Ann Jeffers: I contacted Imperial to replace my wood siding, which was rotted in places and damaged by woodpeckers, with Hardie fiber cement siding. Mikhail's quote came in below what others had quoted me and I chose them due to their high rating online. I was not disappointed. The crew performed the work immediately (literally the day after I cut them a check due to a gap in their schedule) and finished the job in a little over a week. They repaired framing that was damaged from water, and they replaced all the fiber board underneath the siding with plywood at a modest additional expense. The quality was top notch and everything was done as expected (e.g. cut to size, level, joints caulked). The crew was professional and friendly. Overall it was an excellent experience and I highly recommend them.

Brenda Gillespie: Mikhail of Imperial Building and Roofing replaced our older rubber roof with a TPO roof (our pitch is too shallow for shingles) to ready it for solar panels. Mikhail was patient with our roofing questions, as we were not familiar with TPO. He and his workers were prompt (8:30am) and thorough. They continued working into the evening to make sure all was done before they left. The next week the solar team drilled the bolt holes, and Imperial returned to carefully heat weld the Anchor product pads around the bolts. The coordination with the solar team required rescheduling, first due to rain and then to impending cold weather. We thoroughly appreciated Imperial's flexibility, working aroung their other jobs, to get everything done in time (it is not recommended to walk on TPO below 45 degrees). I live in a 100yr-old house, and was expecting this to be a problematic install with 50/50 balance of outside work and inside; but was pleasantly surprised to discover that nearly all the work was inside out, necessitating only the removal and replacement of the window stop trim piece on each window, and installing and sealing new aluminum trim on the outside. B Man: For all the promises of lifetime warranty... here's 12 years later. First: 12 years ago we had a brand new driveway. Their dump truck cracked the driveway. When we complained, we were told we should have asked them to park on the street if we had concerns they would damage our driveway. Second: the lifetime warranty is only good if they come come (paid) and inspect the roof. We found this out years later when we called to tell them the roof was leaking in our bathroom. Third: we had water damage in our bedroom, under our window, which we thought was due to our windows. Kids' had some damage in their rooms too. Economy being what it has been, we had to wait to afford windows until we were able to get them replaced. We did need new windows but in our room...to make a very long story shorter... the damage wasn't from our window; turns out that the gutters that were installed with the roof were improperly done, and the water was actually channelling into our house. Took years for the damage to show up. Another phone call, leading to - Fourth: oh we don't have that gutter company anymore, and the warranty on the gutter is only for 18 months. Super. I'm sure there were other things that I've forgotten over the years. But here we are, 12 years later, getting another roof by someone we know personally who owns a construction company. He laughs when he looks at the work. He says things like this keep him in business. And if he charged people to allow him to return to inspect his work, he'd be out of business. The problem with issues like ours is that shoddy work takes years to play out. After 20 years of home ownership, I now know that whenever someone says "lifetime warranty", it really means nothing. No one stands behind their work for a lifetime. There is always a loophole, a way to dodge responsibility. I hear people say, "I chose ___ because {insert big celebrity name} recommends them" and I say, well we chose MR. ROOF because of the Joe Gagnon ads. And while I respect Mr. Gagnon, Mr Roof is just the same as any company, no more special, no more guaranteed. Best bet: forget ads. Talk to your neighbors. Keep your eyes peeled for someone getting work done. Stop and ask them about their experience. Get your own data. Forget ads, even from celebrities. Talk to someone who isn't paid to endorse.Update: Thank you for responding, however this is too little, too late. You see, we did contact you. We contacted you after the driveway was cracked. We contacted you when it was leaking. We contacted you when the gutters were at fault. So, three strikes, and we are done contacting you. Now I leave the review. As always, buyer beware. Eirik Vitso: After getting many other estimates from other "major" roofing companies in our area, we ultimately decided to go with GoTo Roofing for our complete roof replacement and repairing and upgrading our attic ventilation.Our house has larger eaves (soffits) and a low slope. We previously had leaks and knew that the roof need to be replaced due to its age and condition. When we had an insulation company come blow in more insulation, we learned that the previous owners have covered the soffits and gable vents, so our old roof had literally no ventilation.Knowing all of this, we provided this information to all of the contractors we reached out to for estimates. GoTo Roofing was the only company willing to do the extra work to properly ventilate our roof. This meant cutting open all the soffits, installing baffles and adding box vents instead of ridge vents. Every other contractor was more interested in offering a 1-Day Guarantee and would not entertain opening the soffits (which our roof was designed to have). Personally, I wanted it done right...not fast.After meeting with all these different roofing companies, I called GoTo Roofing to come out for a second visit to further discuss their process and what I would be getting if we hired them. They answered all my questions with great honesty and knowledge. Originally when I got my estimate, we had planned on replacing our gutters as well, but when I mentioned we were planning on replacing our siding and windows in the near future, GoTo Roofing recommended that we keep our current gutters and wait to replace them when we do the siding and windows. They recommended this because the gutters would have to be taken off to replace the siding anyways. Not sure many companies would be that honest.On installation day, they arrived when they said they would and set-up/work began immediately. By mid morning they were removing the lower sheets of roof decking so they could open up all the soffits. At this point they noticed a good amount of mold on the underside of the roof decking. We knew this was a possibility due to our previous ventilation issues. Upon further inspection, they realized that the best course of action was to replace all the decking on our upper roof. Before doing so, they met with me, showed me photos of the moldy decking and we discussed the issue at hand. I agreed we had to replace all the decking and work continued. Doing this added a significant amount of time an effort to the job, but they were willing to do it because it was the right thing to do. They also discovered that our bathroom vents were venting into the attic and not out the roof (compounding the mold issue). They addressed this as well and fixed it so that the bathroom fans vented out the roof.All in all, I couldn't be happier with the service, installation process, communication, attention to detail and overall product that we received. They paid attention to all the details, found some issues and fixed them and made sure we were happy along the whole process. Amy Lajcak: I called to see about getting a quote on putting siding on three small buildings for my business, and the guy who answered the phone was rude and condescending. First he didn't know what 'I'd like to have siding added to some buildings' meant, so I explained we have three small wood buildings that we'd like to have sided. He asked if we were replacing the siding...no...we want siding added to our wood buildings. Then he snotily said, 'well, wood is a type of siding so it would be replacing it' - um...what? You're not going to remove the wooden walls of the building, which is what these are, so how do you figure it's a replacement?! Then he asked me what type of siding I was looking for - well... what do you have? To which he replied, 'We only have one that we would use on that type. It's more durable but more expensive' Of course it is. If you only had one type that you would put on there THEN WHY DID YOU ASK ME? I tell ya, it's hard to get good service anymore! I'd rather pay someone else more money to avoid these clowns! Beware!

Jim S: I cannot recommend this company for installation of James Hardie siding. We had a rather straight forward job on a 2 story colonial. In the beginning they present themselves as an "elite" top notch company around that does everything by the book and to the James Hardie specifications. The pricing, was very high, but the salesman sold by making a lot of claims that they were one of the top sellers of siding in Michigan and were James Hardie certified. I had high expectations based off his claims and promises and the price quoted.When it came time to do the install everything was great up until they stated doing the work. As I mentioned earlier, for the price I was paying I expected nothing but the best.There were many shortcuts and compromises, some of them I will list - Use of incorrect length nails. This one got so bad I demanded they stop work and show me the correct nails were being used or I would have not allowed work to continue. So half of my house is now put together with nails that do not have sufficient penetration into the studs. - Use of cheap "woven" builder grade house wrap, that was sloppily installed. If you ever notice siding installs, 95% of companies use non woven brand name Tyvek. They used the cheapest thing available and did not pay the extra to use the Hardie brand wrap that their competitors use. There were also many un-taped seams and patches of missing wrap altogether. I never did see if they patched or taped the poor job they did initially. - Arguments about proper flashing. This one really gets me. We probably argued about how to flash a window properly for an entire week. One day during the install I saw they were about ready to start the siding install (trim around the rear windows was already up with NO FLASHING) and the rear windows of the house had ZERO flashing ground the OSB. It was really unbelievable and I had to watch them like a hawk to make sure they did even the most basic flashing in certain areas. - Gaps in the siding install. Hardie has a maximum gap of 1/4 inch from the trim boards but there were many many places there was 3/8 gap and some where the siding and the trim was actually touching with no gap.There were many other daily problems Such as - Poor storage of the materials. Hardie siding boards left out on sawhorses so that they were bending significantly under their own weight. - Siding not protected from rain storms. - Poor installation of soffits so that there are gaps between the trim and the soffit. Poor application or missing use of caulk. Property damage and torn window screens (which they did attempt to repair) I could go on and on.The conclusion is - I would definitely not use them for a high quality install. Working with them and trying to head off mistakes and attempted shortcuts was extremely stressful. Perhaps if you have a rental property of just doing a quick install of vinyl they would be better suited for that. But the workmanship and craftsmanship is just not there. Please look around for other installers if you want to have peace of mind and a top tier installation.I went back and worth with if I should make my experience public. But I decided it is the right thing to do as I truly do not want other home owners to go through this.

Marissa Larson: We have had a HORRIBLE experience with this company and would NOT recommend them to anyone. Our project was quoted in the Summer of 2021 and is still not finished. All we needed was to have some exterior wood repaired and painted and new gutters installed. It is September 2022, and it is still not complete. A crew came out in early August 2022 to replace some wood trim and remove the gutters. And we are still waiting... I understand labor shortages and material delays, but our project was quoted over a year ago. The communication and sense of urgency from the company have been terrible. The project's cost has increased due to material price increases, but had this been completed when scoped initially, this would not have been the case. Stuart Turner: We worked with McCarter Construction for a complete removal and replacement of a front door and sidelight windows. There were some challenges due to getting all the materials due to supply chain issues that were not McCarter's fault. They were very responsive to our questions and were very proactive in communicating with us every step of the way. We had an issue with a door closer mechanism and they went out of their way to resolve the issue. We would work with them again for our next project.

A polite, efficient team was sent out to do a prompt temporary repair while we waited to get on their schedule. And the final repair was just completed by Chris & Nate who were courteous and efficiently got the job done. We will definitely look to the McCarter group in the future.

Kevin Gunning: I wasn't able to have my roof inspected when I initially bought my house because it was winter and the roof was snow-covered. Later, I called John McCarter Construction to see if they would send someone out to inspect it and let me know if I needed a new roof. They immediately sent someone who took a look and told me that though the roof was older, I could probably keep it for another 4 years or so. They COULD have just said 'Oh, yeah you definitely need a new roof now' and pocketed the money. I'd have never been the wiser. But because they were square and honest and demonstrated integrity, I thanked them for the inspection and put their contact info aside. This year (four years after the inspection), I had some damage to my roof and called them out again. It was time. They were consistently responsive, everyone I spoke to or dealt with was friendly, knowledgeable and straightforward. The whole process filled me with confidence that the job would be done right. In one day, they removed my old roof and installed the new one. Lightning fast, professional, experienced and honest. What more could you want from a company? I sincerely could not be more satisfied.
