AJ JANIK: Sam just made me a very labor intensive custom piece from an old Louis bag that exceeded my expectations wildly in about half the time I was expecting - couldn’t be happier with his service. If you live in Detroit just make Sam your tailor, no question.

The only thing is that if there’s an event at the rencen it’s hard to find free parking anywhere close, and the second thing is that it’s a bit expensive to get work done there, albeit the phenomenal work that it is. That’s the only reason I took a star off.
Devin Culham: I bought a vintage leather jacket with a faulty zipper. It took about a week with a snowstorm but I wasn't in any rush. I got it back with an installed two-way zipper (suggestion of the tailor) to prevent further zipper issues. The tailoring quality was great. Leather can be unforgiving, but it looks as if it came off the rack - no signs that it's ever been altered.I definitely would recommend Sam's and will be coming back for any future tailoring needs I have!Service:General repairs

Christopher: Eddie is the man and an absolute unit when it comes to efficient, precise alterations. I’ve been to many tailors and most spend lots of time measuring only to require touch up work when the first alteration doesn’t fit perfectly. Eddie is an anomaly - measuring quickly and somehow still delivering consistently perfect results on the first pass. “Measure twice, cut once?” That’s for noobs and masters alike, but not Eddie who is in a league of his own. I’m convinced he could do his job with his eyes closed. Should I ever get mauled by a bear or suffer severe burns in a tragic hot air balloon crash, I would trust my facial reconstructive surgery to Eddie.

Angie Ham: I needed a same day(technically three) alteration for an evening dress two actually but was met with a little haste and realized it was just Eddie’s hustle. Pretty sure that hustle leaked into the $150 I spent on one dress. I was Immediately denied the dress I needed to have let out which ok I’ll figure it out and then came the easy one. It was too big around the waste and sleeves so I just needed this on taken in.I wish I had just got a sewing machine earlier and did it myself. One sleeve was looser than the other but I was in a hurry so I didn’t want to leave it. Another lady there tried on a previously altered pair by Eddie to show him where one leg was indeed shorter than the other (which at first he said it was fine then he said he’d correct it) meh. This place had so much traffic so I know the talent is there for sure so I’m going to go with it just being busy and stressful. I tried to have small talk about fethiye in turkey and he didn’t hear a word lol anyway After speaking w the bride I came into town for she had multiple things done to both her WEDDING dresses down the street and spent $200. They were flawlessly done. I really liked the wife of Eddie who pointed the sleeve out immediately when I tried it on and wanted to fix it but Eddie was quick to speak over her. Don’t blame him I came in last minute and he’s busy. I’m super grateful they were able to fit me in and would probably only come back if I had more time to negotiate and leave the item there for longer. Picture of before and after gray dress as well and the other gown I had to alter myself last minute due to the gray one matching the maid of honors color. Lol go figure.

It was for a groomsmen outfit for an upcoming wedding and he needed more room in the pant (or else risk ripping the pants). Thad was able to miraculously re-stitch the pant to provide that extra room. This was not an easy feat as it required effectively taking the pants apart and then putting them back together. The pants now fit perfectly!I had a bridesmaid dress altered by Thad. He was able to quickly discern how much length need to be hemmed off the bottom without altering the fall of the dress. Hemming may not be the most complicated thing to do but when it comes to women’s dresses, it is critical to ensure the fall does not change. I came in with a bridesmaid dress that had been butchered by another tailor--the dress needed to be totally rebuilt in the waist/chest/sleeves. I tried to take it to another tailor who told me the alterations were too substantial to complete in time for the wedding that was three days away. I came into James' shop the next day and he not only absolutely fixed the dress but he stayed open late and opened early to ensure that I got the dress in time. He and his team did multiple rounds of alterations on the dress to make sure that the dress fit as it should. The team was friendly and attentive and made me feel supported. I cannot thank this team enough and would give 100 stars if I could. Yonisha Shelton: One of the best decisions I made when planning my wedding was choosing Jules for my gown alterations!! I was blown away with how beautiful my gown turned out! I had a beaded, fitted gown that needed a decent amount of work (hemmed, sides taken in, bodice reconstruction, bustle added, etc.) and Jules worked her magic beautifully. Jules also made me a custom cathedral length veil that really tied my whole bridal look together. Not to mention she is very personable and friendly, you’ll feel comfortable as soon as you walk into her store! If you need alterations done, I can’t recommend Jules enough!!
kyra elston: I didn’t have a great experience. The bottom of my wedding dress was hemmed perfectly but my top was very loose. I felt like I needed to pull my straps up and adjust constantly. Jules also made comments during my fitting that didn’t make me feel great. Lastly, the price was outrageous for a simple bustle, hem, and bodice adjustment (that wasn’t adjusted correctly) and even she had commented multiple times that my dress was simple (no lace, beading, etc). I wish I would have taken the time to look elsewhere.

Enada Destani: This review is only for people balling on a budget. I’ve got no complaints about the tailoring part of my bridesmaids dress, because it was a simple as hemming it and fixing the chest area, and making my split on my leg a little longer. My dress did have a weird ripple on the right side, that she just smoothed out with her hands like it was nothing important and she blamed me for it. All I did was put on the dress as delicately as possible lol. For this, I was charged $130. My bridesmaids dress cost $150. If I had known, I would have just bought another dress that fit a little better. I called her twice to ask for pricing, and the first time she never called back when she said she would, and the second time, she said she wasn’t finished ( 2 hours before my appointment of picking the dress up) and couldn’t give me an exact price. My mother also went there to have her 2 dresses hemmed and for this, she was charged $230. We walked out paying $360 all together. What bothers me the most, is that every time we asked how much it would cost, she would ignore and never answer. All tailors have set prices for each specific work they do on a dress. Be careful going there, especially if you don’t want to spent an arm and a leg for some tailoring. If you don’t care then by all means go there.

Adriènne Ferreira: Jules was absolutely wonderful to work with!My dress was very complicated to work with and required extensive alterations with less than 3.5 weeks before my wedding. The back was around 2.5 inches too small and the structured corset style cups were at least 2 cup sizes too big. I went to a highly rated seamstress and she told me my dress could not be fixed. I was heartbroken.But then I found Jules through a Google review. When I called her, she was completely booked but she made time for me and I was so grateful. I knew in my heart she was the one who was going to fix it!Long story short, Jules literally pulled my dress apart and put it back together in the most perfect way. You would never tell any alterations were done to my dress. It fit like a glove.I had tears when I tried on after she fixed. I couldn’t believe it. I thought no one can fix my dream dress.Jules does miracles and I’m forever grateful for her.
