TestGuru: Private Law Tutoring: what do users think?
Ari Herbert: Want to get into your dream law school? Looking to crush the MBE? Rich Klarman is without a doubt your guy. Not only is he quite possibly the smartest person you'll ever meet, he's also a wonderful teacher who effectively conveys knowledge and teaches skills. And on top of all that, he's relentlessly funny and engaging. He makes studying for the LSAT and the MBE manageable where it once seemed overwhelming. He pushes the pace so that when test day comes, you're calm, collected, and prepared. Thanks to Rich, I got into my dream school (with some scholarship money) and passed the beast that is the California Bar Exam.

Sylvan Learning of Ann Arbor: what do users think?
Lindsey Guzi: My daughter is 14 and she never complains about going to Sylvan. Patricia and Stacy have been wonderful and my daughter has learned so much since she started! Best decision I ever made.
Christian Vercler: My daughter really struggled with confidence in reading and she has made remarkable improvements with Sylvan. She now is a confident reader and her first grade teacher has even reached out to tell us how proud she is of my daughter's improvements with reading confidently out loud in front of her whole class.
kmuridi: My 2nd grader did not know how to read in the beginning of the school year. After meeting with Stacy, she set up a program in which she told me how many hours he needed and what I would expect. We signed him up with Sylvan for 10 hours a week and he made a huge improvement over the past 5 months. Not only can he read at his grade level, but I’ve seen a new confidence in him that he never had. Sylvan has helped him become independent and gave him the confidence he was lacking in school.
kevin: 3 of my children attend here and I can see the difference it has made with them.
Deborah Adams: Positive:ValueAll three of my grandsons attend here. They love going at the same time they are going into 3rd grade, 1st grade and Kindergarten. Sylvan has help them improve their reading as well as gives them some in person learning during the remote learning environment for the last year.
Carolyn Vaidya: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueWonderful staff. Very positive and encouraging. My child feels like she is able to learn again and has shown much improvement. We are so glad we choose to work with Sylvan Learning Center.
Robert Franzese: Our daughter has been with Sylvan (Ann Arbor) for around a year now for additional math work and advancement. In one year, she has gone from struggling a fair bit behind grade-level math to several grade-levels ahead! We are thrilled, and she loves the place and her tutors. And she's developing confidence and pride in her math work, as should be. Sylvan is slightly more expensive than alternatives, but for us at least: has been very well worth it. Couldn't be happier.
Tripti Marhatta: I’m Really happy that I chose this place for my daughter to get tutoring. My daughter has learned so much within few months already and she’s very confident. The people are so friendly and nice here.
John Randolph: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Jerard Rosser: Very clean inside.
Janice Marshall: Sylvan has provided our son the ability to work on his reading and math skills to keep him challenged and ready for the start of school. He loves his instructor and cannot wait to see him each week. Thank you for making this first experience with Sylvan a great one.
Our family: In kindergarten my son was below the standard level in school and so I took action and he started with sylvan learning center! He is now less than a year into just once a week and his first grade teacher wonders why he is in tutoring because he is in the highest reading level in his class. The staff is also super friendly and very informative so it’s overall a very pleasurable experience!
M.J Kim: My 14-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter have been with Sylvan for one year and a half, and have improved a lot. Their self-confidence went up greatly, and they became self-motivated as well. We had tried Kumon and Mathnasium before. But so far, Silvan of Ann Arbor has been the best--at least for us, that is—and my kids are happy with our choice. The staffs are extremely friendly and professional, and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to build up positive characters and technical skills at the same time.
Diane Kennedy: My daughter has been coming here for 18 months, and has made huge strides in her confidence, mastering numerous skills along the way. We used to have nightly arguments over math homework. Our evenings are now argument free. :)
Pink Diamond: My son really has shown tremendous improvement in his confidence since he starting at Sylvan. He really enjoys his learning time. The staff and tutors are very professional.
Maija Garcia: Sylvan is an excellent resource for students to get one on one learning support without the social pressure of a school environment. The staff are helpful, caring and communicative.
Kati Rezmierski: Our daughter's experience with Sylvan Ann Arbor has been amazing. Her math skills have improved tremendously. She is always treated with kindness and respect and is finally progressing at a subject with which she has long struggled. The staff/management is incredible - our family has difficult scheduling "issues," and they are unfailingly kind and accommodating whenever we need to change things or reschedule. I cannot more highly recommend Sylvan Ann Arbor.
Marina Sarafian: I have two sons. Both of them attended Sylvan Learning Center in Ann Arbor. My older son, who is a senior at MSU, took ACT prep course. My younger son, who is a junior in high school, just finished SAT prep course and four years before that, took lessons to improve his reading skills. Everyone was very nice, atmosphere was very relaxing, instructors highly trained. Every time I had a question, I would walk in and Patricia Childs would answer my questions and accommodate our schedule needs. I highly recommend Sylvan Learning Center.
Ruth Caston: Excellent tutoring and ACT/SAT preparation. Lots of personalized attention from both the directors and the staff, all with a very positive approach. Going to Sylvan has made a big difference to my kids' confidence and performance. Highly recommended.
Brent Beaverson: Experienced a transformation right away. Great place, friendly staff and tutors.
Sarah Beaverson: This is the best place for our daughter to get extra help with her math! The staff is always warm and helpful and so very informative. Every time we've had questions or concerns, they've gone above and beyond to help us and our child. I simply cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you Sylvan for all that you do and have done for our family!

The Princeton Review: what do users think?
Vincent Lizzio: I completed my MCAT prep with The Princeton Review and found it very helpful. I was very happy with my final score.
Moriah-Taylor Rutherford: This program changed my life for the better! My instructor was helpful and helped my score go up 6 points! Because of the Princeton review I received multiple full rides for college!
Jake Presto: Princeton is amazing!! I used Princeton for ACT prep while applying to college, and I just graduated from the University of Michigan. I’m currently applying to medical school, and I used Princeton for MCAT prep as well. The experience was fantastic. I took a competitor’s MCAT prep course when I took the test for the first time and I was thoroughly unsatisfied with the experience. Princeton, on the other hand, had specific teachers for specific topics and really helped me to improve my score. Would recommend to anybody who is taking a standardized test they offer courses for!
Drew Gardner: As the Student Government of Michigan State University (ASMSU), we have had a strong partnership with The Princeton Review for the past several years. Not only are they a great partner to work with, but they have been able to consistently provide huge cost savings to our students for both in-person and online prep classes. They have well prepared material with highly capable instructors, and I would recommend them to any student who's looking to prepare themselves for a graduate exam.
Samuel Cain: Princeton Review has some of the most rigorous training I've ever encountered to become a teacher and tutor there, and only even offer interviews to quality applicants. The vetting process I underwent to teach here was some of the most stringent I've been through, and throughout the process of learning how to teach MCAT content, I learned quite a bit about how to do better on that test... and to qualify to be a teacher you have to already have scored in the 90th percentile! The material they have for SAT, ACT, and MCAT test prep is some of the best out there, and those are just the courses I've taught. If someone is going to purchase test prep for college or graduate school, this is the place to do it.
Callista Zingas: I love working at Princeton Review because I can create my own schedule and everyone at the workplace is very positive and accommodating. The training process was well organized and I enjoy here teaching a lot!
Gillian Wright: The Princeton Review offers great resources for preparing for all sorts of college and graduate program entrance exams. As an MCAT teacher I've seen students grow in knowledge, reasoning, and strategy, and they go on to achieve great results. I love the learning environment at TPR and really enjoy working here.
Joan Hall: This class is very helpful, I am sending my 2nd child to it this summer.
Alexandra Rogers: As a student organization leader, working with Olivia at the Princeton Review has been great! Easy to communicate with and very understanding.
Cameron Pawlik: My MCAT class at TPR was a great review of all the material that was needed for the test. It also provided me with a wealth of practice for the big day. I would recommend their ultimate course to anyone else who is also studying for the MCAT.
Danielle Mullis: I attribute so much of the success I had tackling the MCAT exam to my Princeton Review course. The Princeton Review offers a wide variety of prep class from enthusiastic teachers and I enjoyed my time as a student so much, I applied to be a teacher for them! I’ve loved working for TPR so far and really enjoy being part of such a professional, supportive group of teachers and staff.
Henry: Great experience with both the SAT and MCAT classes! Instructors are knowledgeable and professional, and the office staff are welcoming and very responsive to customers!
Madeline McCabe: Great MCAT class experience! Enjoyed my teachers and appreciated having both an in-class experience and a lot of online resources.
Willie Sullivan: Do not use Princeton Review for GMAT! The instructor is really unprofessional, their materials are nothing like the actual test. Save your money or do Kaplan, Veritas, Target Test Prep or anything else!
Music Melody: Horrible customer service. Course work old and not up to date with new SAT. You will be wasting your money. They don't give a s.... once you pay them.
Morgan Mitchell: Waste of time and effort, the proctor for the practice act was of little help and provided shallow advice- after we took the section on it. The Princeton Review also cancelled my scores because of low turnout. Not worth any effort.
Arnold Miguel F Babila: Princeton Review cancelled my kid's SAT review twice in a row. Reason: It didn't have enough enrollees. Princeton Review doesn't care how hard you've planned your and your kids' time. It should not be in business in the first place, if it doesn't want to take risks. Parents, don't even bother enrolling your kids at Princeton Review.

Mathnasium: what do users think?
Kelly Sexton: This is a wonderful resource. I've sent two of my kids there and have seen how Mathnasium can help them build confidence and ability with math.
Megan Brown: Highly recommend! Our middle school student's math skills, grades & confidence are vastly improved after spending the past year working with the tutors here. Very thankful for the supportive & encouraging environment.
Deep Singh: Good people Good Service
Mei Zhang: Excellent service — My son's math ability has grown substantially since he began studying at Mathnasium. The owners are very kind and smart, and teachers do very well by explaining concepts thoroughly.
Bill Emkow: I turned to Mathnasium when my son struggled with 7th and 8th grade math before, but especially during COVID-19. The situation felt dire and I figured in a worst-case scenario Mathansium would be extra work to get him up to speed. After one year (to the week!) of starting Mathnasium in Ann Arbor, he has a 92% grade after his first trimester of high school math. The turnaround was shockingly successful. While my son didn't choose to do math in his free time (including the summer to prevent brain drain), he understood why he was doing it and it really was math without tears. He had two 1-hour lessons per week, online only. Mathnasium was way, way, way more prepared to handle online learning than the public schools. It was easy and seamless. The communication with Grace and Vera is truly incredible, as well. I couldn't be more pleased. We will definitely go back if my son needs assistance ever again and I would highly recommend Mathnasium.
Miranda Keskes: Positive:Quality
Anthony Nitsos: Positive:Professionalism,Value
Lorray Brown: I like the personalized attention. You work with the students where they are in their math classes.
Bing Ye: Our kid is in an accelerated math class at school, which challenges them more than regular classes. The Mathnasium in Ann Arbor does a fantastic job helping students in such cases! Rachel is a superb teacher, who clearly has a talent in teaching math to teenagers. Thank you, Mathnasium for the outstanding management and for recruiting top-notch teachers to help students.
Caden Che: Great place, really teaches the children a lot about math. This is where your child should be if they want to improve at math the fun way.
Rebecca Cunningham: We love Mathnasium. Our teens get help individually with high school math and our 6 th grader get group support to help her math comfort. The staff is gracious flexible and knowledgeable. Creates a safe happy place to learn math
Sharon Simonton: My daughter had an excellent experience at Mathnasium. She attended tutoring sessions there for 3 years (grades 6-8). Started at Mathnasium when she was very behind, getting poor test scores, and was increasingly convinced that she "wasn't good at math." Mathnasium was able to identify and address missing/weak skills in her math foundation. She's been thriving and confidently excelling in high school math ever since and now considers it to be one of her favorite subjects. She really liked the tutors there -- they gave her invaluable tools for how to learn math.
Saeid Mirafzali: Very engaged staff that effectively engage the student. Excellent resource for the community.
Margaret Petersen: Our daughter (now 10) has been attending Mathnasium for a year, 2x/week, and it's been great for her. She enjoys it - I rarely get any pushback to attending - and she has made great progress in math. She feels much more confident about her math skills, her understanding and comprehension of math has greatly improved, and she enjoys the subject much more in school. We plan to continue with Mathnasium into the future.
Luzette Habib: Math went from being my child's worst subject to her best subject. The mathnasium method works! But you do have to be in the program for several months, at least six months, to see results, as the owners will tell you. They are able to effectively teach concepts that somehow do not come across well in a regular classroom. Special kudos go out to Rachel, one of the more experienced tutors. My child started school this year already knowing many if not most of the math concepts at her grade level. Thanks to all the tutors and staff at Mathnasium Ann Arbor!
Susie Guest: My kids have loved their first experiences with Mathnasium this summer. The instructors have been engaging, they are excited to go every time and ask when they can go back again. Grace was very helpful and accommodating to our schedule needs as well. Thank you for a great experience!
Kathy Gaines: My daughter made great progress in a short time at the Mathnasium on Packard in Ann Arbor. She does well in math, and we wanted to keep her momentum going over the summer. She accomplished a lot of skills at and above her age level in only 12 weeks. The tutors were patient, and there is always time for a game at the end (educational games, but still fun!). They use incentives to help the kids stay motivated to complete worksheets. We would recommend Mathnasium to anyone needing extra help in math, or those who would like enrichment to get ahead.
Wendy Sue: My daughter has been going here since Last October and we really like the environment; Better yet, she really enjoys it and has asked on several occasions to stay longer than the typical hour which we set aside. Vera is awesome and so is the staff. The report with their students is very good and the interaction fantastic.
miriam connolly: As a parent, I wish I'd seen an honest review before signing up for this program. 1st, the owners are kind and friendly. The program seemed great as it touted teaching Math in a fun and interesting way to children who struggle in the subject. Turns out $600.00 later, our 6th grader spent the entire summer doing ditto worksheets and receiving very little actual tutoring. She brought it to our attention that she was learning nothing new. Despite an assessment at the onset of the program, she had been allowed to select from a binder any Math she wanted to do each week. She of course continued to select Math she knew. What kid who did not like Math wouldn't? When I brought it to the owner's attention, they said, "why didn't you tell us?" I'm not the tutor and had trusted in their process. The solution was to shift to more copy worksheets without the promised, concrete, "fun", instruction. About 4 students sit at a table surrounding 1 tutor who is sometimes disinterested as the children do their ditto sheets. There was very little tutoring and all of the children were well behaved while doing their dittos. At the end of the program, and after several weeks of driving across town and lots of cash, our daughter had not learned anything new at all and did not enjoy Math any more than before. She did not mind going and liked the owners and the young instructors. She, like us, had wanted to engage in the program to improve her Math skills. The bottom line is parents would better benefit from plopping your child down at home with ditto sheets. Other parents in the program echoed my concerns when I spoke with them. Some had been going for a year paying high monthly fees with little to no change. The reviews I'd read were all positive as was our initial assessment and meeting with the owners. Although I wrote a review last summer in Yelp and on another site, both were deleted, which makes me suspect of this program in terms of overall honesty with the public.
