You see, they are artists, too. They can not only help you with tools, media, materials, and accessories, but they are also familiar with all of the joys, sorrows, quirks, and craziness that go along with being an artist. They are encouraging and supportive. If you can't find it there, chances are they'll know where it can be had. Talk to them about the nature of your artistic experiments. They may have valuable tips. I can't say enough nice things about this store.Oh, wait. Yes, I can! They are the masters at framing. It might seem a bit pricey, but they certainly know their stuff and will not disappoint.UPDATE: The have recently redone the look of the store and are thriving better than ever under the new ownership! Some new employees have come to join the staff you have come to know and love. If you don't know and love them, it means you must not have visited this lovely shop yet! Well? Taylor Plotzke: Moved to the area about 3 years ago. Can’t believe I’ve been trekking to Michaels when Rainy Day was a mile down the road. Stopped in for some pottery supplies. I’m mostly a painter & they have all of my essentials! The store is super clean and organized. So happy I stopped by.

Trevor Sutherland: The store is going in a very exciting direction with a new interior, new products, and they will be offering classes in a newly designed classroom. They handle supply special orders, offer a student discount and has an excellent framing side as well. Learn your craft, make something great, and have it framed all in one spot.Everyone here is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and it's been a pleasure to frequent them for more than 20 years.

Tim Burke: My go to art store.I have gotten some smudges on a mat board, I had a recollection of 25 years ago when I was framing we had these dry cleaning pads that would help to clean up mat boards and I thought where the heck am I going to get one now, and sure enough rainy day hat I was blown away they have a lot of unique art materials as well as framing materials Etc.Lisa and Amy always go above and beyond to make for a great customer experience.

Jay Shimko: This is NOT your BIG BOX store! The employees are actually artists and know their stuff. The knowledge from the associates is priceless. A lot of hard to find items are stocked up in this store, plus if they Do NOT have it, they WILL order it for you. This is a great place to go for that emergency item you need, its a quick in and out! No long lines like the Big Box places. They also work with the local schools and will have the Art school supply lists, so you can get everything you need. If you catch Kelly in there, she is a awesome employee! Check out her art work that is hanging on the walls, she knows a ton.

John Wesenberg: I have utilized The Great Frame Up in GPW, MI for a few jobs thus far- I had a piece that I required some rapid matting done, and the custom frame I'd found elsewhere (they have an excellent selection in house- I just happened across the perfect frame I needed at an estate sale) cleaned & rewired- I'd left a voicemail the day prior and Heather contacted me promptly: we met in store (as an aside, they are practicing Excellent Covid-19 safety practices)- Heather was good enough to rush my order through & I got lucky as the special matting chosen happened to be in stock- as usual they did a Fabulous Job! It is PRECISION work that they are performing- some people are not aware of this- I find their price points to be very well in-line, average, if not below dozens of works I've had custom framed & or matted (or both) elsewhere. Good Work, Good Jobs & Attentive as well as informative to their clients-

My custom framing job was completed quickly and expertly, with all of the requirements for mounting included at pick up. Best of all, when I realized I had made a mistake on the cross stitch piece I had framed, they took the frame apart, let me fix it in store, and reframed it for me all within less than an hour. Truly, customer service does not get better than this. I'm very happy with my experience here and I highly encourage everyone to come here for custom framing!
