Jesse: A complete SCAM! I entered a contract and paid a deposit to owner to demolish a house and instead he has completely ignored any attempt to get in contact with him, including email, phone calls, and text messages. He made promise after promise before signing a contract with him and giving him a deposit. Afterwards however, he made one excuse after another as to why he is delaying getting started on the demolition process. After three months of this going back and forth, I finally told him that if he can't get started within the next week, that I want my deposit back. Instead of coming to a resolution, he just decides to cut off all communication with me. In the three months dealing with him, he changed his phone number on three separate occasions, which should have been a red flag to began with. However, at that point, I had already signed the contract and paid the deposit, so I was in too deep and was just hoping just hoping for the best. If anything, I'm just so thankful that I only gave hime a $1,000 deposit and not the 50% of total cost that he initially wanted upfront. Unfortunately I have to file a lawsuit against him for such a small amount, but if there's one thing I can't stand, it's dishonest people. So if I can prevent him from scamming others the same way that he scammed me, then it's worth it to go through the lengthy process.
