Alexis Laek: DO NOT GO HERE. THERE ARE BETTER PLACES. DO NOT GO HERE!!!I went as a 24 yr old woman (now 25), seeking services and for an autism diagnosis. First of all, these people don't know what "masking" in autism is. RED FLAG.It took me over a year to complete my assessment. They told me I had PTSD (which I literally told them before the actual assessment) and a "possible slight attention problem" (I was diagnosed when i was a child with ADD, which I also disclosed to them before the assessment as well).They then had the audacity to tell me to go to therapy and come back in 24-36 months to be re-assessed and see how things changed. I told them I literally went to therapy for FIVE YEARS before SEEING THEM!!!! I bawled my eyes out. I begged to be seen again.I met with a different doctor, explained a laundry list of symptoms I relate to. Went in-depth with explanations. I wanted to be heard. I was yold by this doctor, "well we wont be retesting you, that would be absurd". I wasn't wanting a retest, I was wanting to be heard. I bawled my eyes out again.DO NOT GO HERE. They don't listen and they don't care. Their assessment was maybe 4 hours combined. I met with different people each time. They said they test with the "golden standard" and what they "observed from me" wasn't signs of autism. I met with various doctors every time. All except the actual assessment was tele-health. I didn't have time to get comfortable with my doctor.My friend (also a female adult with autism) had pretty much the exact same experience. She did finally get her diagnosis but it was hell on earth for her. She sent scientific articles left and right before they finally agreed to re-test her.They do not understand mental health and don't listen to you. As an informed adult, I was mortified. Please, if you have a child and want testing for said child or yourself, stay away.I will now be going elsewhere for testing, as I found a place who tests adults and does EXTENSIVE testing (up to 16 hrs) to come to their conclusions instead.

Joshua Rumble: Please understand that the state of mental health services in Michigan is dismal. The Imagine Center is one of the few that still does autism diagnosis in adults and they are extremely busy. They are also one of the few that take United Healthcare and other underrepresented insurances. My experience with them was very beneficial. They did their job well and I was able to get the help I need.Also please understand that most of the ratings for this office are coming from hurting, vulnerable people like myself. They are upset and in turmoil and may be finding it difficult to understand the limited resources that The Imagine Center has to work with.Please be kind and patient.

Cynthia Foster: Extremely upset with the services I received for my child, his evaluation was completed in May and I am just now receiving his report after months and months of phone calls, emails and voicemails. I would not recommended this practice to anyone for any kind of psychological needs. Unless you wait an hour plus in the waiting room, 20 minutes for an "evaluation" and months for results please go elsewhere. SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND MONEY!

Elli Nelson (Elli): 2 calls and 9 months later and they still haven't sent me a copy of my test results. Quite honestly losing hope of ever getting a proper diagnosis. It's so disheartening to have set back after set back. If you're a doctor you're supposed to give insite. All I've got is information I already knew and an increasing frustration with the medical industry. I needed answers and resources and got nothing but wasted time and stress.

Tisha E: I have two experiences here one for myself one for my daughter. my daughter was very young the first time we went here he recommended coming back when she was a little older as he do not want to miss diagnosed and when her epilepsy was more controlled, life happens but we finally came back some years later our feedback results was with Dr.Behen himself he gave us the feedback results while we were still on the phone to insure that I got them, we had appointment reminders and everything for her now my experience I've only gotten an appointment reminder for two out of the three visits I text the person who administrated my exam to make sure I was correct with my feedback date and time, the counselor who gave me my feedback results was late to our appointment but I can understand that, things happen she said she was going to email me my results which hasn't happened, now mind you my feedback was November 3 it is now December a whole entire month later I have called the office multiple times left multiple voicemails I know with their system if you do not push the # your voicemail will not go through but by me knowing this I know to push it so I know my voicemails are going through I even emailed Thursday of last week it is now Tuesday which is 4 business days with no reply back so if you are not getting your feedback results with Dr behan himself you probably will not get your feedback paperwork which me and my doctor cannot start a treatment plan until he has the specialist paperwork I'm stuck in limbo until I get my feedback paperwork.

Jessica P: Its been over a month and we still haven't received paperwork for our results appointment. That means we've waited over TWO months for our results. Meanwhile, my child is denied school services. I've called and still nothing. Completely unacceptable. These doctors are paid more than enough to do their work in a timely manner.

Khadigah A: STAY AWAY. I have contacted them over and over again to receive the final evaluation and am being completely ignored. My insurance has paid them hundreds; they conducted the evaluation and debrief and then have just disappeared off of the face of the planet. How extremely reckless. I am in need of this documentation. I still have yet to hear a reply or receive anything and it has been several months now. I cannot believe the lack of professionalism.

Emily Redman: If your child has learning delays, and you are considering an evaluation with this center in hopes of finding some answers, please do yourself a favor and RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION! You will not find definitive or detailed answers to your child's delays. I requested an evaluation due to my child having learning delays. I already knew she had some kind of learning disability. What I didn't know was the why behind her delays. The purpose of a neuropsychological test is to help pinpoint specific causes behind a learning delay. The only conclusion the evaluator came up with after evaluating my daughter's test was that she had a learning delay in math, spelling, and reading (which I already knew). The cost of finding out nothing, other than what I already knew and why I sought out the testing in the first place, came to $2,230. That is big price tag for literally no new information. To say I am angry and disappointed is a gross understatement. I have never written a negative review for anyone before, but felt I needed to forewarn other parents who may be desperate enough to try their luck. Also, I still don't have a physical copy of her testing or evaluation results, even though I have contacted the office via email and over the phone. Her testing occurred in December 2021 and I have received nothing in print. I saw the negative reviews and thought maybe they were a few disgruntled patients. Now I wish I would have listened to their complaints.

CARLA HOPSON: I expected results of the assessment. I was told I would get those results via email. After weeks went by I called the office and was told they would be sent via email 10 days after the assembly findings appointment. We are approaching 30 days and still no result. But it seems they sent a report to my daughter’s school with no release of info. I’m not happy

Randi Myles: Everyone at the Imagine Center has been kind during the intake, when we could get a call back, and in person but now I'm reading all these reviews saying that the staff never returns phone calls and questioning what is really going on.After a lengthy evaluation (in person) then diagnosis' (via zoom) we were told the doctor would send my son an email of his results and resources to get the help he needs. We were very excited to finally have answers to what has been going on for years. The therapist and clinical assessment director were wonderful to us and very kind but It's been weeks and we are still waiting.***Update*** We finally got the information we were waiting for and now we will move on with the resources. Though I appreciate everything... they are incredibly slow to respond so please be aware of that when seeking their services.

Barbara Calhoun: Dr. Michael E. Behen, is one of the best in his field, his demeanor is of such that offers a calming effect. While dealing with the Board of Education in making sure that adequate accomodations and necessary skills and techniques were being put in place for my child's IEP, Dr. Behen was though and helped me relax as the parent during a very stressful time. But ....make sure you are prepared in advance, is there a long wait for an appointment alot of times yes because the best are usually booked so be prepared to wait, it's worth it . Will there be lots of questions yes, but don't you want a though examination. Do you have to wait for the results in my experience yes, but glad I did. You will receive professional, quality service just remember not to panic if you have an appointment during this pandemic and the office doesn't call you exactly at your appointed time, they will and you will find Dr. Behen has a way of making you feel like your his only client, while he gives you his under divided attention.

Mary Berry: This is a garbage place that failed me in my time of most need. Their therapists aren’t that good and I asked them for 6 months for a couples counselor and they would string me along until my marriage ultimately ended and I never got the help I needed. I am devastated.Their front desk people never call back.Their therapists aren’t very good.Their tests are incompetent. Don’t expect real help from this garbage business.

Ella: I was referred here from Wayne state after a traumatic accident. After waiting months for a therapist/appointment and an evaluation that they weren’t very forth coming on what it was for I finally did a few zoom meetings. I liked my therapist, but then! After 3-4 meetings she canceled our appointments due to a sudden “family emergency” and then after she texted me again to tell me she no longer worked with imagine center. I called and was paired with another therapist and after one session she canceled our second one due to “a family emergency” again and said she’d reschedule. Well i got a text today “ I am leaving The Imagine Center due to personal reasons” and I’ve lost a second therapist in months! I don’t know if they have a high turn overrate or what. But I’d never recommend this place and I’ll be calling Wayne state to tell them to do the same.

Peter Barlow: General rule: if you don't tell the client what the protocols are, you don't get to argue with the client because you didn't tell them the protocols. Own your mistakes.

Andre Saikai Gomes: I would gave 0 stars but in order to do this review, i need to check at least one. Horrible and unprofessional doctor. Please don't go there. We went there following the recommendation in order to help us. We were desperate for help and this Fella used his position to take advantage of us to bill our insurance. Terrible doctor.. Called many times to complete our assessments. Every time i had to beg to have my sessions completed which was never done in one single step. The last appointment to finally get our report, the feedback was inconclusive and he wanted to do one more hour and i'm waiting since them. Three calls, and every single time i have to remember him why my case is open and beg him to finish. The only thing these guys are good is to send bills. I don't know what are you going thorough but if i can tell u this, please try to find another doctor. You will be like me sitting for 4 months waiting to someone to call you to just to complete something which was supposed to be done in weeks.Looking the other comments i can see the problems to get the final report. Totally what I call a waist of time.

Nicole Brien: I am surprised at the reviews I saw. First of all, my son’s autism diagnosis took almost two years. I told my pediatrician that I was concerned bc of his lack of response to his name and the fact that he was uninterested in interaction with other children. He then sent us to a neurologist and an ENT to make sure there were no hearing impairments.I was then referred by my son’s pediatrician to the Imagine Center. My son’s pediatrician was very impressed with Dr. Behen’s depth of knowledge and research on the matter.You can easily access his CV {curriculum vitae} through Wayne State University’s website. If you have doubts, you will see that he is a Clinical Psychologist/Neuroscientist at the Translational Imaging Center at Children’s Hospital of Detroit, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Neurology Department, not to mention he is an active researcher and has published several of his studies since 2006. Dr. Behen is more than qualified in the matter of ASD. Furthermore, he is also the Director of The Imagine Center for Psychological Health.I have been with The Imagine Center throughout this process. Intake was simple, the psychologist that evaluated my son said that it was still very early to diagnose autism, but recommended speech therapy and to revisit in 1 year.I took him for a second intake in January of 2020. The second appointment was an observation, which was longer than the initial intake appointment with another psychologist - that took place in February 2020. We had a follow up virtual observation (COVID) in April.Dr. Behen then called me in May and discussed my son’s results. He talked about the different therapies - ABA and also early intervention with his school district. He provided me with a list of recommendations where ABA is offered and even provided the phone numbers. I found Dr. Behen to be very thorough, extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. He wants the best for his patients as much as the parents do. I highly recommend The Imagine Center and Dr. Behen!As far as the other reviews that complain of the wait time in the office - don’t you want the psychologists to spend the extra time with your child to get a thorough assessment that leads to an accurate diagnosis? Yes, you may have to wait.Regarding your report and diagnosis - once you take into account how busy Dr. Behen is (see CV described above), and how thorough his report is, you will understand why you may have to wait a month to get your report. Expect the wait. In turn, you will get a thorough report, diagnosis, plan of action and yearly re-evaluations.
