Detroit Training Center Inc: what do users think?
robert streeter: I have had a view of some class room,s I have not had a chance to start any classes I'm still trying to start classes wanting to regain my CDL for a new job.
ASHA RAIN: Horrible CDL A program,The structure is non existent and the trucks are always broken,The supervisor Jeaneen is a very self centered, disrespectful woman,Save your money and go elsewhere
Anthony Hodges: Awesome instructors very good CDL a program welding and workshops
Jeff Holmes: Went here on 7/9/2022 for the morning and afternoon residential electrical class , and was hoping to learn how to wire new outlets into a home . The teacher arrived and didn't know it was two sessions, the first session he taught all about safety, at 12:40 pm the teacher brings the models in for us to work on....keep in mind the next session wasn't suppose to start till 1:30pm! Some of these models were already hookedup with outlets from a previous class, but I was lucky enough to get a blank one. For the next 10 minutes the teacher is having conversation with certain students and the rest of us were waiting for him to teach us how to hook the models up. He then comes to my desk (saw the blank model) and says '"This guy must need some help, let's help him" he then proceeds to start putting a wire in and drifts off into another side conversation. He comes back to me and asked a student behind me to come help me because his model was set up! The student gets to my desk and the teacher asked to use his model since it was hooked up....the student tells the teacher that he doesn't know what he's doing either, his model was already hooked up when he received it (SMH) ! At this point I realized the teacher was actually expecting us to teach ourself , or he forget he didn't teach us this part yet! So I just got up and left, I was irritated that I wasted my time! The staff was very nice though, but this class was a horrible experience..I wasnt the only one who left either.......Updated to 4 stars because although I had a bad experience during my first visit , The owners did reach out to me to correct the situation. I will take another class and hopefully all goes well!
Shanina Hill: This place is a good start for those who want to drive trucks. They have a instructor name Brittany D. And she is very patient, understanding and kind. You have some people who just show up for a check and then you have those teachers who care enough to break it down and encourage you. She is amazing. My cousin was part of the program and he passed thanks to Brittany. I think it’s crazy that they have to be out in all type of weather and management doesn’t take that inconsideration.
Marisha Corinne Morris: My personal note, shared below:Good morning Detroit Training,I am reaching out to share my appreciation for Mr. Henry and his teaching style paired with experience and anecdotes/stories.This bundle allowed for the learning material to be elevated and provided context for information I had no knowledge /experience with or provided a deeper level of understanding. You have an amazing professor in Mr. Henry, who is also quite patient with students and their level of learning or lack of understanding/application.I’ve shared this with Mr. Henry already but felt it was important that you are also made aware.Thank you again. I’ll be taking my exam with you in the next week, and will keep you all updated on my resi builder progress. Thank you again for the platform you’ve provided.
All About Baby: This is a great school
Walter Wadlington: First class training, for good jobs.
Sam Pee: Its a great experience thank you
Jake Pieske: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueHe's giving back to the city great work
aurburn lee: Educational
Joyce S: The training went well. The instructors where Awesome and patient with us.
Elizabeth Rogers: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Eve Taylor: I truly enjoyed myself. The instructors were very knowledgeable, very patient, and was helpful to everyone in the class. The only problem that I had about this entire visit was the pathway to the door. The entrance is in the back of the building. In order to get there you have to walk through a long alley and around to the back. The alley is between an abandoned building and the school. There are no cameras along the side of the building and once you get into the back it's just one open space kinda looks like a construction site. No one will hear you if you a scream for help. and I don't recall if there is a gate or not but it is very unsafe to walk this entrance. So on safety reasons alone 3 stars. But the actual class was amazing and I would rate them a 5+. I did email them about this safety problem. Hopefully they do something, especially when the majority of the people I saw in the class were ladies.
Toni Johnson: I learned more on youtube. I signed up for the masonry's class building a block porch, well, I actually signed up for all 6 of the classes. . The instructor is very nice and knowledgeable but I'm a hands on kind of person and this was not that. Next Saturday 4.17.2021, will be next class which is hanging drywall and taping, let's see how it goes. Just keeping it real!
Travis Clinton: I went here in 2019 for heavy equipment operator certs and let me tell you its the best school around. Hands on training the 1st week. And the staff is friendly.
Jhonald Guti: Good training and excellent peolpe
Spike2222: Good program
Steve Sanders: Great school, great instructors, & training programs
Daniel William-Calix: Really good Classes, they work hard to get a class that best fits your schedule, they're really understanding and are the best of the best in flexibility. And now because of them iam working in Detroit Salt Mines. Truly an amazing school.
Hope Burgess: My experience at Detroit training was informative. I learned a lot. My teacher was Toni Jennings and she was great. She took her time and making sure our class understands what she was teaching. I will suggest her class if you looking to go into real estate.

Kalb Daniels: Super unprofessional don’t bring your money here. They don’t know how to teach, the school it’s ran by a mother and her 2 kids. I only stayed to get my hours I passed but I learned more on TikTok than I did in the class room. Don’t take your money here the experience was terrible.
Zerica Walker: If you're looking for a CNA school your search end here. This is the absolute best school ever. Sam is a phenomenal teacher. I passed my state skill with 100% (her passing rate is 100%). She explains things in a language and which you can relate and understand (not just reading from a book). Thanks Sam I will never forget how you contributed to me becoming a CNA but also motivating me to become a RN. Thanks again!!
Caroline Hax: The program is designed for your success. Great instructor and staff. Very welcoming environment.

Mrs sam is the GOAT! She definitely gone get you ready for the state exam and make sure you leave her program with all the knowledge you need to become the best CNA you can be!! Loved this program and I loved Mrs Sam and JT!
Toni Leonard: This mother and daughter duo is a mess they come to discuss there problems an try to talk to us grown people like kids money wasted please don’t waste yo time or money.
Jay Bandz: She said she was inappropriate and that she is on top of inappropriate behavior I feel as though she doesn't like the females as much because of her attitude towards towards them and her responses.
Kawanzaa Braddock: This is the place to go. If you want to feel comfortable. And want someone to be upfront with you. And not sugarcoat with you. And motivate you. And above all want to pass your state. This is the place to go. I passed my exam skill 100 percent. All three skills. I didn’t miss anything. Because I had a great teacher.
Teri way: Motivating, entertaining, educational experience: I was taught above and beyond. Family owned business. I love that most of all.
Salise Gaffney: Love the way she teaches, it’s not boring at all, love the sense of humor the staff has, makes me enjoy the classes & makes me excited to go everyday even more. It’s hands on, very easy & they very understandable you will pass…. TRUST ME. I loved my experience 😁❤️
BA_FITNESS: Definitely worth the money and knowledge you’ll obtain taken this class! I took this class one month ago and I am now certified! She will definitely teach you everything you need to know so that you can pass her class as well as pass the two state test you must take before becoming certified! You will definitely be given every tool you need by them to obtain your goals!
Rosie Adriena: That 1 and not that 2! Best program in the state, she actually cares about her students and learning the correct material. 10/10 💕

Health Care Solutions and Career Group: what do users think?
Diamond Mccaa: I recently completed and passed the CNA course through Health Care Solutions and Career Group. The class was very informative, and straight to the point. The instructor is very knowledgeable and is serious about her career, she does a very good job preparing you for the state test and in your career. Ms. Julie who is the director instructor is very passionate and serious about her career and this is not the course for you if you’re not ready to learn in a fast paced environment being held accountable for your involvement and competence of the information being given. Overall, I am pleased with the course and will return to become certified as a phlebotomist. I do not have many complaints but I will say 3 things that can be improved; 1st. We should have mock practices for the state test, which would include being randomly given 4 skills to do within 30 minutes to be given a feel of what we will be faced with during the state test. 2nd, a list of supplies of what will be needed for the class should be given before class because it would give the students the opportunity to prepare themselves. The 3rd thing would be grace and patience, people shouldn’t feel insecure about needing extra help, 49% of Detroit residents are illiterate and the fact that people are trying to better themselves should allot for understanding. We don’t know what people situations are and kindness and respect should be mandatory. This course is definitely worth the tuition and the time, just come prepared to do your part and you will succeed. Thank you very much Ms. Julie, you are such a sweet lady who have high expectations for your students. You’re a great teacher and you’re very inspiring.
Shannon Howard: So I started in January she was absolutely mean I got use to it eventually I wouldn’t say mean I would say rude I didn’t get certified due to her giving the class a test in the end to determine if they can go on to the state test or not I failed she told EVERYONE who failed to come back and retake it the following week I couldn’t bc of car issue I kept calling up there some man kept answering saying he was gonna have her call me for months and never did EVERYTIME I asked can I come up there he would say I would have to wait till I talk to her she answered months later and told me to come up there I went up there she told me it’s been 3 months so I’ll basically have to pay all over a again so it was a waste of my time and money I literally got an 100% on all assignments and she will sit and have favorites and embarrass other students infront of the class like we were kids I would not recommend no one to this class and she doesn’t go based off your work schedule you can fail the class just from missing a day you’ll have to make it up
Anon: The school is highly recommend for CNAs who want to further their education path and have a little laugh while learning they have a lab and are very professional. If your going to go back to school as a experienced CNA as well like me I recommend coming here. They also have other classes as well you should definitely check out.
Dion Walker: This class was the beginning of the end of a ruff life I had a very hard child hood and this class gave me light at the end of the tunnel and the small hugs and pats on the back and words of encouragement from Ms. Julie and Ms. Karen gave me the strength to go on to build the life and foundation that I have built for myself and my future a little bit goes a long way.#class of "09"
Yimia Williams: Mrs. Julie is so smart, sweet, and hilarious! I really enjoyed her, and her CENA program. I definitely recommend her services! Words Of Advice, put your phone on vibrate, Mrs. Julie will CALL THE POLICE 😂😂 Just kidding, however respect Mrs. Julie and her time, pay attention and you will succeed! Calling all future CNA'S Mrs. Julie is the key to succeed! Good Luck to all and Thank You so much for your time and wisdom Mrs. Julie ♥️
IT'S FEFE: I done called and emailed several times for a refund. Went to the office twice. No one was there. Nobody ever called you back nor email back. I been put my despoit down in April. I wanted my refund. Very unprofessional. Okay this is ridiculous.y Okay it beyond 30days. The guy is very nice who picks up the phone. But no email or phone call back. Like you got paid for no service you gave me. Be aware if you seeking a refund you probably never get it. Finally got my refunf. Check was dated 1022/22.
Fatima Cisse: If you’re wondering whether you should take a CNA program for healthcare solutions group, don’t even be skeptical. Ms. Julie is an amazing and wonderful teacher Who genuinely wants to help her students succeed and learn the right materials needed to be a CNA. I recently passed my CNA test and I couldn’t be more grateful. Ms. Julie is willing to help you as long as you are trying/willing to learn and pay attention in class. Once again thank you so much Ms. Julie for being such a wonderful and amazing teacher❤️ And for also putting a smile on our faces for making our classroom such a positive environment!😊
Diamond Kimbrough: Mrs. Julie is hands down the best!! she's honest, blunt, and about her business. She wants the best for her students and it shows in her teaching. I'll definitely be sending my daughter to her class. I luv you Mrs. Julie and thank you very much
Leigh Clark: The teacher is very knowledgeable and takes pride in the nursing field. I came for certified nursing assistant (CNA) and I recommend this program to everyone.I tested here for my license as well and had a good, professional experience.
Omar Naksho: Class was great, very helpful and informative. Definitely coming back for more!
Liz Faraj: I had a fun learning experience. Mrs.Julie is a very wise, intelligent, outgoing instructor with a great sense of humor. Pay attention, do the work and stay focused. Remember this class is only 2 weeks long and it's alot of material to go over. Don't fall behind on your assignments, study the material and be serious about your education and you will do great in her class.
Dimples: Worst experience I’ve ever had. Julie is definitely a knowledgeable teacher but knowledgeable doesn’t make you a good teacher. Extremely rude and makes disrespectful comments. I spoke to her about turning in an assignment when she agreed to let me do so she proceeded to wait until the next day and said I couldn’t turn the assignment in then waited until the end of the program to withhold my certificate from me because of the assignment “I still needed to turn in”. Class experience was horrible if she had a problem with one student the whole class suffered. Allowed certain students to be disruptive but then complained about the class being slow and not “passing”. What instructor calls their class slow and we’re paying you our hard earned money? Very distasteful experience. Students weren’t allowed to talk ever! We’re grown people why aren’t we allowed to talk? Showed a skill one day and expected us to learn it within a day. The class wasn’t hard but some people don’t learn that way. She allowed one student to be on her phone all the time yelling and talking about court dates and warrants but it’s a no phone rule? Guess that only applies to people she doesn’t like. Student constantly made loud outburst as if she had a couple screws loose and it was allowed. I was recommended to this school and I will never ever return. I go back Tuesday to turn in the assignment that should have been accepted prior to receive my certificate. After I take my state exam and get my certificate I will be happy . Just because you’re knowledgeable and know the material doesn’t make you a good teacher she needs to learn how to talk to people and learn some basic interaction skills. You don’t have the patience to teach then don’t be a teacher simple! Never again.
carla hassan: Great teacher‼️. If you listen to Ms. Julie you will succeed.
Edward Reese: Ms.Julie is truly one of a kind. What an amazing instructor, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. I don't see how anyone could prepare you any better than her. This truly is her heart, helping you so that you can help others. So thankful that I found her and her school.
Brandi Seaborn: I love Mrs. Julie! Great experience and great learning at Health Care Solutions.
IrishSullivanify: This is a 2 week program. You people need to understand that a lot goes on. It may be overwhelming at first, but also understand that they have a very well placed curriculum. Don’t give up!!!! It becomes so much easier after about 3 days. Pay attention!!! Take notes on every skill they bring up (there’s 22). Take notes on everything. Be determined and dedicated and trust your facilitators/instructors. They will lead you to success if you trust them.
Ethan Hiltz: Mrs. Julie is a phenomenal instructor and I really enjoyed the CNA course here. She did a great job explaining everything to me.
Linda Heard: Ms. Julie is an awesome teacher. The class was fun but very informative.
Maisha Floyd: Read the reviews here when I first booked the class and was skeptical and nervous. But let me tell you, this school and class is amazing. It’s straight forward and if you have a problem with Julie or the school…..it’s you. I had a very stressful week with my car not working and being left on the side of the school and I had to go into money I was saving to buy a new car and make it back to class. I cried because somebody had broke into my car and also stolen my catalytic converter while it was out there. I had to wait to pay the tuition and Julie was very understanding of my situation. Julie is very outspoken and an amazing teacher. My only one issue is the fact that I would have PERSONALLY preferred at least one one on one session with her to practice the skills. 🙌🏽 Other then that I’ve been recommending this school to everybody.
Ms. Sherrell: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Jamie Dunklin: The class was great and Mrs. Julie is amazing!! GREAT TEACHER!!

Alejandro Marquez: Everyone is super helpful, kind, professional and that is why success is eminent after enrolled and finishing the course 😉
Haidar Algazaz: Went here in 2020, great school, great people, got a job at aggreko starting 24 a hour, they do not hand feed you every single thing, ask questions and study the material and you will be employable within 6 months.
Demetrius lewis: Great school, great owners and amazing instructors
kawsar quadir: The Instructor and the office staff too good and helpful. Thanks DTI.✌👍❤
Middle Religion: Hidden Gem 💎 in the heart of the city I hope and wish more younger and older people come and learnat this school it can unlock potential we all have in us to support our family and inspire our surroundings I still have a month left and jobs starting at ($25.00) per hour are the normal flowing thru these doors if your hands on and or just looking for another chance with the right attitude your life will change for the better.PS: ( Don’t get swallowed by the streets or even family that might be sending you in the wrong direction chasing the wrong type of $money$ this place is legit and I pray it keeps growing!)(Only a 4 month program! 😳 Duck off and boss up!)(Michigan Works and other programs will fund in full amount no excuses God Bless!)
Kendra Paul: I took the electrical class. The instructor only teaches certain students certain things. Also, they have classes overlapping. Your 5 month class may start in June, then they’ll start another one in August and so on. Before you know it, everyone is in class together with one instructor trying to teach everyone at different levels. So, if you are trying to learn more but your classmates are falling behind, then you will stay behind, because there is only one instructor teaching at least 3-4 classes day and night at the same time.Because of the overcrowding, there is no room for social distancing. Very few people wore mask. Most mask was worn on their chins. Smh.
Ereck Boykin: Great teachers in the program and willingness to teach student about the trade program.
Fred Dailey: i go here it's excellect
Random king: This want go when I get older

Grand Circus Detroit: what do users think?
Karissa Phillips: Grand Circus is the best learning environment I have ever been part of! The staff does their best to make it a supportive experience. I admire that they focus on getting feedback from their students weekly so that they can always be improving the program. The JavaScript bootcamp gave me the tools for success and introduced me to my first employer. I have a career that I enjoy now, and my salary has quadrupled. The investment is worth it. Thank you, Grand Circus team!
Joshua Colorito: I am a C# .NET bootcamp graduate of Grand Circus. I attended the full-time program from November 2021 - February 2022.First and foremost, Grand Circus does a wonderful job preparing you for an entry-level role in software development. It is fast-paced, but it is not overwhelming. If you pay attention during class, ask clarifying questions, and simply put in an honest effort, you will graduate. You get out what you put into it.On the other hand, if you are expecting to "coast" your way through the program, you will not have a good time. Grand Circus (or any bootcamp for that matter) is not a 3-month ticket to an instantaneous 6-figure job. You will have to work for it.With all that being said, Grand Circus was nothing short of an amazing experience! From the instructors to the career services team, I felt like I was fully supported the entire way through. I always felt like my questions were answered, and help was freely given whenever I asked for it. If you put in an honest effort into everything you do here, the Grand Circus team will have your back. One thing I really appreciated about my experience was that my instructors didn't sugarcoat anything. Coding can be challenging, but it is worth it! You will have some nights where it feels like nothing is working in your code; the very next morning you will come at it with a fresh perspective and wonder why you were even stuck in the first place. The career services team will teach you a lot as well. They will cover topics such as overcoming imposter syndrome, how to build a resume, connecting with others on LinkedIn, etc.Similar to the instructors, the career services team doesn't sugarcoat anything either. From day one, they will tell you that half the battle in becoming a developer is the job search itself. It is likely that after graduating you may have to send out 100+ applications before you land your first job. That said, if you network properly with others from the very start of the bootcamp (and yes, I literally mean from the VERY start of the bootcamp, which the career services team will also tell you to do), you will have MUCH easier time finding a job than your classmates. Network early, and network often. That is the great key to finding your first job as a developer!Overall, Grand Circus is a gamechanger for anyone thinking of switching careers to become a software developer. The program is challenging, but very rewarding in the long run. If you are doing a full-time bootcamp you will need to take it seriously. For 3 months, it will be as demanding of your time as a full-time job. However, throughout that time you will be surrounded by an incredible support system of instructors, career services, and your classmates!
Joseph Sardashti: I completed the Front End Bootcamp program in late 2020. It was a difficult, fully-consuming program but it definitely gave me the skills and familiarity with web development and coding methodology necessary to land a junior tech position. The course and final project demands are definitely designed to help land a job at the major fintech employers in the area (Quicken / subcompanies), at which many of my classmates found positions after their completion of the program. To respond in part to some of the negative reviews I have seen for the program: this bootcamp works in the same way as any education. You will only get out what you put in, and no degree or certification means that you will just automatically be employed. Companies take bootcamp certification seriously, but only if you are able to prove your skills in the interview process. The tech job search is a grueling, and it will take time, energy, and daily independent coding and preparation to land a position.I am very thankful for the support I have received and continue to receive (2 years and a full-time position later) from the Elizabeth in Career Services. Some things to keep in mind before starting at Grand Circus: I think bootcamps are generally designed for those who have an interest in coding and have a specific job in mind for which they want more specialized experience to feel qualified. People who want to better understand and design apps and web pages, and are already attempting to code daily out of interest! Transitioning from zero-coding or never using a computer will be extremely challenging, with or without the bootcamp. All of this said, I am definitely glad I did the bootcamp through Grand Circus, and I would certainly recommend the program to colleagues looking for a change in career path.
Mara Johnson: I attended Grand Circus in their summer 2022 cohort for C#/.NET. I chose GC after a family member completed the program and liked the smaller class sizes compared to the large bootcamps you'll see advertised online. I also looked at the final projects coming out of various bootcamps, and saw that GC was more advanced in that area. I was self-taught in dev work for some time before GC but struggled to tie everything together to begin creating functional apps. Fearing that I'd plateau and get a bit overwhelmed in the next steps of learning to code, I enrolled in GC. I'm 6 months into my first dev job, and knowing what I know now, I'm grateful for what I learned at GC as it put me in a great spot to take everything we learned to the next level (and beyond lol). I highly recommend you spend time learning the basics of your desired GC curriculum before attending to really put yourself in a position to learn and quickly enhance what you already know. GC was an amazing tool for me to help finalize my journey of breaking into the tech industry (without a computer science degree).I wouldn't have been able to put together C#, a database, and then a framework by myself (which is what employers want). I personally needed the structure, deadlines and live instruction that you don't get by watching Udemy/Youtube.The journey into the tech world is really, really difficult no matter what road you take, and I have no regrets in choosing GC to help me reach that goal.
Kaige Miller: I did the six month full stack bootcamp focusing on C# and graduated in October 2022. The staff was very helpful teaching the concepts in and out of class as well as helping me land a job within two months after graduation. I can’t thank Grand Circus enough for helping me change my life for the better. 10/10 recommended.
Rusty Shackleford: At a time when inflation is out of control and tech companies are laying off daily, Grand Circus has raised tuition to $15,000! It’s ridiculously unaffordable and unsustainable! Do not go into this kind of debt, there are more affordable ways to learn to program!

Kevin Valente: My son took this boot camp on a recommendation. I would suggest that you really do your homework before signing up for this program. It is way overpriced for what you get for the money. Yes, the coding portion of the boot camp is good. My son learned the basics of coding. The issue comes when you ask for assistance, or if you have questions on the daily class. The class is set at more of an advanced pace, Not for a beginner just getting started in coding. They claim they will help you prepare your resume, if I didn’t write my sons it would have not been excepted. They kept sending it back to him with; needs to be re written. No explanation as to what needs to be changed. I have the emails to support the claim. The big one is the the help with job placement. My son has been asking for help, and getting no help or response what so ever. He has contacted the placement department with no answers.I am so disappointed, with this entire experience after it came so highly recommend. At this point I would like a refund.Again don’t waste your time or money on this program!I was hoping that I could rate this in a negative stars!
Ryan O'Hagan: Don't waste your money. Yes, you can learn the basics of coding your chosen language(s), but that is where the truth ends and the lies begin. There is no job placement, so the advertised ~90% placement is far from a joke, it's just a flat out lie. Average salary coming out of bootcamp is 50-60k? Maybe if you don't include the ~50% who are still unemployed, even then it's a long shot. Exersises and materials aren't even checked for coherency, grammar and spelling errors. Does that sound like something worth 11k of your hard earned money? I, at least, got in before the tuition hike and while it was still an in person class. They advertise that their mission statement is to increase diversity (minority representation) in tech. I'd say about 90% of my cohort was Caucasian. And more than half of that 90% I would say was male. There's nothing wrong with that, until you are one of those white males that are told at orientation about Affinity Groups! Oooo ahhh. Everyone should try to join an Affinity Group, they are great. What are Affinity Groups you might ask, they are gatherings of people to discuss the struggles and triumphs of people in tech. Oh, that sounds good and helpful you think, until they tell you what the groups are. People of Color in tech, ok right off the bat that is a group for 10% of the cohort, next. Women in tech, ok definitely more people included in that one but still not even half, next. LGBTQ+ in tech, ok again a fairly small percent of the total cohort. Last is the Group for people suffering from mental illness and depression, again as far as I could tell a very small, if not non existent, percent of the cohort. So now at least 30% and likely more have been told to join Affinity Groups and how positive they are, but there is no group offered for them. Do I really care? No, I wouldn't have participated in that anyway, but it's far from what I consider inclusive, especially when they are mentioned quite frequently in the early days of bootcamp. I could go on for pages about how GC failed all expectation. The point is you can pay 1k max for an online program to teach you to code and it will be no worse than GC. You say well at least with GC there are real people I can ask questions to. Sorry, their policy is "ask Google" because that's what you'll have to do in the real world. As if we are all cavemen that have never used Google to find out something, so we need practice. Apparently I'll get plenty of practice in the real world, so what am I paying for again?? The real reason for ask Google is because the staff isn't nearly as qualified as they should be, likely because of the likely more than 3 million dollars they take in from classes, seminars and rented co-work space a year, the teacher make very little. Toward the end of my class I learned that my teacher had been the TA a year prior and a year prior to that she had been a student in my seat. I want a teacher that has years of experience in the real world, not some student stuck in the sad gravitational pull of GC. Again, don't waste your money, you may never see a return on any of it. No one is hiring GC students and the two companies that are, United Shore and Quicken Loans, will make you essentially sit through another 3 months of there nearly identical program, but at least then they pay you.
Honestabe: Critical:QualityA lot is promised here unfortunately a promise is not a guarantee.
steven kipus: A snare for people on par with Madonna university and Trump university
Jasmina Osmanovic: Great introduction to web development. Sharon was a very helpful instructor!
Travis Moore: The experience at NuCamp for the most part been very informative. I learned a lot and my instructor is very helpful. I look forward to the next course.
Esurance Solutions: RUN...save your hard earned $8,900! All of these positive reviews are posted by people working for Grand Circus or Graduates that were lucky enough to land a position which Grand Circus uses to prop up their website with success stories about. Ever wonder why you can't find reviews on Grand Circus? Even Google Reviews are mostly hidden unless you pull them up using the Google Map view of the company. Other academic websites that allow reviews on Grand Circus are closely monitored and GC takes down any attempt to discredit this scam program.Where to even start. Enrolled in the Front End Developer bootcamp. 1 month in they wanted to make our resumes look like we have technical experience and explained that we would be able to apply for technical positions that require 1-2 years experience with the training we would learn in the 3 month course.... the results were as expected. Out of a class of around 16 people, only 1 got a job in a junior front end developer position because they had been applying for positions for the past 2 years and had years of experience before taking the class... the rest went home after the class wrapped up and that was all she wrote. Grand Circus offered a couple people Teaching Assistant roles to possibly boost the confidence of the graduates and improve job placement numbers (which they make up anyways)... but once the course is over you leave with a piece of paper and a pat on the back, never to have a reason to drive back to Grand Circus or offered any assistance afterward finding a position (oh but they do continue sending you indeed job posts!). The positions they help you find are all posted on Indeed... they will blast you with around 20 positions they find on Indeed which is their way of suggesting they have affiliations and partnerships with companies.... Once you graduate and get your piece of paper that's it. They have nothing more to offer you and are done with you. You will have the ability to attend job bootcamps which is basically their way of sharing jobs they found online and you will also continue to get Indeed job postings sent to you if you haven't been removed from their distribution list, but that's it. The final project was a complete joke and didn't showcase anything an employer would be interested in. The classes and assignments are mostly crammed down your throat and you have to work in teams so that you can struggle figuring out how to code things with others without really learning anything. The exams are very stressful and showcase just how bad the programs are since most people fail them. Once you fail 3 exams you are kicked out of the program with no refund, again not much of a loss since you graduate with a piece of paper and expected to find a job on indeed on your own.Best advice, talk to REAL graduates of Grand Circus if you can find them. Go to their offices and chat with students walking in and out to get their honest thoughts. If you rely on Grand Circus to pair you up with a student or graduate they will have you talk to ones that either work at GC or graduates that they heavily promoted on their website with success stories that will not talk negatively or reveal the ugly truth of GC.
Janel Thompson: This place should be avoided. Their practices are predatory and they shamefully provide nothing positive for the community.Grand Circus is one of very few options in the Detroit area in terms of learning to code. They have presented themselves as being a part of the revitalization of Detroit. However, nothing could be further from the truth. After researching many boot camps I was hopeful about signing up. Initially, they sent out an email blast informing the public of their first come first serve Facebook scholarship which was to provide a free entry into the program for approx 25 Detroiters. After completing the application immediately upon receipt (first come first serve and all) I was invited in to discuss the program in more detail. As I waited I took in the general vibe of the place an observed a class in progress. Much to my surprise, not many faces of color to speak of. Raisin in a bowl of milk situation and Red flag # 1. The culture seemed FAF as if they were sizing me up to see if I would go for their BS or fit into their little group. I felt like I was on a tour for a timeshare. Still, I kept an open mind.Next, I went through a interview process and they explained how the the scholarship would work. The Switch???: not first come first serve, not accessible to Detroiters as they want a $1000 upfront to gain access to their course pre-work. If you fail the pre-work course they keep your money. Scholarships are given to those with the highest pre-work scores. Many folks applying to the program are not newbies and so you are competing with people who may have more coding experience than you. After most likely being denied the scholarship you are give the option to pay for the course yourself and the $1000 bucks will go toward it. Even if awarded the scholarship they keep your money through completion of the course so that you have some skin in the game, I guess.Final thoughts: Most of the students are from a suburb outside of Detroit. Duration of the boot camp is about 3 months (not long enough to learn to code). They farm you out to one of the companies they have an arrangement with. Those companies get cheap labor and you are stuck paying back a loan /income share agreement for what?Update: Thank you for your response Grand Circus, but the enrollment numbers that you're so proud of , (30% PEOPLE, OF COLOR ) do not reflect your claimed belief system or your community. These figures would be impressive in a State College, PA where the population is 83% white. However, this is insulting to a community that is 80% AFRICAN AMERICAN. Here are some more numbers for you. Detroit is the 2nd largest black city in AMERICA. Moreover, less than 13% of Detroiters in neighborhoods surrounding your business have a college degree. Travel out about 6 miles in any direction and you’ll find them, (Literally The Walking Dead.) These are the disenfranchised. These people represent the real Detroit continually denied entry into your program, denied access to jobs and denied a better quality of life.
Cristian James: I really can't say enough positive things about this school. It was truly a privilege to learn Java with Antonella, an exceptionally gifted teacher!! I went from working a string of service industry jobs to getting offered a position in tech the very same day the bootcamp ended. No bachelor's degree required! If you're ready to commit to an immersive learning experience, definitely consider taking a course here. Pro tip: The Career Services helped me every step of the way, do take advantage of the resources they provide. A+.
Amanda Didion: laid back environment. everyone is super helpful and always there for you.
Derien Stephens: I was a part of the December 2018 Java bootcamp and now currently work as a software developer - I couldn't be happier with my decision to attend Grand Circus. Excellent preparation/learning environment!
Leslie Borst: Great place to learn a new skill and gain a new career in technology. The staff and instructors are helpful and friendly and provide a great learning environment. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a career change into tech and development.
George Almonte: I see so many bad reviews here and I'm astonished, wondering what GC are they talking about? Cause Grand Circus at 1570 Woodward is awesome and incredibly supportive
Jazib N.: It’s been an incredible experience being a part of the boot camp and alumni here. If you’re willing to put the time and work in, the sky is the limit for you in terms of success. You will definitely make a ton of new connections and experience a ton of support from staff and fellow students.
