John Hart: A great modern, industrial venue for corporate parties and weddings. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was perfectly prepared and most importantly very tasty. The company party that I attended was at night during a mild winter, parking was easy and everything was very convenient.

Charles Woolley: Family and Groom/Bride's friends assembled here for their Wedding Reception. We started in the downstairs area, for drinks and our d'oeuvres. After 7 PM, we all moved to the upstairs for dinner. The area was large enough, with extra space for family photos, etc. After the meal and speeches were completed, we moved back downstairs for drinks and dancing. Not only was the area large enough, but the wait staff was quite attentive. The view of the water, and Detroit/Canada at night was really awesome. I would recommend this area for large functions.

The wedding was on the 1st floor in an industrial looking high ceiling room with windows overlooking the river walk and the Detroit River. The reception was upstairs in a room with windows overlooking river and Canada. Plated meal that didn't miss a beat except too little dressing on the salad. Dancing was back downstairs along with the cake. I even talked them into a take home container since the food was a regular restaurant serving. Hope more friends get married here.

Everything about the reception was perfect - the ambiance, the professionalism of the staff, the food/drinks, everything. The venue is so gorgeous that we only needed flowers on the tables to consider it fully decorated. I had actually ruled this venue off the list when we were first looking for a reception hall because of the price, but I am so glad my (now) wife convinced me otherwise - worth every penny. We had a total of 198 people at the venue with plenty of space to spare. I highly recommend!

Megan Murphy: We had our ceremony and reception at the Colony Club 4th floor petite ballroom and it was the night of our dreams. We worked with Jaime and Amber for the almost year leading up to our wedding, and they were so professional, friendly, organized. They kept us on track with making decisions, and also offered helpful advice/suggestions. They were very responsive, easy to get in touch with, and flexible with trying to help get the day as perfect as we envisioned. The tasing process was so much fun - you basically get served like at a restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious - we got many compliments from guests about how much they enjoyed it. The actual venue is so romantic and beautiful - the space speaks for itself. On the big day, Preston was the event manager, and he was so great. He handled any issues that came up and coordinated with our wedding planner so my husband and I could just enjoy the night - heck, he even filled in for a bartender that I believe called in sick. He was a man of many talents. I highly recommend the Colony Club for a wedding! The space and employees were great.

It was located in a weird spot of the building though not where it shows the Madison I ended up walking into the buddys to see if they knew where to go and they weren’t to sure either. Luckily the people running the show eventually came out to lead everyone in. They served snacks and drinks as well which was pretty cool being they set this up for us for free.

We worked primarily with Nicole at the venue and wow is she the text book definition of a dedicated worker! Nicoles positivity and kindness was contagious! From start to finish she insured our bridal shower was so special and everything we envisioned and more! She made it all happen! It didn’t just end with Nicole the whole team at the Roostertail is unlike any group I’ve ever worked with or have experienced. Everyone was friendly and actually looked happy to be there and doing their job. You can tell just by everyone’s attitude alone how wonderful the environment is! The serving team made sure the guests never went without a drink in hand and the food came out quick and hot! Some of the best food I’ve ever had at any bridal event (we had the stuffed chicken and whipped potatoes on our menu). All of our guests were just blown away with the venue and the team! So much love in this establishment! Hats off to the Roostertail! 10/10

be :}: they gave me a super hard time at the door because i didn’t know the full name of the person i bought machine girl tix from. i literally had the ticket pdfs open with the codes and everything and they wouldn’t let us in. when i finally got the person’s name, they couldn’t find it in their database or whatever so the girl at the door had to talk to her boss to get us through. we ended up missing a lot of the set, which i’m still pretty bummed about. invest in some qr code scanners or something bc your system is jank (edited back to one star bc i only felt bad about it briefly when they replied trying to shame me)

Joey Kelly: Just went to a show here for the first time & man it was managed poorly. Doors opened at 7pm & I got here at 7:10...didn't actually get inside the place till 8:10. Mind you, it was below 30° & windy as hell tonight. Everyone was outside freezing badly thanks to a very outdated practice of will call tickets. It slowed down the line movement tremendously as they had to look up people's names on a computer before letting them in. I was shaking the whole time & my hands changing colors from the cold. To top things off, the first outta 2 bands, begun their set at 8 even tho like 30-40% of the crowd was still in line outside. You guys need to be more thoughtful with coordinating events.

Terrible sound quality and space, it had a bad set up for ticket entrance (long line even 1.5 hours after doors) and no coat check so people just threw everything on the floor. Overall could hardly hear the band because of too much bass. Would not spend money to come to a show here again.

Everything was BETTER than we imagined and the food was FANTASTIC. We received so many messages from our guests raving about the food and venue- saying it was best wedding they had ever been too! Our guests were literally begging the staff for the Short Rib recipe (Which we highly recommend! But everything was wonderful, you can’t go wrong). The manager Cassy was also very easy to work with. Given the quality of food and service, their prices are very reasonable and worth it! Spend more money on food, and less on decor because this place is beautiful on its own. They also don’t nickel and dime everything (have easels, tables, barrel, chairs, etc all included) and have easy to understand contracts

She never lacked communication, she was always there to answer any questions that we had and she went over and beyond! Also, the food at the venue was phenomenal, Shanel Dewalt (Executive Chef) food was super delicious! Our wedding guests along with my husband and I kept talking about how good the food was. Taylor Brown, Shanel Dewalt and the entire team there was so kind and friendly! Words can’t really express what all we want to say but we hope this review gives you all an idea of how great this venue truly is. We highly recommend!

Maxwell White: It's been one week from our wedding at the Gem and we're still talking about how incredible it was!!Talking about the wedding, we have said "we wouldn't have changed a single thing" and that's thanks to the Gem. From the time we booked it to the end of our wedding night, the Gem was perfect and the staff was so helpful.While Jaime wasn't always our contact, she answered any questions we had when I kept asking, and Dylan helped as our day-of coordinator for whatever we needed.Now, to the venue itself. Having it to yourself is a huge plus, and there are so many great spots for pictures. Getting married on stage was something we were nervous about, but it absolutely rocked! Having friends and family on the floor and in the balcony was amazing to see. We also played into the theatre for our theme with other things like film reels, ticket placecards, etc.The bartenders and kitchen staff were on point, and when there was an emergency, Dylan stepped up to help out and people never waited for a drink. The food was delicious. Highly recommend getting the duo just so people can try some more, and the appetizers kept people snacking during cocktail hour.We wouldn't have changed a thing about the wedding, and we can't recommend the Gem enough.

Bruce Powers: I attended a wedding at this historic theater in the heart of Detroit. There is some interesting architecture and decor. Parking can be a little bit of a pain, unless you want to spend $20 on the parking garage.

The hospitality displayed by the owners is second to none! This B&B is within walking distance of Little Caesar’s Arena, Comerica Ballpark, and Ford Field(football). We’ll book here again and so should you!

I came in from the West Coast and time zone differences make you feel weird, but I slept SO GREAT. The sisters are so nice and the customized breakfast was fun to pick out and all delicious. Lauren Melissa Ellzey: The Cochrane House is a beautiful and cozy place to stay. The sisters that run this bed and breakfast are lovely hosts. Breakfast was made daily (with vegan and gluten free options) and delivered to my door. I enjoyed vegan sausage, a bagel with vegan butter and jam, vegan eggs, mixed berries, and coffee every morning. My room was equipped with a TV, mini-fridge, and Bluetooth speaker. My private bathroom was lovely, and the bed was comfortable. There is coffee and bottled water in the common area kitchen. The common area has couches, tables, board games, and more. Calming instrumental music plays in the common area, too. There is a coat hanger for my coat, which is nice, so I don't have to lug my winter coat to my room. Located near/in downtown Detroit, I could easily travel to a variety of wonderful restaurants. If I could, I would take the Cochrane House with me back home! I highly recommend this BnB over any hotel.Rooms: Cozy and comfortable. Christine Sebastian: My husband and I stayed at the Cochrane House for a holiday getaway. From the moment Rica greeted us at the door to our last goodbye, we felt so welcomed and cared for. The house is truly luxurious and so homey and comforting. Rica and Cina were available and attentive while respecting the privacy of all of their guests. It’s clear that the James sisters have put care and passion into the development and maintenance of this establishment. They truly have thought of everything from the beautiful decor to the smallest details. Honestly, I was a bit sad to leave the inn to go out on the town that night! Ordering breakfast was beyond easy, and the food was amazing. We love to explore B&Bs, and have been to quite a few. This one definitely tops our list!

Jessica Foley: We decided to have a staycation in Detroit, and booked the lounge suite. It was spacious, clean, cozy and comfortable. Rica and Cina were so incredibly sweet and accommodating. Their breakfast was elite. They offered so many options (including vegetarian), and everything tasted phenomenal- prepared themselves! I would love to stay here again.

Minou Carey: This is a five star experience. You are greeted with a soft warm aromatherapy when you walk in the door. I am big on amenities and cleanliness. Everything was spotless and fresh. The two sisters who own the place were extremely hospitable and man the breakfast was delicious too. I had my company retreat here. I will be back! It’s perfect for overnight sleepovers, hosting large family dinners, and a staycation.

Heather Walline: Was surprised by my partner with a weekend getaway to Detroit- he booked a few nights at the amazing historic mansion-turned-luxury B&B Cochrane House. Seriously lack the superlatives to describe how wonderful it was in every aspect. The house is gorgeous, the decor is fabulous, and even the fragrance is to die for (not floral, not masculine, not anything specific, but somehow perfect?). The scrumptious food- charcuterie upon arrival and made-to-order breakfast each morning (very generous portions) was fresh, delicious, locally sourced, and delivered right to our door. The room we stayed in (jazz fusion) was ridiculously comfortable, exquisitely decorated, and included every amenity one could want. Also- the bathroom! Like a mini-day spa right in the room. HUGE, beautiful, walk-in garden shower, with a soaking tub right in the shower (what??) and they have house-made bath salts for guests (of course they bring them right up to your room upon request). Location? Walking distance to everything and anything!Best of all, hosts (& owners) Rica and Cina are unparalleled in providing a first-rate experience for their guests. They are committed to ensuring not only comfort and a pleasurable stay, but truly go above and beyond to make Cochrane House a magnificent must-stay in Detroit. Will definitely be visiting them again, hopefully sooner than later.

Steve V.: Visited with my partner for a long weekend and The Cochrane House was perfect. Rica and Cina are delightful, hospitable, and extremely accommodating. The artistic decor, fragrance and culture are stunning. The home is immaculately clean with several amenities. The food choices and portions are plentiful and delicious. The location is perfectly positioned and within walking distance to almost anywhere you want to go downtown. I can't say enough about this place. We will return.

Nichole Hale: This place is perfect and Rica and Cina are so hospitable and the sweetest!!! Our room was clean and cozy. The beds (yep even the trundle) were very comfortable. The common areas are also clean and cozy. The outside space is relaxing. If you are going to a concert at LCA, baseball or football game, you're in walking distance. The charcuterie on arrival is a nice snack after a drive. Breakfast was delish! I can't wait to go back...even just to stay here and do nothing else.

Karen Kay Rush: Excellent establishment. Excellent Hosts/Owners. This quaint Bed & Breakfast is an excellent cozy place with awesome amenities and atmosphere. Great place to hold workshops, meetings, small family gatherings or just to steal away for some alone time.
