Ann Arbor Sewing Center: what do users think?
Wendy Mrdjenovich: Wonderful service and friendly staff. The store for quilters of all levels.
Gabi Fracassi: Rick worked on my sewing machine and did a fabulous job. Fixed things that I didn’t even know needed fixing. Very sweet, fabulous service. Rick is a real pro. 100/10 would recommend.
Gabriella Brandt: Rick was so kind and fixed my sewing machine right when I arrived, explained the whole thing to me, and even replaced me needle for free. Love this store!
Michelle Weller: Super cool place!! If you're into quilting/embroidering, you should check it out. Great fabric selection - all cute. Returning this week for a fun class with my mom! Looking forward to it.
Denita Schroeder: Very friendly and helpful workers. Lots of patterns and beautiful and fun fabrics.
Julie Butler: It was my fist time here. Awesome experience. Super polite and helpful!
Dean Hellerud: Awesome staff ready to help with your project. Willing to teach new techniques and shortcuts. They have ideas for new projects and knowledge of a lot of different equipment. Decent prices on a large well organized products. So much to choose from.
Bryan B: 🧚‍♀️ Fairy Door
Jean Bolda: Was unable to move lever foot, brought it in and was fixed in 15 minutes. I will be bringing my sewing machine back if I have any future problems.
Melissa Reitz: Fun & knowledgeable advice about complimentary colors from Kathy!(shark quilter @ gaaqg)
Amber Music: They are super well stocked on fabrics and are all lovely people. They helped me get some stuff to finish off a quilt.
Lori Blough: I'm a new quilter and have been to the store several times. Everyone is very helpful and the selection of fabric is fantastic. I'm bringing my granddaughter with me to select fabric for a bed quilt and can't wait to get her started in the love of sewing!
Denise Atherton: Great shop with beautiful fabric and helpful staff
Jacqueline Wilson: Each time that I have gone, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Love the fabric choices too!
Madeleine Moir: I went into the store looking to get my machine fixed. I'm a new sewer and bought a used machine and wasn't even sure if it was worth fixing. Not only did they manage to fix my machine for no charge (it just needed a bit of oil), they helped me understand what level of machine I had, and I signed up for their Sew My First Quilt class next month.Everyone working there was kind and knowledgeable. They helped me get only the supplies that I need to get started, and did push me into anything more advanced (at one point even talking me out of impulse buying a project well beyond my current level).I will definitely be back and am recommending them to anyone I know that wants skilled helped from nice people.
Kathleen Reff: Update to original ratingThank you Ann Arbor Sewing Center! It was a great pleasure visiting you and getting some really awesome fabric. I can’t wait to get my projects started. I look forward to seeing y’all again in the spring or maybe a class. Great time, great selection, great people. Also I look forward to posting on your Instagram #annarborsewingcenterKathleenAs a new person that just came into town, I felt so unwelcome at this store. The person with 19 antique sewing machines felt it was necessary to show off her collection after I just lost mine in a flood. Not only was the staff unfriendly to new people who moved to town, but the staff felt it was necessary to cut up kits instead of showing off their new fabric they get in every week. Very disappointed and hurt. Never going back to Ann Arbor Sewing Center. I will not go to a place that makes me feel judged for not having a quality sewing machine. The staff handled my problem very poorly. Thank you everyone their making my first experience in your store the worst one. I will take my millennial self back to Joann’s and Michaels…They have a place for me there. 😿 Good luck Ann Arbor Sewing Center in staying in business
Laura Koch: This place SAVED my old sewing machine! It died on me in the middle of a project, and although it’s not an expensive machine, it is still one I had hoped to use for a few more years, or at least to finish this project. I took it in (didn’t think to call for an appointment, just did a walk-in), and they were able to get it going again (with lots of oil…my fault for not keeping up with maintenance!). Many many thanks, will definitely be returning for fabric/supply shopping, and to purchase a new machine when the time comes.
Jennifer Langridge: One of my favorite local quilting stores!! I’ve been shopping here for over 10 years. They carry a wide range of fabric from traditional to batiks to modern. They even carry the entire line of Kona solids. I especially love their selection of children’s quilting cottons. I also bought my Bernina sewing machine from them and only trust them with it (I’ve tried 3 other stores but none hold a candle to AASC). It is worth the 1.5 hour drive one way! They have a quick turn around for repairs/cleaning and don’t try to upsell you during routine maintenance. They also have a large selection of patterns and notions and they also offer classes. Fabric is organized and the staff is super friendly and helpful.Be aware there is a flight of stairs to climb from the parking lot. If you have a handicap sticker for your car be sure to park out front. A restroom is located on site.
Vonalyn Swan: Great shop with great fabrics and very pleasant workers.
unsatisfied99: Kind of an oddball little place. There are probably five or six levels. Some are only a step or two up, others are half of floor up. Lots and lots of choices of fabric. Some good fabric choices.Lots of notions and accessories. The staff was very helpful and seemed knowledgeable. It is worth a visit if you are experienced at sewing or even just a beginner. The parking lot is behind the building and the traffic flow is a little bit out of the ordinary. Follow the arrows on the pavement.
V.T. HOPKINS: I've visited twice in the last 2 months. My first time was to have my machines serviced for the first time after years of sitting unused and never serviced before. Rick was great checked them out and oiled them. Told me that the piece on my serger could be bought online and how to add it. I didn't trust myself to do called him last Friday and he told me to come in Monday afternoon in he would look at it. He popped it on within 2 minutes for free. Everyone in the store is super friendly and helpful your greeted soon as you enter. I will be a returning customer for sure. Thank You Rick 😊 Ann Arbor Sewing Center see you again soon!!! Glad I discovered you

Leabu Sewing Center: what do users think?
Salwa Faris: Today I found about this place , I loved it and buy new sewing machines too . Best place must go and visit
Julie Burton: Extremely helpful! Thank you!
Kimberly Mchugh: Helpful, friendly staff! Great selection of machines as well as some very nice fabric choices that you don't see everywhere.
Jeanne Luddeni: Great place and great people they help you.
Mary Brooks: If you value your machine DO NOT use their service center. The service guy has no idea what he was doing. He broke 2 of my machines plus my girlfriends. Put the wrong parts in. Spent many hours and alot of money repairing mistakes HE did!! Stay far away from this place.
Sailing Kokopelli: Honest
Barbara Gronas: Amazing and knowledgeable and helpful. I have an old White sewing machine that needed new wiring and Tony helped me out so much. He explained everything to me in great detail and when I got home it worked out perfectly. I had to call back because the motor plug wires were frayed and he told me how to rewire it. Amazing! I have never been to a place like this before that offered so much help and gave me so perfect instructions. This is my go to place now and I am going to recommend it to all my friends. Thank you so much Tony.
Mary Bajcz: This is my favorite sewing machine store both for products and service. I like that Tony will look at your machine and give you an analysis and estimate of the cost for repair before assessing a charge. Most places charge you to do the analysis. I just got my machine back from repair and it's running like new!
Tiffany Marra: Nice people helping the community and a small quilting shop by serving as a dropoff/pick up point for quilts.
Ray H: Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Rebecca Cole: I dropped off 2 sewing machine to try and get them repaired
Jason Smith: Very helpful, answered all my questions
Faith Nichols: Fantastic employees.
MJ Maloney: Great people
Apron Strings: Heaven on Earth for those who sew.
Patricia Wellhausen: I hope a lot of people see this! I have been a customer of this fine company for many years and would probably be planted on their doorstep if I didn't live so far away. I would never go anyplace else for service on my machines or purchase another from any place else. Gene and Tony are so knowledgeable about their fine products and bend over backwards to help people find and care for just the right machine for their needs. They really value their customers and that is rare today.I just can't say enough about how much I appreciate them.
Myra Bernson: Staff is great! Very helpful.
Denise Kantner: We’ve been loyal customers of Leabu for at least 30 years, and they never fail to please. I’ve made two bridal gowns for our daughters, countless prom and homecoming gowns, and costumes galore all on Leabu sewing machines. Today I came into their shop with my machine, not working, begging for a favor. Our 5-month-old granddaughter in Atlanta needs a “Belle” costume (the yellow one from “Beauty and The Beast”) by the end of the week, and Gene came to my rescue. He had our machine repaired by mid-afternoon and I was able to get in three more hours of sewing today thanks to his hard work and kindness. I’ll get the project done on time thanks to Gene. Leabu is the BEST!!!
michele mead: Such a great shop for helping you and also they continue to teach. It is so great to learn something new
MK Buddy: Nice!
Barbara Poore: Ive been using Leabu for service on my machines for years. They've been able to fix most anything I've brought. I was interested in buying a new machine for quilting and sewing. Tony was excellent at explaining the differences in the machines. He showed me many features which helped me decide on a Brother. They are a busy place with lots if classes and very helpful and knowledgeable people.

JOANN Fabric and Crafts: what do users think?
BT LEO: Beware of the ponytail gal she'll tell you donate to the charity and you can get 40% off your fabric but the reality is it was already on sale and she just lied about it to get donation... She literally said if you donate any money I will give you 40% off so management should probably have a chat with her about that...other than that I really like this store
Kate: The workers are very nice and helpful, it's easy to find the things you're looking for and there are many options of fabric to choose from. Overall a great place for crafts and sewing projects!
Samantha Wilkerson: Rude staff ordered a online pick up just a hot glie gun and some glue sticks. They canceled the hot glue gun and gave me the sticks. Was told the gun was out of stock. Ordered the same gun in a different order same day 5 minutes after I picked up the first. Lazy rude staff will be going to canton or Jackson or hobby lobby
Cupid Valentine: I love this store , they have great selections and most of the employees are really awesome. I would give this store five stars but there are..some employees in the store I have issues with. While I was shopping I overheard one of the mangers (Threasa) yelling at an employee on the sales floor. Just ripping into the poor kid and being really nasty. I haven't really stopped in since.i usually like this store alot better because the staff are way nicer than at ypsilanti and it's a smaller store which helps with my anxiety. But after hearing that women just be well... not so nice to her staff. I don't know if I'll shop there while she's in the store.Props to the rest of the employees though. Good luck!!
Marty Murray: I asked if they could cut 5 yards of material at 1 yard increments, I was told no they could only cut it at 5 yards. The reasoning for this is because i cant cut a straight line to save my life, but I figured I had no choice, even bought a $25 dollar set of scissors to give it a try. I messed it all up cutting it to short and wasted $75 in material. Come to find out amazon will cut it this way for and are cheaper. Lesson learned
Cindy Ziegler: Great staff
Marilynn Thomas: Great selection of fabric. Craft section not so much.
Lily Lee: Love this store! Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of craft ideas and supplies plus home decor.
Mark Erichson: It's what I expected; had been there before. Selection of the craft products I came in for was decent, not great. More are available on their website, but I pretty much needed to see them in person. A happy surprise was that they were on a good sale. Not many staff, but the two I tracked down were friendly and helpful. Store was nicely organized, fairly well stocked.
Chris Poindexter: Nice selection of crafts. Staff are friendly.
Amber Music: The staff have always been very kind. The store is clean, well organized, and has everything you think a joanns would have.
Vicky Blanshard: Excellent service as always
Courtney e: Slow service and Workers we’re moody while on call.
Avram Liebowitz: All the crafting supplies you'll need
Tochair (C): Not the greatest store, okay for what you mostly need, lacking things like wood stain
Morgan Hughes: Decent selection for a smaller store
Jennifer Harlow: Employees are very sweet
Justin P: The staff are absolutely incompetent, rude and disorganized. Improper instructions on handling of items
Stephanie Benedict: Always clean and organized. The staff is friendly and always helpful. One of my favorite places to shop!
Matthew Quemada: Neat and clean. Had what we were looking for.
J Foxx: Well they always seem to have what we are looking for in stock. Their staff is friendly and really helpful!

A-1 Alterations: what do users think?
Mike Williams: I have been going here for years and his work is excellent, it looks like it came from the store that way.He can alter shirts, mens suits, Jeans (they look perfect), clacks and so on. I wont go anywhere else for my altering needsServices:Waist adjustments,Alterations,Shirt tailoring,Pants alterations
Lita Ray: Very racist toward other minorities. They directly made racist comments to my face. I had a White person with me- and they treated that person better. Very unprofessional in other ways. Needs to be shutdown.
Jonathan Li: Great place, friendly service and fast turnaround!
Casey Cousineau: I got a bridesmaid dress altered here and they were so accommodating, fast, and the dress was impeccable. Got so many compliments and I believe that’s in large part thanks to the tailoring!!
Xin Li: Slightly more expensive than I thought. But the work was done professionally.
Azure: Absolutely phenomenal job, needed to get the zipper replaced on a vintage leather varsity jacket that was beyond repair, did an absolutely fantastic job replacing it and it looks brand new again! Cannot thank them enough for bringing it back to life
Liang Zhao: The owner easily refused to help me just because I asked the price. It was a horrible experience even just called them. Very rude.
Pooja Nair: Had a very delicate dress shortened here. Exceptional service and skill. Really appreciated the craftsmanship and honesty with what is possible and what may not be on my short timeline.
Abhishek Roy: We had very good experience here. The alterations for shirt & pants were done very well and within a reasonable time. The total cost was very reasonable and I feel better than many other places in nearby areas. The owner/tailor allowed me to try the fitted clothing before I left, so that I feel satisfied the work was done up to my expectations. He was precise in the conversation, and did the job quite well.
Charlotte Juergens: Really disappointed by this experience. Had my sweater altered and was surprised when the shop owner said I didn’t need to try it on upon pickup, saying “it’s just a sweater.” Got home and found that the job was done shockingly badly— asymmetrical, bunching, too big. Went back and shop owner declined to give full refund. Had to take item elsewhere and pay all over again. Thank goodness the sweater didn’t have major sentimental value.Service:Alterations
Malavika Sabu: Amazing quality of work for super affordable prices. Totally worth it.
James Henry: Amazing tailor! High class and very fair pricing
Vivian Chen: Great friendly man and got exactly what I needed :)
Tom Fox: This place is fantastic! So rarely do you see someone who’s a real expert in their craft, and holy moly the guy here is phenomenal. Very reasonable prices too
Tedobeledo: Great work for a fair price. Bout all ya need to know for a tailor.
Will Desrochers: They do great work and have fast turnaround.
Chase's Channel: Best work for best price in a2
Julia Kwapiszewski: Moderate to low prices for quality work
Jarod Farchione: Awesome tailor, highly recommend - I came in and they hemmed and lined my pants on the spot. Great customer service.
Raw Soundz Ent: Terrible experience today. I came to this exact location 6 months ago to get 5 patches sewn on a vest. I have lost weight since then and the vest become way too big. I purchased the SAME EXACT VEST in a smaller size. I removed the patches from the old vest (that this location sewed on previously) and bring them in today with my new vest (same exact vest as before, different size) and today the gentleman tells me “I cannot do it, the pockets are too small and you wouldn’t be able to use the pockets” mind you I remember him mentioning this on the last vest, but it turned out it was done completely fine and all pockets could be used. After reminding him he did this same exact service on the same exact type of vest for me before he simply laughed in my face and replied “maybe it can be done, but it’s just too much work” wow. Just finding parking is stressful to even bring something in here downtown. I regret returning to this establishment as a patron. Never again.UPDATE: immediately after I left I went to tabs alterations on Plymouth and the extremely nice woman completed it with no issues even sane day within hours! I know where I’m going from now on :)
Michael Brito: They did a repair of a tightening cord that had ripped off from the bottom of an active jacket shell for me. My repair was done within a week, and the price was very fair for the work done. I'll be coming back!

Maker Works: what do users think?
Brooke Marshall: Amazing resource, super-friendly community, good vibes all around.
Matthew Ritchey: I really appreciated the friendly inclusive atmosphere and was surprised as to the breadth of knowledge among the staff and regulars.
phoebbie brassow: Fun and awesome experience
G Brandolino: A maker space that's truly welcoming to everyone, resourceful and friendly staff, great variety of tools. A local treasure!
Kc DIxaday: Maker works literally changes people's lives. I think it is an unknown vital resource to our community. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The tools are robust and in good working order. Spending your time and money there can enrich your life more than any other service you can buy in Ann arbor. If I could give it 10 stars I would. At the very least get a tour and have your mind blown.
John Merlin Williams: Recently took a class which included building and taking home (!) a small desktop CNC router. An all-day class (well, it IS more complicated than building a birdhouse : -) but extremely well-organized, with an incredibly detailed, take-home build and operations manual they wrote in-house. Included an introduction to open source software for basic design, CAM, and CNC operation of the router. The attendees ranged in age from 12-ish to 70+ (me). I've never worked with CNC, but this made it very approachable.
Josh Brucksch: Did not know this place existed until a friend showed me. Great selection of high quality tools. Took the CNC ShopBot class this past week and it was really informative and well done. Will be back!
Francis Esmonde-White: I love maker works. So will you (I hope & expect). Stop by to take a free tour and you will see what I mean. It's one of the most interesting places in Michigan. The breadth of different tools is astounding. Is rare to have any project that can't be done here (excluding things that require hazardous materials). The classes are fun and extremely helpful, even to people with some previous experience with the relevant tools and techniques. The instructors and staff are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, interesting, friendly, and welcoming. The environment and culture at maker works spreads to members and visitors alike. There are also many community groups that hold interesting meetings at maker works, in addition to community events that maker works puts on.
Bonnie Cervantes: Friendly service, knowledgable staff
Matt Glover: Love it here!
Scott Cleveland: Makerspace is not an easy thing to run. This one is run very well. Their staff are all absolute rock stars! Everyone should strive to have such great people come together.
Kelly Oneill: Shop has a good selection of machines and provide appropriate instructions. Staff is responsive and helpful.
D.Cherie Buck: Love the people here, they help make my project possible!
James Boston: Maker Works and its impressive array of industrial and commercial class machinery is a unique and valuable asset to the Ann Arbor community. Most people would never have access to the class of equipment at Maker Works unless they were a professional in that particular trade. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The check-out classes for the various machines are thorough and educational. Pricing is more than fair and the other members are friendly and easygoing.Being October of 2020, Covid is still very much a public health concern. In my opinion, the measures in place at the facility to mitigate risks associated with Covid are sufficient without being excessive. If you need access to equipment, space, and knowledge to pursue your crafts, get over to Maker Works and get your crafting groove on!
Jeff Ceo: Maker Works is my go-to workshop for tools and expertise for a professionally finished product - regardless of your craft. I built a butcher block table top to a size I could no longer finish within my own workshop. Maker Works has professional grade equipment to handle the biggest jobs with experts there who are happy to guide you.
Gayle Martin: Wonderful place to get a project done. And they are very helpful.
Drew Zuniga: Al was a fantastic instructor and we learned a lot in a short amount of time. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn more about design and/or crafting!
Lana Krolikowski: I have been a member for several years and this place is one of the most magical on Earth (Sorry Disney). You can learn how to make almost anything, you can get help with projects, you can use a workshop full of tools that I would never be able to afford all of on my own, and they fix things when they break so fast you never even know something happened. Their emphasis on safety makes learning new things feel very comfortable and everyone is so darn friendly. I could not recommend them more if I tried, go get a tour and check them out for yourself!
William Patton: Hadn't been doing woodworking since 8th grade. Suffice it to say, decades ago. Took multiple classes to familiarize myself with the modern equipment and got right into my projects. Great environment to learn. Tools great. Very friendly and helpful spot. Plan on staying involved with the workshop.
Sandra Bernhard: This is a great place. Friendly very knowledgeable people who share all their knowhow.
