Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association: what do users think?
Jim Cauley: Another corrupt scam by MICHIGAN'S GOVERNMENT. The company is privately owned and if you don't pay, you don't get insurance.
Peter Hoezee: Thank you, MCCA, for the $400 check in March 2022.
Cat Stevens: Michigan should just completely abandon the driving laws on the books and just adopt another states like Ohio's or Illinois'.
Bruce Bolyen: A useless organization that takes the insured's money and gives very little back in refunds to drivers among the 5 billion in surplus if our money 100 dolkarscoer vehicle does not cut it!!!
Chalisse Wilson: The MCCA was created to manage the fund paid by Michigan drivers to cover us in the event of a catastrophic accident. Over the last decade I have witnessed them harassing, declining and fighting survivors that are entitled to treatment and recovery.
Penrod Auto Repair: Unconstitutional. You can’t force somebody to buy a good or service an force them to pay for someone else’s health care.
Abraham Alvarez: My MCCA fee is higher than insuring my car!!!
John Bruce: I've witnessed many people that have benefited from catastrophic coverage. Think about a 20-year-old that is now totally dependent for the rest of their life all because someone caused an accident. All the people giving this organization 1 star don't have a clue. Just wait until you have a catastrophic accident and no coverage. You will end up on Medicaid. Medicaid will pay very little and many hospitals don't want to deal with them.
Jay Rogers: A no-good, waste of money bureaucracy. Instead of letting citizens keep more of their money for themselves, politically connected big government insiders line up their own political pockets with these outrageous fees. A horrible act in 1978 courtesy of Democrats and a RINO governor. I do not miss paying over $200 a month for auto insurance and largely left MI because of the MCCA. Shame on this Lansing criminal enterprise! Disband them now. Way to hurt the poor and let costs go out of control.
Karyn McCartney: I noticed a lot of people are thinking this is useless and an unwanted expense; you really need to think of it as an insurance program. While living in MI my family was t-boned by another driver. With all of our injuries, we surpassed the $1M mark day 1 in the hospital. If it wasn't for the MCCA and its coverage there is no way we could have afforded the 1.5yrs of rehab I required just so I could function like a normal adult again, so I could go back to work. There is no way that without the MCCA we could afford the lifetime of PT, extra doctor visits, and needed surgeries for our little girl. This money goes into a fund for YOU if you get into a catastrophic accident. Trust me, the money you'd 'win' in a lawsuit wont cover much of the life long bills you'll be paying. I don't wish this type of accident on anyone or their family but if it does happen you should be happy you have the MCCA to help.
David Morris: The Board of this corrupt association is made up of 5 Insurance companies. They are exempt from transparency as the association is private . The association has approximately 23 BILLION dollars of our money hoarded in the stock market. The annual expenditures of the association are less than 2 billion. No fault was created to prevent frivolous law suits, yet every other television commercial is a trial Attorney ( can you say corrupt ? ) I WANT 5 BILLION DOLLARS withdrawn from investments to fix my roads !!!
Beth Flynn: Thank you for making my insurance rates sky rocket. Such a bogus fee.
D M: This is a complete joke.
Robby L: How is it that this is company is not financially transparent, but yet I, a Michigan driver and tax payer have to pay a government mandated fee to them in order to have freedom of mobility to make a living? Privately owned should not be a shield when tax payer money and our government as citizens is involved. Seems like a question of legality is in there somewhere...
Bryan B: The MCCA is a rip-off. Why in the h*** would they push for an increase when they have over 20B, yes with a B, sitting in this pot? All excess money needs to be refunded back to us like back in the late 90s. There needs to be transparency in where our money goes. This fund all started when then Gov Milk'em, I mean Milliken signed it into law. Keep raising the MCCA, then more people will drive without insurance.
Philip Van Ee: Another useless waste of peoples money. Michigan auto insurance is out of control.
Garage King: The absolute worst part about living in Michigan is the MCCA. The fact MCCA exists and we cannot opt out of it's arbitrary, every-increasing fees for it's mob-based socialist program, is proof the politicians in Lansing care nothing for us. $192/year/vehicle? This is criminal and its dissolution should be Priority 1 at the capitol.
Henry Owsiak: THIEVES !!!!!
Nova: You have done nothing to deserve our money. Michigan citizens would love to vote you out of existence given the chance
Nia Becker: MCCA is a mandated by law. Everyone who purchases car insurance is required to pay about $200 per car per year. This "non-profit" is not subject FOIA (Freedom of information Act) or the Open meetings Act. Why?
Chuck Bartus: So disappointing that our state representatives fail to reform this law so as to allow seniors to opt out. Highest auto insurance in the country, but they listen to insurance co., lawyers, and hospitals while putting $24B in the fund.
