She was extremely knowledgeable on the space, answered all our questions, and was very accommodating working around our work schedules to set up a tour. While we didn’t end up booking this venue, it was very beautiful (the views are insane) and the staff was amazing.. so I would still highly recommend to anyone!
Tyra Ciacelli: We just can not begin to thank the team at Roostertail enough for giving us the most pleasant and perfect bridal shower experience. We worked primarily with Nicole at the venue and wow is she the text book definition of a dedicated worker! She always made sure to make us feel like her number one priority and answered every phone call/email no matter what she was doing or what time of the day it was. Nicoles positivity and kindness was contagious! From start to finish she insured our bridal shower was so special and everything we envisioned and more! She made it all happen! It didn’t just end with Nicole the whole team at the Roostertail is unlike any group I’ve ever worked with or have experienced. Everyone was friendly and actually looked happy to be there and doing their job. You can tell just by everyone’s attitude alone how wonderful the environment is! The serving team made sure the guests never went without a drink in hand and the food came out quick and hot! Some of the best food I’ve ever had at any bridal event (we had the stuffed chicken and whipped potatoes on our menu). All of our guests were just blown away with the venue and the team! So much love in this establishment! Hats off to the Roostertail! 10/10

We spoke with Shawna and told her our story. She embraced us , our story, our family and she designed an evening we will never forget !! Our six children, their spouses, 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren were treated to an elegant atmosphere, fabulous dinner, excellent service and a personal touch like none other. Thank you Shawna and your Team for a night so lovely that the afterglow will linger in our hearts and warm the memories we cherish. We love you ♥️

John Hart: A great modern, industrial venue for corporate parties and weddings. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was perfectly prepared and most importantly very tasty. The company party that I attended was at night during a mild winter, parking was easy and everything was very convenient.

Charles Woolley: Family and Groom/Bride's friends assembled here for their Wedding Reception. We started in the downstairs area, for drinks and our d'oeuvres. After 7 PM, we all moved to the upstairs for dinner. The area was large enough, with extra space for family photos, etc. After the meal and speeches were completed, we moved back downstairs for drinks and dancing. Not only was the area large enough, but the wait staff was quite attentive. The view of the water, and Detroit/Canada at night was really awesome. I would recommend this area for large functions.

I was very impressed with the staff (Chloe was the best server) and the flow of events from ceremony, to hors d’oeuvres, to dinner and reception was seamless. The food was excellent! It was a beautiful backdrop and scenery and just an all around amazing spot for a special day.

The venue is absolutely breathtaking, the view is beautiful. The food was beyond delicious. The service was on a totally different level, they were amazing (thank you Spencer)!! I am still getting phone calls from our guests complimenting the entire wedding. If you are considering this venue, do yourself a favor and book it, I promise you won't regret it!

E. B. Snodgrass: I was there for a black tie optional wedding and what a wonderful place, food and service. The wedding was on the 1st floor in an industrial looking high ceiling room with windows overlooking the river walk and the Detroit River. The reception was upstairs in a room with windows overlooking river and Canada. Plated meal that didn't miss a beat except too little dressing on the salad. Dancing was back downstairs along with the cake. I even talked them into a take home container since the food was a regular restaurant serving. Hope more friends get married here.

be :}: they gave me a super hard time at the door because i didn’t know the full name of the person i bought machine girl tix from. i literally had the ticket pdfs open with the codes and everything and they wouldn’t let us in. when i finally got the person’s name, they couldn’t find it in their database or whatever so the girl at the door had to talk to her boss to get us through. we ended up missing a lot of the set, which i’m still pretty bummed about. invest in some qr code scanners or something bc your system is jank (edited back to one star bc i only felt bad about it briefly when they replied trying to shame me)

Great location, beautiful inside area, outside patio area and beautiful architecture, plenty of parking. It was my dream venue and I’m in love with it. You can really make it into anything you want! Emily, the main contact, is very knowledgeable and was so helpful the entire way through. They also work with a lot of great vendors that they recommend to you. Joey Kelly: Just went to a show here for the first time & man it was managed poorly. Doors opened at 7pm & I got here at 7:10...didn't actually get inside the place till 8:10. Mind you, it was below 30° & windy as hell tonight. Everyone was outside freezing badly thanks to a very outdated practice of will call tickets. It slowed down the line movement tremendously as they had to look up people's names on a computer before letting them in. I was shaking the whole time & my hands changing colors from the cold. To top things off, the first outta 2 bands, begun their set at 8 even tho like 30-40% of the crowd was still in line outside. You guys need to be more thoughtful with coordinating events.
Lauren Flynn: Really bad as a concert venue. Terrible sound quality and space, it had a bad set up for ticket entrance (long line even 1.5 hours after doors) and no coat check so people just threw everything on the floor. Overall could hardly hear the band because of too much bass. Would not spend money to come to a show here again.

Sean McCarroll: We had our wedding reception here last month and they blew it out of the park! Everything about the reception was perfect - the ambiance, the professionalism of the staff, the food/drinks, everything. The venue is so gorgeous that we only needed flowers on the tables to consider it fully decorated. I had actually ruled this venue off the list when we were first looking for a reception hall because of the price, but I am so glad my (now) wife convinced me otherwise - worth every penny. We had a total of 198 people at the venue with plenty of space to spare. I highly recommend!
Megan Murphy: We had our ceremony and reception at the Colony Club 4th floor petite ballroom and it was the night of our dreams. We worked with Jaime and Amber for the almost year leading up to our wedding, and they were so professional, friendly, organized. They kept us on track with making decisions, and also offered helpful advice/suggestions. They were very responsive, easy to get in touch with, and flexible with trying to help get the day as perfect as we envisioned. The tasing process was so much fun - you basically get served like at a restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious - we got many compliments from guests about how much they enjoyed it. The actual venue is so romantic and beautiful - the space speaks for itself. On the big day, Preston was the event manager, and he was so great. He handled any issues that came up and coordinated with our wedding planner so my husband and I could just enjoy the night - heck, he even filled in for a bartender that I believe called in sick. He was a man of many talents. I highly recommend the Colony Club for a wedding! The space and employees were great.

Tony Apperson: Went here originally on during a company outing to see hocus locus 2. Was super cool they set this up for us, it was a cool experience. It was located in a weird spot of the building though not where it shows the Madison I ended up walking into the buddys to see if they knew where to go and they weren’t to sure either. Luckily the people running the show eventually came out to lead everyone in. They served snacks and drinks as well which was pretty cool being they set this up for us for free.

Employees from the sound/video crew to the servers are ALL super nice, attentive, professional, and awesome!I’m a professional photographer and shot an event here, even though I wasn’t a guest of the party I was still treated as such. The views are amazing, space is large and inviting, I can’t wait until I’m back for another event! Great job Madison!

Maxwell White: It's been one week from our wedding at the Gem and we're still talking about how incredible it was!!Talking about the wedding, we have said "we wouldn't have changed a single thing" and that's thanks to the Gem. From the time we booked it to the end of our wedding night, the Gem was perfect and the staff was so helpful.While Jaime wasn't always our contact, she answered any questions we had when I kept asking, and Dylan helped as our day-of coordinator for whatever we needed.Now, to the venue itself. Having it to yourself is a huge plus, and there are so many great spots for pictures. Getting married on stage was something we were nervous about, but it absolutely rocked! Having friends and family on the floor and in the balcony was amazing to see. We also played into the theatre for our theme with other things like film reels, ticket placecards, etc.The bartenders and kitchen staff were on point, and when there was an emergency, Dylan stepped up to help out and people never waited for a drink. The food was delicious. Highly recommend getting the duo just so people can try some more, and the appetizers kept people snacking during cocktail hour.We wouldn't have changed a thing about the wedding, and we can't recommend the Gem enough.

Perry Columbus: This place is truly a Detroit Gem! Pun intended haha. I remember when they dug it up and moved the whole building. It looks so perfect in its current spot perched at the corner there with it’s pristine gardens that you’d think it’s always been there.
Michelle Egan: I had my wedding at the Gem Theatre this year and honestly can say the venue was a hit! My guests kept telling my all night, "This is such a great venue". We utilized the theatre as much as possible for both the ceremony and reception. Their wedding team was a pleasure to work with and made the process as simple as planning a wedding can be. Thank you for a great experience and being the pillar to my wedding!
Bruce Powers: I attended a wedding at this historic theater in the heart of Detroit. There is some interesting architecture and decor. Parking can be a little bit of a pain, unless you want to spend $20 on the parking garage.
Marcelle Bryant: I attended The D Show. The Gem Theater is a beautiful place to host events. I only wish I had access to more than one restroom and more than one mezzanine exit. Trying to get across the entire mezzanine and then walking down two flights of stairs to use the restroom was a lot.

Melinda Yageman: We hosted our DIY wedding ceremony and reception for 200 guests here. From beginning to end, Simeon and the staff were great to work with. They answered all my questions and worked with us to help achieve our vision for catering, bar, decor, sound, and setup/teardown. They let us do everything ourselves which saves tons of money when planning a wedding. Simeon let us tour a couple of times to see the place and then bring all my helpers in to get them familiar. The tables, chairs, arch, bar, and sound system they provided were perfect for our needs. In addition, I loved all the natural plants which added so much beauty!! And using the room upstairs to get ready with my bridal party was so nice. There was ample room for our hair and makeup artists, dresses, etc. Parking was great, signage was helpful, and our guests loved the large doors with the outdoor space. Would 10/10 recommend this to anyone!

Such a cool, unique space that can be transformed into whatever you like or as little as you desire. It's also ideally located for pictures in and around Detroit. Kendra Luke: We had our Wedding Reception and Ceremony recently at Great Lakes Culinary Center, food (including cake and mini desserts) by Chef Reva Constantine. Everything was BETTER than we imagined and the food was FANTASTIC. We received so many messages from our guests raving about the food and venue- saying it was best wedding they had ever been too! Our guests were literally begging the staff for the Short Rib recipe (Which we highly recommend! But everything was wonderful, you can’t go wrong). The manager Cassy was also very easy to work with. Given the quality of food and service, their prices are very reasonable and worth it! Spend more money on food, and less on decor because this place is beautiful on its own. They also don’t nickel and dime everything (have easels, tables, barrel, chairs, etc all included) and have easy to understand contracts

The food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect and Cassy did a stand-up job helping to coordinate everything. Andrew Gasworth: Attended a wedding and they did a great job. The food was creative and prepared nicely. EG Mini waffle and chicken on a skewer appetizer. The beef skewer and the beef entree were cooked to a nice medium rare, very tender and flavorful. Everything was very good. The staff was professional and courteous. I'd recommend this venue for any event.

PhaShunta Smith: Great Lakes Culinary Center is such a beautiful hidden gem. My husband recommended this venue for our wedding and I am so glad he did. We got married there about three weeks ago. Taylor Brown (Director of Operations) was such a huge help and she made the wedding planning process very smooth for us from the beginning to end. She never lacked communication, she was always there to answer any questions that we had and she went over and beyond! Also, the food at the venue was phenomenal, Shanel Dewalt (Executive Chef) food was super delicious! Our wedding guests along with my husband and I kept talking about how good the food was. Taylor Brown, Shanel Dewalt and the entire team there was so kind and friendly! Words can’t really express what all we want to say but we hope this review gives you all an idea of how great this venue truly is. We highly recommend!
