The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company: what do users think?
Sharvil Patankar: Terrible treatment of their workers. Terrible leadership. They would rather close their stores than unionize their workforce.
Tahleez Bartels: One of the secret, pure delights hidden along Woodward AVE.This is a café that I would regularly visit on my weekends. I've enjoyed minutes to hours of conversation, studying, and writing while admiring the quaint esthetic that this shop has to offer. The interior has a bucolic vibe joined with a hipster, concert, after-show feel. The tables and floor are primarily made out of wood, but the walls are brick. Sitting in the room itself is calming, almost like drinking coffee in a window sill on a sun-lit morning. The Staff have always been kind to me. They are friendly and unafraid of questions and small conversations. My only complaint is that when they call out orders, I at times fail to hear them, and my drink will be sitting at the counter for quite some time, but this has only happened once or twice.I have had a little of everything in terms of their menu. Both their savory and sweet options are beyond delectable. Their sandwiches are large in portions and delicious. Their Coffee is rich and sweet. My personal favorite dessert will always be an affogato, but just about every option has been/will be enjoyable. The price is a bit high for the amount of coffee you receive, and I would even go as far as saying the food is in the same boat. I enjoy both non the less, and don't mind paying a bit more for the quality of food.I would advise the coffee lovers and the interior admirers of the Detroit area to come and visit The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company. I would recommend this café for morning breakfasts, casual lunches, day-time dates, or simple alone time for studying/relaxing throughout the day.
clifford konstans: Just not a vibe
me myself: Too bad they're closed. The idiots who are protesting this place. Keep pressing on.
Andrew Spaulding: Used to be a great coffee shop, but the quality of employees went down drastically over the past couple years. They should fire everyone, hire new staff, and reopen!
Steven Long (Scuba Steve): A business shouldn't exist if it can't treat their employees with respect and pay a living wage!
Grace B: unfair to workers
Pierre Letourneau: Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: Yes Takeout: Yes Delivery: YesMore
Brandon Slaugher: A very uninviting place for non white people. Terrible food, but great coffee. If only people of color weren't treated so badly by the employees. I personally was assumed to be a homeless person by the cashier for being brown and wearing a winter coat? This place is not good for Detroit or its citizens and it is my hope that they'll close their doors very soon and go somewhere else so they can stop ruining our city's culture. Also, who eats unsalted avocado? Terrible, terrible, place.
Don Copolla: I caught covid in their establishment due to them making their workers work while they are sick. Dont go here.
Natasha Jaffar: beware!!! they have been forcing employees with covid to work at their locations!!!
Marianne Gendron: This company doesn't care about their customers and workers health condition. Not a safe place.
abbie ward: This company doesn't care about their workers.

Lisa Eldredge: Great coffee! Nice atmosphere, study customers in and out.
Keyona B: Awesome and cozy atmosphere
Paige Cook: Baristas are on point! They were kind and helpful, and even had suggestions cause I was so obviously new and overwhelmed. I even found myself chatting with the barista making my drinks while I was waiting, and that felt like it cu wait time in half! I honestly cannot wait to go back and have another perfectly made coffee, thank you!!

Leonardo D.: Right at the heart of Downtown, Madcap serves some of the best coffee in the Metro area. Originally from Grand Rapids, I consider them one of the specialty coffee authorities in the state of Michigan. Any coffee drink you may think of will be nicely produced. The spot is very bright and spacious, with ample standing bars; so don't think this will be the coffee shop you can come and station for hours to work remotely. However, in the summer they have seating outside on the alley. Surrounded by the Shinola hotel, the newly opened Gucci store, Queens bar, and more you'll sure be in for cool people watching. A must check in when in town!

The service is always very personable as well, will be returning!Parking: Found parking around the corner!

Stella Good Coffee: what do users think?
Natalie Unger: One of the most delicious pour over coffees I’ve ever tasted.
Øystein Hafstad Bang: Amazing coffee in spectacular circumstances!
Laith Ejeilat: Update:The vibe of this place is so chill and calming. It's cozy, the music is always soothing, and the coffee is consistently so good. I absolutely love their sugar-free caramel latte. Their team (Glenn and Mekka) are also kind, calm, and chill. I love this place.Update: they are one of the few places that offer the sugar-free caramel flavor to add to a latte, and I love it. Their lattes are delicious.First time impression: this place is a hidden treasure! A great coffee shop offering very pleasant coffee including pour over. One of the two kind baristas, Mecca, told me their beans are from Cadillac Roasters.Despite having a small footprint, they have a cute little variety of seating options, and the music is some form of upbeat jazz; all within the scope of cozy and delightful.
Morgan Shatz: Great dirty Chai!
A P: This is a hidden gem in the New Center area. Long time friendly staff who take pride in their coffee and service. Pour over is made fresh for you while you wait. Nice sitting area inside the beautiful Fisher Building.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Elizabeth Darwish: Great coffee, friendly people, lovely baked goods to go with coffee. Beautiful art deco surroundings.
Cody Hansen: It is always a pleasure to stop down for coffee at Stella’s! The coffee itself is brewed just right and the flavor is better than I can make at home with my own beans. I should mention I work in the fisher and have been visiting this coffee shop for over 5 years
Fourteen Forty: Great coffee, beautiful setting, a must try!
Kai Daniels: Braista is one of the best in the city! Try the Chai Latte if you don't believe me ;)
Colleen E: We've had some of the best coffee in WA and this place was fantastic. Also, very nice and kind staff.
Will Behrick: Cool coffee spot inside the Fisher Bldg. Tasty drinks, friendly staff with seating inside and out.Check out the shelf across from counter while you wait for your brewed-to-order coffee for a variety of items to purchase. Not my first visit and won't be the last.
Farah Fadel: Love their pour over! And the barista is so friendly and knowledgeable
kaje.jasper fragz: best chai latte around
Noah: Wonderful friendly staff and great coffee!
ammy fisher: Come on how hard is it to update your website to say that you’re closed. Paid for parking walked in your building to find out that you haven’t been open in months
R. DaNell: Great cup of coffee!
John Armstrong: Delicious authentic food, served hot, promptly and with a gracious smile. Pricing is reasonable.
H Liu: Good pour over coffee. Try the Michigan Cherry on a cold winter day, will not disappoint.
Glesdia Odom: Great coffee fast service
Sandy Pace: First off, I would not have given any stars but would not let me leave a review without at least 1 star. So, we decided to try Stella Good Coffee inside the Fisher Building this afternoon, excited to try yet another coffee shop. We walked in and that is where it quickly plunged downhill. The employee who was behind the counter (who did not greet us warmly, let alone at all), will be the reason I will never be back. She was very cold and had absolutely no customer service in her DNA. I went in with a great attitude and left wondering why this coffee shop would employ such a person with no personality whatsoever. Coffee shop people are usually very friendly and happy...not her. I don't like leaving bad reviews and I always try to make a bad situation good (giving the benefit of the doubt), but this employee never even attempted to redeem herself. She did, however, provide me with a blank stare as I was trying to make conversation...very awkward and uncomfortable, to say the least.
Chris Jackson: Great space inside the fisher building but that’s where it stops. Service is average at best, pour over is quick and no attention to detail. Decent tasting coffee but I personally think with more love in every cup this place could be so much better.

An angry long haired barista came over to the bathroom door and told us to “get out” and threatened to call the police. anastasios zaharias: I liked this inclusive spot to grab a coffee—and usually a great atmosphere. However, on this occasion, with out-of-town friends with small children, we went in for the mother to feed her infant child and grab some coffee to warm up. After ordering a coffee, the child was fussy and crying. This is when the staff approached us and asked us to leave because the crying baby bothered other customers that were studying. We were also paying customers and were in there for ten minutes, plus we were not going to stay long. To tell a mother that she needed to leave because of her crying baby is unbelievable! I will not steer any out-of-town guests to this coffee house ever again, and they lost me as a customer. I have lived in the city for over 15 years and used to like going here never again.Students studying usually grab one coffee and take a spot for hours on end using the internet. Excellent customer service to push out paying customers because a mother has a crying baby. Noninclusive establishment.
Varun Suri: Got the vanilla oat-milk latte; not too bad! I’ll probably be back to try other flavored lattes. Shop could be a little more clean, but provided the coffee shops vibes we were in the mood for!Recommended dishes Rose Latte …More
Batool Alabri: This coffee shop was one of my favorites. I have been coming almost every day, but a woman working there with short hair and glasses is always disrespectful to me. She doesn’t even smile, and I didn't even do anything wrong to her. She got bored because I see her every day. Also, her face always changes from that of a good to a bad person when she sees me. I won’t support this coffee shop anymore.

Joseph CR Vourteque: Great vegan donuts
Rocky Strange: Great Donuts! Clean and Cozy!!
Jeannine Drost: These donuts are delicious! I’ll admit that I was dubious of a vegan donut, but all I taste is light, airy, and satisfying. Thanks for sharing samples with us at WeWork!
Josh Levey: Tasty vegan donuts and in-house roasted coffees. Donut selection was small but good, with 8 flavors to choose from. Lots of seating, WiFi.
Eli K: All vegan donuts!!! & coffee. The glazed vegan donuts of my dream. Comparable to non vegan glazed airiness and fluffy!Non vegan source says he couldn’t tell they were vegan.Bathroom was clean and service was kind. :)
Johanna Langlois: Awesome vegan donuts!! They were flaky and airy. Some of the best vegan donuts I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was great and the staff that was working there was super friendly and kind. The photos attached are the vegan donuts that I got.
Michael Thomas: Donuts are great, but really the shop has the most consistently solid playlist regardless of who’s at the counter. Really makes a difference when stopping to get some thinking work done.
Ivy M: We ordered paczki and it was delicious. The staff was so friendly and kind. They don’t have a phone number I could find but you can message them with questions or issues and they get back to you super quickly. I also got a cinnamon sugar donut and it’s one of the best vegan donuts I’ve ever had. And Ashe Coffee is always tasty.
Errol Monget Jr: Donuts cold and dry, lemon curd donut was high with only a little bit of filling was not worth what I paid
LiLi Sheree: I was looking for a cute spot to try out downtown with my bestie. Since I’m transitioning to vegan, this new cafe serves vegan donuts so I was intrigued. We got there later on in the day so the only donut left was the gingerbread but it was absolutely divine! I forgot to take a picture first and devoured most of it, LOL! You cannot tell it’s vegan but it’s hands down the best donut I’ve ever had! Super moist and full of flavor! I can’t wait to try their other varieties of donuts. I got an iced chai with oat milk and that was delicious, as well. Will most definitely go back.
Joel Freytag: 6 dozen for $120. The name says it all.
Edouard: These are the best donuts I've had so far in the US. Thank you!!
Diamond Green (CHOREO QUEEN): George was very nice and genuine!!!! My hot chocolate was the best ever.
Tyler Phillips: Polite staff, great coffee, and delicious donuts!
Ana Luiza: Great coffee and donuts bites!! The place has great vibes too
Karlie Eis: I was looking forward to getting coffee and a donut. The pictures made it look amazing.... they only had 4 donuts to choose from. The donut was flavorless, even with the cinnamon sugar coating. This place is a coffee place with donuts. Not a donut place. Very disappointed.
Jaqueline Caballero: Coffee is amazing 🏻
Joe Yancho: An excellent spot in downtown Detroit for vegan donuts and coffee!I don’t eat strictly vegan, but my fiancée does, so she wanted to try out this spot. Cozy vibe, great location, good prices, and most importantly - great donuts!Honestly if you hadn’t told me they were vegan, I probably wouldn’t know any better. All of the flavors we tried were good, but the traditional glazed and the cookie crumble ones were the best. The maple and “bacon” one wasn’t my favorite.I liked this spot and would definitely recommend checking it out next time you’re in the area!
Nikunj Syngal: A unique coffee place downtown. They have nice outdoor seating where you can take your dog.
Tamara Mathis: Donuts didnt seem fresh, maybe because they were cold. Coffee was alright. There's better places just around the corner for the price point.
Jessica McQuarter: Super excellent donuts.

Michael Timofeev: A nice coffee shop with pleasant ambiance. The little breakfast egg sandwich is very tasty and they make it warm for you. Also would definitely recommend the chocolate beet tahini cake. Marvelous! The coffee on the other hand did not blow my mind. Having experienced other specialty coffee shops in the city, the pour over was good, but not as I would have expected from an Ethiopian Natural. It's still a decent coffee and together with the accompanied food and ambience - definitely worth to visit.
Mercy Servio: Every thing was great.
Leonardo D.: A Detroit institution. They roast their own coffee and make fantastic pour overs
Matthew Simmons: Great place! Give it a try!
Alex “Al”: Got the ginger lemon tea with scone. The interior is cozy but the seating can be a little improved.Dine in: Yes …More
Ben Slightom: I've been going to Astro since 2016, and I'm so happy to see it back open and better than ever. I love that they always have affordable and quality coffee options on the menu, and that the expanded bakery selection reflects the excellent work that this team put into their sister storefront Ochre. Astro remains, hands down, the best coffee shop in Corktown, even with an expanding range of fierce competition.
Matthew Brennan: Phenomenal coffee and egg sandwich
Nathaniel Miller: Cafe Royalty . The consistency has been an operational dynasty for almost a decade now .
Paige Kaliski: Best coffee ever, well made espresso drinks, all around great. If you buy beans you can get a free coffee and the beans are truly the greatest out there, highly highly highly recommend.
Tess Parr: Astro has good coffee, experienced barsitas, and a good selection of equipment/beans for home brewing. Really good egg sandwich, too. The outdoor seating area will sometimes have dogs in cute sweaters.
Paul Hue: Astro is one of the best coffeehouses in the country, and those egg biscuit sandwiches are unfairly irresistible. I have been a frequent customer since its inception in Corktown!I just wish that the owners and managers of Astro were not embracing Big Pharm’s approach to addressing the hysteria over Covid. This health crisis should be driving more people regard food choices as a method of protecting immunity and improving immune performance, rather than relying on the pharmaceutical option, with its premise on antisocial behavior and centrally mandated economic recession. These Big Pharm companies are, after all, the same nefarious players who poison our crops and pump our livestock with their artificial chemicals, which end up fouling our lands and waterways, and even the bodies of those who consume pharmaceutical-based food, which includes most Americans.I encourage the owners and managers of Astro to reconsider their support for this Big Business initiative that ultimately harms local, independent operations like Astro Coffee, while bolstering gargantuan chains such as Starbucks. There is an effective alternative to reducing Covid fatalities besides economic suicide at the selective expense of the most vulnerable (including not only the lowest-income individuals, but the must ethical businesses, such as Astro) and the attending Big Pharm vaccines; that alternative is natural health, which includes not only herbal and vitamin supplementation, but also personal reliance of natural food producers such as Astro Coffee.Consuming the sorts of nature-based, ethical foods such as served by Astro Coffee is an integral part of boosting immunity and protecting against viral infection, as an effective alternative to the artificial chemical-based vaccine approach, which includes all the antisocial measures such as respiration inhibition with masks, limiting or ceasing indoor dining, and overall behaving as if the physical company of other humans is frightful. Please reconsider going even further than what the government requires in its promotion of Covid hysteria. Thank you.
Faham: Wish they still had indoor seating areas. Too many bugs and bees outside to eat peacefully. Also, latte with latte art on a paper cup felt sad 😔. But overall wasn’t bad. The almond croissant is amazing. I have never had a more delicious croissant in my life. The egg sandwich is also great!
Michael Schultz: Cute little place, but hard to find due to no exterior signage, save for a chalkboard easel after the open. Artisanal coffee, but not much beyond that.
Korey Thatcher: Good Vibes. Great Smell.
Max Lazard: Lovely spot for a great cup of coffee and pastries

Margarette T Gibbs: Kid-friendliness: There was seating outdoors so that the kids can run around and play and also open window seat.Parking: Well parking is up and down livernois so take your pick free parking at thatWheelchair accessibility: There was no stairs or steps to go into for this place so was wheelchair accessible the doors were wide enough and there was lots of this space for the wheelchairs to maneuver through the coffee House

HR Passion LLC (Love And Stuff): I’m a coffee lover and Narrow away is a purveyor of coffee, and all things customer service excellence! It’s so refreshing to experience the type of customer service that you can consistently count on, and delight in!David, Sabrina, Kaneese and team hit the mark every time! It’s the Americano with an extra shot of good vibes for me!
David Kevin: The coffee is decent to solid. I come here when I don’t make coffee at home because I’d rather support a business on the Avenue than others a mile or two north.I got a large black coffee. It was hot. Like very hot even with the sleeve. I asked them to double cup it. They gave me a water cups. I thought they were kidding. I asked to exchange it for the same sized cup so that it protected my hands. They said that they couldn’t do that. Ridiculous.Very easy getting double cup love elsewhere…
Praveen Loganathan: Highly recommend this coffee shop! Great music and vibes. Black owned business and Sabrina is amazing. I had an iced earl grey tea with half and half creamer. Sabrina added some honey and it was so good!!Parking: easy street parking Dietary restrictions: milk substitutes available: almond, oat milk
Sherrie Tilley: They are providing great customer service.
Thaddeus Lindsay: So nice to have a good coffee shop near campus. The mocha is so good that I haven’t gotten anything else, I just get that every time.
Mel Moeinvaziri: Friendly service, good coffee, delicious baked goods. Love the décor inside and the outdoor patio. Best coffee shop in the neighborhood for sure.
Phillip Caldwell II: The staff are excellent. Such a cool little spot on Livernois.
Elaine Tutwiler: Friend referred me to this Cafe. Excellent Iced Latti's & coffees. Plus their coffee cakes and sweets are really good.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Shawn Nolastname: I live in midtown which means I can walk to several cafés before driving is even a requirement. It requires effort on my end to waste time and several gallons of premium gas to patronize NW. I ordered my second drink of choice Vanilla Cold Brew with Oat Milk bevause this establishment doesn't severe Nitro Cold Brew. The female batista comes from the other end of the bar and with and attitude states "You know it's actual pumps of vanilla". In my mind I'm thinking clearly cold brew and vanilla are two different items on the menu. Than I proceed to say "How is that different from any other place"? She couldn't explain. Her attitude was the least desirable part of my morning. An older gentleman walked in she says "Hello mr xyz" with a smile. Keep in mind she never said hello to me before speaking. Fast forward she proceeds to prepare his drink clearly he's a regular. This is where my second issue came into play. She made his drink and severed him before pouring me NW pre package cold brew (yuck). Here energy was least desirable and why I requested a refund and proceeded to Dessert Oasis located in Capital Park area of downtown.
Beth Joy: This place is lovely! The coffee was delicious! The baked goods looked incredible, I heard numerous guests talking about their favorites. Lots of people have regular orders. They have an app with a digital punch card (who doesn't love free coffee?). The app is easy to use and you can even order ahead! I will definitely be back!Features: Masks required, hand sanitizer at the door, card/digital payments only. They were on top of sanitizing tables and surfaces inside as well.
Alberto J: Dine in: No Outdoor seating: No Takeout: YesMore
A Table For 8: Love this coffee shop in the neighborhood! Their frozen coffee drinks are a treat! You can really taste the coffee in them. I got the almond Joy freeze it tasted like the name. Will definitely be back!
