Art in Motion: what do users think?
Mary Tee: Our neighborhood group had an event at Art in Motion. Kay was great, helping us with our pieces as needed. We had a blast!
Nicholas Cunningham: Kay was wonderful. Thanks for all your help!
Kia Benson: Brought my gf here for the Valentine’s Day Special and had a wonderful time. Wheel throwing was very therapeutic and such a fun experience. Ms K was very knowledgeable and charismatic. We enjoyed her colorful personality and hospitality. She is a very patient and helpful instructor. She has options for you to throw your own gathering at the studio, wheel throwing and pottery painting. 10/10, will definitely go back. Thank you for everything!
Janae Wilson: Miss Kay is amazing! No pressure, completely relaxing and a great activity for anyone (couples, friends, solo)
oatmealbrownie09: Me and my twin had our birthday gathering here yesterday. The owner is a great host. We painted pottery and we all really enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be back.
Lisa Hunt: I accidentally gave this place a low rating without even trying to rate it. In fact we had an excellent time. I took my teen girls group and they really had a great time. Especially those that got to use the spinning wheels. The owner was very sweet. She explained everything to the kids and fueled their excitement. We will be visiting again!
Jena H: Just alil small
Pinkerbelle: I really enjoyed myself. My kid also had a great time.Holidays are coming, come and create a few gifts. Great place to come for an hour of stress-free creativity. Nice way to spend an hour or 2 in the afternoon with the kids or on a date. Ms Kate offers classes. Make your own Art!
Rhonda Craig: Very popular and professional ceramics studio..I had just a wonderful experience!!!
Ashley Lightsey-Thompson (LRW): My family absolutely loves this studio!!! Such a wonderful place for learning, painting, date nights or weekend workshops!
Erika: I’ve taken two pottery classes with Mrs. Kay. One for Valentine’s Day with my partner and another with a group as a Christmas celebration. I could not recommend Art in Motion more! You don’t need any prior experience as Mrs. Kay makes sure you leave with a piece you’re proud of no matter what. Mrs. Kay is absolutely wonderful. So kind, knowledgeable and SO much fun. We will definitely be back again!
Laura Drabison: Kay is the best! She's a great teacher and has everything you need if you have an interest in pottery or sculpture. She has several class and project options for both kids and adults, beginner and open studio. Walked in off the street one day to check out her shop and came back just about every month since. Thankful to now consider her a dear friend.
Devin JB: Had an amazing time with my children at Art in Motion. Great vibes and energy!!!
Beverly Thomas: Knowledgeable in her craft. Kay provides the best possible experience that her clients schedules will allow. She provides an enriching space for all to experience. As an entrepreneur providing healthy skin and body offerings she openly shared her clientele. Gratefully appreciated!!
Jason Lang: Takes forever to get your pieces fired. Consider yourself lucky if it isn't chipped or broken. Other people try to take credit for your art.

Detroit School of Arts High School: what do users think?
Pauline Gilmore: Good
Monica Overton: DSA is a great school for young scholars. The Principle (Dr. Reynolds) is great at accomadating your specific situation. Whatever that may be, she will do what it takes to assure your child has what they need to succeed here. They focus on majors (art, broadcasting, singing, etc.) You must complete an audition and hold a certain GPA to be excepted into the school; and the kids must maintain that GPA to stay. High expectations. If you have a young talented person, who earns good grades, this is the school for them. The staff is always helpful and the lunch room is beautiful. Our experience at DSA is great so far, my daughter could not have chosen a better school. She's in her last year and although she already has enough credits to graduate, DSA allows their students to stay and keep adding to those credits. Which is great. She'll graduate with 26.5 credits. Gotta love that. As long as you're willing to work for it, Success is easy to find at DSA.
Dee: 5 stars because Aaliyah went here.
Joann Brown: I like it here Second Time Taking My Granddaughter PARIS FRANCE to Ballet Class.Picture Day today3/26/22.Bring back memories when I use to take her mother my daughter(Samara) to girl scout meetings and cheer leading classes.Had to get hair done clothes nice and clean.Thank you GOD for allowing me to be here today to see this moments.Covid-19 Survivor Twice. PROUD GRANDMA JOANN👀🙏👌🤗😍😀💖✌🎉😘 GRANDMA LOVES HER GRANDBABIES...❤💙 🤩💖👌👌🤗✌😘
Mr. J.B.: This institution is more like a family to the young minds they're shaping. I absolutely love this school. What a great place to feed the flame of our talented youth.
Breanna Polanco: I Go to DSA High School and I have Hearing loss , The school is beautiful and Awesome, and I love it, I don't like the stairs but we do have Elevator passes , The Teachers are kind so are the other students, You can also choose your choice of lunch and chargers for you to charge your PhonesThere is even Theaters, art and anything you can Imagine! Yes, there is subjects like algebra, ELA, etc. , So parents I recommend your children to visit Dsa High school! We are welcome to everyone! ACHIEVERS! (Ps. I am a Freshman at DSA!)
Mail Box: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueDon’t bring your kids here.
Mya Moe Arrington: Too many damn stairs!
Ghg Gbbbc: This school is a great school but when students have an emergency they are not understanding by any means. There was a situation on the stairs and when students tried to get help they were turned away.
ichibann dotson: This school isn’t considered a real high school to me. It’s NO sports and the education here sucks and will not prepare you for college. What I can say about it is the radio and tv program is great with cameras learning how to edit and all of that but academically and far as having a true high school experience is where it lacks.
Latavea Tillman: I go to the school now. Its amazing. The school is honestly spectacular. I couldn’t imagine going to another high school. (great food also)
Iamnijajanae: This is a good school I love it the only downfall about it is the kids
Delano Dalton: Awesomeness
Nathan Hamm: Worst school to possibly attend in the detroit area. This school has had the worst administration of any high school for the past several years. I'd never punish my kid as much as to send them to this school. Dont believe the nice comments, this school has horrible arts programs, teachers that are disrespectful to the students, and a massive amount of bullying. Every administrator is biased so dont think the code of conduct matters in any predicament. I could keep going but I'm gonna cut it short but to sum it up this school needs to hire an entirely knew staff and I would not advise for any parent to enroll their child here.
The Explorations: Worst school ever
Mykel Underwood: High School Goal is to get into here
Gregory Dalton: I attend this school and so far so good and it’s a very welcoming place and it has great staff and they also allow you to express your self in the arts
Peace: this is the best school ever the other comments about begin mean and roaches bugs are not true; the school is better than ever. i attend the school I'm graduating in 2021
Nita: Had a brief visit to the school for my daughters solo and ensemble festival performance for the district. Visit went well...no problems.
Sherisa Webb: I love to major in music and performing arts so this place sounds like a dream come true
Satavionne Hicks: Terrible and UnfortunateAfter my child's experience at this school i decided to make an online review. I give this school a rate of 1/5. This school is not what it seems to be. The staff is going to tell you that this is a great school for your child because they have a opportunity to learn their academics and perform their arts. Well it turns out that's the biggest lie in history. This school is DPS school which is one of the school with the LOWEST QUALITY LEARNING. My child started before at a straight A student and came out 9th grade year and a semester of 10th grade year as a failing student. This school is a JOKE. A JOKE. Do not send your child here. :-

Atelier School of Art: what do users think?
Rita Adamko: Just finished up a fun and throughly educational encaustic workshop at Atelier Art Studio! The studio is perfect environment for creativity and creating! Highly recommend!
The Strand Magazine: Every once in a while, you'll find a gem of a place, a place that as far as you know exists nowhere else but in your city, state or country and we are so lucky to have this cherished art center. The instructors are brilliant, patient, and mentor their students from start to finish. If you're into basics, they have you covered, realistic they have you covered, impressionists they have you covered. This is a center where you can learn you ABCs of art or take things to the next level if you're advanced. I've seen first time students create works that had my jaw drop. The building itself feels like a studio of Renoir or Hopper--in other words you have a taste of La Belle Epoque Paris in Royal Oak. And that's inspiring. Parking is never much of an issue and after art, you can grab a drink or coffee in downtown Royal Oak.I wish every single metro city had such an inspiring place which feels like the den Delacroix.
Laura Vosejpka: I had the privilege of taking a week long abstract painting workshop with Valerie Allen at Atelier this summer. The workshop, and Valerie, were outstanding, but even more importantly, this school itself is a wonderful place to learn. The environment is beautiful, full of light and well equipped. The staff go out of their way to make sure the students have what they need and were so very welcoming to us all. It was a delightful experience. I had to drive 90 miles one way to take this workshop and it was so worth it - I will definitely do it again.
Abby B: Great place for beginners and experts! The teacher brings such a positive and safe atmosphere
Donna Curran: Great studio space! Wonderful instructors, great programs and staff. The owner, Todd generously shares his knowledge in different media and techniques. There are programs specializing in different media and subject matter. Really a great opportunity to learn more about any type of art that interests you.
Oscar Rogowski: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueThe atmosphere is great, and the instructors are friendly and skilled!
Meeta Mohindra: The studio gave us community and connection during times of Covid.Great place to let creativity into your lives! And If you have never have picked up a paint brush or a drawing pencil before in your life this is a great place to begin. Check out the first time paintings in their website.I can’t say enough good things about the studio, the teachers and the friendships it helped create
Nicole Meunier: So excited for thier new space!
Paula Geiman: Excellent, gifted instructors. Nurturing, supportive learning atmosphere. Terrific student camaraderie. Both in-person and online classes are well-executed and an excellent value for your time and money. The southeast MI area is fortunate to have such a resource readily available!
Yu Huan Wang: This is a great place to learn painting. The instructors is not only great artists also great teachers. Students are friendly make this environment like a great community.
Lesley Kutinsky: Atelier studio is a wonderful studio filled with positive energy, great enthusiastic teachers and a supportive and encouraging place to create. I have been there since it opened and the director and teacher Todd Burroughs is a pleasure to be around. If you have an idea he will help you develop it into reality. The instructors on the staff are similar in personality and great teachers. I have learned so much and would encourage for anyone who is interested in becoming an artist to try out a class and see the magic that happens.Lesley Kutinsky
Michelle Victoria: I have had the privilege of being a student at Atelier Art Studio for almost a year now and have been consistently impressed with the studio, classes and educational opportunities provided. Todd, the owner is more than just an art teacher- he really has brought a community of people of all ages together who are united by a love of art and creativity. I have participated in several art classes across the Metro Detroit area and without question, Todd's studio is unparalleled in terms of an open and communicative environment. I enjoy painting and speaking with individuals of all ages- from high schoolers to retirees. Age and experience is no barrier at Atelier and I recommend this place for anyone looking to develop technique, enhance their skills, and become more familiarized about painting history and various forms of art (oils, acrylics, pastel, drawing etc). If you are a working professional, have family obligations or just in general are busy with commitments, this place has a very flexible schedule and is accommodating to your schedule. I will say, I was quite intimidated by the skill level that every student seemed to possess the first time I walked into the studio, however I quickly learned how talented Todd and the staff is at breaking down the steps at how to create a realistic painting. Techniques including color theory and underpainting were all new to me and I have been able to integrate the lessons I have learned at Atelier into my own style of painting that I do at home. The Studio Assistant, Hanna, is very warm and embracing and I look forward to seeing her, Todd, and the rest of the students at Atelier every week!
Karen Schlanderer: A great place to learn to create! With small class sizes both beginners and experienced artists get individual attention. The upbeat atmosphere is so friendly that it feels like family--everyone is supportive and encouraging. The instructors are accomplished artists, and several have taught at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit.
elizabeth cox: Outstanding instructors that teach to all levels and interests. You learn so much!Highly recommend Todd Burroughs weekly classes and looking forward to summer workshop with Vianna Szabo!!

Painting with a Twist: what do users think?
Carelis R: Amazing place and staff!! I’ve gone here a couple times and both times my group had so much fun and were so happy with our paintings (none of us are really artsy too so we were all impressed). They also do some events at the brakemen which makes it super easy to just get drinks at the bar and not have to bring your own - plus you get the brakeman atmosphere which is fun! (If you like wine they also have events at Detroit vineyards which I will definitely be checking out!)Staff was super friendly and helpful!! super patient and chill about the time it took which I really appreciated!
Heather Walker: Ravyn J was an awesome instructor. All of the paintings turned out awesome and unique to each person!
Patrice Thornton: Neo was excellent! Very patient, made us feel at ease. It was great seeing coworkers! We had a lot of fun!
Anna Leitao: Love this place! Highly recommend!
Elanda Clarke: Thank you for a Star fabulous afternoon!
Kathy Irick: It was a wonderful experience. I will absolutely be returning.
Mark Dixson: It’s a lways a great experience at this location! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and fun.
Le'Johnnese Henderson: Super fun! We had a great time and our instructor Neo was amazing. Definitely going back!
Janetta Lowman: Once again we had a blast!!!
Monique Payne: Cherish was great ! The atmosphere was cool , great music and vibes I will definitely be coming back !
Brandon Thornton: Customer service was outstanding at the Downtown Detroit location. Very fun experience. I will be going back and recommending to friends.
Paul Rhodes: I had a wonderful time at painting with a twist, Detroit . The owner, Patrice Thornton was very hospitable and professional, as was the entire staff. I would highly recommend painting with a twist. Detroit do all my friends. A great place to have a party and a wonderful time.
Jami Littlejohn: It was my first time and it was a great time! Instructor was good too!
Tequila Youngblood: The total experience was good. However, I won't be returning to this location. We had to request for our instructor (Michael Brown) to be replaced because of his unprofessional behavior. Almost ruining the birthday celebration, they replaced him with Doinis who was fun and lightened the mood.To add, the unprofessional response I received to my review further demonstrates the unprofessional behavior of those in charge as well. Cousin or not, was he at work? I paid for a service and felt unsafe in their environment. 💁🏾‍♀️My experience was not good and definitely won't be returning to this location.
Darion Wells: Good music and good vibes !! Highly recommended
Tia Williams: This was a first time experience for me. Neo was a great instructor and explained the paints, brushes, and other tools. Suggestions were offered, but I liked that we were able to work at our pace and decide on the degree of assistance. I would be up to doing this again.
Jonathan Warren: Super fun! We’ll definitely be back.
Laurelyn Willims: My husband and I really enjoyed our time at Painting with a Twist. It was his first time and our first time together. It was a very relaxing time and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be doing this again.
Jorge Vazquez: Had to cancel because I tested positive for COVID and did so with more than 72 hours in advance, which is their cancellation policy. Left a voicemail and an email and didn’t hear back from them until I contacted them again and said I would call my credit card company if this wasn’t fixed. Pretty frustrating that it took that for them to take action. When I heard back I was told that I shouldn’t be contagious anymore after only being sick for a couple days and that I should be fine. Ridiculous customer service. Won’t give this location my business.Update: Waited more than a week after they told me I’d get my money back in 2-3 business days and had to file a claim with my credit card company. So much for getting my money “on time.” I don’t doubt they have amazing teachers, but customer service is unacceptable.
Ms. Fox: Pros; Bright, roomy, and well organized space. The instructor was very talented and patient.Cons: parking.
Uchenna Ekechi: Very nice activity to be a part of. Had lots of fun. Very helpful all around

The first time I was there I had a little issue with my project and I wasn't very happy about it. Katie, the owner, reached out to me and handled the problem as professional as anyone could. The second time I received the service, fun and experience I am expecting when I go to an AR workshop. If you want to support a small local business I highly recommend going there and have a fun night out with your pals.

Katie and Staff were super knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly. We learned new skills and came away with art for our walls. The website is helpful to get ideas for what you want to do. When you’re there you get inspired with all the possibilities. Excited to book another class soon
Emily Hatfield Collias: Love AR Workshop Ferndale! The classes guide you through each step to help you create a project uniquely yours. Fun way to hang with friends while creating something new. Also love the classes and take away projects for kids!! 💚

Mini Picassos: what do users think?
Katie Murray: My husband and I had a birthday party for our 3 year old there. We did the original art party and painted pre sketched out canvases. It was great. Katy and the other girl were so sweet and helpful and were great with the kids. We had kids from ages 3-13 and all of them had a wonderful time. I will definitely going back in the future with my daughters. Please go and support these ladies!
sarah griffith: Had the best birthday party for my 5 year old. Such a cute space and the owner was wonderful with kids and provided a great experience
Anabel Hill: My 5 year old niece had a lot of fun and didn’t have to be afraid of making a mess.
Keith Ondra: Incredible staff and a blast for the kids! A great way to get the little ones away from the screens and tap into their creativity. I can't recommend it enough!!
Dana Robinson: love this place! but more importantly my kid loves this place. :)
Reima Abouarabi: Was looking for creative fun things to do with my 15 month old. Came across Mini Picasso in searching, I loved concept. What a great place spend a few great bonding hours with your children. The owner is so sweet and welcoming, so many activities to participate in. I strongly and highly recommend this place. My days photos speak for themselves!!
Alisha Myers: Love, love, love Mini Picassos. We stared with Mrs. Katy's after-school art programs and have moved to taking classes with her at the studio. All 3 of my children are now of age to do one class together and they have enjoy it. My daughter and her girl scout troop even enjoy classes here! They get to do lots of fun projects with paint, clay, dye, and so much more. I highly recommend sending your little artists to Mrs. Katy!
Heather Bendure: We used Mini Picassos for our 6 year old's superhero party and it was fantastic. Katy really made the day special and was so patient with our questions and requests. Best part of all was that we could host it at the studio! We've also been going to classes for a few years now and always come back for more. Excellent customer service, excellent experience for the kids and just an overall impressive business.

Creative Arts Studio: what do users think?
Lauren I: I just finished the 6 week wheel throwing class and it was so much fun! These are some of the pieces I have got back so far and I have 4 or 5 more pieces to pick up next week. I highly recommend this class for anyone artsy. You will definitely need to have patience- it’s not something you’ll be doing perfect the first time- but the instructors are great and very helpful. You get a lot of clay to use as well and access to all the glazes & tools you need. I will probably take the class again in the near future.
Nicole Bosca: Thank you for an awesome experience for my nieces and I! The instructor was amazing. We were there for the younger ones 7th birthday, and when she would eventually go out of lines / mix colors, she would get frustrated and turn it into an abstract piece. Our instructor encouraged her and let her use two canvasses herself so my other neice and I could finish ours which I thought was generous. But as our instructor finished her teaching piece, she gave it to my neice to touch up so she could have a unicorn painting to bring home too. I expected the lesson to be instructional, but her ability to work so well with children was above and beyond. Thank you!!!
Marissa Morrison: Did a private lesson with Michael and he was an amazing instructor. Super informative and genuine! :)
Kayla Elizabeth: So this was one of the coolest pieces of art I've ever made. I did the Wheel Throwing and the person who taught me was very good at showing me what to do and was very helpful along the way. I noticed a birthday party in the room next to me with a bunch of children and the person teaching the kids was very nice sounding and sweet with them. These people definitely know what they are doing and are very nice. I 100% recommend! (I have pictures below of the bowl I made!)
Keith Mandell: Great time. In a great area
Ashley B: From what I heard they had the best selection of ceramics to pick from and paint and they did not lie! This is a cool little spot to really get creative and learn a new skill like pottery, glass fusing, or even canvas painting and ceramic paintings of course. Me and two friends went and learned how to make a bowl and got to paint it at the end. An experience I recommend it was such a relaxing and yet fun experience with our instructor Ben who was so nice as he guided us through the class. There is something for everyone even the little ones! In fact there was a table with kids painting ceramics when I first arrived! They have everything you need to create something unique and special. I look forward to visiting more often and with the kids.
Andrew Handal: Fun to do but poor results. We were told that they would cut off/modify the bottom of one bowl and they never did leaving it in a weird shape. For the other one that turned into more of a plate, it cracked a lot on the inner rim and wasn’t even filled by anything. Just a cracked, unusable plate now. Kind of feels like we got sold a broken product lol. If it’s finished and looks fine and then cracks when they’re responsible for it it feels kind of weird that it becomes our problem to deal with an unusable plate lol.
Savanna Vo: I had a great time with my friends. Our instructor, Ben, was very kind and did an amazing job demonstrating how to make the bowls. The customer service was also great. I would definitely recommend going, it was a very fun experience
Kylie Newman: This is one of my favorite places in the area for crafty things. I tend to go once a month at minimum. I find the staff are always very clear about pricing, length of time it takes for projects to be ready, and instructions for the project. They are significantly busier this year than they were at the same time last year. At this point in time I highly recommend making a reservation for the weekends.Comments for the studio:All the staff are amazing! Everyone is incredibly friendly and patient. When are you guys going to expand? 😝I want to keep showing off this gem!
Jessica “Jade” M: My husband and I did the wheel throwing class. It was surprisingly fun and relaxing. It was also reasonably priced. It took a few weeks to get the finished product but we love the bowls we made. This place offers a lot of other ways to be creative so check them out.
Keisha “Keisha” E: This place is awesome! Located in Royal Oak, Mi. If you’re looking for something different to do. This is perfect. Perfect for kids, a date, family outing, the elderly, date night or a solo trip. Painting is very therapeutic and can be a stress reliever. You pick your item to paint off one of the tables or shelves. Whatever price that’s on it that’s what you pay for. Item prices range from $13-$200. It’s also a studio fee. They have plenty of colors to choose from. They offer walk in projects wish include pottery painting, mosaics and glass fusing. They also have appointment only projects. Which include canvas painting, wheel throwing and wood board pallet painting. They also have a party room you can rent. Although they do take walk-ins. It’s small inside so it’s best to make reservations. You have to leave your item and pick it up in 2 weeks. Because it has to be set. They have Art Kits To Go that can be delivered or you can do Curbside Pickup. They are open Monday – Friday: 11:00 am – 8:00 pm. Saturday: 11:00 am – 9:00 pm and Sunday: 12:00 – 6:00 pm.
Mariam N: Great experience! 1 hour private wheel throwing session with BenWe can’t wait to see our final results!
Sita Sita: Excellent atmosphere and lots of options to explore your creativity
Grdgory Truskowski: Nice place, parking a challenge
Megan McKenna: Our party of 5 made reservations for the 1 hour wheel throwing class. We had a fantastic experience. Emma was our instructor and could not have been more patient with us! We were all new to this and had no idea what we were doing. She was able to guide us and help each one of us as needed. We laughed the entire time and had a blast. Emma deserves a million stars. We were each able to make wonderful pieces! We would love to come back and have her be our instructor for the 6 week class! We’ve been raving about our day since we left. We’re looking forward to our next experience with your studio.
Kelli Thomas: We had a lot of fun! Hardest part was picking out what we were going to paint! Definitely going again.
Conise Curry: Was one of my fav places until I went back to get my two pieces and they where no longer there! Like what did y’all do with it? I literally called 2 weeks ago to see if my pieces was still there I was told yea, drive there and Nothg, they didn’t even compensate me like whatttt.
Niles Larson: Fantastic staff and great experience!
Media One: First time here came out with the wife will definitely come back. Didn't take any pictures cuz I was too busy getting f***** up. Have a great night everyone
Joseph Michael Pellerito Jr.: This is one of the truly unique places in Metro Detroit where you can work with amazing professionals, such as Rachel, and create your own three dimensional art and family keepsake!
Mark Sobolewski: Took 3/6 of the intro wheel throwing. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with clay for the first time, but beyond learning to center and some tool basics, it really felt more like open studio time, and not like much of a directed class. I wish we would have had a little more consistency with who was leading the class, and planned projects. I had no idea what to make or how to make it. If we were all working on creating the same objects there would be more opportunity for everyone to learn. I felt a bit lost and stopped attending. Definitely think the class sizes should be smaller.
