Angel Scott: I love this little hidden gem on Livernois. The portions sizes are HUGE. The food is hot, fresh, and completely delicious. There's always plenty of leftovers for the next day which is perfect for my little family. Also, the service is so fast and friendly. I wish I could eat here everyday!

Lisa Michelle Barry: Hands down the best Chinese takeout we’ve had in Michigan. Everything we ordered was flavorful and abundant. The crab Rangoon was excellent, the wonton soup was seasoned perfectly and generous (3 large wontons in the small size) and the almond chicken and sweet and sour chicken were fresh, delicious and absolutely HUGE. It’s already been more than 2 meals for our family of three. I can’t believe it took us two years to try it out, we’ll absolutely be back!

Sarah Cronin: The food is really bad. My kung po chicken was aweful. The food is so bland with no flavor, and strange non asia vegetables like cauliflower and other unknown stuff. They have the strangest cooking methods I've ever seen. First the ingredients are blanched in water, then broth? Then the entire thing is stir fried. The result is soft mushy vegetables, rubbery chicken with zero crispness or caramelization. This is second time I ordered a unique dish and same results. So strange if they just actually stir fried instead of boiling the ingredients it would be so much better. I can't recommend this place. It's a shame because the people are friendly and within walking distance of my home. Get a new cook and I wish you well.

QWEEN: Shangri La has a great atmosphere, delicious food and great service. The interior is well decorated and I love the second floor balcony overlooking the bar. The restaurant has good sake and amazing sushi.The desert options are very unique. My favorite is the fried cheesecake roll. The dish is a delicious mixture of European and Oriental cuisine. The restaurant is located in the heart of Midtown Detroit near Wayne State University.

Born A Bastard: Recently changed ownership.Service & speed has plummeted since new owners took over! Food was still magically delicious but waiting over an hour for anything is unacceptable! Used to be a favorite.Hopefully things get better once they're more acclimated. Bruce Hopkins: My previous review is below from a long time ago. I've been coming to Kwong Village since 2001. It has been the *BEST* spot for Chinese in Metro Detroit. I ordered food on NYE a few weeks ago and something drastically changed...my heart broke. There is another review or two below that describe the sweet and sour sauce as a gelatinous goop and sadly, that's right. It used to be a rich, sweet sauce that tasted like a thicker duck sauce. But it's really a gross gel now. Ugh. And the almond chicken! My go to! Was the only place I've been able to find almond chicken with the yellow sauce and not the brown gravy everyone else serves. This time it wasn't yellow. It was, idk, a pale tan. Like the color of a curly 90s telephone cord. And the consistency was pudding. Several years ago they did away with the salad shrimp for fried rice, which was fine. And they changed the general tso chicken, which was a major bummer. But this time I was so sad about the food we ordered.You get so much for paying so little! The best dishes are almond and general tso chicken, chicken lo mein, and jumbo fried shrimp. But really everything is delicious!

Matthew Dante: My first time to The Peterboro in Detroit’s now defunct Chinatown. Take a walk to the bathroom and you’ll see a hallway decorated with some of Detroit’s Chinatown past. Great touch! I had the pork dumplings and the chow fun noodles with beef. They were both great dishes. The dumplings came with a yummy umami sauce and the beef in the chow fun was so tender. Sarah was our server and she was spot on. Very attentive and friendly. I can wait to try the other dishes and experience more fine service.
Jessica Ellem: Service was great, mocktails were delicious. Really liked the mushroom dumplings and the ambience was nice. Only knocking a star because the thing I ordered didn’t have a spicy indicator when it definitely was, and I thought it was a bit pricy for my dish considering most of it was bean sprouts. Would have liked more noodles.

He made me his preferred gin cocktail, which included grapefruit juice, honey, and was both refreshing and delicious.
