” Sweeney: Lovely walk on a cool, crisp day!!!
Rachel Leggett: Great dirt walking trails through forest and grasslands near the Huron River. One of my favorite trails in Ann Arbor.
John Pellegrino: Great trails and much appreciated by so manyDog-friendliness: Dogs love it.
Barb K: My husband and I loved spending time together at Barton's Nature area over the years. We used to stand on the bridge and gaze out over the river, then walk the trail. It was a special place for us to spend time together and brings back precious memories of special times with my husband.
V Man: Beautiful scenery! The colors of the trees and the sun off the water...Parking was somewhat of an issue.Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed. They are supposed to be kept on a leash.
Vazir Fatehi: Great trail to take a leisurely walk or catch Fall colors, or just some time in nature. Can't get lost if you simply follow the path, which is a loop.
J Micallef: This place was nothing short of amazing. It was my first time, and while I wasn't prepared for the hilly hike, I enjoyed it thoroughly. So many awesome things to see too! Huge variety of mushrooms, wooly aphids, and so many birds and critters!Hiked for 2 hours. Lovely.
hallie hancock: The trails and river at the Barton Park, Huron River are beautiful. I saw kayakers and hikers. A great place to be .
Dilip Paul: Great place for a walk
Julie Kobylarz: We love this park! However, be mindful the trail is now closed on the other side of the dam leading across the train tracks. This messed up our loop quite a bit but we managed
yogesh bhete: Awesome , heaven
Venus Vegas: Went 🎣 fishing here.Didn't catch anything but we had fun 🤜💜🤛✌👏👏🦋
김민주김민주: 카누정류장~~~ 호수에 댐이 있었네.방류하는 모습을 볼수있다면 멋질텐데ㅡ오르막길을 올라서 보는 호수뷰는 멋지네요~~
Ivan Suminski: Always a pleasant walk! Trails can be muddy at times
V K: Love walking and fishing here

Timothy Keebler: A nice addendum to Bird Hills Nature Area. There is no parking on Huron River Drive; you have to park on Hampstead Lane or walk in. I particularly like the meadow, which is especially pretty in the early fall as the grasses start to dry out. Part of the path is very wide and well-mown, with the rest through the grasses and narrow/occasionally muddy. It's not a large nature area in itself, but is worth the time because it connects to others.
diesel james: Great trails in this nature area!
Esteban Chavez: Tiny trucks for life!
Aaron Pressel: Really nice. One of the best parks in the area.
Megan Robbins: It’s time to clean up the Superfund site near this previously gorgeous park. Citizens, make Kuebler Corp. clean up the pollution in the air and in the water near this “nature reserve.”
Mike Clar: Nice place to just relax
Donald Hunsche: Nice park but main trail has an area that is always muddy in the spring, summer and fall, and dangerously icy in winter. Wish the city would spread some rocks so the water would drain through and be passable underfoot.
David Lamb: If you are a runner in Ann Arbor, check this space out. It is possible to string together a 5-7 mile route starting at Argo, looping up to the Barton Nature Area, then Bird Hill/Kuebler and ending through Bandemer. This became my absolute favorite run in town. In the summer, it's nice because of the birds, trees and hills. In the winter, it's absolute peace and quite when you are running the stretch through Bird Hill.
Stephen Taylor: Less frequently used walking area that is great for walking dogs and, if they are well trained, letting them run up and down steep hills.
MacK D: Great trails
Mike Black: It's a semi challenging trail

Nick H: Cool place
Ah'shay rembert: I like it, But can you clean it up? Their Always Duck poo, Yuck things in the water. I'm not going back, till' You Clean it up.
Rick Carter: A few trails that can be hard to find from outside, but it's a nice place to go be alone for a bit.

Rob Franzo: Good trails and board walks...
Vera Gjelaj: BEAUTIFUL place.. Love it
Peter Kuffa: Peaceful

Carol Kaatz: Quiet. Great place to take a nap on a rainy day while I waited for a patient at the VA Hospital.Dog-friendliness: Saw a couple folks walking their dogs while I was there.
Joe lovett: Playground: No play equipment, but Gallup park is just a short walk away.Restrooms: There's a building with bathrooms at the Fuller st entrance.
Alexis Reyes: Great set of trails right next to the huron River. You get a bit of traffic noise but the excellent views of the river and the surrounding woods and fields are worth it.
Eric Essenburg: Nice trails and boardwalks.
Meaghan Aiello: A beautiful natural area along side the Huron River near downtown Ann Arbor. This park is very undeveloped and has awesome plants and foliage. On a hot day it’s a good place because there’s lots of shade from the trees overhead. They do have facilities here but they seem to be locked when we were here. But this place is close to lots of other stuff, so no worries
Lois Sanders: I liked fishing. I caught 2 large mouth bass.
Hailey Willoughby: I stopped here for a solo walk on a whim after I had a hard time finding where to park for the Ann Arbor Arboretum. I’m so so so happy I came across this gem! I love all of the views you get of the water, the boardwalk is so great, and the whole walk just has so many different vibes and there are different ways to get through it. I can’t wait to go back with my fiancé!
Kayla Petraska: Lots of different short trails that lead to the river and Gallup Park. Trails are pretty quick unless you continue on in Gallup. Very pretty. Not my favorite but no complaints.
Lisa Lindenfelser: The trails are rustic but I enjoyed it!
Rafael Figueroa: If you like nature (and by consequence, areas) you will love Furstenburg!
김민주김민주: 트레킹하기좋은곳 ㅡ잘 다듬어진 나무데크에 주변 강과수풀이. 어울어져 트레킹에 최적의 장소거다보면 갤럽공원으로 연결되네요ㅡ
David Braley: Beautiful landscape. The hiking trails are flat and well kept. Great for novices or the elderly. Plenty of waterfowl and various species of birds to watch. The river supports a nearby kayaking/tubing rental business.
Jessa Kuxmith: Pretty basic amenities. We like to tube down the river and get out here.Playground: Yes Public restrooms: Yes Picnic tables: Yes …More
Laron L Bean: Peaceful and serene saw a wonderful 👪 family of ducks all in a row and great lake scene
Vazir Fatehi: 38 acres of biodiversity preserve along the Huron River. It's attached to Gallup Park and one can use on of many trails to explore various habitats like the prairie or the bog wetlands. There benches to sit and enjoy and paths that loop around so you don't get lost.
Emily Kliemann: Beautiful quiet and peaceful
Brad Oltersdorf: Favorite nature area around
Grace Rice: Beautiful trail
SEUNG HEE PARK: 한가로워요

Justinian Herzog: Remote (for the area) stretch of marshy riverbank next to a largish stretch of river without much development. Azmi Kandalaft: Much forest, very wow
Timothy Keebler: Nice nature area with interesting ecology. This is accessed via the Gallup Park Pathway and then a trail off of that along the Fleming Creek. You don't actually enter Forest Nature Area until you go under the railroad bridge (which is old stone arch construction, pretty cool). The entire park is elevated boardwalk which is in the process of being repaired. The most noteworthy feature is natural seeps, which have very thick layers of peat. Good signage. Plan your visit based on the wind direction, since it is near a sewage plant and the smell is quite strong.

Nabeel Kasim: Love coming to this park for a nice stroll, run, or long hike. There are many interconnected trails and bridges that give you an awesome variety of different types of terrains and environments to enjoy. Would recommend. Keep in mind there are several ways to access this park. The main parking lot being off of Huron River Dr
Stephen Smith: Beautiful hills and valleys much bigger than you might think.
ryan sample: Love this park
Noah Walker: This place is one of my stomping grounds that has never changed nor should it change. Absolutely recommended if you're looking to hike on a clear day.
Daniel Chen (思賢Daniel): Nice place for a walk in Ann Arbor.
Mitch S: Love the unimproved trails. I saw an owl flying through the trees.
Micha Adams: Lively trails
Alexis Reyes: Great hills of course. Lots of open trails with varying difficulty. Another great hiking trail in Ann Arbor.
hailey brady: Very nice trails not much crowded. Love being here over and over again
Shannon S: Not bad for an urban trail!
Paul Costanzo: Nice hills to walk, can get lost easy as trails intersect often.
Pei Li: I have been there!
DNNY O: Cool hilly wooded trails that go for a few miles round trip. Parking is slim and unfortunately there’s a lot of noise from the highway nearby but it’s a good place to go for a walk.
Brittany Connors: Once you get to the magic spot, there aren't words. 3
Tonya Goven: Many trail options. Makes you feel like you are not near the city and provides a quick, medium, or long hiking option depending on your time frame. Dog friendly as long as they're on a leash. I personally prefer to go on weekdays while other people are working so I feel more secluded. Many birds for birders to enjoy!
Yerlin A. Mencia: Great trail honestly! Went with a friend about an hour before sundown and we got lost :( but it was really fun. Nice guy helped us out.
Lady J: Nice place for a shaded hike. Only downside - it's a bit close to the highway in spots, distracts a bit from the idea of a "nature walk".
C D: Great trails during the hot days
Xperia Z1: Beautiful place. Nice hiking trails
Elisa Warner: Beautiful place to get away from the city/campus area and experience nature.
Amanda “Mandy” Warfel: Super nice trails!

William Mallick: This little forest reserve is a great neighborhood resource. Its not the biggest "woods" in Ann Arbor, but it provides a great place to take a walk. The terrain is varied, there are no paved paths, and park is completely natural. This is literally a nice plot of natural woods to walk around in, not a designed or curated city park. When you walk around you can experience actual solitude and feel like you are much further away from cars, people and houses than you actually are. It's peaceful and relaxing. For those who care, walking around the outer loop once is about 3000 steps.
Michael Cain: Peaceful and relaxing
Natalie Davidson: I love the spring flowers and trees in Eberwhite woods.
Kimmy M: A wonderful spot!! I love running through here or going on a walk with my dog. The paths are very nice and well kept. There are three main paths that all connect in each end and make a large loop. There are lots of entrances so you can access it from every side. It looks especially beautiful with the fall colors!
Noora Kazanji: Pictures are a thousand and one words
Hind Sulaiman: Wonderful place to visit
Yin-Hsin LU: Beautiful trails
Kay Thompson: Nice residential woods.
Louise Langdon: Quiet, secluded sanctuary close to downtown Ann Arbor. Shady and cool in summer and colorful in fall - perfect for any time of day.
Anthony Menyhart: Forested urban park. Soft and wide trails. Tall trees
Iveta Brigis: Nice trails for shirt walks and climbing on logs
David Martz: Nice wide trails for running or walking, and lots of nature!
