Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Ann Arbor: what do users think?
Christopher: This was a great place for our first dance lesson for our wedding. My fiancee and I both had a ton of fun. We will definitely be going back for more lessons
The Mannster: Great place to try different styles of dance in a comfortable group setting. Also, very kind and helpful dance instructors, who are indubitably great at dancing. I won't lie, private lessons are expensive (and they are likely pressured to make sales), but if you can afford it, they will really go out of their way to give you a fun and unique dancing experience. I can't speak to other AM studios in the area or their instructors.
Woodrow Williams: Had the opportunity to do a private lesson. Micah was great! From someone with absolutely no dance experience, she made it comfortable and I left with some foundational knowledge. Hope to be back soon.
Wayne Bartrum: My fiance and I took free lessons there. Our instructor was great and patient. Both my fiance and I are very introverted and we were made to feel comfortable the whole time. We had a wonderful time. If our schedule was permitting we would have signed up for lessons.
Margarita Barvinok: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI love this studio. Everybody is welcome regardless of their dancing experience. The staff is friendly and professional. New skills, new experiences, new people — there’s always something to look forward to after the day’s work. The group lessons and parties are a constant source of fun.
Dakota Crisp: I initially decided to take lessons on a whim. Dancing was something I was always interested in, and, after the isolation of the pandemic, I figured it was finally time to give it a shot. It is safe to say I underestimated the impact it would have on my life.To be honest, I was one of those people that worried about what others thought of me. I had trouble being comfortable in my own skin, and I didn't like drawing attention to myself. You can imagine my utter delight upon discovering dancing helps address all that.Simply put, dancing is self-expression. So it follows that learning to dance is learning to be yourself. As you gain experience and confidence in your dancing, you'll begin to notice those insecurities melt away. The real heroes here are the wonderful teachers. They go above and beyond to create a safe learning environment. It is their unconditional positive regard that will nurture and support you during your first few fragile moments on the dance floor, floundering about like a newborn deer. And it is their attention to detail and caring nature that helps guide you to be the best dancer (and best you) you can be.If any of what I've mentioned resonates with you, I hope you'll give dancing a shot. And if you're looking for a sign to change your life: this is it.
Trent Murry: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueFrom the moment you walk in you are treated with kindness and lovely teachers. This place is amazing .
Greg Jagst: Arthur Murray Dance Studio – Ann ArborWhen I decided to take dance lessons at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Ann Arbor almost four years ago, I expected straight forward instructions in my various chosen dances—which I have received. What has surprised me is how much this new activity has enhanced other areas of my life: it is a fun new hobby that has capped a couple work days a week with a fun, light cardio program that has lightened my mood and even enhanced interpersonal skills. I could shower Greta, Amanda, Ryan and Daniel with an embarrassing number of superlatives in regards their professionalism and interest in helping me achieve my dancing goals, but I will let suffice to say they represent their studio very well.Studio manager Greta is running a well-oiled dancing enterprise. I truly believe the financial cost of the dance instruction will pay me personal dividends for many years to come. If anyone is ‘on the fence’ about trying lessons, I recommend carefully climbing down and reaching out to this Dance Studio for a complimentary lesson; dance lessons are not likely to be something you will regret in life and you are in good hands with this Studio.
Mercedes Hernàndez: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Bridget Isakson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueEven in the middle of a pandemic, taking lessons at Arthur Murray has been an absolute delight!! Every minute I’m there I find myself flooded with happiness. If you are looking for a wonderful experience, I definitely recommend taking lessons here!!!
Rob McDevitt: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueThe staff at Arthur Murray really make you feel at home. The dance lessons are so much fun. I definitely recommend everyone taking advantage of their New Student Offer and joining the fun!
Ari Sasmal: We went there as complete noobs whose dancing looked like Jabba the hut choking to death on a sprig of asparagus, and we've learned a lot in just a month and our body movements have started resembling dancing. Would highly recommend.
Carter Sherman: I wish I didn't have to do this, but here it goes...I was introduced to Arthur Murray through a Groupon. When we arrived for a dance lesson, we were informed that there was an office celebration, and that space would be limited. We were literally dancing against the wall and bumping into it. There was only one time where the instructor attempted to play music that went to our dancing rhythm, and the song was quickly and rudely changed to match the needs of the party.I eventually purchased lessons, against my best judgement. Upon reflection, I determined that this was a mistake, and I asked for a refund. The contract states that I will receive my money back within 10 business days, so I patiently waited that length. On the 10th day, I called and the management had no explanation as to why I did not receive my money back. They later call me back and ask for my credit card information to process the refund. Clearly there was nothing done in the two weeks that I was waiting. This place is a total disaster. I highly recommend reading reviews on Yelp.
Kimberly Edwards: Great staff!!! They made my son's wedding day such a special day!!! Thanks Raymond!!!!
Matthew Niedner: Fantastic instructors. Alex and Karina are fabulous. My wife and I have been about 50 times and definitely are noticing the difference in our repertoire, form, and confidence on the dance floor. They also host fundraising events to support local causes, especially at the children's hospital. Some good karma there!

Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Northville: what do users think?
Dat Ngo: Great place to have fun while learning different dances. Everybody is welcoming and patient which is great for a newer dancer 🕺
Nics3451: My partner and I purchased a Groupon package and enjoyed the initial experience enough, we just didn't love the teaching format. This is the only dance studio we've attended, so I can't say if it is better or worse then others. The instructors all seemed very friendly and helpful.Once we purchased a set of lessons it all just felt really controlled - we didn't feel like we were learning what we came for. We wanted to learn a handful of dances for social situations and instead they made us a binder and we started checking off boxes that were required. The dances are so diluted and dumbed down that we weren't really learning to do the actual dances. It is apparently tought in phases over time? This was really the point that made me second guess the studio. Again, not sure if this is the norm, but it seemed like we were wasting time and money on something we didn't ask for.It felt rushed. We'd get there, learn a step or two - really basic, really simple stuff, and then it was time to go.The dance parties felt the same. It's a great idea but the songs are all about a minute long and it were over before we knew what was happening and actually got going.Group lessons were good because we usually had a different instructor and saw things explained differently, but they were not for us. I understand that dancing with other partners is supposed to help you improve, but it was extremely uncomfortable for both of us during and made it very hard for me to learn or focus on anything. The school plan at Arthur Murray felt really expensive to us - especially for what we were getting out of it - which seemed like very little. I really wanted to love it. We both did. Hopefully we find something more in tune with our style and our budget.I would say give it a try, but ask lots of questions so you know what to expect.
Shop Girl: I had a date night their last night. We had the intro class. I came in ready! My date, he was a bit on the anxious side as he's never EVER danced before and admitted he has no rythem. However, at the end of our lesson, his excitement went from a 1 to a 5. He said he would dance again and enjoyed it. Our instructor Ashley was so down to earth, fun and kind. She made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. She also slowly brought us out our comfortzone to help us reach our goal. My date and I got to dance some swing together and learn some basic Maringa steps. He really liked the Maringa! I'm so glad we got to have fun a try something new. We will definitely keep this school and our instructor in mind when we are ready for future lessons.
Frankie Zeimet: Lots of fun! Great instruction in easy to digest lessons. The staff and other students create a high energy and very supportive environment! Absolutely recommend the northville location!
Cheryl Strine: Jay is my instructor and I am so happy being his student. He is very patient and kind. I look forward to each lesson with him. He has taught me so much and helps me feel confident in my abilities. This is a very warm and friendly place. I have made friends with many of my fellow students. I can't say enough.
JaLyn Masciulli: We had the greatest experience at Arthur Murray Northville while taking lessons to surprise and wow our guests at our wedding for our first dance. Summer was our instructor and was so awesome!! She was so patient with us and so supportive of us reaching our goal! She whipped up a little number for us that all of our guests raved on and on about!! Cindy was the first person we met when we arrived and the last one we had to share the video of our wedding dance with. She was such a cheerleader for us since the very first lesson. We never felt silly or embarrassed. We loved every second of our experience and our finished product!!
Lisa B: Started classes as something to do together now that we were empty nesters. Just wanted to be able to dance socially. Found a welcoming supportive environment with instructors as well as other students! It is the one thing we look forward to every week; no matter how bad the day has been, we leave smiling and laughing. Great activity to keep us moving and for mental health! Highly recommend
J H: My fiance and I are taking lessons for our wedding, and having so much fun! We didn't expect to enjoy it so much, but everyone at Arthur Murray is very friendly and supportive!
Peter Marsack: Cindy, Jay and the crew are top notch. Lots of fun and a great activity to do with the spouse highly recommended!
David Finkelstein: I went to Arthur Murray in Northville. Michigan four years ago to learn how to dance for my daughter’s wedding. I have been dancing at Arthur Murray ever since. Arthur Murray has a great syllabus for beginner, intermediate and advanced dancers. You learn all ballroom dances in a well planned multi phased program that builds upon your previous learning. I am sure there are other dance studios in your area, however Arthur Murray is by far the best.
Mary Beth O’Connell: We’ve been taking private dance lessons at Arthur Murray in Northville since October. One of my retirement goals was to learn to dance as a couple with my husband. My husband has been surprisingly enjoying himself and we’ve signed up for more lessons. Our teacher is Jacob and we absolutely love his affirmative teaching style. He laughs a lot and encourages us when we think we can’t learn a step or two. Cindy is the manager and encourages all to attend the group classes that are part of the lesson package. These group classes are in the evenings and teachers are available to help with practice. Singles and couples are welcome. All the teachers are friendly and competent. Come out and have some fun.
Stephen Harbison: My fiancée and I went to them in order to learn a wedding dance. We were immediately hooked! All the staff members are incredible friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They know how to make dancing fun and addictive! Highly recommend for anyone and everyone interested in dancing.
Michael Baker: Super Friendly and upbeat. Not being a great dancer(yet) I felt a little shy, but everyone Cindy, Monica, and Lauren made me feel comfortable... this studio is a great place with students at all levels of dance. Thank you so much for helping me realize a life goal!! I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone who has been wanting to learn to dance.
Sally Bazan: This is such a gem of a studio. Not too big that you get lost, not too small that you feel closed in. Check it out and learn a few legit moves to the music. You know you want to!
John Hester: The instructors are awesome. They walk through dance steps at your pace. My wife and I enjoy the group dance lessons as well The group lessons reinforce the private lessons.
Matthew Zhang: Overall excellent. Great for any dancing. Teachers are all friendly.
Ali Salbi: Had a blast there and time went by super fast!My friends and I went there earlier today it was so fun
Er Lu: Just dance! It'll be ok!!! The Arthur Murray dance studio is the best place to just dance your heart out!
Adam Grant: Lon will teach you the dance of the grocery store. Worth the lessons just for that!
Sushil Hanumolu: Best dance studio in Northeville
Emily De Long: We love learning to dance at the Northville Studio! The teachers are all very welcoming, and have lots of enthusiasm Thanks for helping us prepare for our wedding!
