Jiawei Ribaudo: If you are looking for a great piano teacher, Elena is the right one. We are very impressed with her professionalism, passion in teaching and inspiring the students to learn and be their best. My daughter always loves going to lessons.
Lei Ying: My son has been with Elena for a couple of years. She is very patient and experienced teacher.
Oscar Cortes: Truly an excellent teacher! Even remotely, she was able to listen and understand where I could improve my playing and always suggested fun or unique pieces that really improved my skills. She's really the best!
Scott-or-Colleen Baalrud: Elena is an extremely gifted piano teacher. Her skill and passion for music is evident from the very first lesson. She focuses on laying a solid musical foundation and asks her students to strive for the best of their ability.
Kirena Andriushchenko: I was so lucky to find Elena after searching for many piano teachers. As a student of the U of M music department, I needed to work on my technique and musicality outside of university classes. Elena was extremely patient with me, always honest and always positive and encouraging. She was an absolute gift during the quarantine and virtual classes, coming up with creative solutions to keep up the spirits of her students. I recommend her with my heart and soul!
東島祐子: Elena is professional teacher. She can teach 2way(Do,Re,Mi and ABC).Now She is teaching online lesson from March 2020.I'm not listening speaking English well but Elena always very helpful.I really recommend Elena piano lesson. She is really wonderful.
Viewtopia Pictures: Elena started teaching my daughter more than 10 years ago and really sparked her love for classical music and playing piano. With younger students she is patient and creative in her approach to teaching classical music. And with older students she teaches complex pieces in an in depth manner. Because of the foundation gained with lessons from Elena, my daughter auditioned for and was accepted into Alabama School of Fine Arts, a top-notch arts school in Birmingham, Alabama. Though we live in different cities now, we always look forward to visiting and having an occasional lesson with Elena.
Eve Mangin: Elena is a very professional and passionate music teacher. My daughter started to take voice lessons with her a year ago when she was 4 years old and now she is ready to start piano lessons as well!
Philip Robinson: Elena is a caring, energetic, professional, and highly talented piano teacher. She has given me many excellent musical insights and is passionately dedicated to her work! You can easily see her superb results in the videos of her students' performances.
P. S.: My daughter Michelle began to take piano lessons with Elena since last September. Back then, my daughter still has difficulty in English listening and speaking. But Elena is such a patient and experienced teacher that she can always think of effective way to convey the meaning and make it comprehensible to my daughter. My daughter used to play piano very mechanically, but after couple of months, she began to play musically. Elena's professionalism, dedication and passion changed my daughter's understanding of music and piano playing, and help her develop a genuine love for music and playing piano. As a parent, I'm so grateful that we could learn piano and music with such an extraordinary teacher! I would not hesitate for a second to recommend Elena to anyone who what their kids to learn piano and music!!
Geoff Maturen: Both I and my daughter have taken piano lessons with Elena for many years and she is an extraordinary piano teacher, certainly the best I've encountered. She understands piano technique deeply (and can teach it to beginning and advanced students) but never pursues it for its own sake. Rather, she is always concerned with the integrity of the music and students' ability to be musical and creative in their interpretations. She is passionately dedicated to her students' success as well as sensitive to their needs, capable of being encouraging and supportive as well as strict when it is required. She also has a wide knowledge of the piano repertoire, both as regards well known works and more obscure pieces that are a joy to discover and hear. Most of all, she teaches students to play musically, with a deep understanding of music's poetry and passion.
olga malysheva: Elena is a gifted teacher who has a patience to work with kids of all ages, even small. My daughter always loved her choice of music. This teacher gave her excellent piano skills for life.Highly recommend!
Veronika Poliakova: An effective teacher who can improve your skill in piano and have you playing amazing pieces by a large variety of composers.

Emilie Lin Piano Studio: what do users think?
GU JIANG: My 12-year-old son has been taking piano lessons from Ms. Emilie since July 2019. Before Ms. Emilie, my son had three piano teachers. We knew immediately that Ms. Emilie is the BEST on the first day we met. Ms. Emilie is not just a skilled pianist, but also an excellent teacher! What sets apart Ms. Emilie from other professionals is her teaching style. She has each lesson tailored to suit for my son. She teaches in such a detailed and thorough way while organizing the lessons perfectly. With Ms. Emilie, you will truly understand what Practice Makes Perfect means. Her assignment for my son is engaged and highly efficient, which makes my son’s piano practice so meaningful. My son now even sets a timer for his practice on his own.Ms. Emilie strives to make her students to enjoy the music. She will ask my son to pick his favorite music pieces to learn. She will also help my son find a connection to each piece and makes his play expressive and becomes his own style. Ms. Emilie also encourages my son to experience different music genres, to be creative, to improvise and to compose.Ms. Emilie is also a psychology professional. She knows each student very well. She will help each student reach their highest potential, with enthusiasm and enough challenge, while not sacrificing the joy of the music. This is our fourth year with Ms. Emilie and my son has learned so much and made tremendous improvement. Thank you, Ms. Emilie!
Qianyu Chen: Mrs. Lin is the perfect piano teacher for an adult student. She is very patient, encouraging and empathetic. I am an adult student who has a busy full time job. She understands the difficulties an adult student faces as a beginner and protects my interest in playing the piano well. She plans all my lessons carefully and wisely to make sure I learn new things every week. She gives multiple fun choices to practice the rhythm and theories which turn the boring parts into fascinating. She gives fabulous lessons and develops my ability to appreciate classical music. I recommend her to all adult students who have a dream of playing the piano but don’t know how to start yet.
Nisreen Bahrainwala: I have been a student of Ms. Lin since September 2020. I decided to start playing the piano again during the summer of 2020, and decided to take lessons in hopes of learning some basic technique/theory. Little did I know after two lessons I would fall in love with piano and music completely.Ms. Lin has made me a better musician by not only teaching me how to play piano but by showing me how to better interpret music. She has an amazing attention to detail, and it shines through in both her playing and her teaching. She is an incredibly kind person who truly cares about her students, and she makes sure to adapt each lesson to her student's needs. Additionally, for adult students, she offers flexibility when it comes to work or exam schedules, which makes it easy to keep up with piano even when life gets in the way. Each lesson is a fun new adventure, and I am so excited to keep learning!
Margaret Medvich: Even though I was only able to learn from Emilie for a short time you taught me some very great lessons that I still remember and put into practice! She did a great deal to help me overcome my extreme performance anxiety. I'm still very grateful for the lessons I was able to have with her! I finally stopped shaking when I play about a year after we worked together. I have been playing for weddings and other functions for the last 8 years and now my 3 year old is beginning to learn. Thank you Emilie!
M C: My 7-year-old has been taking piano lessons from Emilie Lin for about two years. She has made a great progress in a short time. She loves her teacher because Emilie is very encouraging, patient, cheerful and extremely well-organized. She pays attention to details without overwhelming her students. She tailors lessons according to every student’s needs. Her bright personality empowers and motivates kids to enjoy music and to do their best. She clearly understands that teaching piano is not all about sharing her knowledge, but she forms relationships which motivates the students to love music for life.My daughter now enjoys playing beautiful classical pieces, sonatinas and hymns. She also likes to play by ear and compose. My daughter considers her an excellent, awesome teacher.I believe Emilie Lin is one of the best piano teachers you or your children could ever have!
yj cho: Mrs. Emilie was great as my two childrens' piano teacher. My kids loved to learn piano and I liked her teaching style.I think the most important thing for kids to learn the musical instrument is to practice everyday, and it was hard for me to make my kids do it everyday before I met Emilie. She gave my kids very detailed and organized homework which was designed perfectly for each child's progress. They understood and knew how to practice at home without too much pressure or being too bored. We went to Korea for 6 months in 2017 and when we came back, my son struggled to settle down. She made him feel comfortable and it was very helpful for him to return to his normal life. She loves and encourages kids very sincerely and I always appreciated her hard working.I strongly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a piano teacher. She is a wonderful and great teacher!
Dave Kim: Ever since I was 5 or 6 I came to Emilie Lin to continue lessons after transfering from another teacher. After the first lesson I knew that there was something different and that she was a teacher who understood you as a student and a child who has other things to do. Ever since I advanced in piano through theory, technique, pieces, and using the computer at the end of every lesson to improve my skills digitally. Things that set Emilie Lin apart from other teachers is that she can understand you as a person and not just a student obligated to practice five days EVERY week. I appreciated this because in these eight years, I had many weeks when I just couldn't focus or I didn't have time to practice. I appreciate everything!
J R: I took piano lessons for about 6 years when I was a child. As a university student I wanted to begin lessons again and searched for a teacher who would be able to figure out my current level and help me progress from there. I couldn’t be happier that I found Emilie Lin Piano Studio.First of all, it is different teaching a complete beginner vs someone who had childhood experience but has lost a lot of progress and memory. Emilie did an excellent job consistently gauging my progress and jumping ahead when appropriate.I never felt that things were moving too slowly or too quickly. I felt challenged, yet never overwhelmed and stressed which is the ideal state to be in while learning anything I believe. I remember wanting to learn one particular piece that was more challenging than the level I was currently at. Emilie said that if I was motivated to learn the piece that it was doable. She helped break it down into manageable sections and assigned just the right amount each week. I can happily say I now have this piece in my repertoire! The point is, I feel that she is very experienced and intuitive with knowing how much individual students can handle which is a gift considering that each person has their own learning style and pace.I took lessons with Emilie for about 4 months and I never anticipated that I would make anywhere near the progress that I did. I owe so much of that to her teaching style, extensive knowledge, and the attention to detail given to each piece that can so easily be glossed over when teaching beginner students “simple” music. She honestly made every piece interesting and brought out depth and layers in the smallest piece. Although a good amount of the content was familiar to me from my previous instruction, I was shown a depth to aspects of music that I never considered before.I moved away to begin university in another country which meant I unfortunately could not take lessons with her any longer. I will say, though, that there is now very high bar of comparison for my next teacher to live up to!I will always be thankful to Emilie for the exciting, positive, encouraging, challenging, and fun reintroduction to my favourite instrument. :)
Ding Hao: I was a U of M graduate student major in Mechanical Engineering. I had some lessons of electric piano when I was little and always had interests in piano. I took lessons with Emilie for 8 months and really enjoyed it. She was patient and adjusted to my own pace of learning. She would point out the little yet important things like finger strength that would improve the overall melody a lot. I do recommend taking lessons with her.
Mike & Melody Huang: My son was taught by Emilie for about a year, and we had a wonderful experience! Emilie is an extremely kind and thoughtful teacher; she was always looking for the best interests of my son. I was very impressed by how organized Emilie's lessons were; once we set a goal for my son to take Level 10 of the MMTA piano test, Emilie did her best to have my son prepared for the examination, working on both musical repertoire and theory. In addition, Emilie rewarded her students after each lesson to motivate them to practice and improve. When she felt that my son needed more challenging training, she was so kind and selfless to refer my son to a professor. I would highly recommend Emilie; she is certainly an instructor who puts the student first.
Jaiganesh Velan: Ms. Emilie ReviewThe first thing that pops out in my mind when I think Emilie is that she is a rare gem among the other wonderful piano teachers. Trust me people, I've been to many other piano recitals to come to this conclusion ! Below are my few points to ponder.1). She is a skilled pianist who is patient and enthusiastic. She incorporates classical and modern music to each kid's absorbing level. That's the part I really like, not going by the level books but going by their capacity and interest to learn.2). She is a published composer and encourages kids to compose, always. My girl just told me that's one of the main reasons she loves Emilie. " Ms. Emilie always encourages me to compose different genre and take risks when it comes to piano music. She says, that's how I explore music. She makes sure I perform my composition at each recital and always motivates me to go further." This is from my daughter :)3) She shows profound knowledge of kids' abilities and nudges them a bit to give more and to try their best. Her discipline and perfectionism is off the chart! Sadly, you don't see many of these qualities now a days among music teachers. I'm glad I found one with character.4). She is a brilliant professional who actually has a set of rules for the families to follow which I don't see in many other music classes. Most of them, you have to pay every week and they are very inconsistent. No commitment from either side. That's not Emilie's style! Her rules/procedures really help us and our kids to maintain discipline, teach our kids to be determined, to be consistent. That's life skills people :)5). Finally, I suggest to come and meet her. She encourages parents and kids to try out before they commit. This is our fourth year going strong with her and my daughter mastered 6 years worth of knowledge and that should say something. She is genuine, honest and trustworthy. What more could you ask for a perfect teacher. Oh wait- She is also a brilliant pianist with great attitude and her name is Ms. Emilie Lin!
Vince Luschas: At age 69, I believe I am among the oldest of Emilie Lin's students. Although I’d studied voice and taught myself a bit of piano in my youth, I hadn’t ever seriously studied piano. So after a hiatus of fifty years, being semi-retired with oceans of free time and looking for something rewarding and challenging to do, I began taking lessons from Emilie just one year ago. Her very effective teaching methods have enabled me to gain skill and progress rapidly. She clearly explains and demonstrates technique and relevant music theory, provides genuine positive reinforcement and she patiently and effectively corrects mistakes. Emilie individualizes instruction, tailoring her approach to her students’ interests and needs. Working on music I enjoy makes accomplishment personally very rewarding and has motivated me to practice and improve much more. Her attitude is always genuinely friendly and supportive. I always look forward to my next lesson. Emilie Lin is definitely among the very best teachers I’ve ever had.
Andrea Waltje: As a parent, I really like and support the teaching model Emilie has been using for our daughter over the past four years. Observing Emilie's interaction with our daughter, it appears that she will always take a very individual approach with each of her student's based on the parent's preferences and, perhaps more importantly, the student’s needs. For example, a steep learning curve is not important to us (as long as there is progress), but we do like to hear the music in the house and we appreciate that our daughter enjoys her music and her lessons. Other parents may have higher expectations and I firmly believe that Emilie is able to accommodate this. Watching her interact with her students during the annual concerts reveals that she has very good rapport with and is supportive of all of them.Playing the piano is tremendously important to our daughter. We’re glad we’ve found the perfect teacher for her in Emilie Lin.
Katie Adams: I have been taking piano lessons from Emilie Lin for about two years, and her teaching has allowed me to make considerable and continuous progress during that time. I consider myself lucky to have found a piano teacher like Emilie. She corrects without being condescending, and always manages to explain techniques in a way that connects with me. She brings contagious enthusiasm to each lesson, and her knowledge and experience are obvious from even a short interaction. As a college student, I appreciate Emilie’s commitment to her students’ personal goals. Instead of making practicing a task or a chore, Emilie’s flexibility during busy exam periods ensures that I stay interested and engaged with piano. Regardless of your personal reasons for learning piano, I would definitely recommend Emilie Lin as a piano teacher.
jaleh jafari: I recommend Emilie Lin as the best piano teacher in the city of Ann Arbor. She is the best piano teacher I've ever met. She truly knows how to teach her students in a way that they improve very quickly. She teaches every student in a way that is the most effective for that student depending on their age and their skills. She always encourage students in the most positive way. I drive one hour every week to get a piano lesson from her, and I think it's really worth it because I have seen a lot of improvements in my piano playing.
