Good Cakes and Bakes: what do users think?
Leslie Jackson: Big portions, very tasty I got vegan strawberry crunch cake , cinnamon roll & cookie butter cake. I rate them all a 10!! I’m not vegan but have dairy n egg allergy and I never thought I’ll ever eat anything as real good cake ever again. The vegan red velvet cup was delicious too
Catherine Savel: red velvet!!!!!!!! absolutely smashed it. carrot cake could have been spicier (like more cinnamony?) but it was bangin also. overall the vibes and price and location were killer 3
Deanna Saleh: The GF vegan brownie is hands down the best GF brownie I’ve had!
John Autrey: Tasty cake slices! The cupcakes are delicious as well. The cashier was friendly and informative.
Detroit Red: The vegetarian carrot cake was delicious
Evelyn S: Good Cakes and Bakes … ooo weee.Danielle told me that the baked goods I purchased were going to make me think somebody’s grandma was in the kitchen…she was right. I bake, so I know quality goods. JUST like there’s a fashion BAKED goods place in our area that uses boxed cake mix. I bought four different items but only two pictures are attached. I bought a vegan brownie for a coworker who I asked to give me her honest opinion…she loved the vegan brownie. She said it was delicious and moist; she’d definitely have it again. I shared a spinach, tomato, feta quiche with my sister and she loved it (I wanted it to have more feta, that’s just me). I treated myself to TWO slices of rum cake and a slice of lemon velvet cake. Baaaby, when I tell you that I was excited about my choices. I know I shouldn’t buy a whole cake or go there every week, but I have absolutely found my new bakery for when I want sweets that meet both my approval and desires. The rum cake has the perfect amount of rum; my hand is a little heavier. That lemon velvet cake…I deserved every moist morsel of the three layer cake with real frosting. Rename the place … GREAT CAKES AND BAKES…grandma’s spirit is in the kitchen.
Trina Williams: Not friendly
Kelly Williams: I ordered a cake through Goldbelly and it was good! Cake was fresh and my family loved it
Lillie Patterson: The bakery is nicely set up. It's been a few years since I purchased baked goods from here. This past week I went twice. My 1st purchase was excellent. I decided to make 2 purchases this time. The red velvet cake wasn't that good to me. What I like about management here is that they are willing to provide me with another slice of cake for any inconvenience. I do believe the bakery should start doing samples of their baked goods so customers can see if it's to their liking.
Gene Testimony Hall: Update March 11 2023 (2 Years Later): Every experience has been a great experience since Sonja and I started supporting this establishment 2 years ago! Quality of food and customer service has not decreased!Still HAPPY ♥️🔥💯‼️Gene Testimony Hall(2 Years Previous): Every time I visit this establishment, the food is not only great, but the customer service and professionalism of the store is superb! By the way, my wife LOVES THE VEGAN products!Great Job Team!Gene Testimony Hall
Carla: The Caramel cake is good, so much to choose from
J Eng: I had an organic German chocolate cake shipped to me. The cake tasted great!
kayla Young: Best cupcakes I’ve ever had!!! My friend brought me some strawberry cupcakes and the icing made it!! It was so light and it was not too sweet. I’d go again!
Redrose: I have been calling and emailing and posting what i want on the form but i never get a response. I need a cake for my cousins wedding but i guess we are going elsewhere.
SHAMARA BARRETT: The flavor is perfect. Not too sweet. My kids ate 12 cupcakes in 1 day. I'm also guilty!! They were so good. I had 4 of them at 4 am. It's worth every penny.
Pamela Belding: OMG delicious 😋
Alicia Logan: So today was my first time trying Good Cakes and Bakes. i ordered some cupcakes for Christmas Dinner for my family and they look delicious. I ordered picked up a slice of the Red Velvet cake. It taste a little dry not sure if it had been sitting for a few days. I will try the cupcakes and see what happens......fingercrossed. The person at the counter was very nice and respect and courteous. The environment is nice as well.
Gaming Assassin95: Chocolate chip cookie on point it was a little hard but it was still good.... Breakfast sandwich was dry and has no flavor at all
Marie Davis: Excellent and delicious red velvet and pound cakes delivered in time for Christmas. Fresh and packed perfectly for shipping. Will order again.

TERRI'S CAKES DETROIT: what do users think?
Kita Good: This place is absolutely amazing. Cake and Cupcakes were so delicious. Presentation very beautiful! Would recommend 10/10!
Dana: I used Terri's Cakes for my October wedding and cannot recommend them enough for their desserts and as vendors.First, the desserts. I'm not a huge cake person (sorry!) but Terri's Cakes know what they're doing and they do it WELL. The flavor options are all amazing, I actually can't pick a favorite of what we tried. The cakes are moist and the frosting isn't overly sugary and sweet. For our wedding, we ordered a 3-tiered cake that could feed all of our guests, as well as the cake jars for people to take home as a favor. Terri's cakes also offered to customize the jars for us with stickers of whatever we wanted - we chose our dog and it was such a cute, small detail that a lot of guests loved.Second, the customer service. This is a family owned business and they will treat you like family as well. The woman we did our consultations with was so helpful, fun and nice. She explained all of our options to us clearly and made sure we were happy with what we were getting. We had a number of guests with nut and gluten allergies, and we were assured their bakery takes these issues very seriously. We felt comfortable serving these products to our friends and family with dietary restrictions. As a bonus - we get a complementary dessert for our one year anniversary so we didn't have to worry about freezing part of our cake! I'm already excited to see them next year.(I will upload photos of the cake when I get them from the photographer)
Kate G: Highly recommend Terri’s Cakes if you have any upcoming special events! I live far away and needed to organize a special delivery for my friends’ virtual baby shower (mom and dad live in Detroit, but the rest of us are geographically distributed). The team at Terri’s Cakes was easy to communicate with, helped me pick out some special decorations for the occasion, and the delivery was perfect. Mom and dad enjoyed the surprise - thank you!
Patricia Slone: I am so happy with Terri's Cakes Detroit. She is exceptional at customer service and her chocolate vegan cupcakes were delicious!I live out of state and wanted to send my son some vegan cupcakes to celebrate the day. They were delivered with a smile on the date requested. My son loved them!!Terri and her staff our awesome!!!Terri’s Cakes Detroit did it again!!! You made my sons day with your vegan cupcakes. Khalia Damali: We were recommended by a friend who placed an order for a birthday party and had amazing reviews. Communication was prompt and professional. Our cupcakes and cookies came in the perfect packaging, tasted delicious and arrived timely despite power issues they had the night before our event. Would definitely order for future events.
Sarah Gibson: Soooo impressed with the cake and cupcakes we ordered for our Harry Potter themed party! The custom toppers were an awesome touch, everything looked so perfect and tasted even better. We had a happy 10 year old and would order again in a heartbeat!
Rasheda Bey: I can’t say enough about Terri’s cake the first time I didn’t allow enough time but Terri still accommodated me. I live out of town and I must say after that type of customer service; I will always use Terri’s cake. I used this bakery for both of my nieces and they were so excited the way the glam cupcakes were decorated would make any girl feel special. Terri has a way with adding her touches and designing cakes to be unique!!! I especially love that they delivered the cakes that’s what you call running a business!!! Thank you
Nia J: For my mother's birthday I had a specific vision and Terri's Cakes presented the moistest, undeniable flavored pineapple upside down cupcake I ever had. She cares a lot about details, the presentation, and the delivery experience. I still can't get over how scrumptious those cupcakes were, definitely left an unforgettable taste in my mouth.
Ashley Barnes: It’s been a year since my wedding and people are still raving about the cake! We’ve ordered Terri’s Cakes several times now and they’ve never disappointed! Lots of flavors to choose from but it’s impossible to choose since they all taste so good. Would definitely recommend!

Rigoberto Hernandez: German chocolate wss good and a couple pieces of brownie. A little expensive $13.00 them girls working there seem with an attitude. 🤔
audiaux: Good cubano sandwich. Coffee is okay if it isn't made by a teenager. Long wait times for prepared food and can't call in an order. It seems they don't have the service aspect nailed down which is a shame since this place is very conveniently located and if they just worked out how to effectively take care of orders it would go a long way

Milano Bakery and Cafe: what do users think?
J. B.: I was really excited to try this bakery given the reviews. I was disappointed with everything I had, and I tried multiple things. I got a breakfast sandwich and a loaf of italian bread and they were OK. The breakfast sandwich was just kind of dry. The Italian loaf was nice and squishy but didn't have the flavor I was looking for. I also purchased a cannoli, a mini pineapple upside down cake and a chocolate chip cookie of some sort and I think something else. Regardless I honestly didn't like any of it, especially the pineapple upside down cake which had a weird smell and taste. They have plenty of other things, so if you go, try things other than what I got! That's the only suggestion I have for you.
khalil elara: my wife and i been going to saad meat market for more than a year now every time we stop for coffee and muffin staff are very friendly and helpful clean place i am going over there again when they reopen
Steve Gluskin: Great pastriesThe lemon cookies (when they have them) are delicious. I hope they open the cafe again soon
Dwight J Brown: Average dessert, got three different types, Over priced!
Tyneta Elliott: Friendly staff, fresh tasty baked goods.
Crystal Bryant: Every dessert, pastry and soup I’ve consumed from Milano’s for many years has been top notch. I’m sad to hear of their closing.
PinkLady 555: Very good baked goods great for fresh breads and danish rolls lots of cookies and sliced cakes even pies and they have a good lunch menu of sandwiches and soups. But they will be closed starting Jan 16th they are going to be doing renovations so hurry and get your goodie Now
Robert Mason: Awesome find! Friendly staff, reasonable prices, fast service & yummy products!!!
Maurice Adoranti: Great deserts.
camille martin: The fresh bread smells great. Nice lunch spot.
Shannon Black: So many choices. Very good customer service. The sandwiches are outstanding. I really enjoyed all of the baked goods that I've purchased over the years. My only gripe is that the croissants aren't buttery enough and are very dry. Other than that, I highly recommend Milano Bakery and Cafe.
Sherry Berry: Milano had a sign stating a discount on the pound cakes for $10 bucks. They failed to mention that the cakes were 4 days old. The cake was dry as the desert. Money wasted. Expressed my complaint & the lady seemed not to care one way or another....
D Davis: Went to get soup and sandwich for late lunch...the soups are very tasty. The turkey and/or ham and cheese criossants are so fresh. The baked good are excellent. Can't wait to go back for more soup. Just make sure you've got the right order..it can be very busy at the counter!!
james h.: 1/2 sandwich three bites and done 6.00 for three bites not happy
Sheree Woods: Never disappointed with service or food
Alissa Middendorf: What a fun place to stop for treats! So many goodies to choose from! Yum!
Why “DetroitGirlsHustleHarder” Williams: Great place to eat buy cakes, slices etc. Plus you can order cakes thy donot accept EBT
MasonCop: It's a good place to get food in the area, the staff is helpful, and the parking is great. Unfortunately sometimes I get a stale piece of cake of something less than perfect. Best to stick with the stuff they sell a lot of.
thomas marcetti: Good quality. No crusty Italian peasant bread but good Americanised bread
Rick Wade: They have the best sandwiches and soup in the area. Also, the staff there are some of the nicest people and make you feel like family.
Kymberlyn Crowell: Not just a bakery. Good food

Avalon International Breads: what do users think?
Eric H.: I went to the new Avalon bakery today (Monday, May 22) that's now inside the jolly pumpkin restaurant. I always enjoyed their breads when they were on Willy's and I wanted to support the new business location. I returned home to make lunch and the first bite I could tell right away this was old bread. Upon, checking the package, the stickerd date was "05 16 23", six days old! It's a shame because the old bakery was really awesome and now they resorted to selling week old bread. I will not return and spend my money at this bakery again. I highly recommend going to Whole Foods, the bread is made daily and you know what you're buying when you go there. You never have to worry about Whole Foods selling you 6 day old bread.
lindsay nehra: My family really enjoys this place. Every week! The staff is great, the food is great and the atmosphere is fantastic!
huda s: They charged $1.25 extra to sweeten my drink but did not add any sweetener. The matcha was bland in taste, and chalky in texture, basically just a bunch of powder sitting at the bottom of the cup. They did not whisk it at all, just topped it with milk. Not sure how the coffee is but given they do not whisk matcha, they probably don’t brew coffee correctly either.
Zack Ostin: I have yet to get anything from Avalon that wasn’t incredible.
Matt Tucker: I got the bacon cheddar biscuit. It was delicious but really expensive for the tiny item. $10 plus tax and tip for a biscuit should definitely include a side or else the price should be lowered. It’s obvious who the target crowd is, unfortunately not the average Detroiter like myself.
Dshaun Stephens: Great smells, great service, on time on task on a mission .
David Martin: Bad service.
Theresa Smith: Delicious, homemade breads and pastries. You can taste the quality. Nothing is too sweet or artificially sweet. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Stuart Harrell: I was in the Wayne State University area and stopped in to check out their baked goods and tee shirts.
Deborah Bohn: Best darn Thanksgiving Day gift was for those employees to be open after the parade. Loved the muffins. The decor reminded me a lot of Roos Roast in Ann Arbor.
Paula Sandy: We were in town for the Thanksgiving Day football game (Go Bills) and stumbled upon Avalon on Woodward. The breakfast pizza, chicken sausage egg sandwich and drinks were so good, we were still talking about the food a few hours later. Super friendly service too! Highly recommend!
Dylan: Nothing like the breads at Avalon locally, and I'd argue their breakfast sandwiches are in the running for best around too
James Smith: Didn't get order in
Ann Houston: I couldn't say enough about this place. My favorite coffee and wonderful baked goods. Been going since they opened.A must stop anytime I'm downtown. ❤️
Simon Appler: Chill location, great food!
Doug Gordon: Good place to enjoy coffee and conversation
Jim “What's Cooking” Minock: Stopped in while on a tour to pickup some salted chocolate chip cookies. I also ordered a cappuccino. The coffee drink was amazing, one of the best cappuccinos I have had in a long time. If you think the big boys do it right, try Avalon and you will become a believer. And don't forget the cookies, it's a treat you will talk about for a long time.
logeswari neelakandan: Almond croissants! What can I say. They are the best .
Abner Wigglestaff: Best bread shop I've ever been to!
Tom Emm: Bakery on premisesCroissant and much more
Deborah Gilchrist: Great shop! Delicious coffee & wonderful food!

Ochre Bakery: what do users think?
tom emm: Fresh baked pastry.Likely Detroit's best.
Marichelle Tamsitt: good service good place
Joe Hakim: Incredible quality. Baked goods are unique and taste wonderful. The stone ground mustard and Comte fougasse was also fantastic.
Whitney Miller: These croissants are the only food I have ever stood in a long line for. It's worth it. They are amazing. Everything is delicious and so beautiful. Staff is warm and welcoming.
eileen: BEST. BAKERY. EVER. I'm obsessed with their fouggase and mushroom pate vegan sandwich. Literally every pastry I've ever had here was delicious. Highlights include the bear claw, vegan pistachio lemon cake, almond croissant - I could gush forever but I'll stop here 🙃A must try if you're visiting Detroit or if you live here and have never been - what are you waiting for?! 🥖🥐🥪🍪✨
Catherine King: Delightful as always! I was extremely happy to have had fresh bread from here for sandwiches for the week.I also very much enjoyed the croissant toast -- do not miss it if it is there when you visit!
Jennifer: The sesame cloud loaf is so good. I got there near closing on a snowy Friday afternoon and had plenty of options to choose from—the savory croissant thingy was good as well. Will definitely be back
Naga Peddibhotla: A must stop on a trip to Detroit!!
Zahra Alzayad: The best bakery in town! I tried many baguettes croissants pastries but never had anything like theirs! The sourdough baguette is amazing I’ll be there every week to get some and today I tried the cardamom bun all I can say is wow! Definitely worth every penny!
Lisa John: Neat place. Nice outdoor seating area. Must try their croissants.
Paul Hue: Ochre is as good as it gets. One of the best bakeries in the country. Today I spent $75 on goods to take home, and was happy to support a local independent food operation that is serious about ethical, healthful ingredients and ethical, healthful relationships with employees.BUT: I want to register my disappointment in Ochre embrace of Big Pharm’s Covid hysteriaMany of us who value natural-based health — including food, medicine, and other lifestyle choices — reject the pharmaceutical-based approach to managing health challenges, including infectious pathogens such as viruses. Requiring that employees and customers impede their life-sustaining, immune-boosting respiration with antisocial masking, and other related antisocial measures such as banning indoor dining, presumes that the only effective defense against microbial infection is to defy natural living via antisocial behaviors, throttling international economics —which widens the wealth gap at the expense of the most vulnerable — and embracing artificial chemical injections devised by the same profit-mad mega corporations who denature our food supply and befoul our land and waterways.Eating the sorts of natural food produced by Ochre, and supplementing with natural products, are among the non-toxic methods of boosting immunity and drastically improving survivability from infection by any microbe. No study shows that any vaccine is more effective at protecting people against any microbial infection than a lifestyle premised on natural foods and supplementation.Ochre disappoints me by embracing the Big Pharm approach to managing microbial infection, by going further than what the Pharm-funded government officials currently require. Fear of viruses should be an opportunity for businesses such Ochre to promote their products as an important component to boosting immunity and protecting against viral susceptibility, rather than voluntarily throttling their business with restrictive rules such as banning indoor dining, limiting attendance, and requiring antisocial masking that restricts respiration.I encourage the owners and managers of Ochre to reconsider their acquiescence to Big Pharm’s campaign to position itself as the only way for people to protect themselves from viral infections.Thank you, and I hope to the hilt that Ochre survives Big Business’ Covid-based campaign to kill off local independent commerce and make us all dependent upon their high-profit, unnatural, wealth gap-widening solutions.
Anna Kate Davis: Best. Sourdough. Of. All. Time.Seriously, pick up a few loaves and also snag a chorizo sandwich (on the sourdough). Also grab an almond croissant or a ricotta croissant toast. Both are DIVINE. If you’re looking to get a cinnamon bun make sure you get there right before they open because those babies sell out fast and there’s usually a line out the door.
Ranger Rick: Excellent, quality bread and pastry. However, for $8 a loaf I would expect them to be able to slice the bread too. And I wish they had some variety with their bread
Jeremy Davis: Amazing food with pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff
Ko Melina: Ochre Bakery is amazing. Coffee is from Astro and it's hands down the best. The food, pastries and baked goods are to die for! Some of the pastries are vegan but you'd never know it. Words cannot express how wonderful Ochre Bakery is so do yourself a favor and make a visit!
karl perpignon: The food is always amazing. I just had their Roasted cauliflower sandwich and it blew my mind. Highly recommend.
Allison Schick: An absolutely amazing bakery! Their croissants are probably the best I’ve had outside of France and the fresh bread is always outstanding. The shop is also adorable and the staff are so kind. Just a lovely establishment overall 3
M Kesli: Wonderful friendly staff and a relaxing and pleasant place to enjoy your food! Came on a Sunday afternoon and had ice teas and the vegan almond cakes - one orange and one strawberry and the poppy seed short bread in the beautiful garden. Bought an almond loaf to take home. Definitely recommend as a place to hang out, reflect or finish some work.
Alison Nesbitt: bakeries can be a sad place for those eating gluten free...BUT not here! When I stopped in there were two gf options, I elected to try the brownie which was fudgy, solid and delish! The outdoor space enhances the experience. What a great space to relax and enjoy the weather. Dog friendly and bike racks available too!
George Richardson: A neat little down to earth place. A must go to when visiting the Motor City, or even for just a little getaway from the Suburbs.
Jason White: Man o man all.i can say worth wait for cinammon rolls

Sister Pie: what do users think?
Nylah Mccoy: Hair in cookies and is nasty
Brandon Kleiman: Delicious!!!!
Luisa Schumacher: Incredible pie... my favorite tho is the focaccia, they don't have it all the time, but when the do - go for it! Little tables outside to enjoy your bite.
Steph Watkins: The only choice was Chess pie. We’ve never had Chess pie and frankly a little unsure about it. But MAN was it good! So glad we stopped in!
kerby hickman: So happy they have a gf cookie!
Doron Jones: They need to expamd their space. The food is spectacular but the crowds are daunting and its a mad rush to get something before they run out.
Andrew Swinford: Loved the feel of the bakery! I had a black bean and sweet potato meat pie, a cheddar jalapeño cornmeal sconce and a slice of salted maple pie. The meat pie was savory and the crust was flaky delicious. The sconce had surprising stability while still being cornmeal. The pie was delicious. That's it's superlative. My only regret was not trying other pies! Will return to correct that regret!
Brieanne Mirjah D'Souza: I love the hand pies and pistachio rose cookies
Lisa Schram: I hesitate to give two stars. Walked into an empty bakery. The first time we tried, they weren't open, this time open, but no baked goods. Poor customer service. Close up shop if you're really not in business anymore.
LaTonia: The peach pie is delicious.
Jessica Provoast: Wow! The BEST shortbread and cinnamon rolls I have ever had! We can't wait to go back to the Detroit area to visit here again!
Cheryl Anthony: CAN YOU IMAGINE AFTER DRIVING 4+HOURS -FINDING YOUR DESTINATION CLOSED EARLIER ON SATURDAY-AFTER YOU PAID FOR AN ONLINE ORDER IN ADVANCE IT’S WRONG AT PICK UP-NO REFUND OFFERED SAME DAY-***IT’S SUNDAY AND I HAD NO GOLDEN OATMEAL RAISINS COOKIES 😩😭😡MORE STORY TO COME MONDAY…………….02/20/23 Follower up:I had to call them on my weekend disappointment (I was let know an email was sent to me) I felt like they could have at least called me on the messed up clerical error on my order 😡To long a story to give more of my breath or thoughts on- No this I will NOT be back Sister Pie! ZERO ⭐️’sI did get a refund AS I SHOULD I didn’t get product!!!
Joe Coville: Friendly and chill. Pie is good. Heads up you can’t eat in the store.
Jennifer Hoyer: I ordered a variety of cookies to share with the Henry Ford hospital, labor and delivery unit as their team really helped out my team. While I was there, I also bought two of the potato lentil curry hand pies and they were 🏼 🏼 🏼.The treats were delicious and enjoyed by all!
Antonina Strazimiri: Pros: Salted maple pie. Friendly staff.Pro & Con: Rose pistachio cookies are so intensely rose flavored...it's great at first, but after a few bites, also too much. (I have rose flavored/infused goodies I enjoy so it's not that I'm not used to the flavor or something.)Cons: Just okay pie crust, dry chocolate cookies, lumpy texture and lacking flavor of sweet beet pie.
David Kolis: Love this place! I love what they are adding to the area and their focus on contributing to their surroundings. They don't mass produce which makes them feel like you are getting something unique that you can't get anywhere else, and their offerings truly are unique. You have to check this place out!!!
Johnny Kash: Delicious sweet treats!
Doggie Scoops: Wow this was great!!!Loved everything.
Laura Brace: The absolute best!!
ROBERT Reno: If you don’t have a sweet tooth; you will find one here
Lisa Reilly: Been here many more times than I could afford but they're quality and the creative "spin" they put on their baked goods made it worth the price, until yesterday. I purchased a dozen of the Fig and Honey Shortbread cookies and was extremely disappointed. Uneadible. Very disappointed for the first time.
