Constance Colando: We were helping our son move and he had some items to donate like old towels, sheets, pillow cases. These were all items this wonderful shelter could use. They even accepted a large stainless steel wastebasket that they said could be used in their shelter. The people I met were very helpful and it seemed well staffed. Even though this is a newer facility, they are already expanding. There must be a need and they certainly are there helping animals in need of good loving homes.
Derrick Ray: can load your debit card and with food I was looking for
Mr. Unknown: Horrible, took my lost cat and when I informed them about it with proof and evidence they never responded and sold my cat.
Scaredy Cats: Wanted to give FAMD a five start rating, because we've had nothing but great experiences with them. A few years ago, we brought my brother in law there to get his first pet ever and she is fantastic. The staff and volunteers were all so caring for the animals, and it shown. On April first, we came back for a cat of our own. We wanted to help a kitty that had been there for a bit, and their excitement over her getting her forever home was the sweetest thing. We've only had her for a couple days now, and she's such a loving girly. You can tell she was much loved while there, by the staff and volunteers. They let us stay past closing to finish up the paperwork and helped us with borrowing a carrier to fit her, since ours was too small. Would always recommend theese guys, they care for and love the animals for sure and are here to help them find their furrever homes.
Barb Saleh: Caring staff. Neat and clean.
chris jones: They are strict in a good way.
GalacticstationFM: Very friendly staff here
Jeri ONeill: Great people doing great work.
carolyn molnar: Everyone is knowledgeable and helpful.
Tamara Bolden: Great staff, very nice 💗We love our new cat bubbly .
Aaron Landfair: They have good staff and all around good help
Shimeka Williams: Come and get this Lovely animal ❤
Eda Komora: Called this place looking for assistance to rehome a dog. Someone did call back to say they had no space for him. This is the only place I called that day, that actually acknowledged and returned my call.
mariam Jaber: They have cute animals and all the workers are so nice
Omda Hakeem: They are okay but too much
the Chateau: they'll refuse to give you the animal you pick, they will claim its taken.
Juan Charleston: Well I have Adopted 2dogs from them and I love them both and they get alone really good with each other and my kids love them I have a Blue nose pitt and a brindle pit that I got from friends for Animals of Metro Detroit
Carlos: All amazing people here ! Relaxed environment to walk around and look at cats! Plenty of good pets to go around!! Adopt ! Went to adopt a cat and had a fantastic experience! All shots and medical things taken care of . Highly recommend
Jeffrey Payton: I adopted my forever fur baby 2 years ago from here and can not thank you enough. Since the pandemic hit and we were forced to work from home I waited almost a year to be able to find a dog to adopt. When sparrow became available I jumped at adopting her. Very glad to have her as part of our family. If I could I would adopt all unwanted dogs.
blackmoom: Adopted a cat from this shelter last weekend, and it was an excellent experience! I had adopted my previous cat from there also, and sadly she had passed away. Facility is great and the volunteer staff are outstanding 👍. Highly recommend!
rory lake: If I could rate it 0 stars I would. The worst animal shelter ever!!

lashe lewis: I thought they helped you, and maybe they do if you have money ,let me say enough money. UPDATE!!! I THINK ALL THE REVIEWS ARE GENERATED BY EMPLOYEES, THIS PLACE HAS NEVER BEEN A REAL HELP TO ANYONE I KNOW. IF YOU'RE NOT talking MONEY THEIR NOT LISTENING. ALL THE ADVERTISEMENTS ARE LIES TO ME MY EXPERIENCE IN PERSON AND OVER THE PHONE. The One On 75 ,I've had no experience with other locations, maybe they using their reviews. I called about stray cats, stray cat with litter and my original post was about my miniature Doberman whereas others have called and they responded, maybe the other locations
Tammy Cryderman: We adopted a 2 year cat from them. They were really nice and you could tell they really care about the animals
A D: staff is kind and friendly and do absolutely everything for the animals here. the facility is the cleanest I've ever seen!
Emma H: Awesome staff members!!
Jack Noble: They were very thorough, explained everything that was wrong with our pet. They couldn't take care of the problem, but gave us a list of qualified surgeon.
Kandice D: What a great addition to the family. He is so playful, talktive and loveable.
Eric Jackson: No response to my call about a stray I found

damonsalvatore269: Thank you for answering all my crazy questions I know I had a lot. Brand new puppy people on this is definitely the place to go. I love my baby Bruno and yes I do talk about him.
K L: I can't thank #michiganhumanesociety enough for being there, not only for myself, but for the animals, and other humans who have furbabies, when they need it!
Madison Jarrett: The staff in the veterinary side is the absolute best we had to put our dog to sleep here and they took great care of not only him but us as well
Vicky: Excellent facility.

Theresa Lecours: Great staff and volunteers adot don't shop
Denise Straksys: They were friendly and helpful we brought a injured squirrel but they don't take squirrels who are injured but they told us where we could go.
Chris Ropeman: Unorganized
mike murphy: I adopted kara last year
Todd Farrand: I truly admire the work the volunteers do.I could take home 1 or 2 pooches every time.
April W: The female that answers the phone needs to be trained in communication and customer service. Just because it’s “the city” does not mean ignorance is acceptable or going to be tolerated. Please hire someone who is compassionate and actually cares about abandoned animals. Do BETTER city of DETROIT. NOT Aaliyah ! She is really good.
Hadwan Hadwan: Staff is deplorable, completely disrespectful and unprofessional. Tried to bring in a stray dog before kids in the neighborhood get hurt or the dog gets hit by a car. Instead of directing me somewhere where I can take the dog they wanted to act like fools and try gotcha questions to just get you to leave, they could care less about the dogs well-being. Shame on them
Ty B.: I had found a pack of 5 dogs roaming the street and had called to see if they were able to help me catch them I was told it would take 24/48 hours to see any results and every time I put one in my car they would jump right back out
Emma: -100000000000000 stars. Called at 1130 am Monday. This lady was nasty as soon as she answered the call and I waited over 20 minutes in a queue. I have a rescue that will help me take in the dog, but apparently they don't help catch dogs you just make a "complaint" which I wasn't trying to do. And they come out within a few days to come get the dog.
Carolyn Stuart: Everyone there was amazing!
Reva Kovaleski: Ghetto none educated low class workers can’t go in came with 3 very sick kittens called before hand spoke to the people in the building not the call line was told I could bring them was refused to take them because my address is redford Detroit and not just Detroit then was told that I would be ticketed if I just left them by a boy with a little fro and glasses and a confused LITTLE BOY with 2 tone hair he was very angry, & irate screaming up and down the block. Walked up on me I have a video that I since made a police report on for him threatening me on. Was told by the police station legally they can not refuse a animal if they have room also was told that I would not receive a ticket if I had left Them the confused little boy was aggressive and I could have left them. All because his parents didn’t teach him respect now he is going to have a case. Because the police I am not allowed to share the photos and videos.
Eric Jackson: No response to my call about a stray dog I found.
LaDena Brantley: We had a stray cat in our garage that was in need of serious medical attention. We called them to come and get the cat for two days. They told us that they won't pick up the cat unless it was confined in a box or container. We took the necessary steps into confining the cat and call them back and told we did and to send them back to pickup the cat....they never came to get the cat. Unfortunately the cat died in container in our garage.
Shalene Owen: I have adopted two dogs 6 months apart. The latest dog in February. They have been the best dogs that I ever have had! The staff was awesome and very easy to work with. Please adopt, don't shop.
Sally Raphael: Thank you awesome service at the event. top notch from all the volunteers in finding my best friend.
AppleBear: Got a nice 2 yr old puppy. My daughter named him Star. Wasn't too happy that I wasn't allowed to walk through & see the doggies. I sat in a room & had to pick only 2 out of a catalog. Luckily I did pick an awesome tempered dog🐕
Eric Brooks: Friendly
Angelica G: The supervisor is rude and they do kill animals here
Amy Wood: Shout out to Detroit Animal Care and Control, especially Renena who on her personal time saved a Neighborhood loose dog that has been terrorizing many and running loose on a daily basis. What a shame that this is all because off very irresponsible owners. Prayers to all and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lacina Davis: They didnt help at all
Leota Johnson: I'm so glad they are open 7 days a week. No way can I not register my dogs.

Krustallos Williams: PLEASE PEOPLE READ REVIEWS BEFORE RELINQUISHING YOUR PETS TO THIS ORGANIZATION. THE ADOPTION SIDE (0🌟-RATING) IS COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO THEIR NAME. MI ANTI-CRUELTY SOCIETY ARE CRUEL AND SENSELESS. THEY WILL IMMEDIATELY KILL DOGS, CATS, ETC ONCE IN THEIR POSSESSION. YOUR PETS WILL DO BETTER ROAMING THE STREETS THAN TO BE SENT HERE! AT LEAST THEY WILL BE ALIVE. OPERATIVE WORD "ALIVE"!NONETHELESS, THE VET SIDE (5🌟-RATING) IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. MAC'S VET ADJACENT TO ADOPTION TRULY CARE FOR YOUR PETS. WHICH BEGS THE QUESTION, IF THEY ARE THE SAME ENTITY/ORGANIZATION BECAUSE THEY OPERATE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
Jackie Inman: We had a stray momma kitty die outside after she gave birth and the shelter took the kittens in the day after and helped us. We take care of a lot of Cats over on the 9500 block of Auburn and when I say they helped us they really came through and for that these people are loved. I couldn’t recommend this facility any more. They are fantastic living professionals ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😻😻😻😻
Kim L: Such a positive experience adopting my dog! So helpful and kind! Love my girl!!!
R Pierson: They went above and beyond. Please if you can donate. They are the most caring and have so much compassion. They help me through a heartbreaking time . When other vet. told a me that i could let him die on the floor or I had to wait days. But They got me in the same day and were so nice to me and my dog..
Oxi Fresh: Fast, efficient and friendly. Takes good care of my pets.
John padilla: Very good to pets.
M H: great people and cause ..... send donations
Toria Smith: very friendly
Effie Gordy: Services are priced cheaper than the Vet's office👍🏾 but, they need a waiting room.
Rachel Navarro: I was being required to spayed my animals just to get on the food program. I was spoken to in a nasty judging manner when I called to schedule them in. Make it make sense, this lady working the phones tues 1/24/23 at 10:34 was very rude to me. All of a sudden it changed to me having to pay when I am low income and their requirements are made and now I’m responsible to pay I will just go to another program and leave my thoughts here. The Michigan human society gives food to low income households every Tuesday and Thursday before 2pm with a state medical or orange card (bridge). And also have low spaying prices. This place needs to retrain their employees because I know the information that was given to me, so my follow up call I should not have been treated as less than a person because I was seeking help.
DEANNA CAVER: I was short on funds and they helped me with dog food and treats. My dog has been under their care for vaccines and care for over three years. We love them!
Jeffrey Knight: Very good work
Lady Michelle Johnson: Open Tuesday through Saturday to the public to get free supplies for your pets.
Yaqoub Nagi: horrible customer service and will PUT YOUR PET DOWN!
Roro A: THE WORST! I had to give away my 3 cats to them because I couldn’t take care of them at the current time. I call the next week to check on them and they said they put them down!!! Wa in the world I thought they were giving them away to other ppl not putting them down! Our whole family was literally heartbroken!
Victoria Harris: Very Caring
Eric Z: They take feral cats in.
Deborah Hogans: They keep my furbaby healthy
Cindy Martin: Caring staff..
C.P. Trischitta: When sressed out over my daughter's pup, your vet and staff came through, diagnosed the problem and didn't make us choose between dog and dollars. Thank you.
Charletta Wells: Very nice, helpful and truly care about the well being of our cats.... They made my daughter and I feel at ease knowing our kittens will be loved and cared for and placed in good homes

Rob Sims: Great place to volunteer. 😊
Kim Farnum: EVERY ANIMAL DESERVES A LOVING HOME.ADOPT DON'T SHOP💥
Lisa G: Wonderful kind volunteers and counselors who truly care for the beautiful dogs health and happiness .GREAT ORGANIZATION.I highly recommend them
Craig Pawlowski: People working there are fantastic...very patient with people wanting to adopt, and wonderful with the animals they take care of. Definitely would suggest people who want to adopt a dog or cat to go here first!!!
Micheal Thompson: A Little Confusing
Nathan Beatty: We are volunteers and fosters for this rescue. Good and caring people run this rescue.
Tommyboy Mooser: They love dogs! We've rescued two using their services this past year. ❤️
Mary Lukas: Someone told me about an awesome rescue place unlike your usual shelter. I had some leftover cat stuff to donate, so I dropped by and checked them out. I was greeted with cheerfulness, very upbeat! I liked the atmosphere, the warmth and energy so much, I became a volunteer to be part of this wonderful group. Also, after I took a tour and training, I saw how well run they are and the animals are calm and well cared for. I decided to adopt a beautiful white cat. And it's been the best $25 (adoption fee) I've ever spent! So when it comes to shelters, I hit the jackpot. Got an awesome cat and a great cause to contribute my time and energy to. they are truly dedicated and you will get a great quality pet!
Paul: 10/10 would recommend!!I got a call back the very next day after submitting my application. Andrea was awesome and when I got to visit, everyone there was helpful and kind. You can tell from the adoption process they really make sure these animals end up in safe and loving homes! Adopt, Don't Shop!!
Bobby Hamilton: Love the staff here , they are amazing people!
Al: My wife and I adopted two kittens that are sisters from the same liter. Both descriptions on the kittens were lies, listed good with dogs, that was a lie, both kittens have never seen a dog before. The kittens were bonded, and that was not listed on the description for the kittens and its clearly evident, that breaking them up, would have been devastating for both of them.. We specifically asked for a list of cats that were living in a home with dogs, and never gotten a response. It wasn't until after we adopting the kittens to give them a chance, when we learned they've never seen a dog before, and none of the information on the cats is correct. When we called management to verify and ask for advice, the response was they are kittens, they'll adapte to living with a dog, when it was clearly evident, both cats would do best in a quiet, none active home with no dog. None of the cats are spayed, excuse is supposedly their vet is 8 weeks behind and one of the cats has gone in heat. When we showed up to fill out the paperwork to adopt the kittens, the staff was lost at what needed to be filled out and had no clue that we were there to fill out the paperwork. First and Last time dealing with this rescue, we had better luck from Macomb Animal Shelter.
Kylie McAuley: Found my puppy here!
Janice Mieczkowski: I lost my dog in the people brought her back to me the girl was a very nice woman
Linda Day - Gurniak: We adopted our Chucky from I heart really love him. They took good care of him.
Kris Linkswiler: Our family went to a pet adoption event & finally chose a puppy. They looked over the app & said there shouldn't be any issues. I got an email a few days later & we were denied due to a vet check. Once I realized that our last dog had my maiden name, I notified immediately & no response. I tried calling but saw on the website they were not taking any calls only email. It has been a couple weeks & still nothing after sending several emails & FB messages. I guess they rather keep all their pets there instead of being adopted to a good home.
Jenni Maharidge: We adopted our puppy Coben (formally Casper) almost a year ago and they made the process so easy. Here's our baby now. So happy. Loves our trips to the dog park 4x a week minimum. Our walks. And absolutely adores all of my kids. He was a perfect fit to our family.
Terry Paulk: This is what I think of this place 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
Amanda Rose: Adopted a dog here that definitely needed more time working with a foster or experienced rescues before he was adopted out to anyone. I reached out for help and got a very generic response telling me to try things I had already stated I tried to do to help the situation. When I replied; radio silence to this very day. Luckily I do believe once you adopt a dog it's a life commitment, no matter how hard it is and have not given up on him 2 years later but it's sad that this rescue doesn't make sure their dogs are ready for adoption and continue to help families that adopt from them.
Jms: They are deticated and they do amazing work for the animals that are in their care
Liz Nowicki: Good for All they do I donated all My cans today...you all deserve it for taking care of them babies
Paula Steele: We have rescued two dogs from I Heart Dogs and everyone was so supportive and helpful during the adoption process. They do amazing work for so many animals in need. If you’re looking for a rescue pet, I highly recommend them. 👍🏻👍🏻

Majowl Keith: I like going to the pet pantry they give out (Free Dog/Cat food) Also if I need Straw Hay for my Dog and Straw Hay her dog house they give you 1 up to 4 bundles I sure appreciate the pet pantry The economy has truly gotten worse and although food prices have went extremely higher Dog/Cat food has too and the pet pantry is a big help they are open every Tuesday Stating At 9Am to 1pm I Suggest you pull Up Early Because The Line is always Wrapped Around the block But it's Worth The Wait

Elizabeth Hotham: Fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff as well as the volunteers are phenomenal, the customer service and friendliness couldn't have been any better. The atmosphere is very warm, welcoming and the toys, beds, accessories etc make you feel like you're in a cats paradise! Upon adoption, any questions we had were answered and any information they had was given to us. Now knowing they're mostly funded on donations and run by a lot of volunteer work, I'll be looking into doing both. If you're looking to adopt or donate I'm sure this organization would be grateful.
Shelby Herron: Nothing much to be said. Rude and judgy, find a different local rescue to adopt from!
chell noff: Wonderful cat adoption home. These kitty's are very well taken care of. We need more like this organization. They have it right
Isabella Murahj: We picked up two beautiful black kitties today. The entire process was fantastic. Their foster mom was so amazing and I'm so happy they were in such good hands before we brought them home. We already adore them, and are so very grateful for this amazing shelter!
Smile C.: They are doing a great job caring for homeless kittens and cats.
Journey Jay Journee Rehnlund: I just adopted Peter today a (senior cat) and the volunteers there are incredible people. Me and my mom really adore him and love him to death already! When I brought him home, I expected him to hide out but now he is laying on my bed and eating. He is eating and drinking, and feels right at home. Thank you for rescuing him from the Toledo Humane society from death row and finding his fur-ever home, I'm so blessed. I will always let people know about your shelter and I wish I knew about it sooner. God bless all of you! Thank you for all you've done for the cats!
Joann Kok: This is where I got my cat Ralph. The staff is great, and it is a great atmosphere to get to know your new family member
Quartz Kitten: Great shelter for cats. The workers are great and the overall atmosphere is amazing

Kimberly Stankiewicz: All Male dogs. My dog prefers female dogs.
Gregory Kotlarczcyk: You got Grego we were there to find out if they let Donations like old towles Dog Toys that general idea then this One guy came out said they didThe parking is on the street in front The other entrences are blocked if not for the Volunteers only that we know yet they have Cats only inside tge Dogs needed twenty four hour some body in there with them
Linn Matich: I loved this place. Cats free to move all over. Some sitting and watching all the movement of the other cats and people in the room.
Ricardo Tapia: Adorable animals
Amber Huyghe: Very wonderful home for the kitties while they are waiting for their perfect human

Robin Elliott: The girl at the window is really sweet. We talked about grandma 😉
Patty McDowell: Best place to adopt a pet, people are very friendly and helpful!
Scott Lowran: Great people!
Lucinda Osborne: Very fast friendly staff! Get your license ♥️
Bryce McDowell: After 6 years of patience, I finally found the dog I've been looking for! Reno, the 9 month old Golden Retriever, appeared one day here at the Taylor Animal Shelter. I sprung into action and bought him the next morning! In the process, I saw that the workers here absolutely care for the animals they house. They know them as personally as they know animals in a general sense! It was my first time adopting, and everything was laid out clearly and quickly. Efficient but caring - does it get better?
Brandon Allen: They were super nice and I love my cat. They named him Groucho and I kept the name because it’s super cute. Everything has been great!
Cindy Morisette: The staff as well as the volunteers are amazingly awesome people. It takes a special kind of someone to do what they all do on a daily basis. Idk the girls name that is always at thw front desk..but she is super sweet and seems to genuinely love her job..and it shows. A huge thank you to everybody at the Taylor Animal Shelter. You all are truly angels on earth.
Madz: Went there to drop off a donation & the 2 lady’s behind the desk were super rude. Unfortunately I didn’t catch their names, but older blonde ladies. I stood there for about 5 minutes with them both right there, with their backs to me before they finally stopped their conversation to turn around. I told them I wasn’t sure where to leave it because there were no signs at the back. All I got was “first door” no thank you or anything. I honestly wanted to leave & take my donations to another shelter where it would have been appreciated but I do it for the animals, not the people. Which is lucky for the employees or nobody would go here
George Watkins: Super clean, good people
John Meimaridis: To loud
Nick: Called this shelter to ask a few questions about surrendering a neighbors animal because he could no longer take care of it. They were VERY rude to me. The Michigan humane society told me the same thing except they did it in a calm and professional way. I'd avoid this shelter if possible.
Dougie Chico: I love this place .a good please to meet a good cuddly friend
Amanda “AJ” D: I adopted my male dog from here 12 years ago. Wonderful staff . There are lots of beautiful animals looking for a foreverhome !!! Please come and check them out
danwallaceorg: Clean. Friendly and caring staff.
Jamie Hicks: We got our dog Bobo from the shelter 11 years ago he is one of the best dogs we've ever had! Bobo is the black dog.
Kate Jolly: Rescued a cat that's been living in a neighbors shed, so I brought it to the shelter because their website states they take stray & injured animals. I was told that they would likely put him down because they don't have a vet onsite to exam him, even though their website states they they are a no kill shelter.
Sharon Smith: There were a lot of pits there and other dogs to there was a lady there taking them outside and walking some of them they had some cats and they had a lady in there cleaning the cages and feeding them so the cats didn't want to be bothered they just stayed in the back of the cages but the dogs were a little older and no puppies at all but all in all it was a nice vist I even talked to the workers which I like there they have alot of information they can tell you about the animals and other things also .
Cynthia Blakeslee: Everyone were wonderful and animals were well took care of
David Grimmett: I love stopping by when I can and seeing what's available and occasionally take a dog for a walk and the staff is friendly and helpful.
julie purdy: Fun and friendly
Janice Wands: Wonderful People There lots of Beautiful Animals looking for a foreverHome !!! Please come and check them out ❤

Grant Munyon: The people running this organization feel like the type of folks who really like holding HOA positions.Helpful tip: if you plan to let the cat outdoors AT ALL, even if it's primarily an indoor cat, either don't apply here or don't mention it to them. My current cat is very much an inside cat, but she likes to go outside and rest under the patio furniture and get some sun and air. I've always been very careful with her, of course, but it's a system that's worked since she was a kitten. I mentioned this to them and that I would evaluate the new kitten in the same way - i.e., whether it was a good idea for her to be able to go out - and I could tell immediately it was a deal killer. To be clear, it's not the policy that I mind - I understand that some people don't think it's wise to let cats outside. PAAW should of course have whatever policies they want. That said, if it's a hard and fast agency rule, they should make that clear from the outset - I spent a fair amount of time filling out their app, finding a cat, alerting my friends and vets that they'd be calling for references, etc., and it was just a waste of time. Bad approach to this on their part; bad customer service.
Jordan: Will not respond to requests to be called. They literally refuse. Between the anonymous person we dealt with for an adoption via email and the combative old woman that answers the phone and talks over you, I feel terrible for these animals. They deserve better. They've been through enough and deserve people that are willing to do what it takes to find them a loving home. Shame on you two. You are speaking on their behalf and are failing them. They deserve better.
Verona H.: Animals are all 5 stars, but the people are 0.Me:-volunteered at The Bat Zone in BH, caring for 14 species of Bats, a dozen other wild animals, for 2 years,-volunteered with Noah's Ark in Las Vegas, we rescued dogs on their last day in high-kill shelters, where we then did adoptions at Petsmart in Henderson,-worked as a Vet Assistant at Banfield in Petsmart in Summerlin, LV-volunteered & worked at the Zoo outside Vegas, past Red Rocks,-have been an Emergency Volunteer for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in UT. I travel, with 100% my own money, to places after Disasters, such as Hurricanes, to help rescue pets, provide Vet services, food, shelter, etc.-ran Cat Rescue in LV, ended up moving back to MI, where I single-handedly moved THREE CHI'S & NINE RESCUE CATS from Vegas to Detroit, by myself.***I am also legally Hard of Hearing due to an AA Disease.***I have a Bachelors from UNLV & Masters from Wayne State. These women are going to tell ME.....what?My senior Siamese mix angel kitty got sick, turned out she had advanced stomach cancer.I spent over $900 to save her, sadly I could not.I have many new Cat trees, houses, beds, bowls, toys, lasers, treats, etc.I own a 3,200 SF house in Northville. No kids. My Chi will be 16 this summer. I will not be evicted, no allergies, live alone.Thought would be nice to get Bonded cats, so they could have a new home.As stated, I'm HoH, my Mom was Deaf. I picked out 2 sisters, kittens, one who had lost her hearing due to infections. They don't need to hear, perfect for me!2 hours filling out forms.Immediately got texts about declawing, letting cats outside. Um, see my experiences? They didn't read it.Questions about things like vaccines, what if I'm evicted, blah blah blah. With no permission, 9am on a Saturday, these people immediately blew up all my References! Anyone with a BRAIN knows this is a LAST step, nope. Then they called, texted former Vets. Then I get texts from Kristen, volunteer for kitties I wanted to adopt. As others noticed, she tried to come up with every excuse & issue she could, before she "handed it over to the organization."THREE different volunteers who were given access to my PERSONAL INFORMATION.She texted me about the "issues" I'd told the other Volunteer about. What issues? Your pets' vaccines. This stranger is telling me, with a Masters degree who worked at Banfield as a Vet Tech, about vaccine "issues."Sent dozens of pages of medical records from pets over $10,000 in bills. If you look on their site, states they need records going back a decade.SHE WAS TRYING TO GET RECORDS GOING BACK 20 YEARS!In 20 years, I've moved 7 times, gone thru Divorce, kicked out a long-term SO, & here this Volunteer demanded Not Her Business Records.Had them all. What was her go-to? Asked for records for Vaccines that are NOT REQUIRED.Then she wanted contact info. for ANOTHER VET to "make things easier." Every EXCUSE so in fact, SHE could keep these cats.Oh, I'm sorry, I don't have the sheet printed in 2009 about what vitamins my cat had, ya know while I'm busy moving 12 rescue animals 3,000 miles in an FJ - by myself.Said she'd bring kittens by in a week for a house check. These poor babies have all the time in world to wait on her. What happened?Nothing! Silence. No contact, she disappeared with all my info.Ran 5 References only 3 were required, demanded 20 years of medical records when 10 were required, are handing over my personal info. to multiple unpaid Volunteers, in practice - sending them into homes, asking PERSONAL QUESTIONS nothing to do with adopting. They're Discriminating against a Disabled person, refusing their business, holding me to different standards.Lovely animals, few good Volunteers, but Kristen, ones in charge, allowing applicant's personal info. out, those running this have no idea what they're doing.DISCRIMINATE.
David Altergott Jr: This place is a joke, I was approved for Andrew the Norwegian forest cat who is being fostered with Patrick Robb and apparently his ex wife.I was told he's available, and I spent a couple weeks talking with Patrick, and he right off the bat said he was available, I even offered to pay to hold and he said no need.I had a meeting setup but had a kidney stone and went into hospital, he agreed to meet up.Patrick said his schedule was very free as he works from home, though getting text responses was not very good. He then said he got fired and still was not responding very efficiently to my test.I've been trying to meet him, now this weekend he said he had family stuff going on.I messaged when can we meet during the week yesterday, after a couple weeks into this. Now he states that someone who applied before who didn't have interest now has interest and that superseded me being approved for him, and getting him.He States it's all the rescues choosing, whereas the rescue is saying it's miscommunication by him and his ex wife who are caring for him.what a waste of my time that I'll never get back!!
Dale Winfield: Do you have a new phone number, I tried calling you but your number is out of service.
Michael Landesman: Amazing amazing people that are doing great work! If you are looking to adopt you definitely should look a PAAWsEdit: a few months on and Frankie is healthy and amazing!!! She loves being out and about!
Moreom Rohman: 👍🏽😇
Code Halo: Wanted to adopt a cat that looked like one I used to have, so they gave me a call and said he was “so skittish he will just hide so you may not want him”. I’ve owned many cats, and yeah they’re going to be skittish when you first bring them home, I don’t have an issue with that. Then they tell me he should be in a home with only one cat after saying he’s good with other young cats, plural. So which is it?? Why do rescues always make up excuses for you to no want to adopt their animals, or bend the information so you’re unable to?
Octavia James: My daughter and I did some browsing around. Nice clean atmosphere and the pets are adorable. Definitely considering getting a pet pup from there eventually.
Sandra Fiorani: We love our new kitty. Short wait for application review. Friendly animal loving volunteers.
Amanda Martens: We adopted a kitten and she has become a really special part of our family. Our kitten's foster Mom did a great job raising her.
Patricia: It was great been looking for a labrador retriever mix and was about to give up had been looking 4/6 months I live in chronic pain and we had to put our dog down last year August that I raise from 9 weeks to nine years due to cancer and we had just get ready to decide we wanted another dog but we wanted to just get a laugh and I get all these websites and shelters and no response or nobody I begin to think something was not right with this process I was new to the application process then finally I saw one that I liked anyway they were great I ended up going to see a dog and then turn out not to be a great fit but they were great and look forward to working with them in the future
vlad mirk: They led me to believe the cat was available for adoption for days. I jumped thru all the app hoops( they even called my references ) to find out that I am approved but they gave the cat to someone else!!! No explanation, just " is there any other animal you may be interested in" ???What a joke of an organization.I hope they treat the animals better than the people who are willing to adopt these adorable pets.
April Peera: I adopted two kittens last July from PAAW! The process was thorough yet quick. Everything went so smoothly! I adopted Ravioli and Tortellini before they were spayed/neutered, but PAAW covered all of those costs. The adoption fees are very reasonable and affordable. After applying for the two kitties, I ended up finding out I knew their foster mom!! Small world! Their foster mom, Katie, was and is the best foster mom (I may be biased but she’s amazing!!).PAAW is lucky to have good volunteers like Katie! PAAW has their volunteers run auctions to raise funds for the animals they take in. That is a very fun and productive event!I love being able to give back to this awesome shelter! Thankful they brought me my Pasta Babes! ♥️😂
Paul Carlisle: Tried to adopt a cat that was listed as declawed. That wasn't a concern, the cat matched all our actual desires, so we applied. Quickly got follow up interview and our references were contacted. Then we heard nothing. I contacted them and they said we had been rejected because we had applied for a declawed cat that wasn't declawed; they even admitted it was their mistake in the listing, but we were rejected anyway. We explained to them that declawing wasn't a requirement, but they would not reconsider. Overall they've had good reviews, but over the last year they have been getting solid 1 and 2 start reviews due to senseless rejections like this. Change of personnel? Unknown, but they are working very hard to NOT allow cat adoptions.
Caroline Noel: Very nice staff over the phone but unsure how to adopt a cat!!!
Twiggy Dahl: Don't call the number listed, it's just a lady that tells you she only answers the phone and can't really answer anything, seriously. She also gets rude fast. Also, they deny based on personal opinions and or their mistakes that they won't acknowledge and then lay it all on the fact that they're just volunteers. Super disorganized. I've adopted twice from them and not only do they not have those records, their rules seem to change each time and based on who you talk to-- how does this help the animals? Two of the animals we adopted from there were already sick, the fosters and volunteers really are a mixed bag. It's so much harder than it should be, and then they tell you to find another rescue like there isn't a loving home here for an available animal living in a box at Petco. It feels wrong. I feel bad for the animals, some of these people don't actually seem to want to help them by being bad gatekeepers.
Bryan Harvey: Critical:ProfessionalismI inquired about adopting 2 cats and Sharon responded very rudely. I don’t recommend this place to anyone
Alana Costew: Critical:Professionalism
Kelsey Hughes: Great organization! They actually care about their animals and ensure they go to safe, quality homes. They have great policies like no declawing, always spay/neuter and indoor-only which supports their overall mission of supporting the good of animal welfare. Highly recommend!
Tashawna Simpson: Positive:Professionalism,Responsiveness
