Samantha Barsotti: I went in to have my watch battery changed. Several days went by and they still don't have my watch finished. I called a few times and they kept telling me to call back. I finally contacted customer service and they told me there was an issue with my watch and it was sent to the factory and now I won't have it for another 14 plus days. I was also told by a shinola employee to look on amazon for a watch band since they don't carry my size band anymore. A pretty disappointing in store experience. Especially to spend a large amount of money on a specialty watch just to be told to shop for an 11$ band on amazon because they don't make the size band I need anymore.

We purchased an attractive watch for "her" and a slim RFID security wallet for "him" with designs that we both like.May 2022 update: the Birdy watch stopped keeping accurate time 10 months after we bought it. I thought it was a battery issue, but the rep in the store stated there are multiple issues with the movement. The local store had to send the watch to the factory for an assessment using analysis tools they did not have in-store at Canfield. I will give a few stars for the watch design and customer service experience so far, but I just cannot recommend a watch that stopped working in less than one year. I do believe they will make this right, but this is our first Shinola purchase, and it does not give me confidence in the Shinola brand. While we were in the store looking at new products, we loved the gorgeous design of the Diamond Petoskey Book watch. We seriously considered buying it, but I can't imagine shelling out $2,900 if I have low confidence in the operational quality.October 2022 update: After another 5 months, the watch stopped keeping accurate time AGAIN. Same issue as before, so they sent it to the factory for repair. The only good thing I can say is that they stand behind their products with warranty repairs, but the quality is just not there. Will not buy another Shinola product, and I'm tired of driving from the suburbs to the Canfield location for repair. Dropping another star for my review.

It would be an item you can use most of your life and will to someone, but how many can the average working person really afford. Michael Zimmermann: I was on a business trip for my first time in Detroit. Several people recommended we check out this store. We set an appointment and had the pleasure of working with Gabrielle. Three of us went in and came out with four watches. She helped us find what we we liked and try on different bands. She was very helpful in finding a watch to bring back for my wife as a gift. Love the story behind the brand as well.

Bob Bobb: I bought 3 watches in 2 trips to the Canfield store. One $850, another $1,000 and a third as a gift for $1,500. The middle one is the one I wear, and it has a couple small issues. The start/stop button for the stopwatch feature stays stuck down, so you can't use the stopwatch, and also the crown is often found to have come out one notch, which stops the watch from running, so you can't rely on it to tell time.I went into the Canfield store where I bought them to have it serviced in Feb of '22, and they couldn't help me. It took 10 min to talk to any of the 3 people in the service area (one who was working on watches, the other 2 just standing at the counter). Keep in mind, I was one of 2 customers in the entire store, and there were 6 employees in total.Finally after 10-12 minutes I was told it probably had to go to the factory. I said "Fine, let's do that". But the young man was confused, and didn't think they could take in a watch for service. He finally suggested I drive all thee way down to the Shinola Hotel, and they could probably take it in for service there. I didn't have that kind of time.6 employees for 2 customers and they can't even take in a watch for service?

Trent McRitchie: Firstly: I LOVE SHINOLA PRODUCTS!! USA MADE AND LIFETIME WARRANTY!! Christian, the gentleman that helped me with my 3 watch service order & metal bracelet issue was EXCELLENT. He was very patient, made sure to keep everything in order and I received emails confirming everything he did. They were able to replace a watch battery for me with my appointment and also sent the other 2 & the bracelet into the the factory for case polishing and new batteries. The bracelet was REPLACED and I am very thankful. I really love this brand and their ability to stand behind their products 100%. The staff at both the Canfield and Woodward store have been amazing to me. My wife has 2 Shinola watches and she loves them very much. One of my watches will be back tomorrow and I appreciate the quick turnaround!! Case polishing is a great way to refresh a worn watch and adding a new band or bracelet is great to. It is reassuring to buy something you can have forever!!! THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO SHINOLA!!! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU :) We wish you more and more success with your company and can't wait to stay at the Shinola Hotel sometime :)

Rob Bovee: I was very excited to visit this shop. I drove an hour from my home to check it out. I have a couple of hats at home, but I wanted one from a legitimate shop with a history of industry service. I was disappointed. I thought maybe they'd measure my head, make recommendations based on my stature and style. They told me that I should just try on a " large" and never mentioned a hat size. I tried on 2 hats, ended up paying $93 for a paper hat that matches the quality of the one I got from Target for $20. Look, I get paying a fair price for a quality product. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THE HAT INSTEAD OF LEAVING EMPTY HANDED (or headed, I should say). I'm no prince, I don't need to be pampered. I just thought that a business like this with a good reputation and a history of specialized experience would have helped me find the best hat for my head. They did not. The salesperson was apathetic and didn't seem to care if I found anything at all to my liking. I just had such high hopes, maybe I set myself up for disappointment. I might go back to overpay for another hat, but only if I can't find one I like at Walmart first, because this shop offered me all the old-world charm and specialization of a Shoe Carnival.

A Foundational Black American Man: A big mall with many stores to shop from. A fitness gym, and a large food court with plugs to charge our mobile phones. But that movie theater next door is gone. So that incentive to come to this mall has been reduced to being a passing through curiosity. Or just some employees place of employment.

Sven-Erik Nyberg: I've perused this established gem on multiple occasions in recent months, and if you are looking for authentic Detroit-area industrial, vintage, and antique curiosities, you absolutely MUST make time for an extended visit to wander the labyrinthine two-floor warehouse. To be sure, the owners know the provenance and rarity of their inventory, thus the prices are not exactly a bargain, but if you are interested in purchasing enough, they may be willing to offer a nominal bundle discount.Be prepared to be overwhelmed by the inadequacy of both your budget and vehicular cargo capacity to accommodate the wealth of items you would wish to leave with. The mall is open only on Saturdays from noon until 5 PM, so it is a perfect addition to a trip to Eastern Market after the vendors there have wrapped up shop. When entering the building's main entrance fronting the Fischer Freeway service drive, remember to push the inner door open after being buzzed in, despite the knob suggesting a pull being required.I've included a picture of a spectacular teal enameled metal shelving unit I pined for during my last visit. If someone grabs it before I do, kudos to you, and I suggest you post your own review with a photo of its new disposition, should you happen by chance to be inspired to buy it due to this post's excessive verbosity!
