Elizabeth Morin: Taking your child to the dentist can be scary not only for your child, but also for the parents. The number one thing to do is find a dentist you can trust. My children have been going to Ann Arbor Pediatric Dentistry since my oldest was 3 years old. She is 13 now:) we have three daughters, 13, 10 and 4. When my oldest was three she had to have some work done on a cavity. Other dentists we had seen wanted to put her to sleep and we weren’t comfortable with that. We calls AAPD and Dr Ray was confident he could fix her tooth without putting her to sleep. He allowed me to sit with her and he got the job done. It wasn’t without some tears from my young daughter at the time but he talked to her through it and got the job done. It was a no brainer for us from there. We had to drive the 50 minutes to AAPD every time. My youngest who is now four recently had to get some work done - same thing happened again. Dr Ray stepped up and said he could do it. And he did! She didn’t like it - haha but we got it done. I think the most important thing is that parents have a find a dentist they can trust and then do just that— TRUST THEM! Yes, you are going to see your child cry and get upset - but rest easy - no one likes the dentist and you taking them to care for their teeth and being the adult/parent is our job. AADP makes it easy for me to be a mom because they are so good to my children - they are experts in talking to children and make everyone feel comfortable. I 100% recommend AAPD - my girls also LOVE Dr Amy. She is wonderful!

We finally got X-rays for the first time (he fought too hard with the last dentist) , and when it was over my son was totally fine. I felt very comforted, I could tell Dr. Ray knew what he was doing and told me exactly how to help. I feel better knowing I found a dentist that will work with my son instead of working at him.

When the dentist came in, my son did not want to do the exam and started to cry. It was awkward for a minute of trying to get him to cooperate. They said if we are not comfortable with that for now we can wait. His teeth are very white and clean so I decided to hold off on the full exam for now. They were all very kind and respectful and helped me feel comfortable when they saw I didn’t want to force the exam and make him cry.Also our three year old had her teeth cleaned and examined and did awesome! I think it was a lot due to the patience and kindness of the hygienist.

Riley Berens: Our first visit my son (3) was in pain from the x-ray material being too big in his mouth when the tech was taking his x-ray, she got another tech and forced my son's mouth closed and did listen when I told them to stop. I don't know why I went back, this time my son got hurt ( so he was crying and upset)when the dentist asked my husband to "hold him down" so she could finish flossing. How is a child to have a healthy dentist relationship with treatment like this.

Dr. Barber and her assistant (so sorry, I cannot remember her name) were phenomenal with him. Typically there is tears from start to finish, today, only a few after an extraction. It was a win for us and he’s feeling really proud of him self (and looking forward to his next appointment).

James Yarosz: Will never do business with these people again. They can't schedule cleanings out in 6-month intervals so you are forced to call when it's 3 months out. They push way too hard for giving kids nitrous oxide (which is harmful). The last straw for me was their unwillingness to be flexible when the freeway was shut down for several days because of a bridge incident. I left work early and tried to get there at fast as I could giving my kid's bus schedule. I even called BEFORE my appointment time to warn them I would be 15 minutes late. They said I would have to reschedule. This is WHILE I was stuck in horrible traffic more than halfway there. Thanks... Jerks. If you're not willing to be flexible, than neither am I. I'll go somewhere else.

A recent visit to the Pediatric location with my daughter was no different. Everyone who works there is incredibly kind and easy to work with. The office is exceptionally clean and has some little added touches (chalk wall, coffee bar, bottled water, etc.) to make the experience that much better for kids and their parents. The hygienists and dentists communicate clearly, with me and my daughter, and they provide excellent care. Like me, my daughter will most likely be a lifelong Smiles patient.

Alaina Recore: I can not say enough good things about this office, the staff and Dr. Heather. We actually were at an oral surgeon who referred us to her in an emergency situation. Dr. Heather got us in that day to give my 6 year old a full exam. Not only did she fit him in (the office was super busy) but she spent at least an hour with us, explaining everything, and taking the time to make sure my son and I were comfortable with the exam and his future dental plan. He has always been scared of going to the dentist (so much so that he hadn't ever had thorough exam) and Dr. Heather and the team was SO good with him. I couldn't believe that not only did he get an exam but there were barely any tears. Dr. Heather not only let me stay in the room with him, but let me be be close enough to hold my sons hand, I swear I was practically on top of her and I know I was completely in the way and she didn't even mention it and was fine with whatever we needed to do to keep my son comfortable. I am honestly so thankful for this office. We have been there a few times since our initial appointment and have continued to have good experiences.My son's review is that he would like a few more tokens throughout his appointment to get prizes because clearly that is his favorite part. :)I would recommend Dr. Heather to anyone who needs a good pediatric dentist.

Our visits at Ann Arbor Pediatric Dentistry have been the exact opposite experiences. Our first visit the staff worked to make my children feel comfortable and did not push them past their limitations, they were patient and extremely kind above what I could’ve ever expected. This set us up for success at our next cleaning because my son was so comfortable and felt more in control and so much safer than he would have otherwise. The visit went quickly and smoothly with absolutely no tears. Best dentist experience a parent could ask for!

Dr. Kristin did a complete evaluation and explain the procedure very thoroughly, and answered our questions with great care and understanding. The procedure was done successfully! Gift Chowchuvech: I have a receipt and a bank statement showing that I had paid an outstanding amount. And then it showed up on another bill which I paid again. It has been 10 days since I have heard from them regarding this matter. It's not difficult, the problem is on the practice side but I have yet to receive a response indicating their apologies and that my request for a refund and another itemized bill was forthcoming. I think the work they do there is good, but I would rather go to another practice than deal with this level of incompetence on their administrative side.

I then went in for an over-due cleaning - the dentist Dr. Garcia was very nice, and much less dramatic about needed procedures than my last one, saying my teeth looked fine. The hygienist, Han, who did the cleaning was also very friendly, very thorough, and did it much less painfully than my old dentist. AND she made sure to get me quote for my next procedure, without my even asking!! THAT'S really something. I'm definitely sticking with them. Thanks for the great treatment!
