I signed her up for 1:1 tutoring in both areas.Sylvan Learning provided a very comfortable and encouraging space for learning. My daughter’s tutor was wonderful. She also enjoyed how the program was delivered on a tablet as it felt less daunting. Since joining, she’s more motivated to write and feels less overwhelmed with her math learning, namely multiplication. The Sylvan “store” was a great motivator as she looked forward to using the tokens she earned.My only constructive feedback would be for Sylvan Learning to provide its franchises with some take home materials or a workbook for students to share/review the work being done during sessions. 1:1 tutoring is an investment and a supplementary workbook is not a big ask.However, there was thorough insight provided via monthly reports on student progress and the content that was covered.That said, the Sylvan Learning location in Windsor was great. Giovanna and her team were very responsive. Overall, My daughter and I are happy to have signed her up and wish we would’ve started sooner.

sandra buskin: In April 2017, I enrolled my second-grader niece, Ke'Iko, in the Sylvan Learning Center of Dearborn. Our family's concern was for her struggles with reading. Although she was in the second grade, she was only reading at a first grade level. Her second grade teacher, who had expressed concerns about Ke'Iko's reading skills since the start of the September 2016 school year, was seriously considering not recommending my niece's promotion to the third grade for the upcoming September 2017 school year. That possibility really upset Ke'Iko. No matter how hard she tried, and despite extra help from her parents and teacher, my niece's reading skills were not significantly improving. I knew something more had to be done! My only regret is the fact that I waited so long to finally reach out to Sylvan.Months before, I had gone online to research the many tutoring options and I found information about Sylvan. I was impressed with what I learned, and shared my findings with Ke'Iko's parents. They agreed that we should contact Sylvan to discuss my niece's needs. Sylvan set up an appointment for assessment testing to evaluate her strengths and weaknesses, and to recommend a plan of action. Along with Ke'Iko's parents, the decision was made to enroll her in two 1-hour sessions per week (eight hours per month). Sylvan assured us that they could help my niece, and Ke'Iko was excited to begin.After a few weeks, Ke'Iko's second grade teacher began to notice an improvement in her reading skills. Fast-forward approximately five months to September 2017, and the start of a new school year - my niece is now a proud third-grader, and is making steady progress! She loves reading, has a library card, and regularly visits the library to check out books.No doubt, her improvement is due, in large part, to the efforts of the Sylvan Learning Center of Dearborn. Thank you to April, Erin, and all the teachers and tutors there. They really care. Our family is very pleased with Ke'Iko's progress. She currently still attends Sylvan each week, and we look forward to her continued improvement. We highly recommend the Sylvan Learning Center.
