It's the kind of place that gives you that "Mom & Pop" feeling that makes you feel comfortable and very welcome. It reminds me of "Harry's" Hardware Store from the old TV show "Home Improvement". I am now updating my review to reflect my recent visit on 3/22/23.The owner was rude and argumentative toward me and all I wanted was a replacement of a dimmer that didn’t work. I kept my cool and just accepted never again. I did buy some items from the store and he didn’t charge me for one small item. So my total loss was only $2. But never again!!Who argues over $8. Costumer service is non existent and especially for someone that is there almost every month.As for the gentleman in the back counter (not the black guy). HE IS THE WORST!I will drive now out of my way but won’t be back for even a bag of chips.The ladies at the counter are the BEST. The owner needs to watch and learn from them. For folks in the neighborhood there is a great store on Livernois / off the Lodge that understands the customer is always right!So needless to say, DON’T GO WHERE YOUR BUSINESS IS RESPECTED!These comments below are 3 months old.Great service. B Liss: Stopped in to buy some "pollinator seedlings" (milkweed, etc). Was surprised at all they had to offer. Exceptional, unique gift shop area! Walked away with paper leaf bags, hard to find seed packets and a birthday gift for my sister...a turquoise and an opalite stone..(she's into healing crystals)! Nice, friendly staff. Noticed they do "sharpening", so when someone asked on Nextdoor today, l recommended Hood's.

x: They always have the best solutions to any problems I ever run into with home repairs and they are more than happy to help you find anything your looking for. The prices are better than most hardware stores and if anything does cost more than Lowes or home Depot then it's not by very much and it saves me the long wait in line and having to go deal with all the traffic. I'm glad I have that luxury so thanks for all of the help and convenience your store has given me and my family over the years.

Bob Bucala: Yes, it’s a clean store with decent stock.They tend to chase you around the store. You are not allowed to browse! No less than three people are falling over you to help you. Which isn’t always welcome. You’d think they would want you to browse and spend more than you came in for, this is not the case. They want you in and out.Don’t bring a kid in the store. They are so afraid your kid might break one of their candles for sale.I’m now a very solid Jerry’s Ace customer.

Christopher Rich: Went to the hardware store for extension cord and grinder blades. They had everything in stock I needed but when I went to cash out I asked about military discount the man said yes and tried to apply it he told me to put my debt card in now. So I did it the cash register claimed denied but the the card device said approved. He told me to put it in again I told him it was already approved and I pulled the transaction up on my bank app showing it was approved. He claimed not on the cash register side. So I asked for the manager and he told me to put my card back in and do another transaction with it. I told him no I already paid for the stuff and not going to paid again. He said at the end of the day he would deny the one transaction and only charge me for the one transaction. I said no I want a refund it that’s the case and claimed they couldn’t do a refund because the cash register denied the transaction. Why does it show the transaction on my bank side as a pending transaction? He couldn’t answer the question he just wanted me to pay him again for the items. So I called my bank to have them file a complaint. Will never step back into the hardware store ever again. They lost my company’s business.
