Charrisa Hutchinson: Purchased a whole Pickerel at 2.61lbs. I had it filleted and fried as a dinner purchase. The food was good but I don’t think we received all the meat off the bones. The fillets were very thin, thinner than the orders I get from my other favorite fish markets. My husband and I was giving this place a try since it’s closer to our home. I’m not sure if we’ll be returning.

I almost ran out on my over the phone other when I walked in. The stench was a huge turn off and place was filthy. But I knew that wasn’t the right thing to do. The food was actually good though and seemed to be fresh. Fish and seafood display needs lots of love and cleaning. Clean the place and the displays that would be so much better for business. I was really turned off by the stench and dirt. I will give another chance, but if the store is dirty and stinky as it was today, I will not patronize this business again. Please just clean it up food good. But place is filthy. Sorry for this review but I just tell the truth. Customer service was excellent.

He told me to come back and they would make it right. I told him, I didn't live in Detroit and didn't know when I would be back down that way. He told me, whenever I come, just ask for him and they will replace it. Muhammad made good on his word today.Thank You!

Robert Bennett: I went to this market at 3:15 Monday, December 14 after traveling 30 minutes from Macomb Township to find that the guys were cleaning up. Nobody addressed me when I came up to the counter. I asked if I could be served where I was rudely responded “we’re closed.” I asked what time do you close at, to which they responded 4pm. I said well it’s 3:15. Silence....”talk to that guy.” That guy he gestured towards wouldn’t look or respond to me. I told them I’d never be back and they clearly DGAF. So disgusting, that a business would treat a potential customer like this, but I won’t be around to be treated like this again. Here I am trying to support a business during a pandemic only to get treated this way, guess I’ll order from someone out of town through the internet.

Karen Smith: Star Fish & Seafood wasn't very memorable. The atmosphere had multiple odors which wasn't very pleasant. The service was interesting 'cause a man behind the counter was very talkative and a little noisey. A lot of the seafood choses looked old, tainted, not fresh. I don't think I purchased anything from this place. It was more like I came...I saw (bye). This observation is based on when I last visited there. I haven't gone there recently so things might have changed. #hopefully its gotten better

Martha Huff: While I was there at the star fish& Seafood, the first thing that I observed as I approached star fish & Seafood was the two African American young men one sitting on the table that you would probably prep food on eating his lunch and the other young man was standing there behind the counter that has the fish in eating his food ,as I began to tell them that I had a problem with that , the one young man that was sitting on the table told me that I had messed up his appetite he said that, I shouldn't be talking to them about where they should be eating at , I should be talking to them about getting them some place where they can eat their lunch at.So if this message do reach the desk of the owner of the Star Fish& Seafood .Down at the Eastern market, I hope that you will fix a place where your workers can go and sit down and eat their food away from the food that has to be sold to the public.

I got a Orange Roughy dinner and added some shrimp along for the voyage, which was all quite tasty.Most fish places I don't end up eating the included coleslaw, but I was tipping the container into my mouth today (it was a bit on the sweet side but that didn't stop me). The included piece of bread seemed to be a hybrid white / Italian mixture, which reminded me of something served in higher end restaurants, looking around for some butter to spread on it. The fries were seasoned and I didn't end up even adding any pepper to them as I normally do.Although this was my first time here, I'll definitely be returning! One of the few places around that actually serves a good fish meal around the area.

Not as fresh as I expected with the price. Just an FYI: My grandfather, an avid fisher, told me that fresh fish does not smell. Both types of fish has a slight smell to them. But they weren't pungent. It'll give them another try.
