Jabs Gym Eastern Market: what do users think?
Crystal Marie: Had an amazing fitness experience at Jabs during the PattiBus. Armond brought the energy and I threw my hands to the bag. The music was on point which is a big thing for me when I'm working out! Thanks so much for the cardio and I will be back. In true Armond fashion he showed up with his shirt off 🤣🤣🤣.
D 19: The Tuesday night Kickboxing class with Sydni is right up my alley. I love the high energy music, the choreograpgy, and the black lights. I especially love her positive energy and ability to read the room. She is always sure to remind everyone that there are "No wrong moves" and to take it at your own pace. It is a great workout and anxiety release at the same time. Just signed up for my second batch of ten classes, and looking foreward to continuing over the months to come.
Mea Lee: Response to owner: First off you do offer cross training. It is indeed cross fit! I was asked by a trainer when signing in “have you ever tried cross fit and do u feel stronger?” So u tried it… second, duh I have been to the location in eastern market, otherwise I wouldn't have left a comment under this specific location if I hadn’t been there, nice try again. Also Mea lee isn’t my real name so of course u wouldn’t find it in the system 😂😂. Ur just proving my review to be accurate. You don’t get to know people personally. You guys just care about money.I started CrossFit training here. I am a beginner. Im aware nothing happens overnight. I love the workouts and how good I feel after doing them. I plan to do it three times a week. However, the trainers are not very good/helpful. Really it’s a little pricey for a 40 min class. Especially when they don’t try to get to know you, your body type, your fitness level or your diet. As a beginner… I KNOW NOTHING! I had some cramps last and I’m in so much pain/ soreness! I had to do research on my own to learn a lot about CrossFit. I feel when u join a gym the coaches should help you to improve your posture and your form. I’m not even sure if they are CrossFit certified. I felt judged my first day by all the people who are more advanced. Obviously that didn’t stop me from going but it’s crazy how when you are starting they expect you to know and follow everything that everyone else is doing. I had to take an ice bath after my second day! I’m lifting too heavy and they just watch you struggle. I’m going to keep giving it a try and if nothing improves I’ll move on.Edit: these classes aren’t personal at all. They don’t ask about your progress. It’s more like a “here, do this” type of class. It’s not a “can you do this?” type of thing if you know what I mean. You say your a beginner and their response is : “okay😁….” ….. 🚶‍♂️*trainer walks always …. 😂😂😂😂😂I’m learning a lot and nothing at the same time. It’s teaching mental toughness. It’s a challenge. I was mad today for a lot of personal reasons and it was motivating! I like it and ima be back next week.Edit: Went back realized it’s not at all what I’m looking for I need a personal experience. I made no changes physically. Honest waste of cash. These classes are for elites, not beginners.
Aylin Hot: JABS gym is the place to be! The Kickboxing class is my literal therapy session and I look forward to going to it each day no matter how tired I am. As someone who has never been very consistent with fitness, I can say that the instructors and classes at JABS have changed this for me and have motivated me. JABS has high-energy, skilled, and passionate instructors. I highly recommend it to anyone, regardless of your fitness level. Happy to continue being part of the amazing JABS family ❤️
Bryan Barnhill: I’ve been attending Jabs faithfully for several years now. I was initially drawn to Jabs because of Armond’s enthusiastic, organized, and effective stewardship of Run This Town, and believed he could translate the momentum of RTT to an extraordinary brick and mortar fitness experience. Since then my experience here has only surpassed my initial expectations. From the collegial, talented, and dedicated Jabs Gym Team (Armond, Sydni, Montrell, Jordan, Dominic, CeCe, Argy, and Mike the maintenance man) to the light-hearted atmosphere, and challenging, go-at-your-own pace classes — I can say that my experience has been more than rewarding. My fitness level (cardiovascular, endurance, and strength) has improved leaps and bounds and, what’s more, I feel like I can do more with my body than I could several years ago. More importantly, I feel like with each class, with each drop of sweat, and heavy breath, I’m improving my health and, as a result, extending the amount of time I get to spend above ground with my wife and children. What keeps me coming back, in addition to the aforementioned, is the realization that fitness is a journey where there is always room for continuous improvement. Jabs creates an inviting atmosphere that enables each person to further their own fitness journey, no matter the age, size, color, or fitness level.
Taylor Davis: I have been coming to JabsGym Eastern Market for months and I have been able to get in the best shape of my life . Armon is has great energy. Syd’s class is one of my favorites. Dome’s smiling face brings joy to my heart.#bestgymonEarth
Savannah Hill: It's rare I leave a review like this but I wanted to leave an honest review, from someone who is a boxer and fitness instructor and trainer.I took a "kickboxing" class here- this is NOT where you would go to truly learn to box. A review here says this is for elite boxers, that is definitely not the case (and thats ok)!The instructor was clear on the mic, however did not demo a single movement. There were new people in this class who had never done this- I dropped in from out of town so technically I was one of them- when you have new people you really need to take a few mins before or at the beginning of class to demo the moves. I had to watch the person next to me as if this were a dance fitness class I were just trying out.If you want to sweat, "kickbox" to the beat of the music- sure, this is for you and it can be a good workout. If you are looking for a more dedicated fitness class where you learn something, or learn to box, this would probably not be the place for you.I have not tried their crosstraining, but reading reviews I bet it's good! Seems like that is where they shine.I personally wouldn't go back, but I really could see how for some people, to learn the "choreo" of the kickboxing class and keep coming back could be exactly what they want. The staff was nice but not overly attentive, however for true newbies to your gym I'd suggest giving them more attention.
Angelina Palacios: So much fun
Jermaine Ruffin: If you're looking for great workouts with high energy, supportive trainers and members, this is the spot! Jabs is for all fitness levels, just bring you A game!
M C: Fun, high energy, quick workout that gets the job done!
Kobies Boxing: Maybe these people have a wonderful fitness program, and maybe they also have terrific martial arts training as well. But this is not a boxing gym which is what I was looking for. For they don't have a boxing ring, or aspiring boxers who are in training. But like I said before they may be great at fitness & martial arts, but not at training boxing.
Eryn Hearns: This gym is amazing! All the staff are great. The teachers have such high energy that keep me engaged and lookin forward to the next class and the customer service is great. Dom the receptionist always greets everyone and is super helpful. 10/10 would recommend.
W Gould: I really liked this place! The teaching is great and the instructors are excellent. The classes are exciting and offer me a good cardio workout. Compared to kickboxing classes at Equinox, this gym is very cost effective but still with good quality. However, the main problem is the front desk clerk, I believe his name is Domienice. He charged me $20 for a daily pass even though I had a 5 class pass that I had not used yet. I understand that simple mistakes can happen, so I didn’t make a big deal of it.However, the front desk clerk stated that he would call me after talking to the head training, but he never called me back. When I called the next evening, the same front desk person answered and hung up on me mid conversation when I asked when I could expect his return call. I called back twice and he hung up both times without answering.I cannot believe that this is the level of service that this gym offers. I really liked the gym, its programs, and instructors. However, the dysfunction and lack of professionalism in the front desk is making me reconsider if I will ever go back.
Wil Lewis: Nice place
Brian: My 2nd time showing up during business hours just to find an empty building.. the gym hours need to be changed to 9am .. serious waste of gas smh
Kamila R: Amazing Workout! Great Vibes!
Cami Purifoy: I love the energy here
rekia smiley: I love this gym! I appreciate how I feel welcomed as soon as I walk through the door.
Neethi Sri: some of the best workouts i've ever had
Andrea Pride: The Best Boxing Gym ........The Best workout ............The Best instructors ..........
Tori Lucas: Great and motivating atmosphere. The trainers are awesome and supportive. Body positivity all around.

World's Best Boxing Gym: what do users think?
infinite Thanos 39 Aboytes: Great place and perfect couch and also an exelent person
Kobies Boxing: I've never trained at this place, but I did have the pleasure of visiting this place, and meeting the owner. In which at that moment I seen many of young boxers training. And that's saying a whole lot because many of other Detroit boxing gyms that I visited are now abandoned, or they're not real boxing gyms(they're fitness centers with a martial arts trainer, and no boxing ring). So much respect to World's Best Boxing Gym.
David Mckay: Best gym ever! Great one on one training with the coach, everyone's friendly. Open to all levels of experience and everyone in the gym is willing to help if you ask. And they're staying safe during covid 👌🏽.
LU IS: BEST BOXING GYM IN DETROIT GREAT COACH
Dale Mobley: I would like to box one day.

Jenny & Alex: Great program!
Chirs G: It’s meh
Corey Ingram: Everybody is well respected from adults to kids. The training and coaching is worth going everyday. amazing beautiful gym top to bottom. I train there i love it.
Chill Man: Bad gym
Jaun Sandwiches: It was bad I went there for a week and left because the training was bad and it a lie that the student are polite they were rude and say offensive jokes they say they teach you about healthy food when they feed you junk food so I switch to dynamite and the training is way better.
Charlotte Hester: I'll just put 1 start instead of speaking down on this place. I am disappointed and I see the staff for what they really is Wow! ...is all I can say.
I am god slave •: Racist
Bama Gurl313: It's a great place to bring your children to learn discipline have tutoring programs dance class and of course they have boxing here it's a great place for after school and the staff is like family
Leah Sachs: We can't say enough about the Downtown Boxing Gym's staff! We recently hosted our wedding there (their first ever) and our experience couldn't have been better. Leading up to the event, the staff was incredibly helpful in hosting a walkthrough for us (and our vendors) to get a sense of layout and space planning. They worked with us to customize the spaces that were available to us, so it would work for our needs (including our band in one of the boxing rings - so fun!). By the day we did load-in, the space was spotless and sparkling clean, ready to welcome our loved ones. Their team worked collaboratively with our day-of-wedding coordinator and other vendors seamlessly. We had 225 people in attendance and the space worked wonderfully, with our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all onsite. Our guests were BLOWN AWAY at how cool everything was - we're so grateful to have hosted our event here and can't thank the team enough for making it as easy for us as it was!
The One True Mexican TM: Amazing organization that provides free food, transportation, and a fitness program and allows children to do homework and recieve free classes.
Brad Galo: What an amazing program! They are "books before boxing," helping kids to be prepared for life after high school. They provide math and literacy interventions, computer classes, nutrition classes, music classes, a library, and even a coding course to help kids find their pathway to success. And they've even got some national champion boxers who have succeeded in the classroom and in the ring, who serve as role models and mentors for the others. Love this place!
Beverly Winfrey: I seen it on Fox 2 News it seems to be a good program and we need to vote for them to win on CNN contest by December the 12th
Anthony Laszlo: This place is seriously doing some incredible things both academically and athletically for these kids. Every individual I had the chance to meet is extremely kind-hearted and has amazing intentions! Can't wait to watch the continuing growth of this place
brenda m: It's a beautiful gym with lots of activities for kids with a great program for homework and tutoring help
Sarah North: They are doing great work at this Youth program totally different from any other programs in Detroit. Books before Boxing is their motto, and the kids must work on their homework or with a tutor each day before they are allowed to participate in the boxing program (which is not mandatory). Very worthy of your time and financial donations.

Cooper's Gym: what do users think?
Monjoa Likine: Wanted to charge me $350+ without giving any information or letting me check out the gym or the instructors. They then told me to stay where I was at & their next opening wouldn’t be for another 9-months. I never appreciate fast sales like this. Oh and personal training starts at $1,500 an hour.
Piereese crump: Unprofessional and shady, as a real fighter it’s crazy they won’t even let you be in the gym until you pay to train with them… like why I can’t atleast watch to see if I like it. This not the place to go if you wanna be a killer this give me title gym vibes.
Louis Ramirez: Best gym in Detroit if you’re looking to get boxing or Muay thai experience. Great price too
Hussam Ammar: Super unprofessional
hulk rogan: Critical:ProfessionalismI am totally convinced that all of the good reviews are fake, this gym is a joke. There is no true martial artist teacher there. The teachers are so bad, and you Feel the insecurity in them. Beware
Moe Sabz: the two people I spoke with were very unprofessional and rude, the way they pitch their sales has SCAM written all over it, I was telling the guy me and my cousin want to check the place out and sign up if possible, he told me the only way i can go inside is if I sign up.... like what... my dude you want me to pay for a 6 month agreement before even looking at the place..not surprised after reading all the other reviews concerning the same problem
brendon carey: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Dirgam Alhusseiny: Love the gym and the experience couldn’t recommend it more coach buck is very helpful friendly environment great for learning sensei is very helpful and very understanding
Murtadha Ameer: Don't fall for their sales technique by causing Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) and pressuring you into signing up. Comes off very unethical and shady. I don't think a great Dojo need to apply those strategies.
Squall Leonhart: Amazing for just about any martial art the coaches are champions so there very qualified to teach any mixed marital arts
Jaun Sandwiches: Just so it can be a 5 star
Elliot Cooper: Come learn and fun in a rewarding and fun place
Sams Kids: Nice gym defenitly the place u wanna get into shape at only reson took one star off is cause they dont do as much sparring as i would like
Lance Lucern: PROS:1. Multiple locations2. Multiple disciplines trained3. They don't go easy on you in general (so you get results)4. They can work with you on payment plans5. Multiple instructors (both male and female)6. Members are looked at as part of one big Cooper's family7. A lot of training equipment8. Safety and discipline generally stressed9. They are good motivators in generalCONS1. While they purport to offer a whole lot of different systems and martial styles, they tend to steer you to the systems they want you to learn while ignoring what you want.2. The instructors often don't seem to be on the same page. What one instructor tells you in one class is often contradicted by another instructor in another class.3. The family feel and atmosphere sometimes strays over into feeling almost cult like.4. Though they have a lot of good equipment, most of the locations I saw could use better equipment set ups in general (e.g. they need more hanging bags).5. At certain locations parking can be a problem.Coopers is a good gym if you want to get in shape, learn basic self defense, martial arts or fighting sports. They don't go easy on you like a lot of places which charge an arm and a leg but, baby and pamper their students because they are afraid of losing paying customers. You will get into shape quickly and learn good basic skills that you will be confident in using in a self defense situation. A lot of places just tell their students what they want to hear and have students walking around thinking they have proficiency and skills they really don't possess. That could get you killed. On the other hand, Cooper's does have some issues they need to address. Some of the members join for boxing, MMA or other fighting sports but, complain they never get any bouts/fights scheduled despite many promises to the contrary. They also seem to welch on other things. I trained there a while ago and was told multiple times I could train in some different disciplines they claimed they offered but, I was stone walled for months. All indications were that they were feeding me BS the whole time. The head guy, while nice, swore up and down they taught all kinds of different systems which I never saw any traces of. It was like dealing with used car salesmen and cult members all rolled into one.The basic classes are affordable but, if you want to learn real skills beyond the most rudimentary, you need to get Cooper's private lessons which cost an arm and a leg.Sometimes some of the classes will shut down out of the blue for extended periods of time with no word from anyone. Also, while questions are not discouraged, they clam up if you ask the "wrong ones" (like, "What happened to such'n such instructor that disappeared a month ago?").Due to my contract period running out, schedule, and a non training related injury, I stopped training there. At first the training got me into good shape and I progressed on the basics but, shortly after that I realized that the general classes were not set up for much progression beyond learning the basics. You have to pay a lot to go beyond. That, and being given the run-around about other systems they claimed to teach, prompted me to reflect on where I wanted to go from there. I may return but, at this point it's not likely. I wish Cooper's well either way but, their program would be a lot better if they stopped to reorganize it.If you're serious, it's still better than your typical strip-mall Tae Kwon Do or Aikido class though. If you are just looking for basic self defense and/or staying in shape then Cooper's Gym is certainly above average. If however, you are looking for a specific system, advanced training, and/or competition at an affordable cost, then Cooper's is hit or miss when it comes to how good it is.
Eric Fortuna: Great gym love fighting very expensive however
Ester Ruiz: My kids love attending classes at Coopers Gym. They've learned alot in a short period of time. Instructors and are friendly and helpful.
Amer Kundra: Best gym
Fitam Eskettit: Wish my membership could have lasted forver great gym would reccomend to anyone way more hands on than big company gyms so progress is gaurnteed
B Rad: Great gym will throw u right in to fight
Shre Burton: My daughter who is 12 has been boxing here for about 6 months and her confidence has grown her attitude has changed even her physical appearance changed she feels good and she's excited about training this is a good place
