Canine To Five: what do users think?
A Stevens: I started bringing my rescue jack russell terrier/poodle mix, Davey, here for grooming in March when our previous groomer closed - and it has been such a dream experience. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and seem to genuinely love their work. Everyone is very chill and understanding and helpful. We’ve only been in a couple times and the staff already recognized us, which felt really sweet. The reminder texts and emails are super helpful but I don’t get inundated with emails from them (the monthly calendars are adorable). I also get a huge kick out of getting Davey’s “report card” when I pick him up from grooming. I assumed this was only for doggie daycare - but it genuinely lights me up a little to see he’s had a good day lol.Booking grooming is easy now that we’re on a schedule - the first appt I made did end up being about 6 weeks out from when I called so keep that in mind if you are just starting out - but I recently found out that one of the reasons is because they ensure they never have too many pets in the grooming area at one time so the dogs aren’t stressed and the groomers aren’t overwhelmed - which is honestly such a relief given my little guy isn’t great with crowds. And this just ensures that every dog is really getting their proper time and care.Davey grows his curls quick (my friends have likened him to a chia pet lol) and our first appt was a perfect storm of me getting sick and having to cancel an appt with his previous groomer, and then that shop closing a month later before I called to rebook (since they didn’t take reservations in advance) so he was really quite matted at our first appt. The groomer took this in stride and got Davey looking and feeling wonderful and never once made me feel bad about it. They clearly keep thorough notes in their system because they noted that Davey’s coat was in better condition this time when I came in - which was so cool to me that they could look back and have that information. While I was there, Christian was handling the grooming front desk and he was so personable and helpful - and I also noticed he was calling owners to let them know about scratches or hot spots groomers had found on dogs while grooming, or if a dog was having a harder time and asking if they could proceed with a groom that would be more comfortable for the dog. I’ve had Davey 10 years and a senior rescue aussie for 3 years before him - not once have I had a groomer call me about any of that before. If it’s happened, it’s always been something they tell me at pickup. The dedication to all of the dogs best care was really clear to me just observing this for a few minutes and made me feel so safe leaving Davey in their care. This time, I got the text that Davey was ready for pickup right in the middle of a last minute work project before I would be off early for the holiday weekend - and I called and asked if it would be okay if I finished up my work before coming to pickup. They were totally fine with that and said as long as I picked up before closing, it was no big deal. I took an hour to finish my work and Davey was a bouncy happy little guy when I got there - seemingly not fussed at all that he hung out there an extra hour. They also now have Saturdays available which is great - however our last couple appts have been during the work week and I just bring my laptop and work from one of the local cafes or delis. The location is really convenient for that. Although they do have an easy drop off point if you want to just drive up and park for a hot minute and then head back home.I wish Davey liked hanging out with other dogs so we could join in more of the events and activities they offer lol - but even just for grooming - I cannot recommend them enough.
Eve Montgomery: The staff are knowledgeable, understanding, compassionate, and kind. Canine to Five, in addition to having an awesome name, were quick to respond to my initial application and incredibly flexible with scheduling our first day visit/evaluation. As a first time daycare user, I felt comforted by the genuinely caring demeanor of all staff with whom I interacted. I trust that they took exceptional care of my little guy due to their detailed and informed feedback. Finding trustworthy and compassionate caregivers for my no. 1 sidekick takes away so much of my stress surrounding starting a new job and having to be away from him. I highly recommend Canine to Five!
Linda Manns: They do very good work and very patient
Bridgette Morris-Oneal: I 💝how Happy my dog BearBear is when he leaves the doggy spa
Biba Adams: My dog is well taken care of when he comes for grooming. I realize I should buy him lunch and I wish he got more water. But, he is taken care of.
Diana Wasaanung'gokwe Seales: This has been a wonderful place for my dogs for both doggie day care and grooming.
Devon Gardner: Staff was friendly and nice the environment was relaxing and just loved my dog cut and color
CLEO ELLEDGE: Awesome customer service and dog grooming is top notch in Detroit! Lots of recommendations for the place! Sade passed away…God blessed her as he has blessed me with her.
PEPS GIRL: After SEVERING TIES WITH @PETSMART LIVONIA /DEARBORN👎…..I took my baby Kyro, to CANINE TO FIVE MIDTOWN💙. The staff was so caring, Lisa was his groomer. He looked so clean, his coat very shiny, nails cut low much more. He looked like a new dog. I made an appointment for every 4-5 weeks. @PETSMART LIVONIA/DEARBORN 👎 said my boy was aggressive and that they couldn’t service us anymore. They’re liars!!!! My boy was giving doggie kisses to the CANINE TO 5💙 staffers. He is very loving and gets excited around other dogs. Thanks @PETSMART LIVONIA/DEARBORN 👎 for your poor customer service, which led me to choose a professional provider for my dog’s grooming needs. Thank you CANINE TO FIVE 💙💙for your patience with my boy Kyro❤️.
Tee Mac: Always enjoy coming here! The staff is amazing and super nice. Always attentive and helpful over the phone and great with Pablo for his nail trims! Can’t wait for our groomers appointment soon!
Angelina Carter: I love this place! My dog loves this place! All the staff is very attentive and caring. I travel about 20-30 minutes to get my dog here and I wouldn't change day care centers unless they built one closer to where I live
Bobby Brown II: Beans: woof woof!Me: you give Canine to Five 5 stars that’s cool.
Paula Doherty: We drive 40 min each way to bring our dog here. The staff is so friendly and are well trained to handle all different dog personalities!
Janay “MzSouthernCharm” Harris: They Clean and friendly
Sarah Baughman: Our puppy just had her first day here. We were nervous due to her lack of socialization with dogs, and her separation anxiety. However, Canine to Five made us so much more comfortable. They have answered all of our questions. They have been very kind and professional. They have webcams to check in on your pup throughout the day. Also, her report card at the end of the day made us feel so much better! We are so excited to continue taking our pup here, she loved it so much she didn’t want to leave at pick up. Canine to Five is very worth it! A great place to take your dog, so they’re not lonely throughout the day.
Ashley Tweedale: Love this place! The staff is very accommodating & friendly. My sweet boy Rico has such a blast there, and I love that I can pop in & watch him on the webcams as I please. 10/10 would recommend! I just wish they stayed open a little later like 9pm for pickups.
Mononoke: Very impressed with the care everyone had for my little furries on their first day. They were so relaxed when I picked them up. Also very happy on the prompt response of the front desk! And the thorough paw report 😊
Eric Green: Overall, great experience with this company and we take our dog here often for doggy daycare and boarding on occasion! I would recommend the puppy program for help training your dog and socializing them with others! My only gripe is nail trimming which they often miss the dewclaw but very happy with everything else and baths are a plus too!
Lydia Bourke: So friendly. I felt like you really knew how to deal with the behaviors of the dogs. Felt very confident in leaving my most precious possession with you!
Akira S: Canine To Five always takes good care of my fur baby. The staff is always friendly and prompt to assist with any questions.
Diana Gomez: Great place for my dog to socialize with other dogs while I am at work. Spots get full quick! Friendly staff!!

Animal Learning Systems: what do users think?
lindsay nehra: Hands down, money well spent. We rescued a 2 year old dog with behavioral issues. We had trainers come to the house, had him on anxiety meds, watched tons of help videos and after trying so much....I had decided to re-home him. Which wasn't easy because he nipped already. My husband was not totally on board with rehoming him and wanted to give animal learning systems a try since our vet recommended them. After meeting with Jim Lessenberry and being told there was hope, we went for it.Evan was our dogs trainer throughout the entire program and he trained us as well.He was PHENOMENAL.We have the same sweet boy now but he is so well trained and easy to handle... just pure joy with him now.If you are on the fence about spending the money but really love & are attached to your pup, you won't regret it in our opinion. We literally tell everyone because we are so excited for the positive changes it made in our lives.
Lindsay Cragel: My dog went through the off leash training here in 2019 and it was a life changing experience! They do an absolutely amazing job. It is absolutely worth the time and money - the quality of life I have with my dog is night and day. I take her everywhere now and consistently get so many compliments on her behavior. The benefits of going through this program only get better with time. I will absolutely be taking any other big dog I get through this program. Jim and Evan are the real deal - you will not regret it!
Elizabeth Zerwekh: We’ve had three dogs go through ALS’s 8 week program and it was worth every penny! Our first dog had serious issues with small children and the program completely cured him. Our second puppy bit us when thwarted and has been a model dog since he came home. We’re getting our latest rambunctious puppy back soon and look forward to his transformation. All of our dogs have been strong willed Aussies.
Matt Alessi: Highly recommend. Our dog had every behavioral issue in the book and we were really struggling with him. We couldn’t even take him for a walk. Now after the training program, he is perfectly trained and well mannered. We can now take him on walks without a leash and zero problems. He’s so much happier and more confident. The results are truly amazing.
Justin Gonczar: Fantastic dog training. Trainers are patient and we'll versed in all types of dog training. They also offer in home, group training as well as off site by their own.
Cortney Cochran: I i use to work here , and got fired for no reason at all never was late and always there..... i loved being around the dogs i called and text everyone down the management list and no one ever gave me an explanation of why or what it was i did wrong. Never got warned for anything so still to this day im in the dark of why i got fired from this job! Would not recommend applying if animals learning system communication doesn’t get better!
Timothy Killeen: We took two levels of class here for our rescue dog and they were incredibly useful. We get compliments all the time on how well behaved he is (obviously that also required that we spent time at home on training). Jim can definitely be a bit gruff, but he obviously does this because he loves dogs and wants them to be safe and happy. Evan ran both of our classes and he was very knowledgeable, thoughtful and enjoyable to work with.
A Lightbody: They are amazing! They helped us train Sophie to be an obedient, happy and fun to be around dog, with manners. Sophie was used to obeying when she felt like it, which isn’t really obeying!Jim and Evan used trust, kindness and a lot of support when working with Sophie and us. We can’t recommend them enough! Look no further if you wonder if your pet can be a positive addition to your family!!
Ann Lightbody: A+++ experience! Jim and Evan are amazing. They know dogs, how to change behaviors of dogs and their owners, and care about them. They are kind, patient, compassionate and work tirelessly for the benefit of a family. Can’t say enough about them. This company is well worth every penny. Highly recommend!!
Tony Torre: Jim visited our house and stayed for 2 hours. He focused on the dog for about 5 minutes and then he asked about 10 minutes of very general question. To me Jim was not believable. He wanted to keep my dog for several months and then bring the dog back. He wanted $5000 to fix my dog by making my dog his dog and then returning him when he is ready. I don't believe this guy. I don't trust him and I did not like him.
Kalli Snitgen: ZERO STARS. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY/TRAINER JIM.He came to my families home to address aggression issues with our pure bread NOT EVEN 2 YEAR OLD German Shepard. He saw our pup for LESS THAN 5 minutes. Said to put him away. Talked to my family for 2 hours just asking questions about the pups upbringing.Took our $260 and said the only solution is to put our pup to sleep. He never offered to see the dog again, or offered any tips to help him allow strangers into our home. (Our dog is only aggressive to strangers coming into the home-not outside in public, at the vet, or towards family)His only solution was that he “will eventually” bite somebody and we better put him to sleep. Our vet was APPALLED at this “professionals” opinion and that she has never seen a trainer say that about a PUPPY with seeing the dog for LESS THAN 5 minutes.Waste of time and money.Unprofessional and useless.Do not trust this company. In it for the money. When he realized he would not be getting our dog to go to his four thousand dollar camp he offered this dreadful opinion and offered no other advice.Ridiculous.
Nancy Johnson Chavez: I cannot say enough great things about Animal Learning Systems. I have two pit mixes and had to endure some prejudice from people. So I put my dogs through the off leash program at ALS and now I have the most well mannered, well behaved dogs on my street. They can go off leash on trails and I don't have to worry about them running off as their "recall" is solid. Meanwhile I watch people who "bought" their pure bred dogs struggle with leash aggression and overall poor manners. I have travelled with my dogs and stayed at pet friendly hotels with confidence. The training my dogs learned at Animal Learning Systems makes me look good. Also ALS is very professional and a very well run organized operation. I tried a couple of other "dog trainers" and they were completely ineffective. I have also used them to board my dogs. I would only ever board with Jim and his staff.
Susan Blake: We have worked with Jim and his team with 2 dogs and been very pleased with the results. When taking the classes be sure to do the homework, it is for your benefit in the end! Highly recommend them.
Hunter Coe: Jim and his team are very professional and they know what they are doing! Worth the money and the after product service is very good too. Over all great value for the services. We love our dog even more.
Jessica Savoni (Jess): I was very hopeful when Jim came to my home to help with my dog's crate training and attachment issues. However, I quickly learned how unprofessional and dishonest this company truly is. Jim's visit cost $245. I had to ask him to view areas of our home as he never moved from his seat. He stated that the had ideas to help our dog but only wanted to focus on crate training as this was our biggest issue at the time. His plan consisted of a piece of notepad paper, strict water diet and typical crate training procedure, most of which we had already tried from a simple Google search. He instructed us to follow the routine for a few weeks and then to email him our dog's accident history, as he said he may find a pattern. My husband and I followed this plan, even hiring a dog walker to let our dog out midday to strengthen his puppy bladder, and I emailed Jim in hopes to receive the next steps or insight into his accident pattern. Instead, I got an email from his secretary scheduling - without even asking - another in house meeting for "only $180!" I was in absolute shock as no one had never mentioned a follow up meeting or any additional fees. I was also upset that Jim specifically withheld information at our first meeting and NEVER spoke of another meeting, only email. His lack of transparency, and withholding of such information allowed his to elongate the process of addressing our issues and put an ongoing financial burden on our family. Had this model been presented to us when we asked (numerous times) he evaded our questions with words like, "let's just focus on this one thing right now."When I called Jim's office to discuss this matter, I only spoke to Jim's secretary who said she was solely following his notes and she had no idea why I was so upset. I asked to speak to Jim and she simply said she would give him the message. Without anymore communication from the company, I called the next day asking for Jim. The secretary answered again and stated that she talked to Jim who planned to never email or call me back. She also went on to state that she did not know why I was calling as our crate training issues have been solved. Obviously they didn't even to bother reading our email since we outlined numerous occurrences of our dog messing in his crate. I ended the phone call in tears as I specifically spoke to Jim about my concerns with my dog's attachment issues as I am pregnant. This was received in a cold and obvious unprofessional manner as I was never going to receive a follow-up phone call or simple communication. My recommendation is to simply save your money or go to a behaviorist who will truly help. Hiring Jim is like paying $245 to search Google, and another $180 for each subsequent search. Jim WILL NOT help you or communicate with you without more money being sent his way, despite promises to do so. The worst part is that he will blatantly state he is withholding information from you only for you to find out you will have to pay more money to receive it. Here we are $245 later without a single issue resolved and most not even addressed.

K9 Turbo Training: what do users think?
Nat Zorach: doggies 🐶 😍
Steve Wirtjes: Very nice and great with my dog. knows alot of great ideas and information .
Sarah Sprague: Great class offerings, very helpful staff, convenient location, and we’ll organized programs. My dog has benefited a lot from their courses!
Laura Robb: Dedicated staff. Perfect facility. Animal lovers. Great trainers
Chris C: Zoey and her crew of trainers are amazing! Watching them do pack walks is incredible, especially knowing that just days before some of those dogs were reactive!! Would give them 10 stars if I could! Highly recommend!
Laura Doe: Rented the space to let our dogs run around. They made everything super easy. The dogs had a blast! Definitely will go back
Mary Honeyman: My husband and I were very impressed with Kyle's knowledge and attentiveness. He answered every one of our questions and helped my dog Bailey feel more at ease in the first 20 minutes.
Andrew Carroll: Excellent dog training, great staff and they helped our pup (and us) address all his issues.
Jessica Harlan: Very friendly staff. I've seen great results with my shy little rescue dog after just one class.
lisa copeland: Excellent training and kindness
lotti dah: We have done two drop-in classes here. Both were well done and our dog got a lot out of them. Highly recommended!
Peggy Stulberg: Shoutout to Abby who has taught me so much and has helped me and my guy Ziggy work through his reactivity to people on the street. Ziggy has come so far. He rarely barks at people now. I continue to use all of the techniques Abby has taught me and I’m so proud of Ziggy each and every time he succeeds. Abby’s knowledge, patience, positive attitude, and dedication have made this possible. With each training session, we watch Ziggy grow less and less reactive. Thank you, Abby!I have a second shoutout: This is for Rachel who was our first trainer when Ziggy joined our family at three months old. I watched in amazement as Rachel got Ziggy past his fear of scary Halloween street decorations. To this day, four years later, Ziggy has not paid the slightest attention to any holiday street decorations. There are so many instances like this. She taught me so much, and got me through a particularly difficult incident with Ziggy, for which I am forever grateful. thank you, Rachel!
Kathy Miller: I took a loose leash walking class with Emily. Great class!! She personalized the class to our needs. A lot of positive feed back.I also learned some great tips that I have already used
Leah Mondro: Took my dogs Ozzy and Piper to 2 personal training sessions with Kyle. Ozzy who I thought was very hyperactive and had some bad habits, Kyle taught us that he just needed to be stimulated mentally. Ozzy has been so much better since we have been practicing positive reinforcement and giving him mentally stimulating activites. He does not bark for attention anymore and has done phenomenal at the dog park. Kyle gave us a lot of good tips and tricks to training our dogs.
Hannah Robar: I have taken two classes with K9 Turbo and loved both! I took agility with my husky and we both had so much fun learning from KJ. I can't wait till there is another agility class for her to take. The facility is brand new, clean and so fun for every dog!
Barb Tatro: We recently got a new puppy and we are already on our third series of training classes with her. We have had Emily and Sarah as our trainers (along with one night with KJ subbing in) and they have all been amazing! They are super helpful and knowledgeable and they celebrate our pup’s successes right along with us! I recommend K9 Turbo Training to everyone that I adopt puppies to through my rescue because it’s so worth it!!
Smita Rao: We have been working Abby to help out relatively new rescue dog, Piggy and it has been such an incredible experience to be able to understand ways to bond with our dog to help set her up for success. Abby has taught us techniques to help Piggy understand that people can actually be nice, and her mat training techniques also help our otherwise nervous dog calm down a little. Thank you Abby and K9TT for your help - you are awesome!
M. E: I have a high drive working dog who likes treats but is more tug/fight and ball driven. They didn't seem to know what to do with my dog and just encouraged me to keep trying to lure her with treats and to be patient and understanding. I get that is the "positive" and force free method, but it's not positive if I leave without anything learned. Not sure why toys and tug can't be used in their methods. I did a drop in agility session that was recommended when I called and my dog left learning how to....stand on a box and look bored. I picked drop in to try out the trainers without commiting a crazy amount of money as well as to skip the eval part of private lessons if I liked them.
Delaney DeAngelis: We have loved our experiencing working with K9 Turbo Training. We've been working with Jesse to help with our dog Scooter's separation anxiety and it has been going great. The virtual format is convenient and we are still able to get live feedback even if we aren't in the same room. We are already seeing great progress and I love that our "homework" is always tailored to Scooter's progress and individual needs and not a set program. When we tried training him ourselves, we never felt like we were making progress but now, we do!
William Colvin: I thought my dog was not all that bright until I took her to K9. Now my little angel is the most well-behaved girl on the block! Truly, highly recommend if you are looking for high quality training for your pet!
M: Just got started but they are knowledgeable and understanding. They are giving us the tools to help our new rescue puppy.
