Detroit School of Arts High School: what do users think?
Pauline Gilmore: Good
Monica Overton: DSA is a great school for young scholars. The Principle (Dr. Reynolds) is great at accomadating your specific situation. Whatever that may be, she will do what it takes to assure your child has what they need to succeed here. They focus on majors (art, broadcasting, singing, etc.) You must complete an audition and hold a certain GPA to be excepted into the school; and the kids must maintain that GPA to stay. High expectations. If you have a young talented person, who earns good grades, this is the school for them. The staff is always helpful and the lunch room is beautiful. Our experience at DSA is great so far, my daughter could not have chosen a better school. She's in her last year and although she already has enough credits to graduate, DSA allows their students to stay and keep adding to those credits. Which is great. She'll graduate with 26.5 credits. Gotta love that. As long as you're willing to work for it, Success is easy to find at DSA.
Dee: 5 stars because Aaliyah went here.
Joann Brown: I like it here Second Time Taking My Granddaughter PARIS FRANCE to Ballet Class.Picture Day today3/26/22.Bring back memories when I use to take her mother my daughter(Samara) to girl scout meetings and cheer leading classes.Had to get hair done clothes nice and clean.Thank you GOD for allowing me to be here today to see this moments.Covid-19 Survivor Twice. PROUD GRANDMA JOANN👀🙏👌🤗😍😀💖✌🎉😘 GRANDMA LOVES HER GRANDBABIES...❤💙 🤩💖👌👌🤗✌😘
Mr. J.B.: This institution is more like a family to the young minds they're shaping. I absolutely love this school. What a great place to feed the flame of our talented youth.
Breanna Polanco: I Go to DSA High School and I have Hearing loss , The school is beautiful and Awesome, and I love it, I don't like the stairs but we do have Elevator passes , The Teachers are kind so are the other students, You can also choose your choice of lunch and chargers for you to charge your PhonesThere is even Theaters, art and anything you can Imagine! Yes, there is subjects like algebra, ELA, etc. , So parents I recommend your children to visit Dsa High school! We are welcome to everyone! ACHIEVERS! (Ps. I am a Freshman at DSA!)
Mail Box: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueDon’t bring your kids here.
Mya Moe Arrington: Too many damn stairs!
Ghg Gbbbc: This school is a great school but when students have an emergency they are not understanding by any means. There was a situation on the stairs and when students tried to get help they were turned away.
ichibann dotson: This school isn’t considered a real high school to me. It’s NO sports and the education here sucks and will not prepare you for college. What I can say about it is the radio and tv program is great with cameras learning how to edit and all of that but academically and far as having a true high school experience is where it lacks.
Latavea Tillman: I go to the school now. Its amazing. The school is honestly spectacular. I couldn’t imagine going to another high school. (great food also)
Iamnijajanae: This is a good school I love it the only downfall about it is the kids
Delano Dalton: Awesomeness
Nathan Hamm: Worst school to possibly attend in the detroit area. This school has had the worst administration of any high school for the past several years. I'd never punish my kid as much as to send them to this school. Dont believe the nice comments, this school has horrible arts programs, teachers that are disrespectful to the students, and a massive amount of bullying. Every administrator is biased so dont think the code of conduct matters in any predicament. I could keep going but I'm gonna cut it short but to sum it up this school needs to hire an entirely knew staff and I would not advise for any parent to enroll their child here.
The Explorations: Worst school ever
Mykel Underwood: High School Goal is to get into here
Gregory Dalton: I attend this school and so far so good and it’s a very welcoming place and it has great staff and they also allow you to express your self in the arts
Peace: this is the best school ever the other comments about begin mean and roaches bugs are not true; the school is better than ever. i attend the school I'm graduating in 2021
Nita: Had a brief visit to the school for my daughters solo and ensemble festival performance for the district. Visit went well...no problems.
Sherisa Webb: I love to major in music and performing arts so this place sounds like a dream come true
Satavionne Hicks: Terrible and UnfortunateAfter my child's experience at this school i decided to make an online review. I give this school a rate of 1/5. This school is not what it seems to be. The staff is going to tell you that this is a great school for your child because they have a opportunity to learn their academics and perform their arts. Well it turns out that's the biggest lie in history. This school is DPS school which is one of the school with the LOWEST QUALITY LEARNING. My child started before at a straight A student and came out 9th grade year and a semester of 10th grade year as a failing student. This school is a JOKE. A JOKE. Do not send your child here. :-

Atelier School of Art: what do users think?
Rita Adamko: Just finished up a fun and throughly educational encaustic workshop at Atelier Art Studio! The studio is perfect environment for creativity and creating! Highly recommend!
The Strand Magazine: Every once in a while, you'll find a gem of a place, a place that as far as you know exists nowhere else but in your city, state or country and we are so lucky to have this cherished art center. The instructors are brilliant, patient, and mentor their students from start to finish. If you're into basics, they have you covered, realistic they have you covered, impressionists they have you covered. This is a center where you can learn you ABCs of art or take things to the next level if you're advanced. I've seen first time students create works that had my jaw drop. The building itself feels like a studio of Renoir or Hopper--in other words you have a taste of La Belle Epoque Paris in Royal Oak. And that's inspiring. Parking is never much of an issue and after art, you can grab a drink or coffee in downtown Royal Oak.I wish every single metro city had such an inspiring place which feels like the den Delacroix.
Laura Vosejpka: I had the privilege of taking a week long abstract painting workshop with Valerie Allen at Atelier this summer. The workshop, and Valerie, were outstanding, but even more importantly, this school itself is a wonderful place to learn. The environment is beautiful, full of light and well equipped. The staff go out of their way to make sure the students have what they need and were so very welcoming to us all. It was a delightful experience. I had to drive 90 miles one way to take this workshop and it was so worth it - I will definitely do it again.
Abby B: Great place for beginners and experts! The teacher brings such a positive and safe atmosphere
Donna Curran: Great studio space! Wonderful instructors, great programs and staff. The owner, Todd generously shares his knowledge in different media and techniques. There are programs specializing in different media and subject matter. Really a great opportunity to learn more about any type of art that interests you.
Oscar Rogowski: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueThe atmosphere is great, and the instructors are friendly and skilled!
Meeta Mohindra: The studio gave us community and connection during times of Covid.Great place to let creativity into your lives! And If you have never have picked up a paint brush or a drawing pencil before in your life this is a great place to begin. Check out the first time paintings in their website.I can’t say enough good things about the studio, the teachers and the friendships it helped create
Nicole Meunier: So excited for thier new space!
Paula Geiman: Excellent, gifted instructors. Nurturing, supportive learning atmosphere. Terrific student camaraderie. Both in-person and online classes are well-executed and an excellent value for your time and money. The southeast MI area is fortunate to have such a resource readily available!
Yu Huan Wang: This is a great place to learn painting. The instructors is not only great artists also great teachers. Students are friendly make this environment like a great community.
Lesley Kutinsky: Atelier studio is a wonderful studio filled with positive energy, great enthusiastic teachers and a supportive and encouraging place to create. I have been there since it opened and the director and teacher Todd Burroughs is a pleasure to be around. If you have an idea he will help you develop it into reality. The instructors on the staff are similar in personality and great teachers. I have learned so much and would encourage for anyone who is interested in becoming an artist to try out a class and see the magic that happens.Lesley Kutinsky
Michelle Victoria: I have had the privilege of being a student at Atelier Art Studio for almost a year now and have been consistently impressed with the studio, classes and educational opportunities provided. Todd, the owner is more than just an art teacher- he really has brought a community of people of all ages together who are united by a love of art and creativity. I have participated in several art classes across the Metro Detroit area and without question, Todd's studio is unparalleled in terms of an open and communicative environment. I enjoy painting and speaking with individuals of all ages- from high schoolers to retirees. Age and experience is no barrier at Atelier and I recommend this place for anyone looking to develop technique, enhance their skills, and become more familiarized about painting history and various forms of art (oils, acrylics, pastel, drawing etc). If you are a working professional, have family obligations or just in general are busy with commitments, this place has a very flexible schedule and is accommodating to your schedule. I will say, I was quite intimidated by the skill level that every student seemed to possess the first time I walked into the studio, however I quickly learned how talented Todd and the staff is at breaking down the steps at how to create a realistic painting. Techniques including color theory and underpainting were all new to me and I have been able to integrate the lessons I have learned at Atelier into my own style of painting that I do at home. The Studio Assistant, Hanna, is very warm and embracing and I look forward to seeing her, Todd, and the rest of the students at Atelier every week!
Karen Schlanderer: A great place to learn to create! With small class sizes both beginners and experienced artists get individual attention. The upbeat atmosphere is so friendly that it feels like family--everyone is supportive and encouraging. The instructors are accomplished artists, and several have taught at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit.
elizabeth cox: Outstanding instructors that teach to all levels and interests. You learn so much!Highly recommend Todd Burroughs weekly classes and looking forward to summer workshop with Vianna Szabo!!

Nicholas Cunningham: Kay was wonderful. Thanks for all your help!
Kia Benson: Brought my gf here for the Valentine’s Day Special and had a wonderful time. Wheel throwing was very therapeutic and such a fun experience. Ms K was very knowledgeable and charismatic. We enjoyed her colorful personality and hospitality. She is a very patient and helpful instructor. She has options for you to throw your own gathering at the studio, wheel throwing and pottery painting. 10/10, will definitely go back. Thank you for everything!
Janae Wilson: Miss Kay is amazing! No pressure, completely relaxing and a great activity for anyone (couples, friends, solo)
oatmealbrownie09: Me and my twin had our birthday gathering here yesterday. The owner is a great host. We painted pottery and we all really enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be back.
Lisa Hunt: I accidentally gave this place a low rating without even trying to rate it. In fact we had an excellent time. I took my teen girls group and they really had a great time. Especially those that got to use the spinning wheels. The owner was very sweet. She explained everything to the kids and fueled their excitement. We will be visiting again!
Jena H: Just alil small
Pinkerbelle: I really enjoyed myself. My kid also had a great time.Holidays are coming, come and create a few gifts. Great place to come for an hour of stress-free creativity. Nice way to spend an hour or 2 in the afternoon with the kids or on a date. Ms Kate offers classes. Make your own Art!
Rhonda Craig: Very popular and professional ceramics studio..I had just a wonderful experience!!!
Ashley Lightsey-Thompson (LRW): My family absolutely loves this studio!!! Such a wonderful place for learning, painting, date nights or weekend workshops!
Erika: I’ve taken two pottery classes with Mrs. Kay. One for Valentine’s Day with my partner and another with a group as a Christmas celebration. I could not recommend Art in Motion more! You don’t need any prior experience as Mrs. Kay makes sure you leave with a piece you’re proud of no matter what. Mrs. Kay is absolutely wonderful. So kind, knowledgeable and SO much fun. We will definitely be back again!
Laura Drabison: Kay is the best! She's a great teacher and has everything you need if you have an interest in pottery or sculpture. She has several class and project options for both kids and adults, beginner and open studio. Walked in off the street one day to check out her shop and came back just about every month since. Thankful to now consider her a dear friend.
Devin JB: Had an amazing time with my children at Art in Motion. Great vibes and energy!!!
Beverly Thomas: Knowledgeable in her craft. Kay provides the best possible experience that her clients schedules will allow. She provides an enriching space for all to experience. As an entrepreneur providing healthy skin and body offerings she openly shared her clientele. Gratefully appreciated!!
Jason Lang: Takes forever to get your pieces fired. Consider yourself lucky if it isn't chipped or broken. Other people try to take credit for your art.
