Andrew G: Food was very good, with decent sized portions for the price. However, we did wait for over 1 hour for our food, while watching customers who came after us order, receive and finish their meals before we got ours. Was dissapointed in the service.
Deborah Adkins: Sweet little (literally) breakfast/brunch spot, but get there early or you will have a crazy wait in the beautiful hotel lobby adjacent.
Jacob Stock: Duck for breakfast? Yes please! Their duck hash is among the best breakfast meals that I have experienced. The balance between the duck, over-easy eggs, potates, hot sauce, pickled onions, and cilantro is nothing short of amazing.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Hash …More

Jessica Spiegelberg: We went on a Sunday morning (family of 4) waited less than an hour even though it was packed. The food was excellent no complaints at all! It was a little pricier for a breakfast place but worth it as there were limited breakfast options in the area.Eggs Benedict, french toast with fresh fruit, salmon sandwich, biscuits and gravy, and ham and cheese omelette.Kid-friendliness: Didn't offer any kids activities at the tables but the kids loved the hot chocolate.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible but seemed like it would be a squeeze or hassle with how crowded it was and the setup.
Victoria Nikol': I went here for brunch and the food was good. I had the baked potato hash with a biscuit. In which both were very delicious. We also had mimosa’s (a pitcher) which were also great. We all had different dishes but I was not about to get pictures of everyone’s meal. The menu was simplistic as far as food items to choose from and was not able to substitute items.(You can create your own omelette though, just wasn’t able to make it a skillet)But all in all my food was really good!!!

Natalie Frakes: This restaurant has a special place in my heart. It has been in Corktown for over 12 years and I used to come here all the time with friends because it was the only breakfast spot with veggie options around. Still amazing but they service alcohol now. I was pleasantly surprised to see their menu hasn’t changed much which is a good thing because it was always a creative and tasty menu. AND they support other local Detroit businesses and farms. ☀️🍳🥗
Samuel Connors: Second visit, simple online ordering, food was delicious as always, service is great and quick.Dietary restrictions: Allergy friendly

Calloway Latisha: Very low key laid back atmosphere you can take your sneaky link.. My boyfriend love they steak breakfastKid-friendliness: Its was very quiet and roomy your kid can act a ziggy d boom because its a newly place so hardly no one be in there for them to disturb
Ri Ri: been here 3 times.. my food croquettes and shrimp has been over cooked all 3times. missing food and no condiments after asking the cashier to include them in the bag.I tried to support the business around the neighborhood but I will not be back..the cook needs to learn how to cook food properly not everyone like hard fried food..prices are high and the quality of food is awful..
Crystal Miller: Food was good, lots of shrimps with my grits. Hella expensive sides tho. Eggs cost as much as the meat.Maybe inflation? Idk.I’ll eat there again.
CRYSTAL JOHNSON: Fulfilling
Geshia Simmons: I went inside and Sat for 5 minutes after not being Greeted (it was a man inside, I spoke to him after he walked from the kitchen area, and ignored Me) I saw a lady in the kitchen, but she never came out. It was only myself and two other patrons in the restaurant, and we all left HUNGRYat the same time.
Jerome Lewis: Went In To Get A Turkey Sausage Omelet & The Cashier Said It Wasn't On The Menu. So I Asked Her Could I Get A Western Omelet With No Pork Add Turkey Sausage She Said She Couldn't Do That. She Then Suggested I Get A Veggie Omelet Add Turkey Sausage, I Said Okay How Much Would That Be? She Tells Me $21. For 1 Omelet? That's Highway Robbery. Won't Last Long Being Money Hungry. I've Never Been To A Restaurant That Won't Let You Substitute Something So Simple.
Josiah Meiring: Good Food, Much Love , Welcoming environment for all people, highly recommend as a stop on your way through this beautiful city!
Yolanda Goodson: This place is one of my favorite places to go to for breakfast and lunch, The Cook who ever he is loves his craft that's why the food is so great, give them a try asap if you never been.
Erica Jackson: The food was awesome; it was tasty and size appropriate! The coffee was a perfect balance of robust and smooth... just how I like it!Our order was not accurate and the food was a bit expensive; which is why I gave them 4 stars. Service was good, it was about 20-minutes altogether (including ordering).

SD: Such a great experience. Friendly service with plenty of food to eat. the waffles were buttery tasting delicious, Shrimp and grits were amazing my advice to you taste the grits before adding any salt pepper or sugar.I enjoyed the food so much I went back twice in the same week. I wish the ladies restroom had paper towel to dry your hands
Janet Marshall: We had to wait 2 hours to b seated another 30 mins to have our orders places 45 mins for the food chicken was cooked in old grease plates n things were dirty we cleaned them ourselves
Ebony Hobbs: Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes WingsMore
Dalon Kennedy: So this was my second experience eating at this restaurant. I believe this spot has so much potential. But there were a few problems with my experience.#1 I didn't know who my waitress was, until we got the bill. She asked us if we wanted more water at the end while giving us the check. But yet I'm forced to pay 20% gratuity??? For bad bad service.#2: The food was only ok. Being more specific, the grits were a little too congealed. The shrimp was good. But lacked flavor. We received one dish at a time with about 10 mins between the first and last. We got three things, the chicken was good but tiny wings with no meat. The waffles were the best thing on the table. The potatoes were cut different thicknesses with some being uncooked. I wouldn't pay 100$ for this meal and tip again.#4 We had a different waitress take our order after we asked for service 1 hour or longer after sitting there. She instantly started making excuses for our waitress. Saying it was busy but there was no wait.#4 The place was so hot, a lady passed out from the heat. Like muggy and miserable. SMHOverall I gave it a 3 but it was like a 2.5 overall.
Natasha Al-Rafie: Don’t reserve a table, not only because you’ll regret going here but also because you do not need one. We went on a Saturday morning around brunch, and thought it was closed because chairs were stacked on the tables. It was open. When we walked in someone walked in after us and told us how incredible the food was and how he planned to take a friend who was coming into town there and wanted to make a reservation, in person, he didn’t stay to eat.The food was unremarkable, family style, pretty expensive for what you get, esp the ambiance and service not being great. I ended up getting eggs over easy, bacon, sweet potatoes, and toast. The toast was good, the sweet potatoes were candied, I didn’t like them but my husband did so the verdict is out on whether I just found them disturbing or if they actually were good. Either way they are heavily candied, very sweet. The bacon was normal, and the eggs were not seasoned. My husband tried to order the chicken and waffles but after ordering he was told they ran out of wings, weird. Anyway, I wasn’t a fan and wouldn’t go back.
Tanoya Thomas: Everything was excellent. From the atmosphere to the service to the food 👌🏽
Everything Topshelf: Should of played the live music at opening. My wife an I would have enjoyed the live music instead of the playlist!!! Seeing as they didn't have my wife's chicken wings an this was supposed to be a staple on their menu!!!!Food: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More

Steve H: Went this morning and were the first customers in to be seated and served. They were actually cleaning/straightening up as we were being seated and it was cold that even the staff thought so and still had their jackets on. I really came for the Catfish and salmon Croquettes which they had neither of so i was left with the shrimp n grits because i only eat fish & seafood/no other meats. They serve their food in family style portions to be shared and you order how ever many different ones you'd like and we settled on the Pick 5...not sure if that's correct name. We ordered chicken n waffles(2 items), shrimp and grits(2 items), fried potatoes w/peppers and onions(1 items), + a side order of black bean veggie sausages. Food was all Tasty, only issue was that the food did not come out at the same time! We received the potatoes, waffles and veggie sausages at least 10-15 minutes prior to receiving our piping hot chicken and shrimp and grits! And our waitress never mentioned any drink offers 🙄 which may have been partially my fault because I asked for coffee so quickly because it was so cold inside of the restaurant almost as if they may have just arrived prior to opening and the place had not been cleaned and warmed up too long prior. It fills up fast and seating appears to be somewhat limited but plenty of potential if there is some upgrades on the decor(windows needed cleaning and interior could use a more adequate painting) but overall this could be a Lovely place to come to. Like i said we did not get a chance to try any of their drinks and the live music guy was having issues with his setup so hope that went well. May be worth a revisit on the right day to this Black Owned restaurant✊️ p.s. you might wanna pay with cash because there was a nice wait after our card was taken to pay the bill to the point that we had to ask the other waitress if she could see if there was an issue which we were told that there was an issue with their system and they apologized for the wait time. Give it a try and you may just find your new spot👍
Tanika Dunbar: Good food long wait 😭 food worth the wait sometimes. Wouldn’t recommend if you have something to do and looking for a quick brunch bite

sidekickmusic313 riot: Great drinks, wings and awesome ppl
Michael Bosquez sr: It's closed do to covid
Haley Marentette: We are staying at the Trumbull & Porter hotel and having the Red Dunn Kitchen attached to it is amazing! The food is great, the drinks are great and the patio is amazing! Especially with everything going on, we were still able to order our food to go and drink on the patio safely. Highly recommend!
Ryan S: The food was excellent and I had an absolute blast here. The lamp shades are made of silicone, so you don't crack your noggin if you bump one whilst standing up. The guy singing was a hoot.Overall, amazing in all directions.
Ang W: interesting menu and nice atmosphere but very inconsistent service and food.
Wayne Clark: Good service, good people
Erik Piper: Service not the greatest. Eggs were cooked wrong for 4 people and one person didnt even get a meal that was ordered.
Ulysses Jones: A little pricey for the meal, service can be slow at sometime, drinks are good? All depends on the bartender? Not consisted ...
Keena Arrington: Nice!
Sandra Babiarz: Came here approximately around 12:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday, and the place was surprisingly not busy given the time. Unfortunately, I can see why. Myself and another waited approximately one hour to receive our food... which was French toast and the hash. Both of us were very patient but would have honesty left earlier if we had known it would take so long. The establishment seems to care more about the aesthetic rather than quality of service and food. Overpriced, especially $22 for a classic breakfast meal with coffee which you can get anywhere else for no more than $10 sometimes. Also, cannot comment on the gratuity as we did leave a tip, just not sure if it was already included as I've seen in some reviews .
X Jesh: Food was fine. Cocktails were a weak point. I am not a big cocktail guy, but I was at a table of 6, and nobody really found a cocktail they enjoyed. Waitress messed up our drink order and struggled with basic questions about the menu. The main problem was my bill ended up being 60$ for what felt more like a 25$ experience.
Tracy Haughton: Had the Venison Bolognese with Pappardelle which i loved and ate every bite. My friend had a burger i believe. Fries looked yummy. In the morning My friend’s french toast was burned but sent back graciously and the next version was acceptable. Her chi tea was a misinformation trial but sent back and fixed. I had eggs Benedict but not right. Did not send back. Eggs should run. Did not. Did not taste lemon. Maybe more training on recipes. I still enjoyed it. Would i Eat here again? Yes.
Valerie Taylor: Service is horrible, they are slow, rude, and act like you’re an inconvenience. They close the restaurant and bar randomly. The menu says that they have specials but when you ask what the specials are, they tell you that they don’t have any specials. The food is expensive and not worth the price. We walked in at 8:45pm and they yelled from the bar that they were closed. The website says that they close at 10pm. They refused to serve us. Definitely would not recommend this place and I will not be coming back. We gave them 2 attempts and they failed both times.
Otto Orf: Brunch on Jan 19 was terrible. Service was slow. Food came out cold. And it took forever for us to get our check. This place got so many good reviews, we were definitely surprised and not satisfied with the experience. There are large windows that allow customers to view the kitchen. There seemed to be only one guy working for Sunday brunch. The food took a long time to arrive. And then arrived cold. The server seemed overworked and inattentive with only a few tables. The room itself was cold and the restroom was almost as cold as the outside.
Kimberly Johnson: Great place! Friendly staff!
Deborah Evans: Not a good choice for a meal. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was bland and the tortilla was barely warm while the ingredients were overcooked. Couldn't smell or taste the chorizo that should have been in the burrito. The waitress repeatedly poured coffee into the cup of my co-diner, who ordered tea. I might visit again for coffee and dessert, but not for a meal.
Andy Nichols: Last year, we visited the Kitchen for the tasting menu just after Christmas. We thought the food was well prepared if not entirely inspired. This past Christmas we went again and what a disappointment. What happened? The charcuterie was no better than a quick trip around Kroger’s would have produced! Serving French fries which were both cold and likely left over from lunch is a huge mistake to make, especially when the replacements are not the same (and look like they came from Ore Ida). What a shocking disappointment.
Eniso N: Great Service, food and COCKTAILS! I’ve been there quite a few times even a couple times with my little one. Very attentive staff. I’ve been there in the summer when they had outside entertainment and movies. Love this place
calvin morgan: I wanted a simple breakfast bit not paying 20 dollars for 2 eggs and meat sorry toast was 15 dollars is it gold infused. Not coming back. Waitress had a attitude.
Danyelle P: Very good high quality breakfast. Located inside the hotel.

Chrysty Wilder: 1st time eating there and it was very good. The portions are really large, and the omlettes are even larger! Definitely enough food to fill you up. Beezy W.: Everytime i go there i get the worst service ever,i asked for butter on my pancake they said they dont do that, but yet they butter your toast for you no questions asked, very confusing right? They are family owned so the ladies dont wanna work, you can tell, they always have an attitude and talk to you very derespectful!!

Avalon Café and Bakery: what do users think?
Liza Pielsticker: Wow this brunch place is absolutely delicious!!!! We had a variety of breakfast entrees and everyone loved their breakfast! The egf and bacon san which, lavender cold brew and Bloody Mary were amazing ❣️ great staff and customer service ❤️
KEESHA 77: The yelling from the coffee barista was insane! In addition, the sugar sign is RUDE! I chose an egg and cheese sandwich with whiskey spiked coffee for $22.00. I wanted pepper, but i couldn't bring myself to inconvenience the staff any further.Food: 4/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Gaurav Jain: Delicious food but slightly expensive.Recommended dishes Avocado Toast VG, Avocado, Vegan Pizza, Toast …More
Justin Nguyen (JNguyen20): Avalon Cafe and Bakery was a fantastic place to go grab brunch and coffee. I had a London Fog that came out great and then I got a special Avalon Brunch Burger that honestly was one of the best brunch burgers I’ve had in awhile. I’d definitely recommend this for anyone grabbing brunch in the area
Thomas Bilterys: Edit: They contacted me and payed the full tip back. It was enough to pay back the overcharge but I thank them for the gesture. The food was good, but I was a bit surprised when I looked at my bank account. Turned out they charged 6usd more above the tip I gave already. In the end I payed almost a 50% tip. That's just weird business imo. I don't mind tips and high tips when it's good, but charging extra without notice is just not done.
Stuart Fraser: The menu is kind of varied and somewhat local. They only have three salad options and it’s pretty expensive to add a little chicken. The employees seemed cold and slow to respond to basic things like the coffee dispenser being empty. Lastly, I found a flying insect tucked inside a lettuce leaf. It makes me question how well they wash their vegetables.
Brando Tijerina: Everything was great untill the food came out. I didn't get a grilled cheese sandwich, i got a charred cheese sandwich. At least the filling tasted good with the chips.Food: 2/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Squirrel 2020: Awesome caffinated drinks, I got a chai latte. They also have bloody Mary's and mimosas amd some beers. Their food is super good and doesn't make you feel guilty about eating it! I got a breakfast sandwich and a side salad and it was 👌😊. I think they have a good amount of vegan options too, but I'm not 100% sure.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Breakfast Sandwich …More
Jan-Andreas Froese Matos: This is a seriously good cafe, in a great location in the heart of Detroit. They have more food variety than you may think when you first walk in, just take a look at their menu! A good variety of coffee, some beer on tap, wine and cocktails. They make delicious breakfast food, with a special highlight in my opinion when it comes to the breakfast pizza. I wasn’t expecting much as it doesn’t really seem like a pizza place, but boy was I wrong. It was easily top 3 best breakfast pizzas I ever had (foto won’t do justice!).So whether you just need a coffee to go, or want to hang out, this is the place to go for some warm good food. Also the staff was very nice. Four stars just because it can be a bit packed at times, thus annoying depending on the day and mood. But let that be a suggestion for improvement 😊
Emily C: Super kind staff, great vibe and food far exceeded expectations!! There was 6 of us and we were all really impressed!Recommended dishes Breakfast Sandwich …More
M. B.: The manager's approach to a homeless man who entered the restaurant this morning was inhumane and repulsive. I will not return based on what I saw and heard today, and it is not because of the homeless man, but because of the undignified behavior of the manager.
Curtis Hulme: Food was fantastic. I only got the breakfast egg and cheese sandwich but I got it three days in a row. Majority of the staff were very friendly and nice but the baristas are classic baristas, rude and dismissive. Cpuld not make a latte to save their lives. Did not understand what Breve meant. Order fpur shots in a 12oz and kept getting a 16oz cup of poorly steamed milk with a shot poured over for color.Food is fire and most of the staff are great but don't bother with the coffee.
Aaron Jones: Had the avocado toast bacon and egg sandwich. It was divine!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Toast, Sourdough, Avocado …More

Melinda Rietkerk: Stopped in for brunch this morning, and wow what a wonderful experience. The staff were so kind and friendly, especially those working in the dining area. Coming from out of town, they made me feel so welcomed and special. Thank you Avalon cafe staff!I had the egg and cheese sandwich and protein bowl. It was delicious and a great way to fuel up for the day. Would recommend!
Katrice Robinson: I was there for 1st time. They hosted our D6 community mtg. The atmosphere was bz so thas good. I only had the honey orange cake and it was delishFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Mike Bemis: Unfortunately they have lost the intimate atmosphere by miving in with the Jolly Pumpkin. And they no longer have the seasonal pies.
