Cynthia Slay: I called Jim today to ask about replacing a top lens that was broken. When I explained what had happened he ask if I could bring the lens in so he could look at it. Oh my goodness was I excited when he repaired it while I waited. Very nice store with everything a photographer would want. His store will be the only camera shop I go to from now on.

The guys who served us looked at MAYBE 2 of our cameras and said there was no resale value and offered us 5 dollars for the whole lot!!! When we left, the jerk told us to go on ebay!! What a joke! Tom Redd: I worked with Westborn Camera to trade some extra lenses I had for a 4x5 press camera. I was very happy with the trade and the follow up support they gave me as I started doing large format photography for the first time. They were very friendly and very helpful. From my experience, their equipment is described accurately. I would recommend them.

Scott Sweeney: Sold me a camera off eBay that needed a CLA. Was not clear about this in the purchase, did not accept a return. Bought insurance, said they would not cover it because it was broken before it got to me. Highly recommend steering clear of this business, they do not sell reliable used cameras. I will have to pay as much as I paid for the camera to fix the shutter now despite it being described as a working shutter with a light layer of oil. Very disappointing.

With minimal communication on my part they sent me the correct lens for my camera. I am very happy with the condition of the lens and the customer service. While I live many states away in PA I will make an effort to purchase from them again.

Tami Duquette: I took the beginning photography workshop with Executive Director Javi a couple of weeks ago and this weekend I took a Photoshop Intensive with Don Werthman at Darkroom Detroit. Both of the workshops were very informative. Many workshops do not go very deep into the material, and these actually taught information that I hadn't figured out on my own. I highly recommend Darkroom Detroit!!

They had a hugh variety of different camera and video equipment, audio to browse through and being like a kid in a candy shop. A lot of good used quality equipment to chose from and a variety of prices. They accept cash, credit cards, debit cards.Plenty of parking, and handicap parking and entrance. Hours is best to check Google. Parking on East side and the North side of the building.

Emily Shingler: Customer service was EXCELLENT. I am looking to get into photography, this being said I walked into PROCAM with no idea what I was looking for. The sales person (Brad I believe) was so very helpful. He was patient, answered all of my questions and allowed me to see and look at as many models/brands that I wanted. He was knowledgeable and assisted me in finding a camera that best fit what I was looking for that was within my price range. He also went above and beyond and let me try the super lenses (a bit beyond what I need at this time lol) just because I was curious/interested. Now I know this might seem like "general customer service" but in this day and age it is very hard to have such a good experience (especially being a novice) when walking into a store out of the blue. I have yet to purchase my equipment but look forward to doing so this weekend! I would recommend this store and the staff to anyone looking to get equipment or just general information.
Ali Shadpour: Second or third times there in this old store, since there are no advantages of ordering online anymore and prices are the same everywhere you go, why not go to the store, talk to the professionals people in person and maybe you get some discount on extra accessories in the process. Very good service, I got in and out in 15min since I had to run back to the session but I feel like spending more time looking around. This old store has lots in the store, you need an hour to look at everything. Certainly a good experience!

Niko Bricolas: Great store, but I'm sorry, there is absolutely no way that they make any money off of their rental system. It's basically just a return policy with an additional processing fee. In order to rent a camera like the Sony Fs7 (a camera I'm very familiar with), you need to put down an $8,000 deposit. Who just has 8 grand laying around? If I did happen to have 8 grand, don't you think I would just buy the camera? The whole point of renting equipment in the first place is that people cannot afford the camera they're renting. I understand the idea of collateral, but there are other ways to go about it. When I rent a U-haul truck, I don't put down an $80,000 deposit before I can use it.I read the terms on their website, and they're ridiculous. They require a copy of your license and an address, which is fine, that's normal... but to put down the full price of the camera as a deposit? Come on, son. And the insurance doesn't even cover the equipment you rent! What!? If someone did steal it, they could easily file a police report, but nope they need you to basically buy the camera, and then return it with a fee. I was in the store a few years ago, and I remember one of the employees telling me that the store never liked renting out their equipment, so why not just cancel the rental policy then?

Abigail Kilbury: I’ve been in here a couple times because I enjoy taking photos for my school and want to make it a career as a high school senior, as this place being the only camera shop around I was expecting the best of the best service because so many people are coming here so they must have experienced of every walks of life but I just don’t enjoy coming here anymore, the workers had a passive aggressive attitude and a “you know nothing” mentality, and as a younger ‘kid’ it’s hard taking that from a adult. Even when I went with my mom she caught on to the tension the employees had. I don’t know much about cameras and I’m still learning but I’ve been taking photos since I was 14 and I’m now almost 18 so I caught on to some things but I have never thought more down on myself and what I know more than being in here. Prices are high but with how much photography is growing it’s no surprise. Just wish they would have a more welcoming atmosphere, especially for amateur and beginner photographers. :(
